A lot of places that have this many people waiting you'd usually experience frustration or irritability however the staff at Discount were amazing. On task, friendly and polite and treating each customer with importance. Matthew was who helped me personally with my vehicle. I needed a new tire due to a tear and a repair in another. He got me on the schedule quickly. Super friendly, very professional and made me feel I was in good hands. A customer walked in and he knew their car without checking which I thought was impressive considering how busy it was. They got my car finished before the time they advised me and when Matthew saw me leaving he checked in that I was happy with everything from today. What can typically be a mundane way to spend a weekend day, the discount tires team. I would definitely recommend getting 'The Certificate' as a new tire cost me $12.99 and that covers me for another new tire incase I get a tear in this one. read more

We actually called this store by mistake, and sooo glad we did! We had purchased a tire warranty thru Discount Tire for our new Tesla, and the factory tires had worn down after only 30K miles. This is typically a manufacturer warranty issue. but Manny at this location gave us a generous credit for the worn tread toward new tires. This store was a bit out of our way, so we called our regular Discount Tire store to see if they could match it, but they wouldn't even consider it. Manny saved us several hundred dollars towards the high end tires we wanted and got our business for helping us out. Additionally, we were in and out of there with 4 new tires in about 40 minutes. I was in a bind this morning as I had come to discover I picked up a bolt. These guys truly know how to do this thing called customer service; I was astounded at how friendly everyone was! There is plenty of parking which is so nice, usually any kind of automotive shop doesn't offer this. As soon as I walked in I was promptly greeted & we went straight to my car. I explained what happened & they assured me they could handle it no problem. After providing some information I was given a receipt (free patch) & a timeframe. This tire shop is top notch. I rolled in a Kubota tractor tire and they ordered a new pair for quite a bit less than the dealer (who wouldn't install them but were also honest about my options). While I was there the Nelms crew rotated my truck's tires for free, although I paid a bit extra to have them balanced. Everyone was honest and respectful and didn't even talk much trash about my crusty old tractor tires. Real talk though, if just one or two of your tires are on their wires and you're on a budget go to a used tire shop. Discount Tire will always recommend the proper service (or replacement), and it's not always cheap. Replacing all four with new tires is the best option, but it's not an option for everyone at every moment (if your vehicle is AWD just put it on credit, sorry but mismatched tires with all wheel drive will only lead to way more expensive drivetrain repairs). I hung out in the shop for a minute and eavesdropped quite a bit, they were just calling things as they saw them without trying to upsell. Good folks! read more

I brought in a flat tire which was punctured by a small screw in the middle of the tread. They told me the tire was no good due to driving on it flat, and that I'd have to replace it. In fact I only drove on it about 10 feet out of my driveway and then back! Local tire shop turns corporate up charging money grab. I recently moved and this became the closest tire repair place to my home. The first time I went there I was told I needed two tires when only one had a slow leak. (Of course both times the tire could not be patched or mended something they don't seem to even do there any more.) Without him even looking at them I was told I needed new windshield wipers (apparently their newest money grab). Luckily my guy was green and when my answer was "no, mine work just fine" he dropped the issue. I noticed the con artist in training was ringing up a second tire without my permission and I put a stop to it when, while he told me it would only be marginally more, I could plainly see on the screen it would literally be twice as expensive. When I finally threatened to leave the head rip off guy/manager came to tell me he could magically cut the price of the second (unnecessary in the first place) tire in half. Fine, whatever, I just needed one tire but this is a local place I used to respect so if they need to move tires so be it (at the time I would rather give them my money than some southern Cali guy who raised my rent). Cut to my second visit. I made the mistake of being honest and telling them the tire which now had a slow leak was not one of the two they had just sold me. BIG MISTAKE, and sadly for me this time "manager up charge" was the one that checked the tire out. He proceeded to inform me that "the nuts on my tire would need to be replaced" as mine were "bloated and had expanded to a size so big their tools would not fit them." That's a new one, but whatever, it's the last time I'll ever go to this location dispute it being in walking distance. ("You can't put a price on an honest mechanic." - Jerry Seinfeld) I offered to take the nuts off with the tire iron in my trunk and was told "getting them off was only half the battle," getting them back on would somehow be an impossibility. Thus this tire would wind up costing me one and a half times what the first slow leak tire cost - negating the first visit's "discount". (And they magically were able to remove my tire's nuts with their supposedly tiny tools I can only imagine match the ones in their pants) They were busy and they over estimate how long it takes to change a tire so they get shining reviews from naive white people that don't see any of the scams they newly have going on. I'm too old to fall for that lame attempt at good customer service (under estimate to give the appearance of over performing). I live in a city full of Airbnb-ers, time is no longer the commodity it once was here (Austinites now value breaks of not dealing with Californians over handling their online app complaints). This was when I realized the biggest scam they have going; it's the floor set up. Every chair faces the cash register (or is at least in ears reach of it). So they walk you over to a cardboard chart and tell you how hard it'll be for them to sleep tonight if they let you drive off with your tire tread in the yellow... how cheap their prices are... how great their new windshield wipers are... and then the customers waiting and facing you put the same pressure on you that you feel in the convenience store line; if you turn down their wipers or new nuts you're made to feel like you can't afford them/have no nuts yourself. So unless you feel like being overcharged, sold things you don't need, emasculated, and pressured into unnecessary purchases I would avoid this place like dirty 6th street once you turn 21. (They didn't even give me a valve cover for one of my new tires ) read more

