I thought I needed a new muffler for the insane noise coming from my much-loved and aging Volvo, emailed several places around for info/estimate and received a reply from Lisa in 5 minutes. 5 MINUTES! I live a mile away, drove right over and was assisted by Brendan. Since it was lunchtime, I was told I would receive a call as soon as everyone was back and was offered a ride home (very sweet, but it was just a quick walk). Darren called me an hour later with the news that my muffler was good.... but I needed a new catalytic converter. Yikes. He ordered the parts right away (2:30 on Thursday afternoon) and my car was ready 24 hours later. They have photos and videos of what your car needs, Darren and I talked about how this is a great, honest tool for everyone involved (EVERY business should have this!). I am grateful they could get my car in right away, and I'm confident I found a new place for all types of repairs. My first time here for an oil change. I never knew this place was here. I found it because of groupon and the great deal they are having for a fully synthetic or conventional oil change. The place is very well kept and from what i see on thier business cards, and from what Darren, the front desk service gentelmen says, they have been servicing thier local customers for 20 years. Darren, the man that greeted me when I came in was very professional and very knowledgeable. He was very quick at getting my information and getting my car into get serviced Besides just doing tires and oil change, they are fully equipped to do full-servicing to all makes and models. The entire service bay and garage is open so that you can see all work being done by the team to all vehicles. The waiting room is very up-to-date, clean and has very comfortable chairs for while you wait for your car. It is also across from a Dunkin Donuts, so if you want to grab some breakfast while you wait that's also an option. The only drawback that I see is that it is a very small place, so when I came initially, it was very hard to find parking. I ended up having to pull my car right up to the entrance of the garage entrance, which felt kind of uncomfortable, because there's a sign that says no parking. They are a very busy place, so you definitely need to set up an appointment before you come. The service was very friendly and was was done by 30min. read more

I asked Express Tire & Auto to swap out my snow tires. I believe that this was carried out sufficiently well. However, they did an inspection of my 2004 Highlander that I didn't ask for, and then proceeded to try to upsell me nearly $6,000 worth of work and 16 serious points that needed addressing. I think that this was dishonest and bogus. For instance, they told me I needed new tires and provided a picture of damaged tires. However, the photo was NOT of my tires. They said my air filter need replacing and whoever at Express took a picture of it reinstalled it incorrectly. None of the points that they told me I needed to take care of right away, are safety issues and/or true. I am an older single mother and don't like Express Tire trying to take advantage of me. You can make money without being dishonest. Maybe just stick to selling tires. read more

This was hands-down the worst experience I've ever had. It was like walking into a mental institution. I needed two tires. Simple one would think? Not for express tire... I called ahead and spoke with Darren. I give him my tire size and make an appointment for the next day, as I work across the street. I thought this would be so easy! Bring me car in, everyone is so nice, we talk, I give the tire size again. Darren leaves my keys in my car and I walk over about 6 to pick my car up (they are closed for the day at this point) There are monster truck tires on the front of my jeep! Like wayyyyyy too big. They put 255s on a car with 225s!!!! Almost damaged my 4wheel drive!!! I call him immediately the next morning and he's not apologetic, he's insistent that this should never happen and I must've given him the wrong size. (Well you didn't notice the monster truck tires?!?) tells me to come back and they'll take care of it. I bring the car in, I'm ignored for a while and finally he says sorry and takes my keys. Tells me about an hour, I say thank you, and I ask about the price difference as obviously 225s are much less expensive, and I was charged for 255s. This is when Darren looks me right in the face and tells me he'll fix their mistake but there is no price difference!!! Wait what? So now my husband calls and is asking Darren what's going on and he begins screaming did you call here just to bust my fucking balls fuck you and hangs up. So I go over to pick my car up and I demand a refund. I'll pay for the right tires nothing else. Darren tells me to get out of his show room before he calls the police and throws my keys. What's the matter Darren are you afraid your customers are going to find out you're trying to rip me off? I yelled back at Darren to go ahead and call the police because he's robbing me, then he only issues me the bare minimum refund of the difference. Still charges me for mounting and balancing and yelling at me. This store is an embarrassment and I should know better than to go anywhere with express or jiffy in the title. Shame on you Darren, the fact you even decided to comment here is what's troubling. You had multiple chances to apologize that day, and I WORK ACROSS THE STREET!!! Instead you wanted to belittle me, scream at me and try to rob me. That sounds like a YOU PROBLEM. you gave me the minimum amount back you still charged me for mounting the WRONG TIRES and didn't even refund the correct amount. After getting a diagnostic at the Lexus Dealership and seeing the exorbitant costs for getting my brakes fixed, my friend recommended Express Tire. Darren is friendly, shows he cares about the customer and is upfront and honest about what work needs to get done (unlike some other places that will try to upsell you). In addition, I was pleasantly surprised that for any sort of minor work like air filters and wipers that I needed, they ended up doing that service free of charge as a 'thank you'. Don't go here. When I arrived after Express Tire charged me for two new tires, the tire light was still on. They told me to ride around for 15 minutes and the light would go off. It didn't, and I ended up with a flat tire in the parkinglot of another tire place in town, $500 poorer and with my car in worse condition than when I started. read more

