In early May we had a neighbor's tree drop into our backyard, completely taking out our back fence. My husband is fairly handy so he went to Discount Fence with the basic information; type of fencing, length of damaged area and photos to show possible salvageable items. The service person talking him through what he needed, the best ways to attack the problem and a few "extra tips". Best part was the pricing was considerably cheaper than other prices we were quoted. On January 27th, I submitted a web request for a new fence project at our house. 2 Days later I received a response asking for a bit more specific information. I responded and then on Feb. 3rd I received a confirmation that they had received my information and that an estimator would be in touch. 3 weeks later I still had not heard from the estimator so I followed up with an email. I received another response on Feb. 24th that they would follow up with the estimator that day. As of this writing I still have not heard from the estimator. I have been attempting to get a quote since 5/17/21. I even assisted by providing another company's drawing in order to have an estimate without anyone coming out. No one has ever contacted me. I have reached out multiple times via email and multiple times via phone. Anne is always nice but unfortunately, that doesn't get me a fence. So today after trying to work with these people since September of last year 2020, Rick finally reached out to me. I tried to get on their "list" early in the season and had reached out back again this February. Since then I called a number of times and each time I was told the estimator would contact me. April 21st was the first I spoke with anyone calling me back. When I questioned why I hadn't heard until now, the guy actually had the gall to tell me it was my fault that they haven't been able to reach me. Seriously! He told me that he left me voicemails of which I had no record of in my phone log or voice mails. I asked why Ann hadn't informed me he was trying to reach me the several times I spoke with her he told me they don't share that information in the office. I highly recommend finding another fence company. These guys must have way too many people calling them and don't seem to know how to handle the volume. I have been trying to patronize this company for weeks now with several phone calls and I am not understanding why I can't get an estimator to come out to my house. I do have to say that the receptionist is super friendly which is wonderful but, it's very frustrating when I'm trying to support local and I I just can't seem to get them to come out to my house ...which is just a few miles away... in the same town! I am assuming that they are so successful that they do not need anymore business. Good for them but, not for me! I am off to find another company in a different town who can respond to me! read more

Hey all - Don't bother with this company. it took 2 calls to get a call back for an estimate. Then the rep spent 10 minutes grilling my husband about how serious and how soon we wanted the fence up, then made an appt to come over the next day, but did not show up or call. We are installing a $4000 fence, but it sure as heck isn't from these people!! read more

Gal in there was very nice, asked me the correct questions, took my information and promised that i would get a call for an apptmt shortly. Lori Reczek I consider myself to be somewhat hard to impress, but I have to say from the beginning to the end of my experience with Discount Fence I was just that, impressed. Although it took a little more then a week for someone to return my call, once Rick came to my home he was quick to make recommendations on how I could make the most of my space instead of following the existing fence line. He measured the lot and presented different options for me to select. Then came install day. Antonio, Hector and my apologies that I can't remember the third gentlemans name were absolutely amazing. They were meticulous with building the fence on site, they answered all of my questions, they laughed while they worked, listened to their music in my yard, whistled to the music all while continuing to work in a professional manner. It appeared as if they were very happy with their job. The partnership they portrayed was second to none and before I knew it my new fence was built! I really can't say enough good about the professionalism of this team and the better then expected end result. This crew should be commended for the work that they do and even in spaces that were tight to work they had enough pride to do the job right. The price was a tad higher than my previous two estimates, but I had a good feeling from the beginning so I selected them. I definitely made the right choice on this one and am completely pleased! No stars for discount fence. In 2010 I got three estimates for a fence. I went with discount fence . Installation was a nightmare, got through it, bought a pcv fence because it came with a lifetime warranty on materials. I had Rodney print that on are contract. Fast forward to one month ago- hardware fell off the gate. I'm called office for three weeks and left massages. . Finally spoke to Rich and told him what happened. He yelled" No there is no warranty on those materials" and said he'd have to charge me for parts and labor. I told him sorry, but materials are included and without hardware there is no gate. Now, I have to take alternate measures to get satisfaction, because he won't honor contract. All I can say is please don't do business with this company, unless you want an ulcer. read more

I called this company 2 or 3 times with no answer. I left 2 VMs explaining I was interested in doing business with them. No call back. A week later I visited in person. I discussed my needs with an employee and she said she recognized my name from the caller ID but had been too busy to return my calls. Their phone rang twice while I was there and she did not answer those calls either. She asked me to send an email to their estimator with additional info which I did later that day. 8 days have now passed and I have not received an estimate nor even a phone call or return email. This company is failing on business fundamentals, is unresponsive, and has lousy customer service. read more

