The 3 stars is for the chicken fried steak. I'm sorry but It could use some improvement. The gravy was ok. The hash browns were ok. The sourdough toast was not good. For the price I paid I thought my food would have been way more better. IHOP's breakfast is better and cheaper. Maybe the chicken fried steak is not what this place is known for. They did say to try the burger and fries next time. Our server was very nice and attentive. That was nice and worth the experience alone. The waffle and pancakes were pretty good. Love the lodge! It's so cute and quaint and serves the best food. Our server was Penny and she made sure we were well cared for. I'm disabled and use a crutch to get around and I was sat at a table in the middle of the restaurant that was difficult for me because I didn't have anywhere to put my crutch, and having it put away from me makes me feel nervous. Leslie got me a table with a booth which was much better as I got to have somewhere to put my crutch and have to near me as well. Food is always fantastic here, great prices and good quality. I like to try new breakfast spots. I came out here from Rancho, based on the reviews. I'm glad I didn't come yesterday, because they would've been closed. She asked if it was my first time there, which it was, she suggested things on the menu, told me that the hashbrowns were freshly grated, the home fries were well seasoned, and the biscuits and gravy were very good. I'm trying to eat a little bit healthier, so I decided to go for the seasoned ground beef and veggie scramble. It came with spinach, mushrooms, onions, and bell pepper, which I asked them to leave off. I also asked for decaf, and she made me a fresh pot. The breakfast was fantastic! The ground beef was well seasoned, the veggies were good, and the eggs were just right. Not too loose, and not too tough. They must use a good quality, ground beef, because the dish did not eat greasy at all. Everything tasted delicious. I asked for fruit instead of potatoes, and it came with a nice side order of very fresh fruit. The biscuit I had with it was light and fluffy, the coffee was very good, and she kept my cup full. The price was extremely reasonable, and they do a military/veterans discount. There is a very small upcharge if you use plastic instead of cash. She told me ahead of time, and asked me if that was OK. Of course it was. I'm glad that she asked. Just a fantastic restaurant. I will be back. Thank you. read more

We both thoroughly enjoyed the country gravy it was flavorful. I asked for Tabasco sauce because country gravy usually needs it the flavor bump. The Lodge's did not need it.