Oh, I'm so conflicted but do want to share my experience. I had "5-star" experiences here for a good while, but then again I didn't get too much work done. A tune up and then the few odd things. Everyone that works here is friendly and accommodating, they have free loaner cars which they offer to you happily. They always fit me in when I needed something and would say "just come on down, we're here" which is cool. I hate having to schedule car appointments a week+ in advance. I found pricing on par with the Subaru dealership; however, this place was more convenient for me and they will happily give you a loaner whereas its like winning the lottery if you're about to get one from the dealership. Sadly, my problem took place on my last and final visit. I needed my check engine light off so my car could pass inspection. I have a very well cared for Subaru with 150,000 miles on it. They looked it over and then gave me the list of all things they needed to fix just to get the car to pass inspection... he priced it out at SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS. He then told me that I had two options: buy a new car, or put 6k into this one and it will 'easily' go another 150k. Of course I was shocked, and in no way able nor willing to pay 6k to get my car to pass inspection. At that time we were weeks away from our wedding and I had zero extra dollars to put into anything, never mind a huge car repair. I looked around on Yelp and found an independent car repairman in Watertown so I called to book an appointment. He had rave reviews so I crossed my fingers. I waited about a week for my appointment and he didn't have loaner cars but there was an Enterprise across the street so I just rented a car for the day. He called me many hours later and said he looked over my car and the problems that Express Tire declared needed to be fixed were all accurate but it didn't sit well with him, so he got on the phone with Subaru and went online to check out a few things and told me that due to an open recall ALL of those issues would be 100% covered by Subaru. This is really a case of one business making money vs another business helping the customer. I get it, I do; however, I'm always going to side with side that I feel is looking out for me as a person, rather than a job. Obviously I went to Subaru and got everything on my 150k miles Subaru fixed free of charge and paid my new car mechanic $150. $150 vs $6,000. Ugh. My car had both rear tires slashed and I was panicked that I wouldn't be able to have it fixed quickly. Just came off a 7 hr red eye flight and still had a 3 hr drive to get home. I called a few of the larger chain tire stores and was told they couldn't or wouldn't be able to help me out on the same day. I then called Express Tire and Lisa answered right away. It's a small world and getting smaller all the time . I have been hearing a scraping noise from by right rear brakes for a couple of weeks . I knew it would only get worse , so I decided to start here at Express. I was a little nervous and hesitant when we started talking about price ...Something came up and I was unable to keep the appointment we had for the next morning ....FF to Wednesday evening ....I'm at work , ( new job ) a regular customer is sitting at the bar chatting away with my manager .. she looked familiar but I thought it was because she was a regular .....Until I read the logo on her jacket..... Yup it was Lisa Chaira. from express tire !!! I felt instantly relieved when we started to chat about my car ...She was very knowledgeable and got the thumbs up from my boss I knew I couldn't go wrong !! I brought my car in the next day ....They gave me a ride to work ...There was a loaner car available as well which is a great convenience but unnecessary as I work close by and would only be parked all day... The whole experience was seamless ..As promised my car was not worked on until I was contacted and we discussed everything that needed to be done. I was experiencing a squeaking noise coming from my front suspension . After a quick search of shops in my area I came across Express Tire & Auto and the good reviews that were posted, "GREAT " I said ! My arrival was bright and early ( approx 8:30 am ) as they opened an hour earlier. I entered the shop and was pleasantly greeted by a young lady who's name I didn't get. I politely asked her if they were "behind" and able to help me out. The representative informed me that there was a car ahead of me but it shouldn't be a problem. I gave her a description of the issue I was having and expressed my hopes of having them take a look at it while I waited. She followed up with a few questions and reassured me I could return by 12 and they could take a look at it. An hour later after me planning to be there by 12 noon . I receive a text message with the offer to sell me a "safety package" for $68.99 where the technician would take my car for ride and offer any suggestions when completed. I explained to her again that I just needed a visual exception / on a lift and an estimate and a solution to rectify the problem. She than proceeded to inform me that test rides take time and the only service she could offer was the "safety package ". I informed her that this was unheard of in my 35+ years of owning a car that potential customers were being charged to have their car looked at... I informed her that I was disappointed an that I would take my business elsewhere ... Be aware........ This practice of theres is unheard of and its only an attempt to up sell me on services I didn't need or ask for !!!! I'll never go back nor will I allow any potential friends or family go there !!! read more