Always primo service at almost every Discount Tire I ever go to and this location is no different. They are always busy, so making appointments for anything will help get you in and out faster. I've taken both of my vehicles here and gotten good service every time. I even brought the vehicle with tires from the dealership for a flat. Dealership warranty was over and wanted $30 to patch it up. I declined and made an appointment for the next day at this location and they took care of my tire for free in about an hour or so. I would not recommend this place for the following reasons: 1. Did not receive a call or text when my truck was ready. I had to call to confirm it was ready to be picked up. 2. My truck windows were left down for an undetermined amount of time, thankfully there was no rain that day and it wasn't stolen. 3. The day after the installation, my steering wheel began shaking at 60 MPH indicating that a wheel is out of balance. This service "should" have been included when the new tires were put on however it was not done. 4. I went to a different location to correct the issue and they advised that none of the wheels were balanced and that they would be in contact with this location to discuss the issue. They are understaffed, the world is understaffed right now, so I understand but not doing the job correctly is something else. read more

The customer service was quick and friendly. As soon as I stepped out of my car, there was an associate already walking over to me. He told me that he could get new tires on my car pretty quickly since there was no wait time, and his words were true. I was out in less than an hour with four new tires. Service was immaculate. However, there is one very big problem. The information screen that faces the customer line is a HUGE safety concern. Displaying a customer's personal information to the public, (including phone numbers and addresses), is a ridiculous thing to do. I've heard so many complaints over this, and all they say is "The company wanted this way". Do better corporate. Add in the fact that associates sometimes leave their stations, the customer's info is left unattended on the screen for minutes at a time read more

My experience was so bazaar it's hard to put into words. Needed my tire plugged because it had a screw in it. They're close to where I live so I ran over and dropped off my truck. They said they'd text me in two hours. 3 hours later I call them and they told me they couldn't plug the tire. They took it off and put my spare tire on. I come to get my truck and it's parked across the street from their lot. They give me my keys and tell me my tire is in the back of the truck. I return to my truck and look at my tire which still has the screw in it. Hubcap is missing. I return to them and they dig it out of their garage and hand it to me. Had my tire plugged somewhere else and it's fine. Discount Tire sucks. Don't go to these people. Terrible customer service. Didn't communicate at all with me on what was wrong. I just left this discount tire and it was one of the easiest, smoothest, most customer friendly experience I've ever had with car maintenance. Granted I called prior and discussed the best tire options for my car. I also had an appt that I showed up to approx 10 min early. The car was completely done in about 40 min. Staff attitude couldn't be better, and let's face it, selling and busting tires can be a pretty thankless occupation. This location has always treated me well. I remember one time when I'd been out furniture shopping in North Austin with my folks and got a carpet knife in the sidewall of my tire at the Oak & Pine Superstore. It was nearly closing time on Saturday for this location and my replacement tire was a special order not in their stock. Nevertheless, they found a decent equivalent size spare among their used tires, and mounted it on my rim so I'd have a spare until the order could arrive. The new tire arrived on time and they were equally efficient about the replacement. All I owed was $20 for the shipping of the replacement tire and a tire certificate on the new tire. Like the Ben White location, they can get really busy on a Saturday afternoon, so go early in the morning for fastest turnaround. read more
