I have purchased over 10 sets of tires at this location. I brought in a truck yesterday with two slow leaking tires. Alex came out to look and basically told me to go elsewhere. He claimed if he pulled the tire off the rim and was unable to safely fix the tire, he wouldn't be able to mount it again. This would strand me of course. Not the response I expected to hear. Over all, it just sounded like he wasn't interested in helping me out. I get that they don't want the liability of sending someone down the road unsafe but really! I'm not giving them the ability to strand me or try to sell another tire based on their discretion. I don't think so. Too bad the lost a $1500 sale on this truck when I need tires in a few months. Not going back. They just lost a 20 year customer. read more

Update: My car was given back to me out of alignment. The manager emailed me after seeing my review and told me that he would be calling me soon to see how they could make things right. It's been almost 2 weeks now and no phone call from the manager. I've had great experiences with the free air check station so I decided to bring my car here when I had a nail in my tire. I made an appt for 11:45 and arrived at 11:30. I waited in line until 11:47 before someone finally acknowledged me. In the meantime, while in line, I watched a guy at the front desk answer multiple phone calls while never acknowledging the long line of people in the store. The rep (Alexander) finally greeted me. Alexander checked the tread on all of the tires and came back and said they were all dangerously low. To make a long story short.... it took me repeating myself MULTIPLE times that I only came prepared to replace one tire. I also had to repeatedly say no to their credit card. All the while Alexander was giving me his "honest opinion for my safety" since I'm a female. They also automatically added on their warranty to my bill. I caught it because I was paying attention and had to ask him to remove. Then he zeroed out some other charges so it worked out to the same amount with the warranty. I called when they first opened in the morning at 8 and they had the $55 tire in stock. When they checked at 11:55 all those tires had been placed on hold.... how convenient. Bottom line: I had high expectations for this place after all the great experiences I've had. I am in the waiting room feeling utterly disappointed. I did give 2 stars because the guy on the phone was very friendly and helpful. I'll have to update my review when I actually get my car back and after I speak to a manager later. read more

went to slaughter lane location for new tire and rim. picked up car in a few hours and was told wheel cover was not on. went home and found out cover could not fit because tire valve would not align to spot on wheel cover. returned this morning and was told the cheaper rim could not fit with wheel cover, but a "honda" rim couof be ordered for $200. geez, why was this not explained to me first. solution: go buy a drill-saw to cut new hole for valve, then have tire bolts taken off and cover mounted. instead-- I found a cash only tire place on so. I always buy my tires from discount tires and usually go get the pressures checked at different locations. I come to this location and it takes them 15 minutes before I get out of my car to see if anyone would even help me do an air check. They said they would be right there with me soon and it takes them another 15 minutes before they even do it! This is ridiculous. I've gotten tires checked before waiting no more than 5 minutes at other locations. This ones needs better staff and management. I can't imagine what the wait is going to be to get my tires rotated. I'm a very upset customer! If it wasn't for the fact that it's summer and I get emails from discount tires to get my pressure check and that I was in this neighborhood I would had left already. read more