The tire on the right front side of my van looked like it was ready to pop at any moment. And I knew I had to do something about the shimmy in the front end at 65 because the vibration was starting to loosen the screws in my head. I believe the screws are loose because I was considering used tires. By the time you add in alignment and account for the much shorter life span and rolling the dice on quality, it's worth it to spend a few bucks extra for brand spanking new rubber. So I called a couple tires places. The first was $10 higher than Express Tire PLUS alignment. This was Monday at 7:43am. The 2nd call got me two truck tires mounted, balanced, installed on my cargo van for $264. Asked if alignment was included, Darren, the owner said, "we'll throw it in." Got there by nine. It took sixty seconds to check-in. Dismount the Hoopty mode. Grabbed my Goped Scooter out of the back. Flipped up the handle bar, made sure the fedora I wear backwards to look cool was pulled down far enough and scooted off in the direction of Starbucks and The Watertown Mall. Geez, from the looks of people in the burbs, you'd think they never saw a guy in a fedora on a scooter before! Came back a couple hours later wearing new sneakers. Yee-ha, Hoopty is ready to roll. Headed for the highway. Cranked it up to 85, smooth as glass. Me? Happy as a clam. I evaluate the experience as no BS, first-class shop. Noticed lots of happy customers. Called my friend Jen who lives a few blocks away to ask if she knew about the shop. Sure, she knows Darren. Agrees that it's a great place to go. As Arnold would say, "I'll be back." read more

Bought a groupon for Direct Tire & Auto service for an oil change and tune-up. Brought my car over here around 11 AM on a Saturday morning and dropped it off. Went and grabbed brunch at a diner with my girlfriend and then came back about an hour and a half later. Unfortunately, they were still finishing up on my car when I arrived (they said they were a bit backed up due to many the people trying to redeem their groupons), but they said it would only be 10 more minutes, and sure enough 10 minutes later my car was ready to go. The thing I really liked is that I got a full synthetic oil change, tire rotation, maintenance check, and wiper blade replacement (Never gotten complimentary wiper blade replacement with an oil change before!) all for about $30! I don't like dealing with car repairs or maintenance because I feel like most mechanics are trying to get as much money out of you as possible, and I am not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to cars and car parts. I felt like I got a good and fair deal, and they didn't try anything shady like encouraging me to get unnecessary maintenance on my car. (NTB always seems to get me to pay for something I don't need!) Minus one star for being a little bit slow on the service, but I would definitely bring my car here again. read more

