I googled gluten free places in Sacramento and the search told me that Sacramento had many options. I disagree. There are hardly any gluten free places in the entire region! I was in Portland a couple weeks ago and there are many, many gluten free establishments. With so many intolerant to gluten, you'd think there would be more. Thankfully Gluten OFF Bakery is here - though a bit far from my part of Sacramento. This family owned business is excellent. The restaurant has been furnished with love and care with beautiful green and wood tones throughout. There are thoughtful decorations all around the good sized dining area. In the front is the case where you can see pastry and cookie options as well as a whole drink menu. Most gluten free places focus on pastries and such, but to my surprise, Gluten OFF also had real food items on the menu. There were burgers, crepes (both sweet and savory), and sandwiches. I really appreciated this variety. I decided to go for the apple crepe on my visit and it was absolutely the correct choice. The crepes are nice and thin and they are dressed very nicely. The crepes honestly surprised me so much! It was made very well, was delicate, and didn't feel like I was eating something that didn't have gluten in it. My wife got the avocado toast with salmon and it was a hearty amount of food. They did not skimp on the avocado or salmon. It was beautifully presented and she enjoyed it quite a bit. We came in on a Saturday with our kids to try this spot. Service was very friendly and helpful. Lots of people working or meeting with a friend. We got a sampling of several items: lemon cookies, cinnamon pretzel, scone, and cinnamon rolls. Everything was so good! We loved it so much, we bought more to bring home! This was a fun place to check out. The first time we went here, the sugar cookies were so good. Crunchy edges and a soft middle. The sourdough bread was so good. We've been having their bread since they were at the midtown farmers market and now that they have a brick and mortar location, we had to check it out. We got a couple cookies, brownie, and a couple sandwiches. The sandwich was phenomenal. Bread came out warm and soft (not usually what you expect with gf bread) and it was killer. The owner saw our daughter doing one of the puzzles and he came over and was thrilled to see her doing it because they had just gotten the game section put in yesterday. Stopped in after an appointment in the area to grab some gluten free treats for a friend at work who has abnormal dietary restrictions. I got her a snickerdoodle cookie and I got one too. I just happened to catch them on day two of their soft opening, so dropped by to check things out! I didn't really get too nosy about the ownership and staffing details, but it seems pretty apparent that it's a small family owned business. The main theme here, as the name implies, is gluten free foods - breads and pastries as well as build your own sandwiches and pizzas. They JUST opened, so I'm sure the offerings will evolve over time as they get settled in and see what the demand will be. There's a wide variety of breads - most if not all of them start with a gluten-free sourdough base and then head off in different directions with modifications from the base such as garlic, cranberry-walnut, onion... just to name a few. I have no idea how many varieties they have overall... and I'm sure the list will grow over time. I tried a pizza, and it was decent! I chose ham, jalapeño and pineapple with red sauce. Yes, I'm that guy who sometimes has pineapple on their pizza - haha! Or maybe I did that just to tweak a few of you out there. The size of the pizza is 10"... a bit bigger than what a personal pizza would generally be... probably big enough to feed two halfway normal people. I ate more than half, but I had to push it a bit to get there... and I can put down some pizza! They did a complete remodel on the location - it looks very nice and has a very comfy vibe. The place is adorable, pretty affordable, and clean. The bathrooms were clean and nice. The bread on my sandwich was really good. Great consistency and flavor. We had sandwiches, a cherry tartlet, and a merengue roll. All were delicious. The coffee and tea we had were presented so nicely and tasted very good. I also grabbed a lavender latte (not my favorite one I've had, but still enjoyable), and a few treats to-go for the week: a pineapple bar, Rice Krispy treat, mini cheesecake, and a strawberry turnover. Thought we would try this place (again) since we had only been there once when they newly opened. Unfortunately not much had changed - I'm not quite sure how the reviews are so good but I'd save your money and take the extra 9 mile drive into Arden and visit Pushkins as their GF options are beautiful, fresh not stale like this place. Also, why does an establishment have a kiosk with "offering's" they don't have offered at the time. I would give this place zero stars if I could. As a family who bakes - I don't know how this place is still in business tbh. The case of actual available goods was visibly dirty, the offerings looked pretty old and taste the way they looked the first time we had tried. We are pretty sad as we do love supporting small businesses but will not come back for a 3rd try. Also, customer service needs some overhauling as how do you your patrons to wait 5min when it's 9:57 (10:00) . I understand the establishment opens at 10 but it's not like it's a 0700 opening . (Just a thought maybe have someone there who can open a tad bit earlier than running in at 5 min til opening (which we saw) to ensure doors are ready to open at 10:00. read more

It was our first time here to try out this gluten and dairy free cafe. The place was clean and the ambiance was modern yet cozy. There was relaxing soft music playing in the background. The temperature inside was perfect. My daughter and I shared a strawberry and beet salad which was very fresh and tasty. We got matcha lattes and cherry mini tarts for dessert and my boyfriend tried their cappuccino, apple tart and chocolate chip cookie and they were all good quality. Everything was served out of real cups and plates with real utensils, so you do not feel like you are on-the go or in a rush and can sit down, relax and enjoy your food. The service was good as well.