When I pulled up to this store, the line of people waiting for service was alomost out the door, and I thought "this will take forever just to inquire if my tire can be fixed, or needs replaced." Well, the line was for good reason: This place rocks! We were all greeted...then individually with a smile and handshake...and within only 5 minutes (because due to the line, additional employees were summoned to the front counter) my tire was being inspected. It was beyond repair, which I already knew but that's how you learn about someone: Ask a question that you already know the answer to. Soooo, having told him my requirements for new tires (no road noise) he recommended tires which weren't all in stock at this location, but before I could even finish my Starbucks coffee (which they provided) the full set had arrived from a nearby location. Now, sitting in a full waiting area and eyeing a garage where every bay had a car being worked on in it, I settled into what I thought would be a long wait. I had come prepared with the local Sunday paper...the Sunday New York Times...the current daily paper and oh yea, more of their Starbucks coffee. I had barely finished the daily local paper, and was reaching for the Sunday version when my car was brought into a bay, and work on it began. Wow, I thought while picking up the local Sunday paper yet remained in my seat for the duration... ...however, the wait wasn't long, and before I even had a chance to pick up the Sunday New York Times I was called to the front desk. I feared this would be some sort of bad news, a delay, or additional up-sell attempts. To my surprise I was handed my keys while my car, with new tires installed, was waiting for me by the front door. I replied "Thank goodness you're finished fast, now I can get my spouse's car with new tires home before they go to work, and I can rescue my truck from their impending bad driving." Bottom line: In the time it takes to read the newspaper, your car will have a new set of tires on it, and nothing feels as good as driving on a new set of tires! PS: The new tires they chose for me are whisper quiet. That may be good, or bad, because now without the constatnt humming sound of the previous cheap, worn tires, I can hear my spouse while we are driving all the way to San Antonio...Galveston...Houston...! I have been a customer of Discount Tire for over a couple decades, mostly the store on Tatum & Bell in Phoenix. 4601 E. Bell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85032. As a former manager and business owner myself, I gotta say I'm a bit disappointed in the store manager Ty. I have noticed this a few times...It seems when Ty doesn't know how to speak with an employee he escalates the situation then blames it on the employee by firing them. Most of these employees he fired I noticed have great potential. I think Ty should realize hiring is a balance between hiring staff whom already possess the necessary skills and hiring staff which need to be trained. When we hire young men and women and pay them a lower entry level rate we should expect to put in more time into training these young men and women to work well in their position and help them learn and improve their customer service skills. When we hire staff whom already have all of the necessary skills we should expect to pay them a higher rate. Creating and escalating a situation could be considered work place harassment or violence among other categories. Everyone has the right to a safe and pleasant work environment. read more

I made an appointment at 12:45 got here 10 mins early but They really dropped the ball. It's 1:45 and they just took my car into the bay to work on it. What's the point to make the appointment. ***update*** The manager talked to his guys to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone again The person that took my "appointment" talked to me, apologized and took care of the expenses and I appreciate that. Just had a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports put on my 2013 Mustang GT yesterday. I've been dealing with Discount Tires for at least 20 years and have never been disappointed. The pricing is always more than I want to pay, but I'm into high performance & will not settle for less. I now shop at the north Austin location and again had a great experience. Nick who was very cordial & knowledgeable, got me set up with these superb tires. Installation took less than an hour, and I'm very pleased with my new tires. I really like having a Discount Tire near where I live and this one does not disappoint in the Discount Tire experience. The employees are courteous and patient, especially when I pepper them with questions that reveal just how little I know about cars & tires. TIP: MAKE AN APPOINTMENT IF POSSIBLE. I really appreciate that Discount Tire respects the appointment slot - I've been to some auto places where having an appointment doesn't get you anywhere. Two times already I've brought cars to get new tires with appointments and been in and out within the hour. Thank you Discount Tire! If I did have a complaint, it would be that it takes a while for someone to come put air in my tires when I pull into the bay, but hey, this store is constantly busy and I get it, I'm just there for the free air! Have had multiple negative experiences at this store. Will not return. I realize my attention to detail and extreme care of my car is not how everyone approaches service. If your car ranks up there with your pet, kid, or spouse in terms of how you treat it, I'd find somewhere else to install your next set of tires. Pros + quick service + good selection of tires + decent prices + free patching on tires bought from them Cons - quick service translates to sloppy work (scratched wheels, inside-out tire mounting, over torqued lugs, stripped studs) Yep, I've had all this happen at this location over 3 separate jobs. - sales acts insulted when asked if they can do the job without marring wheels - then they proceeded to scratch every wheel, x4!, on the job!!! I'll give them credit, every time I've been unhappy, they have tried to fix the problem. But, after spending $$ on tires, the last thing you want to do is worry about repairs on issues that weren't previously there (your time is $). Like I said, I can appreciate the masses of people that think this place is incredible, but for those that have a prized auto, I recommend shopping around. read more