I just got the other 3 tires done there and im so glad I did. I shopped around for price quotes and when I went to Express Tire he explained to me the differences in tires and what I needed for my car. I ended up going with them because they were honest with me when I felt others just wanted the order. I got 3 tires done and it took 40 minutes, it was so fast. I went to lunch next door and halfway through they called me and told me the car is done. My car drives so straight now!!! I love it. Was about to drive cross country and three of my tires had gotten quite leaky. Brought the car by Express Tire Watertown the day before and they quickly identified the problem and fixed them, which in my case involved sanding off corrosion on the wheels and resealing the tires. They also balanced the wheels. 24 Hours later, the car was all packed and we set out on the 90 only find something happened with the wheel balancing, probably a weight peeled off. Well this where Express Tire really stepped up. Brought the car back and they immediately took it in, rebalancing all wheels and giving the suspension a full check. All for free and right away. They were polite and professional the whole way. Never pushed hard to sell extra service either. Highly recommended! read more

Don't let the name fool you. Express Tire offers a variety of auto services, not just tire work! They are extremely pleasant and helpful to work with. The biggest advantage to using Express Tire is their free loaner car service. Ray asked me for my car keys and then handed me a key to their loaner car and said, "Now get on with your day and we'll call you after the free assessment is done." I was able to run errands, go into work for a little while and get lunch. Excellent customer service! They called me just like they said to explain what was wrong. They were very patient and even spoke to my fiancee before we gave them the green light to move forward. Since I had the loaner car, it didn't even bother me that it took a half day to fix my car. I recommend them if you are a busy person and if you neglect your car repairs due to not wanting to be without a car! read more

If I could give negative stars I would... I purchased a groupon to Express tire for an oil change, tire rotation, wiper blade replacement, and battery check. There was a long wait (1 hour) but the guys seemed nice enough but busy. I finally get the car back and the guy tells me that he couldn't rotate my tires because they were so bad he was afraid and we would need to get new ones, preferably right away at his shop. Oh no, not the tires! The husband wanted to wait because their tires were really expensive. Off we went. The next day I'm riding in the car and it smells terrible. At first I thought the smell was because I was behind a bus then because I was beside a truck. After awhile I realized it wasn't someone else's vehicle it was mine! Popped the hood and then I saw that they had not screwed on the oil cap. Oil was all over my engine and was terrible. The husband call Express auto and they say "oh well here's the number to a place that can clean it" What?!? No apology no bring it in we'll take care of it. They're lucky he's a nicer person than me. After the oil debacle there's no way I'm taking the car to them to service the tires. Instead I go to a place and they ask why I want new tires because the ones I have are really good still, lots of tread, etc. In other words I don't need new tires at all. Let's recap - Express Tire did not properly change my oil (seriously an auto place that can't correctly change oil?) they did not change my wiper blades and they wouldn't rotate my tires because they tried to cheat me into buying new tires. I can't for the life of me understand why this place is so well rated but I had a terrible experience. If you want to be swindled and receive sub-par service go here. First off, as soon as I picked up my car after a routine maintenance all the sudden my air conditioner stopped working and these had the nerve to deny they had anything to do with it. I'm so stupid to go to this spot again after my previous service where mysteriously my iPod disappeared from my car. I had this same intention on a recent Friday morning as I noticed a giant metal screw sticking out of my front driver's side tire. After confirming that my go-to dealership service station wouldn't be able to throw a new set of tires on until Monday at the earliest, I realized I was in quite a pickle. To Yelp! I found Express Tire & Auto Service, gave them a call, and 20min later they were handing me keys to a free loaner with the promise that my car would be ready by 3pm. Amazing service, courteous staff, and super accommodating...they're now my new go-to. I wish they hadn't left such a great impression on me that I could continue my routine of taking you Yelpers for granted, but alas. You win this time. read more

