He was compassionate, patient, and always available to answer my questions, no matter how many times I called. He truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of. We used their cremation services, and every step was handled with professionalism, dignity, and respect. Since my brother-in-law was a veteran, Noah helped us obtain his DD214, guided us through the VA benefits process, and coordinated the military honors and funeral services at Miramar. His knowledge and willingness to help with every detail took a tremendous burden off our family. Their prices were very reasonable, and everything was explained clearly with no pressure or surprises. I truly appreciated Noah's kindness, professionalism, and dedication to helping our family honor my brother-in-law's service. I highly recommend this mortuary to anyone looking for compassionate, knowledgeable, and affordable funeral or cremation services. Thank you, Noah, for your exceptional care and support during this difficult time.

My three sisters and I liked the fact that they are also three sisters who were familiar with cancer in their family (like us). We also like to support local, family/ women-owned businesses. We met with Angela (one of the owners) a couple days after my mother's passing and it couldn't have been a better encounter, considering the sad circumstances. It is a time of extreme shock and grief, and I have seen firsthand how many funeral providers take advantage of our need to honor our dearly departed by guilting people into extravagance and excess. Not Cortez. Angela was intuitive, personable, empathetic, knowledgeable and above all, so kind to us during the hardest time of our life. She was a real person who laughed and cried with us, allowing us to ask what seemed like a million questions, never making us feel rushed. She was not afraid to tell us her family's personal story, and that the reason they started this company was to be able to take care of our loved ones with as much consideration as they do their own. Their motivation is pure, and not once did we ever feel upsold or pressured to do anything more than what my mother and our family wanted. Dennis also helped with the details and death certificates and even delivered them to my office. They allowed us to use our own urns that were previously purchased, then willingly honored my mother's request to divide her ashes among her five children. (That was a huge burden lifted from our shoulders to have the experts handle that.) Even though we opted not to have Cortez coordinate a formal service or a viewing (we had a private family memorial at a later date), they thoughtfully prepared my mother for our final goodbye at their crematorium, and even showed us where she would be cremated, answering our many questions and reviewing the process with us because we wanted to know everything. The gentleman in charge of that was so gracious (I can't recall his name, but I recall his kind manner). They all made sure taking care of the business end of my mother's death was as comforting as possible. If you are looking for a family to take care of your family, Angela and her team are the real deal. I am so glad there is an independent, family-owned business like this in San Diego that cares about people, not just the bottom line. In the end, we walked away with a very simple cremation for less than $800, and yet we were treated like high-budget customers from beginning to end. Well, that's too impersonal. We were really treated like family. Don't let the fact that they are extremely affordable lead you to think you'll get bargain-basement funeral services - you couldn't be more wrong about that. I highly recommend them without hesitation, and our other family members and I plan to make advance arrangements with them as well. Thank you to Angela, Dennis and the team for taking such good care of us.

Honestly, we picked them from a random list of mortuaries suggested by our hospice provider. (The "Care Center" name had some appeal.) From the earliest moments of determining scope of service, we felt like we were in good hands. Megan R. was so incredibly lovely and supportive through the whole process, which was new for all of us siblings. When mom passed, the person they sent to take her from her home was courteous, respectful and warm...and ensured our comfort throughout the process (suggesting we leave the room for certain moments, etc). All paperwork was handled remotely through an online system, so it was easy to facilitate signing of documents without having to go anywhere. When it came time to discuss mom's cremation and disposition of ashes, again Megan came through with all the right suggestions. She was expedient in completing death certificate paperwork and final choices for urns. (again, all done through an online system, so we didn't have to stop other things we were dealing with to go anywhere for this part of the process) When mom's death certificates arrived, and I had the chance to visit Care Center in person, I felt like Megan was a caring friend. And when I decided I couldn't handle dealing with shipment of urns to my siblings on my own, she took over and completed that for me (that part wasn't cheap, but worth it for my peace of mind). If you're looking for a caring and dedicated team to help you through one of the hardest parts of life, look no further and call Care Center.
