I'm so glad that this place opened up! I had been looking for new hookah lounges on the westside to frequent and diplomat did not disappoint. It's located on westwood Blvd in a little plaza. There are some parking spots in front if you're lucky but you'll most likely have better luck finding street parking near by. The place offers both indoor and outdoor. I came in on a Thursday night around 8 pm and we decided to go with outdoor seating. It was pretty empty when we arrived but later on it did start getting busier. I do believe they have some sort of live music and a piano player however I did not witness it firsthand. They have a lot of hookah and food options. The star of the show was the sangak pizza! Wanted some food while I was in the area. It's basically a hookah lounge that serves food. The vibe I got was that everyone knew each other. The service was great and our server was a nice girl. We ordered a margarita pizza and a the cold cut sandwich. The margarita pizza was small and basically some tomatoes a d cheese on a premade dough. Not good at all to be honest. The sandwich on the other hand was very good. The portion size was great, all the flavors complimented each other and was just overall delicious. I don't smoke hookah anymore so I didn't smoke but from what I saw they were hitting clouds and I couldn't hear a drag which means they pack decent heads. This hookah lounge is decent overall, but you can only smoke outside ( not eat) and only eat inside which is a bit disappointing and inconvenient. When we went they told us they only had pizza available so we tried the Persian pizza, which was okay. The hookah was just okay. On Google, it says the place is open until 2 AM, so I went there around 11:30 PM. By the time I got my hookah, it was almost 11:45 PM. However, at 12:30 AM, they told me they were closing. I was surprised and asked them about it since their listed hours say they're open until 2 AM. They said they were closing early because there were no customers but allowed me to stay until 1 AM while rushing me to finish. The hookah price was listed as around $30, but they charged me about $50 for one hookah and a Coke. The prices were too high, which is fine, but the amount I was charged didn't match what was listed. The service was just okay. At closing time, one of the staff members apologized for closing early, which I appreciated, but it didn't change my experience. Overall, I was not satisfied at all. Although disappointed in the environment. We expected live music and or loud music when dinning. Unfortunately, that was a bust. We also called ahead of time and was told it starts around 9pm. We ordered Hummus and Pita, and unfortunately that was a bust as well, the hummus lacked flavor and the pita bread was served cold, until we asked. We decided to leave, but the owner showed her face and was apologetic. Ensured our food would be good. But given the fact the environment and the pita was not the best impression we canceled our order,and left. We hope this can improve and we will return. read more

Hands down the best hookah spot in LA. Their food is phenomenal, and their hookah lasts forever. Great place to come by yourself or with a group. I love this place because the music is not loud at all and it's very relaxing, even on the weekends when it's packed. Well, me or my girl does not smoke. But we were invited here from her UCLA friends for dinner and all. So we all had some Beef Kobediah, which was awefully delicious and all. Some of her friends smoked some hookahs. I had me a couple drinks or what not since she was driving us back home. Yeah, the downside is that they close at 11:30 pm. If Chuck E Cheese served middle eastern food, this is what they would be serving. Koobideh kabobs were bland, flat, and extremely salty... very small portions for the price (my friend got this). I instinctually declined having any middle eastern dishes because NOBODY was eating there (seems like the regulars only smoke hookah), so I tried to play it safe by getting a Caesar salad with chicken (was expecting at the least chicken kabob pieces)... Instead, I got a disgusting salad with chopped up chicken tenders and so much shredded mozzarella cheese... Couldn't finish it. Service was not there either. I enjoy the Persian food in this restaurant & Hookah bar. Call Diplomat to see if they will allow you to bring your own alcohol because, as of the last night, they do not have a full bar. Also, if you have a sensitivity to hookah smoke and you only want to eat Persian food, do not go to Diplomat. The only item I did not like here were their yogurt and cucumber. Also, they do not have any parking. But, instead, they have great music by their own DJ, and they have a separate piano room and separate Cigar room, too. My rating of 5 stars does not include those 2 other rooms. Call them for reservations for Friday and Saturday nights. Enjoy the food and/or hookah. read more

Do not go here for food.... Service was horrible. 3 people in our party did not get their food, 2 appetizers were missing, drinks weren't served until 15 min after they brought appetizers. They tried to charge us for all the food we ordered, even tho we didn't receive most of it. The food was not good. The people who didn't receive their food, cancelled their order based off the poor quality of the appetizers. The server was mad when we refused to pay for items we didn't receive.. People around the restaurant who ordered hookah seemed to enjoy it. I did notice other tables of people who seemed like regulars, did not order food.. they only ordered fries & tea.