These folks are very nice and pleasant, but they tried to charge us about 900 bucks for a $150 job. My wife's car was making a clanking noise. We dropped the car off and they were very nice and professional, and gave us a loaner for the day. At the end of the day, they called and informed us that she would have to replace her struts and some other assorteds, for a grand total of 900 dollars. We got a second opinion. The second shop figured out the EXACT problem, which did have to do with the struts but did NOT require a total replacement -- $150. I shudder to think that if we hadn't gotten the second opinion, we would have been none the wiser, and $750 poorer. read more

When I walked in the two people at the counter were super friendly, helpful, and willing to listen (unlike the dealership where I bought my car.) I said I needed and alignment and I was praying an alignment was all it needed. They took my keys and offered me a seat & a newspaper. I sat down and looked outside about 5 minutes later expecting my car to still be sitting there but someone had already taken it for a test drive, impressive. The owner himself, Darren, warned me I might be waiting a while and came over to turn the tv on for me. He gave me the remote and told me to put on anything I'd like, I've never received service like this. Only an hour later Darren told me I was all set and took several minutes to go over specs with me so I could understand what had been wrong. I could not be happier. I have taken my 10 year old car to Direct Tire for several years now and have always been satisfied with the results. I've even bought tires there. I especially like the loaner cars since I only have one car. However, recently, I took my car in because of some noise in the front end, and although the mechanics found some important items to repair (e.g., rear brakes) and did the repairs adequately, my squeaking front end was apparently forgotten about. What a pain! I also learned that they stopped taking American Express, and I hate when that happens since it's my preferred method of payment. So I'll probably try another local repair shop, one that takes Amex!!! Follow-up: Took my car into to Sullivan Tire on Arsenal St to take a look at my squeak. Turns out (a) my ball joints are worn, so they greased them, and (b) they no longer manufacture the part, and they found a service bulletin stating so. Finally, they did not even charge me! Wow! Had I gone there first I would have not repaired my car and saved $1K for my down payment on another. read more

I had a horrible experience with the Express Tire in Stoughton. Had the head gasket replaced on my Escape and a fuel system cleaning done. When I picked up the truck it was running rough, so I called and expressed my concern that something wasn't right. The customer service manager said that it was likely running rough as the gunk from the fuel system cleaning was working itself out of the system. He said I should drive it for a couple of days and if it was still not better to bring it it back. I told him I was bringing it back right away. When I dropped off the truck, the check engine light was on and it was dripping oil. They said it was a faulty gasket and replaced it. The truck was still running rough, and after a couple of weeks going back and forth, I was told it needed new coils. Ok, fine. A couple of weeks later, I brought the truck to a different mechanic for something totally unrelated (between the lack of ability to diagnose the problem and some great effort to get their "expert" in to troubleshoot it, I'd had enough - it was feeling more and more like I was getting taken at Express Tire). I asked that mechanic to see if he could figured out why I was still getting oil drops in my driveway. He called me to say that the gasket job was a complete mess. The Escape uses a self-sealing gasket - no silicone is necessary - and the gasket in the truck was covered in silicone. I still had an oil leak because the gasket had slid out of its seat (due to the silicone) as the cover was being replaced. Also, bolts were cracked off and a vent tube had been broken off and reattached with electrical tape. I took pictures, had the mechanic write up the problems he had found, and went to Express Tire. I told the customer service manager that I wanted to be reimbursed for the work the second mechanic had done to correct the mess they had made. While I was there, the Customer Service Manager called out one of the mechanics and asked him who had worked on my truck. They came up with 4 names. After a couple more weeks of waiting for a response about my complaint, I was told my reimbursement offer was a check for about half and the remainder as a store credit. I was also told that the mechanic who was responsible for the mess had been fired (I wonder which one of the 4 was let go). I told the Customer Service manager that a store credit was of no use to me as I was never going back. So, I wrote a complaint to the Better Business Bureau - the Stoughton location proudly displays the "BBB" logo on the door. I was told by the BBB that the garage had closed down! I responded that I drive past there every day on my way to work and they were open. Apparently, the BBB had no record of them - so they could not be members of the organization. I never did get any resolution. My only consolation is that the Stoughton location has closed - I see it empty and the building 'for sale' every day as I go to work. read more