I bought a new house in Lombard and needed complete fencing around 1/2 acre yard and a front gate. Everything was done professionally and they helped with permit process and design etc. The fence installers worked quickly and were finished in half a day and the fencing looks great and we get positive comments on our fence and customized front gate. Forgot to write this review when they did the job, but may have them back soon to add one more section of the yard. Recommend them highly! read more

I am only give it one star just in hopes for others to know to stay away from this company. I thought in good faith I noticed their work around Downer's Grove Park district. At a few websites they were ah ok. i was impressed at first because when the owner came out to survey the property he brought things to my attention, so I signed the contract. The project was "completed" nearly a month after what was agreed upon. Calls on my behalf were not returned leaving me wondering what happened. Customer service- does not exist. So it finally gets put up and the I see nails sticking out, boards not secured- literally falling off the post. Chunks of wood missing and boards cracked all the way to the center. In two sections I can literally fit all my fingers through.The owner disagreed and talked down to me. Sends someone out the following week, the guy comes and leaves within a few minutes- not even enough time for me to put my shoes on after hearing hammering. So I call Rick again, again the guy starts in with the dear and every excuse. Another guy comes out, actually knocks at the door, and attempts to fix the posts. Problem is it is raining. I say go ahead and go it looks secure. Owner comes that day because almost a month since they "completed" and I do not want to pay. I was told to let the wood settle and dry, and call in a month. Then the next day I see it. Its worse then before. Now I have nails sticking out at ankle level. Some boards were fixed, but not all. NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY, TIME, OR MENTAL HEALTH!!!!!!! read more

If I could give a zero rating I would. Entered into a contract with them on June 16th to install a gate on my property to be done while my neighbor was getting a new fence installed by them. Dispite my neighbors informing the sales person of our wishes they did not call us. When I was finally able to get a hold of him (after leaving messages) I was informed the order for my neighbors work was to be done that day. In order to be part of the order I had to sign a contract immediately to have the gate done at the same time. He was not able to come out to our house to take measurements, but said he remembered what is looked like and confirmed the measurements I had we sufficient. The gate I ordered was for a driveway gate and was told it would be steel enforced. So I signed and gave them the deposit. Well, they were late installing the gate on my neighbors property and the workers which showed up had no knowledge of my order. The job next door was huge and took 3 days to complete, so I waited to talk to them on the second day. At that time they said it would be installed next. I waited and talked to them on the second day and was told my gate would be next. Well, that didn't happen and I called them to complain about this and the fact the gates installed on my neighbors property were cheaply put together. I was assured that I would be contacted and the work order contract would be reviewed for accuracy before any work started. After at least ten phone conversations and several days of waited I asked to cancel the contract. They said, okay but you have to forfeit half of your deposit not admitting to not honoring they side of the contract. I am considering legal action against them since they refuse to talk to me or give me my money back. DO NOT USE THEM, FIND ANOTHER COMPANY. Latest update, almost three months since I first requested a refund of my deposit. No call back or refund. Each time I called they promise me a call back to discuss. Finally received a call back from Rick the owner. He started to yell at me when I tried to explain my issues with his company and Rodney. Then proceeded to hang up on me without being willing to hear my point of view. Still no refund, not even a partial refund per there estimate. read more

After calling several more times and leaving message Rick called me back and told me he would get me some numbers in 3 more days as he had to call multiple vendors. I told him I've already been waiting over a week and he laughed and told me there was nothing he could do. I asked for the boss who he said was Ron but he told me Ron's unavailable. Put a call into the office and didn't receive a call back until over a week had passed. All I wanted was for someone to come out to my house and take measurements so I could get an accurate estimate. Person on the phone gave me a hard time about sending out someone for an estimate claiming I was "demanding a free service". I guess they really don't care about customer service if they aren't even willing to give estimates. The man on the phone just wanted me to place my order with them without an estimate. When I tried explaining to him that it doesn't work that way, he gave me attitude. Then proceeded to tell me that Discount Fence was not interested in my business. Thats fine... Over-promise and under-deliver seems to be their motto. They were late with the installation dates promised, and in the middle of the project informed me that if I wanted it done the way it was ordered, and additional $1200+ would be required for four extra posts and two sets of boards. After the project was completed, there were three extra posts and an entire set of boards left over. I spoke with Rick (since Rodney refuses to return messages), and rather than seek a solution, he informed me that the extra materials were extras that we didn't pay for and therefore they wouldn't give any refund, not even a couple hundred dollars. It still makes no sense to me. This was on a fence that was over $16,000. They would rather argue and blame the customer than seek a solution. This was after they were several days over the promised installation date. My neighbor tried to use them as well, and they promised they would time his order to match mine. That didn't happen and two weeks later they still haven't returned his calls. The workers were diligent, but the owners are very difficult to deal with, especially after you've placed your order. Please learn from my experience and do not give this unprofessional business your money. read more
