Update: since the fix, the truck has been kept mainly outdoors and has travelled the country and endured really cold temps (negative eight degrees) to really hot temps (of over 100 degrees) and the snug top is STILL performing great! Discount Camper has been on this corner for decades and I know a few people who have used them in the past with great results having nothing but praise. Unfortunately either the business has changed ownership or the standards have slipped quite a way from what they used to be. I used them in August 2022 buying a used shell which I thought to be a smoking deal until I looked closer checking their work. When I checked the work they did I noticed the the gate of my truck had dents where the tail cap was pried off and the brake light assembly had been cracked. When I reached out to Discount they claimed the damage was done after I left them and sent me a grainy out of focus picture from their security camera. After giving them a chance to make good and repair the damage they still refused saying they wouldn't fix the damage and there was nothing I could do about it. I purchased my Retrax retractable truck cover from Discount Camper Shells just a few months ago. I went to have them look at it again because the motor seemed to be having an issue and it was making a thumping noise as well as moving slowly. When I took it in they told me it was a manufacturer issue and had something to do with the the motor. When they contacted the manufacturer they seemed to not know what the problem was but suggested that they would send a clip in order to hold the cover in place, which "might" fix the issue. But that clip was going to take over 3 weeks and in the meantime I have to deal with the broken cover that leaks every single time it rains. I requested a new cover since I have only had it for a few months and I payed $3,500 for it, which for that much it should work perfectly. I understand that it might be a manufacturing issue, however I am extremely disappointed in Discount Camper Shells for not replacing the cover or working with Retrax to find a better solution then jimmy rigging it with a clip, which also takes way to long to come in because they don't know how their own product works. - Mark D. read more

This place used to be good. I've used them in the past for regular maintenance on my camper shell, the prices were very fair and the owner was very honest. A few months ago, I stop by to get a new seal for my camper. I noticed that ownership has changed, they charged me $150 for the service, which I thought was a bit pricey, but I figure, I needed it for my trip, so I got it done. After I came back from my trip, I started calling around to other businesses for pricing. Nowhere I spoke to was charging anywhere near that. Come to find out, they were charging me more than 3 times the price. I will not be back here. If you want to overpay for services, go here! That should be the slogan for their business. read more

Unfortunately the top hasn't held up to the quality I had expected and I've changed my rating to reflect this. The top has been leaking for some time now, the locking mechanisms from Snugtop have had to be worked on multiple times and now I can't even open the rear hatch as the locks failed while locked. The interior LED lighting fell apart, the rear sliding glass doesn't match the Tacomas sliding position (completely opposite, why!?!?) and the hydronic shocks on the rear hatch have been replaced twice in just a couple of years. The production quality of SnugTops is poor. I won't be using it on my next truck. It's unfortunate. Thought I'd found a solid top but that has not been my experience. read more

I screw up the seal by trying to close the latches while it was not fully closed.I call Allen and made an appointment to have the seal fix.
