    Chicken Kefta Kebab Plate

I haven't been to Sunnin for over a decade, when I was a young lad I used to frequent this spot and always loved their lentil soup. Came in today and ordered that soup with some slices of lemons, boy that soup brought me back to my early 20s. What a wonderful time warp! I also ordered their chicken kefta kebab plate, the chicken was good, the rice was ok (it tasted reheated), salad was delicious, the side hot green sauce was really nice as well. All in all I was happy to visit this spot again.

Looking for truly authentic Lebanese cuisine with a mid eastern vibe... Well, this is the place! Located just outside of Beverly Hills in Westwood... we stopped on our way to Marina Del Ray for a quick bite that ended up being almost 2 hours!! Why? So many great items on the menu ... Since I'm the only member of the family not Lebanese, as my wife and son have a blend, I've learned to appreciate the food for the past 35 years!! So, of course they order a bunch of different things to eat and share. Toss in a couple of Corona's for the men... and, dig in. Juliet our server was great. Explained certain house dishes... more ordering. Then the hummus and fresh, warm pita bread arrived and our trip to the Middle East had begun. Almost 2 hours later, I went to the restroom and my son, grabbed the check. Way to go... [[HIGHLIGHT]]Stop by for lunch or dinner and enjoy the real life experience yourself!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bon appetite!!!

This was my first visit to Sunnin and have heard many great things. We were looking for somewhere to eat before getting back on the north 405 nightmare. The staff were very friendly. The parking can be tricky, but they do have parking spots along the restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has a great feel and the restrooms were clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is plenty of seating inside; great place for large parties.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Outside eating is lackluster as it is a parking lot with an easyup.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is an extensive menu and once we decided we were so happy with our choices. We order the Beef Kefta Kebab Plate and the Mixed Shawarma. The meat is so flavorful and tender. The rice was also yummy. The portions are large so we had enough to take home for lunch the next day. We will most definitely be back when we are in the area again and hope you give them a try as well.

The clouds were out, covering up the fact that it was a warm summer day. Those clouds served as a focal point as I drifted into the comforts of daydreaming. Suddenly, I snapped back to what we call the moment, only to realize I wasn't sure where I was. Sweat slid down my forehead as I started to accept my new dementia filled reality. First things first, how did I get here and why am I here? I remember driving here with my beautiful co-pilot that now sits across from me but I cannot remember where I am. That was when my olfactory senses brought me back to my known reality. The smell of hummus, hot falafel, tabouleh, spicy potatoes and Shish Tawook. I knew exactly where I was but I decided to verify my sanity by asking the waiter, "Excuse me, did you guys move?" The waiter confirmed that the current location was not the same as the location I had been to many years ago. This Sunnin sat in a different location but the food has done what it always does, which is, save me from my own insanity. Stay staying sane and don't forget to ask for extra garlic sauce my friends...

Terrific! Every staff member was friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Layla! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Excellent people watching! Love to see people of all ages and many cultures enjoying the same food in the same place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking wasn't my favorite, but it was very worth it! Been coming here for years. Family owned and a small business! My go to: Falafel entree. I'm gonna say these are my favorite falafels in west LA. Like they are PERFECT. They're crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside. Not grainy at all. Not salty. They're amazing. Comes with the most refreshing salad, and soft rice. And the HUMMUS, 10/10 too! Spicy potatoes: not spicy in my opinion and they're 5000/10. They're amazing if you like perfectly crispy potatoes, garlic and lemonnnnnnnnn omggggg I could eat these errrrday.

I had a craving for some good Lebanese food. I was shocked the place was slept empty but people started to stagger in after 4pm. They also get a lot of delivery/ Uber Eats deliveries. The staff was polite and they had nice set up inside with big windows to let the natural light in. I had the Shish Tawook plate and mint tea. Everything was fresh, flavorful and they gave a generous amount. Thank you!

Frozen oily fries and some weird shawarma

What in the world. Did I Just ordered. yuck. The worst oily French fries frozen ones on top of that. Omg. Shawarma ie weird not like meat. Tahini is water and no salad with a $30 entree. Not happy. Never again. Carnival in Sherman oaks is the best in LA.