DO NOT COME TO THIS LOCATION!!!! I am extremely disappointed in your location and cannot believe I am even having to write to you. I came in today to get a simple tire rotation (I am a long time customer with many vehicles and sets of tires). When I walked in I immediately (and clearly) let the gentlemen know exactly what I was there for. He said, "no problem, I'll get you in right away." Great! After he seemingly couldn't find my mileage on my car (5 minutes) he returned and when he asked how many miles I had I said 125000. He told me are you sure, i need it exact. I said you were just out there for five minutes, didn't you see it and he admittedly said no i did not. I told him to put 125k, and he said are you sure as if to allude to me not knowing why I was there in the first place. After that BS, he went into his whole sales pitch trying to upsell me into wheels and this took another 5 minutes. I AGAIN had to tell him that I just wanted to get the tire rotation and be on my way. After he had me sign for the work, he said are you going to be leaving your car with me today? I immediately said, leave my car? Why? You told me you can get me in right away? He replied, I'll get you in the next hour and a half. I asked for my keys back and he asked me am I going to go to another location instead? They'll be just as long. I DEMANDED my keys back and left. I am so angry with your location for not only wasting my time, but for clearly not caring about your customers. How can I trust you to work on my car honestly if you can't even be honest to me person to person? I have been (as previously stated) a long time customer for many years and am extremely disappointed. I will not be returning to your location and will never use your company again. read more

The Discount Tire store near my home is without a doubt, one of the best customer service companies I've ever been associated with. We've bought tires from them for years now, but tonight was yet another example of why we're so loyal to them. Its not like they know us or we them, we only go in there when we need to buy tires or have a problem with our existing ones. I left work today right at 5 o'clock for once, excited to get home 'early'. Imagine my dismay when I saw the rear driver's side wheel almost flat in our parking garage. I put the friggin 'donut' tire on (as a man, I HATE that thing - its so... so.... unmasculine!) and drove immediately to my local store. First of all, they are open until 6, which helps for us working slobs. I called on the way there to verify that they could be ready to help me, and the guy who answered the phone couldn't have been more welcoming, basically saying that if I got there before 6, they'd take care of me no problem. As soon as I got out of my car to go inside, two technicians came out to me and asked for my keys. I knew its mostly because they wanted to go home as soon as possible, but I can't help feeling good about the fact that ALL of us wanted this experience to be dealt with as soon as possible, so it was nice. They looked up my records by my phone number ( of course I have lost the paperwork) and verified that I was a customer and had the tire insurance plan ( a steal really, in that they will replace your tire FOR ANY REASON for the period of the insurance, which isn't super expensive), and told me that they'd fix the flat and balance the tire and check the air pressure on all the remaining tires. The guy who dealt with me - remember it was 10 minutes before they closed - was super nice and joking with me. In twenty minutes they had fixed my tire, balanced it and replaced it on the axle. They also checked the air in my 'donut' and replaced the jack and other equipment in the trunk bay. I was on my way home by 6:10. All in all, I can see no reason to buy tires from anyone else ever. Their prices are competitive, but the service is outstanding and a major differentiator. When I think of automotive service, excellence is not a word which easily comes to mind. But Discount Tire, especially the store up far north near me, demonstrates the best customer service, consistently, that I've ever seen. read more

