I cancelled my direct tv the end of July via phone. Talked to two operators that were abusive and rude. I packed up the one box for one tv and sent it in via the ups store as I was instructed to do. I wrote a letter that I turned in with the equipment about the lousy customer service. I have since been billed monthly for equipment that I sent back. The account was not closed when I called to close it and on an escalation ticket they resolved my issue and on the same ticket said they did not get my equipment. I have tried to find a shipping number but ups can't find it based on my name I have lost track of how many people I have talked to One lady who didn't speak very good English said they had my equipment. It sounded far-fetched, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. 10/24 - As anticipated, no response. Called again and spoke with Sierra who again, was of no use. I asked to AGAIN speak with a supervisor. After waiting for 1 hour 27 minutes (stupid me) with her coming back on the line every so often to assure me that the supervisor was coming, she disconnected the call. I guess that was her way of letting me know that a supervisor wouldn't be coming after all. Right back at you AT&T/DirectTV. I just cancelled my DirecTV service after being with them for nearly 3 yrs. Signed up at Costco for 2 yr term and we were never charged anything but what they said we would be charged in the contract. But we're now retired, going to travel a lot, unplug at home more and reduce expenses. Called regular customer service line, talked to Jacob, and calmly requested to cancel our service. I honestly explained why, he did what he had to do and offered instant discounts to retain us. I respectfully declined and he eventually accepted they were losing us as customers at this time. I guess I'm to receive an email with instructions on how to return the equipment at their expense this coming weekend or next Monday. I trust that will happen and if it does not, I'll update this. I give the experience 4 stars instead of 5 because it still took 25 minutes to accomplish the end result. But Jacob was quite pleasant and treated me with total respect and, of course, invited me back if our lifestyle changes to where their services might once again be valued. read more

We loose service of local channels once a week. we have to talk to people on the phone that don't know what they're doing. this is happened ever since we got new equipment back in October 2019. I was a customer for 8 years and finally got tired of paying almost $200 dollars for service that cut out everytime the wind would blow or it would rain. Since then I have received calls trying to get me to come back a couple of times a week for the past 10 months. Everytime I tell them I want them to stop calling me and they say they will make a note of it. Today I was told by them that "they can legally call and harass me for 2 years after I cancel". You get put into a phone loop that you cannot escape...if you enter you're phone number or account number, they say that don't recognize them! They assigned me the damn numbers... And now I get to my actual complaint...once again, they are doing account cramming, where they "give" you things that you don't want, only to charge for them at a future date. In this case, I have had HBO crammed on to my account...never ever wanted it, or had it! But now it is on there! After nearly 20 years as a DirecTV Customer, they can kiss my lily-white butt! For a brief interlude, we had another SATELLITE service, but came back to them. At the time we signed up again, they offered a 3 month subscription "free of charge!" for HBO, Starz and Cinemax. I told them no, we wouldn't use it, are not interested in the least, forget it. I didn't give it another thought, believing that they had done what I had clearly asked them to do. (Or NOT to do.) Fast forward 11 months. My husband opened a bill from them this morning. To my shock and horror, we have been charged $50.99 per month for the last 8 months! Now granted, I should have been looking at the bills, but quite frankly, I trusted them. The bill is paid automatically as well, so I didn't even consider that anything was awry. I spoke with a supervisor today, and the best they could do is credit us the days we had the premium channels on our package and one month's credit for the $50.99. That was it. Never mind they did what I specifically told them not to do (for this very reason)! Whether we got one month's credit or credit for the whole 8 months, DirecTV has betrayed our trust and they can never get that back, and we are looking at other options going forward. Netflix and Hulu Plus are looking pretty good. read more

When ordering direct tv i was reassured by the representative that we would get the Pac12 station. Come to find out Direct tv doesn't even offer it. Called to cancel service with them and was charged $230.00 for early cancellation fee. Criminal!!! read more

A Directv salesman came to my door on 4-24-18 and signed me up for their TV service without telling me that this involves a dish. Then he had me listen to a phone recording that mentioned the dish. The paper that I signed said that I had three days to cancel with no charges. I canceled the next day, 4-25-18, over the phone. Now I am receiving email, saying that they are coming out on 5-8-18 to install my dish. After spending 45 minutes today on the phone with them and having them drop the call three times, pretending that they were getting me to a person who specializes in cancelations, I emailed them twice. If they come onto my property I will call the police! They really don't care if they make you really mad at them, and I don't even have their service. Can you imagine how bad they would be if you actually were using their services? If they don't fix this soon I'll write a letter to our news papers to save other people from them! read more