Squash/eggplant stuffed with meat. Squash is better.
    Christine L.

Ate dinner here before trick-or-treating and was really impressed. Loved the stuffed squash/eggplant with meat appetizer. I shared the mixed combo kabob plate with kiddo. Wow their garlic paste is the best I've tasted. They said they make it with avocado oil...

Great Lebanese food that feels close to Armenian in seasoning and style, especially with the kebabs. The kefta had great texture and flavor. Portions are massive, though one plate per person is plenty. I got the grilled mix and would recommend it. Service was attentive, though it seemed like staff turnover is high since not everyone was fully in the loop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance felt like a welcoming mom-and-pop spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service: Attentive but a little inconsistent Food: Kefta was excellent, grilled mix had great flavors, portions are huge [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance: Casual and cozy mom-and-pop atmosphere[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 8/10 - Big plates of flavorful food in a friendly, homey setting

The beef tongue was super tender and you can taste each spice and herb it was cooked in. Super flavorful! The baguette itself was crisp but soft and coated with garlic sauce and garnished with juicy pickle slices!! Very great quality. The manti was crisp and buttery! The place is pretty small and hard to navigate around the seating. The best and our favorite of the three wraps was the tongue wrap. This was seriously outstanding and one of the best I've had. It was juicy, lemony, cooked well and flavorful. After that, things went downhill. The vegetable wrap was greasy, almost slimey, and falling apart. The vegetables were all soggy and there wasn't much flavor. The chicken shawarma panini was the biggest disappointment. This was so salty and had a bad taste like the chicken was rancid. It was dry and just not good at all. On the way out we spoke to the owner and mentioned how salty it was, to which he said he knows about it and people complain about it often. So why isn't there a change? Sadly not a place I would return to

It was such an unforgettable and refreshing experience. Chef Anita has such a vision. Every detail was well thought of, from the outdoor patio dining surrounded by olive bushes to the indoor wooden and oak touches with Fairouz playing overhead. What's even better is EVERY single dish is labelled clearly for allergy diners! AHHHH as a nut allergy girly this had me geekin. All the celiac diners can enjoy their dining experience without any triggering fears as well. I went with their famous Lebanese egg pie and my friend got the grilled salmon plate. The pita was pillow soft, like how do you do that? Magic, I tell you. The egg pie was SO special. Pillow soft as well and super filling. The flavors of every dish were legendary. We arrived midday on a Sunday and we're promptly sat, having been given the option for patio or indoor. We chose the patio, and between the clematis, lantana, and olive trees it is a very lovely setting in which to enjoy a meal. We were promptly brought a bottle of cold water and glasses, and our beverage orders were taken. I had a honey lavender latte with oat milk, and my husband had Lebanese coffee (no milk no sugar.) my latte was fragrant, the perfect temperature, and just the right amount of sweet. The Lebanese coffee was smooth, floral without being perfume, and excellent. We started with the falafel and the batata harra. Both absolutely excellent. For our entrees we selected the shakshuka and the Lebanese egg pie. Both were also excellent. Everything was well cooked, well presented, flavorful without being overwhelmed by any component. We took home a baklava tart, because we simply did not have the ability to eat more at the table. It was tender, moist, not too sweet, the pistachio flavor coming through as nutty and grassy, seriously so good! And it's worth noting, this whole restaurant is gluten free. I would not have realised if I had not known ahead of time. The texture of the pita with the shakshuka was exactly what one would expect, as was the bread of the egg pie. The pastry of the tart was flakey and delicious. And having said all of that, the service is what puts it above and beyond. Everyone was warm and pleasant, and seemed to genuinely appreciate the compliments. Staff seemed like they liked their jobs, which for me is always a good sign.

