Needed screen for iPhone 6 replaced. Direct Repair installed new screen in about 40 minutes. A week later screen was coming away from the phone all around the edges. Turned out to be a warrant issue, nothing at all to do with the installation. Direct Repair took care of it immediately when I brought it back in. Would come back here for service again. read more

These guys are legit. EXACTLY as the reviews said: I dropped it off, they said it would be 30 mins. I left and milled around until I got bored. They're okay. I came in to have a new hard drive installed into my HP Pavilion desktop. I called for a quote prior to coming in and gave them the exact model and make information. Not only did they try to charge me more than the price originally quoted, but they managed to put the back of the computer on wrong, which prevented me from turning on the computer. I had to take it back the following Monday for them to put it on correctly. The computer began to malfunction the following week, so I had to bring it back a third time just to make sure nothing went wrong with the brand new hard drive. Not only did another technician check to make sure it was working correctly free of charge, but he also gave me a ride home so that I didn't have to carry it alone. They were very polite, helpful and reasonably priced. read more

I cracked my screen on Thursday and thought my phone was irreparable. My phone carrier has a pretty high deductible and after trying to get an appointment for the Genius Bar I stumbled on Direct Repair. I stopped in Direct Repair, they told me it would take 30 minutes so I grabbed lunch at Chipotle. When I got back my phone looked Brand New!!! They replaced the screen, but it wasn't the right screen for the 4S. After a couple of visits, and some frustration, one of the techs finally said "to hell with it" and gave me the screen from his 4S. It was a noble gesture and I appreciated it, but the experience was time consuming. read more

It was my first day ever in Chicago on business when i couldn't get my newly acquired second-hand iPhone 4 to charge. Direct Repair spent two hours trouble-shooting the issue. Somehow it started working again even though no problem was ever found. Asking how much I owed them, I was told "Well, we really didn't do anything so I can't charge you anything." I was even graciously talked out of a sale being told the item wouldn't work for a replacement phone if I got one. I'm totally not satisfied with my experience with this store and its owner. He is not at all friendly. I repaired an ipad screen here but it was not properly sealed so after a while the edges came out. I admitted I did not go back to the store immediately coz it was such a minor problem. When I was free to do so, he said it is out of warranty and he was going to charge me $80 to get it properly sealed! I really don't know whose problem this is, you guys be the judge. But one thing I know pretty well, these guys don't know how to serve the customer! read more

I brought my cracked iPhone in to Direct Repajr after reading reviews here. The man greeted me in a friendly way and said my phone screen would be replaced in just 30 minutes. And it was. When I returned I noticed the hue was slightly off -- and only is noticeable because I use my phone in my art practice. He gladly and quickly tried another screen. I thought it looked a lot better. However there was an almost indiscernible difference and since I am soon leaving for China for a project where I would heavily be using my phone to document research, I thought it would be safer just to replace the phone, even if it's a lot more expensive. Direct Repair was so kind to put back my cracked screen in only 30 minutes and refused to let me pay a restocking fee. He also gave me helpful advice. I would be ecstatic to bring back my other devices to this business -- what a rare experience to be a high maintenance customer and yet I was treated with respect and generosity. read more

I had a problem with my LG Nexus 5 power button, and found Direct Repair when looking for phone repair shops. I was impressed with their reviews, and called for an estimate to replace the button. They gave me a quick estimate, and a fair price, so I took my phone in. But when I came back to pick it up, they told me that they had taken it apart and found it actually DIDN'T need a new power button, just a minor adjustment. When I picked up my phone, I could immediately tell the button was now working perfectly, but when I asked how much they would charge for the repair, I was told NO CHARGE!!! WHAT??? Seriously, I was SHOCKED! They could have easily put in a new button and charged me for it, or even just adjusted it and said they fixed it, and still charged me! And either way, I would have never known the difference! But instead, their honesty and ethics have earned them a new, loyal customer for life, and prompted my first ever review on Yelp! The guys at Direct Repair are the best! It's nice for a change to know you're dealing with someone who isn't looking to just screw you over to make a buck, and they're the ONLY people I'll take my phone to when it needs repair. read more

From communication to the repair itself, Direct Repair deserves five stars across the board. I had brought in my fried MacBook with hopes that they could recover and extract all of my old data and information that I had feared was lost when my computer decided to die out. Being a 2012 Apple product, my hard drive had a weird component to it, forcing Direct Repair to order the connection to extract all of my data correctly. They did this for me, without charge, or extra cost in service. Throughout the process, Andrew and Alex updated me on everything that was going on (via phone call and text). Don't let Apple fool you with this simple process, in which they want to charge you $200 for data extraction, when Direct Repair will charge you only $50. I couldn't be happier with the service I received and will definitely be returning for all electronic repairs and will be recommending to any friends. read more

service was fast and prompt and i used a yelp coupon that gave me a good discount for getting my iphone 4 lcd and screen replaced. my only problem was, after about 2 weeks, my screen started having these weird horizontal lines in it, kind of like it was detaching. it's still functional, but it's just bothersome. overall though, great place for cheap and quick smart phone fixes! read more
