The Paisley Café is a little spot with great food options. Very friendly new owners who are doing great things in Orangevale. Something a little more elevated with healthier options especially if you are trying to not eat meat. Great options for vegans. Love their specials and the biscuits and gravy. Try their cinnamon rolls and bran muffins. Excellent coffee and tea options (they also have a specialty tea shop next door). Waiting to see what exciting new dishes are on the horizon. I used their online menu to order the veggie omelette. Delicious. The omelette and potatoes stayed warm and fresh on the 20 minute drive back to Carmichael. The restaurant was very busy (around 11am Sunday) and there appeared to be only one server- who seemed kind of stressed. Hopefully they can increase their staff. The cinnamon rolls and muffins looked delicious at the counter. It looked they had a delicious vegan menu- I want to try. The paisley cafe has been a staple in our household. We Would visit every week when ozzy and fam were running it. Food was wonderful, staff was friendly and fast. We would receive consistent service regardless of it being a pandemic and short staffed with only 3 employees! Cut to today, when doordash orders are being honored before guests sitting in the restaurant. The cafe is fully staffed but we are left Waiting over an hour for avocado toast (not much cooking involved there) and a cinnamon roll. We have tried and tried to continue to support this local business as the new owners took over. The inconsistencies prove us to be wasting our time and money. read more

Met a friend there for breakfast Sunday morning. The food was good although only lukewarm, not hot. They don't give free refills on soda. It would have been nice to have been told that when I asked for more soda. The same person that greeted me took our order. A few minutes later a woman who gave off manager vibes also tried to take our order. When we told her we had already ordered she looked angry and confronted the poor gal who had taken our order. Don't know what was said but it looked uncomfortable. Our main issue is that when I walked in, I was told to sit anywhere. I chose the cushioned seating against the wall. Although we were done eating, we were still chatting and maybe only one of 3 or 4 tables with guests, an hour after we sat down, we were told we had to move due to another party having reserved our table. If I had been told we only had an hour when I came in, I would have chosen another table. At this point, we felt very unwelcome and chose to leave and we won't be coming back. read more

One word- Inconsistent!! Such a bummer to write this review. I've given it 3x recently because they're under new ownership. One important thing is this. The food here is typically good. **Inconsistent but good. The service is mediocre at best. The wait staff does not seem to care about taking orders. Or checking on you after you've ordered. They seem to be under staffed at all times. Their hours are incredibly inconsistent. I keep trying to give them a chance and repeatedly am disappointed. Chefs create their own in house vegan meat alternatives--no pulling something out of a package and putting it in your plate here. Lots of options and very friendly and helpful service. Girl, I can eat. I am a foodie to the core and have 7 years of experience professionally cooking vegan food. When I don't finish my plate, there is something incredibly wrong with what I am eating. Everything on my plate was terrifyingly bland. I poured salt, pepper, hot sauce, and ketchup all over my food in desperation to add any kind of flavor to my dish, still not a spark of excitement. Everything tasted like raw flour, was dry as a bone, and like they were mortified to add any kind of seasoning to their food. I tried my friend's sandwich, one bite was enough for me to immediately chug a glass of water to add moisture back into my mouth. I am happy to tell the server my thoughts about the food, but never was I once asked how my experience was. I left so disappointed and hungry, knowing I'd never come back. I found myself here yet again after the Taco Bell on the corner's fryer was out and didn't have potatoes. I figured I'd give it a second chance. I ordered the Seasonal Veggie Sandwich and salad. My salad was beautiful with mixed greens, carrot ribbons, finely sliced radish, and a side of ranch. The ranch is wonderful. My sandwich...was exactly my salad between bread, with yet again bland, under-seasoned, chunky, dry hummus. That's it. Bad hummus, mixed greens, carrots, and radish? Why? Lackluster. I really don't know how you mess up hummus, weird. Yet again, I was never asked how my experience or my food was. I would be happy to tell them my thoughts, but I'm not going to push an unwanted opinion on a sweet server who doesn't care. I think it's safe to say that I will never be back, and I am sad about it! I found this place c/o YELP when looking for breakfast places in my area. The food looked so good I had to try it out for myself. This is a mom and pop shop in a Orangevale strip on Madison Ave and Main Street. I was greeted right away and told I could sit anywhere. I had a lemonade with the avocado toast which I added smoked salmon to. The smoked salmon came on the side. The toast was made from challah bread and smothered with fresh avocado and a soft boiled egg, served with country potatoes that were seasoned perfectly. We went to Paisley for breakfast only to find a limited menu dominated by bakery goods and preppy stuff like avocado toast. All I wanted was an omelet but the only one with meat was chorizo of which I am not fond. We both ordered the veggie omelette which came with hash browns and a choice of wheat or potato toast; not even an English muffin option. The menu says entrees came with choice of bacon or some other options I don't remember but the waiter said "no" not with the veggie omelette. Huh? Water was served in a plastic cup, knives for spreading butter and jam are available on request only. The processed cheese on the omelette tasted as bad as it looks. The omelette itself was undercooked and runny inside. I used Tabasco to give is some flavor. Potatoes were hard and dry inside. The jam was so tart as to mask the taste of the underlying fruit. No idea what kind of jam it was. There we ample number of servers who were constantly running around but service was not good. No ambiance to the place unless you count the huge water stains on the ceiling. Despite advertising "fresh food" this is mostly processed food more suited for airplanes. Today is the first day that Paisley Cafe served dinner. Wow, what a treat. My favorite breakfast/lunch spot just made a run for a favorite dinner spot as well. Lobster Mac&Cheese, corned beef, ginger carrot soup, blood orange panna cotta, cinnamon roll bread pudding, and creme brulee were all sampled. I hope this Wednesday night mid-week treat takes hold. I did a pick up order but my experience was lovely! I got their custom breakfast sandwich ; their portions are no joke!!! It was huge!! Everything about my sandwich was good quality from the English muffin, 4oz patty (I think it was really 4oz, I'm so full) , and fresh ingredients to add to the sandwich! I ordered the lemon poppyseed muffin but they were out. However the owner was kind enough to give me a blueberry muffin and another one! And also gave me an extra cinnamon bun! He was so generous! I feel bad for not even noticing until I got home all the extra stuff but I truly appreciate it! From the amazing portions, vegan options, to amazing price points I cannot recommend this place enough. It's a hole in the wall and has sucha comforting touch to it. This is a small cafe with impeccable, friendly service and really, really good food. We ordered a breakfast burrito and the Simple Paisley Breakfast (2 eggs, O'Brien potatoes and a biscuit), to go.