My wife signed up for an account at COSTCO. The sales guy lied to her, so many times I could not keep track... [AND I was letting her handle it, while I checked out, so I was around for just a fraction of the time it took for the sales guybto run her credit, and have ber sign.] When we got home I looked at the small print- there was a ton of small print of course, and the worst small print statements are what I call the BLANK CHECK CLAUSES: phrases in tiny small print effectively stating time and again to completely ignore almost everything in BIG print. The presentation and the front sheet, and all the #s & $s were all BS- a farce, total lies!!! The worksheet where the sales guy showed just how much we would owe per month was- ESTIMATIONS ONLY, and therfor in no ways legally binding- what was very legally binding were the terms stating that the 2 year contract was locked in for 2 years no matter what DIRECTV decidedbtoncharge or acually provided. Other clauses stated that at anytime for whatever reason DIRECTV could (and of course would charge more and more.) PRICES AND SERVICES are subject to change, so costs could go up and quality could go down, BUT the contract states that no code increases or any crap that DIRECTV pulls is an excuse for anyone to ever get out if their 2 year contract. SO FOR 2 YEARS EVERY MONTH BEFORE YOU EVEN GET TO SEE YOUR BILL DIRECTV WILL CHARGE you whatever they like. The sales guy promised again and agsin that by signing the contract that you were "locking in the special COSTCO/DIRECTV low prices", and that you were getting the best deal because you eventually get a $200 COSTCO check, and... get this BS- COSTCO members all get to use a special customer service exclusive to other DIRECTV member were all the SPECIAL COSTCO customer service over the phone is where every call is handled by a special team here in Oregon. All of this were of course lies upon lies upon lies... so it is legal to lie, BUT a slaes guy lying to you to get you to sign a contract where the contract explicitly states the opposite of what you are being told is considered FRAUD both nationally and here in Oregon. The worst clause starts the last paragraph on the bottom of the last page- read that and no one would ever consider signing. Itnis a disgrace thst COSTCO assists DIRECTV on preying on trusting customers. Also just about any deal found online is better, than what is being offered at COSTCO. The $200- DIRECTV can afford that because the deal DIRECTV offers COSTCO customers costs the COSTCO customers more than signing up directly or any other deal online. You really only have 3 choices when it comes to pay television services and they all pretty much suck. DirecTV is more expensive than their competitors and isn't any better. They will lock you into a 2 year contract and then start raising the bill. All 3 big companies are notorious for these practices but DirecTV is even more expensive than the rest. Save your money and try streaming content such as Netflix. They claim to have the highest customer service but that is not accurate at all. They use a survey system that punishes the technician if the customer leaves a negative survey so the technician begs the customer to please leave positive feedback. Of course most people don't want to get their technician in any trouble so they just leave positive feedback regardless if they are satisfied or not. This gives the illusion that they have very good service but in reality they are way overpriced and treat their employees poorly. I would avoid this company at all costs. read more

I ALMOST DIED !!! Customer service in this world is getting so pathetic. Just when I think it can't get any worse, I call Directv and find out how low the depths of hell really are. Every experience I have with them is worse than the last one. All I needed to do was return a set top box that quit working. 40 minutes later, the person on the phone that I could barely understand still couldn't give me instructions on how to accomplish this apparently daunting task. Isn't outsourcing wonderful? I finally had to just hang up because my blood pressure was through the roof. I guess I will just stick the non-working box in the garage and let them continue to bill me for it. That would be preferred over a hospital visit. So why do I stick with them you ask? They do have the best TV service, although it's overpriced. And where else am I going to go? The customer service at any other place is just as horrible. I would like to just cut the cord and throw the tv out the window. But these days, even throwing the tv out the window isn't easy. They're just too big. Best I could do is get two guys to carry the tv and a third guy to hold the door open and walk outside with it and just sort of drop it on the ground. That's not nearly as dramatic or as satisfying. I asked the guy how they can continue my service without a dish and he told me to find a family member to take over the account. Not only did this company give us false information regarding pricing when we called to sign up for their service, they also messed up our installation date (should have been our first clue), causing us to waste an entire weekend day waiting for them. We were quoted a price for a package deal with internet and cable, and the actual price was nowhere near the price they actually charged. When we called to complain, we were told basically that our rep (Zac) could not possibly have quoted us that price, because he had no authority to price our internet package, as it was through Centurylink. So we are the liars, according to them, and "Sorry, your in a two year contract" (Another item they neglected to tell us) In short, DIRECTV employs people who do not tell the truth and will tell you whatever they need too to get you to sign up!!!And when you call to complainn, TOO BAD FOR YOU!!!! $380.00 to get out from under them.
