We visited Ducali after seeing how busy it was a few nights earlier and expected a better experience. Unfortunately, both the service and one of the dishes left us scratching our heads. When we arrived, the restaurant was surprisingly empty, with only four separate small parties dining there. Maybe it was because they were playing a Paul Blart: Mall Cop movie on the TV. We were seated immediately, but our table was directly behind the host stand. We ordered quickly and started with the Pastore salad, which is described as pear, walnut, and arugula. What arrived was a cold salad buried under ricotta and an overwhelming amount of balsamic glaze. Not balsamic vinegar--sweet glaze. It was easily the most sugary salad I've ever been served. If you're looking for something fresh and balanced, I'd skip it entirely. To make it even stranger, the cold salad was served in a piping hot bowl. The Pollo Pesto pizza, on the other hand, was quite good and was the highlight of the meal. The service was where things got really odd. The employee who seated us seemed to disappear after a service bell was rung by the cook. The cook rang it again about five minutes later, then eventually came out looking for the missing staff member. When he couldn't find him, he delivered our pizza himself. My husband had already asked for his beer again when the pizza arrived, and only then did the other employee reappear and get reminded by the cook about the drink. The whole experience felt disorganized and unusual. If you enjoy salads sweeter than an overhyped cannoli, this might be your place. The pizza was good, but the bizarre service and disappointing salad made it hard to justify a return visit. read more

This is the AC Milan soccer team bar in Boston. My SO is a big fan of Calcio (Italian soccer) and had to stop in and take a look. We arrived on a warm, summer afternoon. Doors were open, ceiling fans providing a welcome breeze. There was one FOH employee on the restaurant side. There is also a smaller cafe side of the business. The small kitchen with pizza oven is in-between the two sides. The waiter sat us with menus. He was quite busy as the only one working the restaurant. He took a drink order and when those arrived we placed our meal order. He was keeping an eye on everyone, scanning as he made his way thru the diningroom, bringing waters to new comers and taking orders. My Pastore salad was very good. Fresh, nice dressing, good mix of flavors and textures, and large enough to share. The small pizza is big enough for two. Maybe more as part of a multi-course, shared meal. The menu is pub fare: pizza, salad and sandwiches, with an Italian touch. A small bar holds eight to ten seats. They offer a fairly good beer on tap menu. Seating is wooden tables and chairs. A glass wall at the sidewalk fills the space with light. A gender-neutral restroom is down the stairs. One stall has a urinal, two stalls have toilets. A sink seperates the stalls. There is no door to the resroom itself which is directly at the bottom of the stairs at the right side. Paid parking in a nearby garage or on-street if you can find a spot. read more

Let's start by saying, this place is the most underrated gem in the Boston area. Roman style thin crust pizza perfect charred and crispy crust. The beer selection is excellent, complementing any pizza you order. This is one of the best after game spots, or just a great casual place to hang with friends or a family pizza night. We wanted to grab a pizza from the north end and stopped into Ducali's. It was not busy and we sat at a table by the window. It's a fairly small place. I had a cold draft beer and we shared a small Polpetta pizza which has fresh meatballs. The menu says that it serves 1 but it's easily shared by 2. The ingredients were very fresh, especially the mozzarella. Our server was a nice young lady who took care of us. We had a nice lunch and would stop again if back in Boston. read more

Visited here last Sunday night. It was quiet so we were able to walk in and get a table no problem. We got the meatballs to split and the goat cheese salad. The piadina was the best, essentially a small wood fired pizza crust, enveloping the egg and melty cheese. As a self-proclaimed bagel expert, the bagel was a close second. I usually get coffee everywhere but something possessed me to not only order the lemonade (strawberry), but to also convince my friend to do the same. I took some Yelp reviewer tax and tried hers, the peach lemonade, which was even better than the strawberry. They simply were delicious and refreshing. I am not sure how long this review will be but it is a part of the series of "our visit to Boston in November of 2020". The weather was perfect mind you so again, I think the experience we had was amazing because it's normally freezing and outside would not be on the menu lol. This place was on my radar from the jump but with the wife and other couple we were with, overlooked it. I will have to be honest... when we finally made it to this place, it was on our walk home from our "bar hopping excursion" that day and was located just before the bridge and our hotel (Charlestown Residence Inn). With the rule of "you must eat if you drink" in Boston, we only snacked all day long because we didn't want to "eat" yet but drink. When it was time to make our way back to the hotel, this was A MUST HAVE SITUATION HAHAHAH!!! MY CHOICE finally was happening as we walked right in to be seated. It wasn't crowded at all and prompt service in a very Covid and clean area. We went with two amazing sounding pizzas and waited patiently. The wait wasn't long and finally........ out came HEAVEN! The pizza was perfectly cooked, thin crust, crispy but juicy with the toppings and just absolutely ROCKED THE HOUSE! It was so delicious I could have eaten the entire pizza myself. Maybe because of the fact that were were out all day and really didn't eat much that enhanced this????....maybe hahahahaha... but it stuck to my mind and memory and was truly great pizza at a great place and location. Ducali is a honestly very underrated around the north end. They are a great place to go to watch any of the games around Boston, or a soccer game if you are big into international football. They have great pizza, so far we have only had the burrata pizza. It has two huge burrata balls on the top and is covered in prosciutto and topped with truffle oil. Our waitress Marina was incredibly kind and accommodating, and added mushrooms and zucchini to the Nachos Italiano instead of salami to make them vegetarian. The spinaci tasted like garlic bread with spinach (I mean that in the best possible way) and the melanzane had great fresh tomato sauce with grilled eggplant.