I am soooo over dealing with this car nonsense. I decided to go take care of that flat tire you may recall from the University Car Wash review. Apparently, it didn't just need air, and after roadside assistance switched me to a spare right outside my house, I needed to see about a replacement. Unfortunately, I went out the night before and attempted to erase the existence of a guy out of my head by accepting free shots of Jaeger and Jack from everyone who offered me one. And I can't think of a better place to go when I'm hungover and in the midst of a ridiculous emotional crisis than Discount Tire. The smell of rubber made me want to vomit (or was that the five Jaegerbombs from the night before?) and I sort of collapsed on the counter rather than approach it, and proceeded to explain the issue. The guy was mostly nice, and after pulling up half a dozen numbers we finally found the file under my dad's name. He explained about my prorated warranty and worst case scenario would be replacing the tire for around $115 instead of the full price. My only concern was how long it would take and where was the nearest place for me to yak if I had to (although I hadn't done that in years). I don't think I have ever been happier to see a mini fridge with free HEB bottled water for customers in my entire life. For once I didn't care if it was Voss or Fiji or Evian or that obscure Icelandic brand; I was happy with the water that the HEB factory probably got from the hose out back. They said the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour, but as I recall everything went a lot faster than that. Time is hard to judge through the remnants of boozy malaise. Surprise, surprise, it was a worst case scenario, and it had punctured the "sidewall", whatever the hell that means. Apparently some phantom nail had punctured it but the actual culprit had disappeared. I asked wearily if they could just plug the thing (and some 16 year old in line said the same thing: "Plug it!" Ugh but really, who asked him, anyway?). But of course, no, they couldn't. Put it on my dad's Amex, I don't care. I wish he'd just buy me a new car. Oh yeah, and they "balanced" my tires too, another term I am unfamiliar with, but assume is probably a good thing to have done. I got some sort of free certificate thing, so if it happens again, I get it replaced for free. Whatever, throw it on my tab. All the guys were real friendly, even though I was most definitely in a dehydrated state of annoyance and reeked of vodka and regret. Four stars for fixing that blasted tire in a reasonable amount of time for a reasonable cost. Although I don't think I can see a Discount Tire anymore without getting a little tummy ache. read more

Let's face it, buying tires is an investment. I don't relish making this sort of investment, so at times I've cheaped on it and driven around on whining tires that get louder and lose their shape at middle age, like a bad marriage partner. Live and learn, if you're into that, so now I do my research online first to find the various user reviews and recommended tires for my particular vehicle before I ever enter the store. Their site actually gives you this ability. If you're going to keep your car awhile, it's worth improving your ride for a few bucks more per tire. The guys at Discount Tire can fix you up with either type of tire, BTW, because I've bought them all here over the years. It helps to not tell them you're looking for the cheapest tire. If you find your particular tire of desire whilst researching online, you can check their site and see if they have it in stock at the closest store. If they carry it but don't have it in stock, you can call and see how fast they can get it, so you don't waste your time driving over on your bad tires, only to have to do it over again (or to settle for less than you wanted). Again, experience. This last go-round, they called me back the next day with my tires in stock and I was in and out of there in about an hour and a half, brand new Michelins balanced and mounted. They even found an unadvertised manufacturer's discount (because I asked). FYI, these manufacturer's discounts come up several times a year, and most of the time, they are advertised and they are significant. I saved $70 on a set of four Michelins, and my total cost was comparable to what the local membership discount houses were charging. When you buy new tires here, you'll pay extra ($7.50 per tire) for the flat tire sensors to be rebuilt (if your car has them). They're inside the tire, so it's worth getting it done. There's a tire disposal fee of $2.50 per tire. The tire purchase comes with lifetime free rotations and spin balancing. An hour is about standard, which is reasonable compared to some other places I've tried. The waiting room is boring, but they're in a strip-mall so you can walk around. They offer a "replace it free" warranty for each new tire, which means if you drive over something that they can't repair, they'll give you a new tire as long as yours still has good tread and is in good shape, except for the irreparable destruction. Be warned that they'll add this on without asking, and it's over $20 a tire, so ask them to itemize the bill before check-out and tell them to take it off it you don't want it. This is the only thing that bugs me about their sales policies. I've done it both ways, with and without the warranty, and bottom line is it's your call, as with any product warranty. How many road hazards are in your life? I've had two flats fixed on two separate vehicles in the past week, so apparently there are too many in mine. One had the warranty and one didn't, and both times they were able to plug and patch it and didn't charge me anything. That's right, they fixed my flats for free, in about an hour. Luckily, they were screws and not shrapnel. Lesson of the week: Don't drive through construction zones. They rotated and rebalanced my tires on my vehicle while I was having the flat fixed, and still didn't charge me anything. "Just come see us when you need new tires," the guy said. And somehow, even when I shop around, I always do. read more