Let's start with the drink....I'm not a fan of anything rose flavored or scented so I wanted to make sure the rose flavor wasn't too strong in the Jallab. Since I was told the rose flavor is pretty prominent, it was suggested I do the Jallab with lemonade. What a perfect selection! I didn't pick up any rose flavor and the drink was so pretty. This is a refreshing alternative if you don't want to go with a soda. I already had my heart set on the appetizers and fortunately the other person was on board with the same choices. For dippers, I always go with a yogurt and cucumber appetizer and the Babaghanouj did not disappoint. These sides came with three pieces of pita bread. Neither side was overly garlicky and paired well with my entree. If you love cheese borek like I do, get you some cheese rolls. My only regret is only getting one. The cheese rolls were perfectly flavored and not overly salty. Now for the entree...I already had my eye on three meats so the waitress said to go with The Your Way Plate, which came with a kafta and tenderloin skewer. I also added a lamb skewer on the side. Both my lamb and tenderloin skewer were cooked medium and they were perfect. Lamb is one of those dishes that can be a hit or miss because if it's not cooked right, it will be chewy - mine was perfect! And, the spices they use to cook the lamb in will have you trying to pick up every last drop of juice with your pieces of meat. No complaints with the kafta either. I chose rice as my side because I love me the carbs. We went on a weekday for lunch and parking was easy enough to find on a side street. The staff was friendly and there was indoor and outdoor seating options. This place gets a yummy in my tummy rating and I will be back sooner rather than later.

My go-to order is the lamb kebab plate with half rice and half cabbage salad. The lamb is always cooked perfectly--tender, juicy, and incredibly flavorful (I usually order it medium well). The rice is delicious, but I especially love the cabbage salad, which is tossed in a bright, refreshing mix of lemon juice, olive oil, and garlic. It's the perfect balance to the rich, savory lamb, and the meal always leaves me feeling satisfied without being overly heavy. The restaurant has very limited indoor seating, so if you can, I'd recommend dining in. This is one of those meals that's best enjoyed fresh and piping hot. I like taking my time cutting the lamb into bite-sized pieces and savoring every bite. If you're planning to order takeout instead, I'd suggest the combo plate with the chicken, tenderloin, and ground beef skewers, also with half rice and half cabbage salad. Those meats are softer and easier to enjoy on the go, especially if you're eating shortly after picking it up. And don't skip the garlic sauce--it is absolutely delicious and takes everything to the next level. Simple, fresh, and consistently well-executed, Skaf's On York has definitely earned a spot as one of my favorite restaurants in Highland Park.

You get more variety and it just feels like the right way to eat here. Every now and then I'll switch it up and get the liver plate -- it comes with tons of greens and onions, and when you wrap everything in their fresh pita, it's incredible. Then came the food: * Hummus Duck 'Nduja * Chicken Liver Pâté * Fried Quail * Farm Cheese with Buckwheat Toast * Oyster Mushroom Kebab * Slow-Roasted Lamb Neck Shawarma * Wagyu Beef Cheek Tagine For dessert, we finished things off with the Fresh Peach Tart. Everything came out timely, fresh, and cooked to perfection. There were a lot of great dishes on the table, but the standout star of the night was the Slow-Roasted Lamb Neck Shawarma. Tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious! Overall, Bavel was a great first experience. Good food, great energy, solid service, and the perfect spot for sharing a meal with friends.

Hands down one of the best Mediterranean meals I've had in Long Beach…read more Everything we ordered was incredible. The lamb chops were the star of the meal--perfectly seasoned, savory, juicy, and beautifully grilled with that fresh, smoky barbecue flavor. The hummus was a 10/10: silky smooth, topped with whole chickpeas, and full of rich, authentic flavor. The rice deserves its own mention. It was light, fluffy, buttery, and perfectly cooked--not sticky at all. Paired with the fresh salad, it balanced the meal perfectly. For drinks, the sorbet drink was so refreshing, and the pomegranate tea was outstanding with bright, fruity notes that made it the perfect way to end the meal. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful. Sitting outside on the sidewalk felt cozy and romantic, and the decor inside genuinely made me feel like I was back in Turkey. The restaurant is spotless (including the restrooms), and the customer service was warm, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. If you're looking for authentic Turkish and Mediterranean food in Long Beach, this place is a must-visit. I'll definitely be back for those lamb chops!