Unfortunately, I need to be the dissenting vote on this discount tire store. I purchased tire insurance from InTire ( www.iasdirect.com ) when I bought my car and had an issue with one of my run flat tires. The Discount tire employee I worked with spoke with InTire and told me everything was all set and replaced the tire. Later, I found out that my insurance would not reimburse me for the tire because the Discount tire employee didn't follow their requirements to send a picture and get authorization before doing the work. I'm sure it was a miscommunication but regardless, I'm out $400 or so that should have been covered by insurance. Just a word to the wise, be very cautious when having discount tire do work that should be covered by your plan. Make sure they do everything they need to do so you get reimbursed. read more

Will no longer use Discount Tire, or at least this location. Discount Tire used to be my go-to for tire needs, but this location has been declining, and yesterday was my last straw. Dropped my truck off to have 4 new tires mounted/balanced/installed, told the salesman to leave it in the parking lot with keys inside and doors locked when done. He replied, "ok we'll call you when it's done, and confirm that." Never got a call, and truck was locked in their facility overnight, leaving me with no way to get to school and work the next morning. read more

I have been going to Discount Tire for many years and with several different cars. This is probably the only car-type place I can go where I fully trust that the guys working there aren't going to screw me over because I'm a lady and I'm alone. Every employee I've ever dealt with, either in person or on the phone, is extremely polite, and seems genuinely interested in helping customers and gaining customer satisfaction and loyalty. Today was no exception. I came in just to inquire about cost and time involved for two tires on my Acura. After getting the quote, I asked if I could make an appointment for another day since it was Saturday afternoon and I figured they were booked up. Joel said they could get me in right then, as there was only one car ahead of me. About 30-45 minutes later, I was driving away with two brand new tires with warranties and lifetime rotation. When my other two tires are ready to be replaced, I'll definitely return to Discount Tire. read more

As usual, the employees are very nice, and the prices are very fair. The only problem I have with this location is how long it takes to actually get service. You can stand around in front of the air-check station for fifteen minutes before they come over, and many of the people working in the bay will turn and look at you, then ignore you. You'll get a couple of "be right with you!"s, but considering it takes about 3 minutes to air the tires up, I'm not sure why they don't just take care of things. The front desk isn't much better...they'll have one person taking care of the entire front desk, and three or four people waiting in line. It's kind of annoying when you're just trying to drop the car off for a rotate and balance, or to get a flat fixed. read more

Our son is a student in OSU and we live in TX. At 9 pm he informed us of two flat tires. We had been asking him to get new tires since the August 2021. He now needs help ASAP and also needs to get to class by 2 pm the next day. Having used Discount Tire on many occasions, I reached out the the DT team in OH. They were able to (1) recommend a towing company (2) walk me through ordering the tires online, so that I could pay with my credit card, and (3) replace all four tires so my son could get to his class on time. Upon arrival at Discount Tire, a few minutes before my on-line scheduled appointment, I was greeted by Robert as I emerged from my car. In less than 2 minutes, Robert had the mileage, my keys, and the story behind why I had brought the car in for tire service. I went inside to check in at the main desk and everything was in order for my appointment. Robert had checked my tires for wear when I first drove up, and at front counter check-in, my wear level was explained to me with the help of a visual aid in the lobby. With all check in items completed, I was able to sit in the lobby and wait for news about why my tire couldn't hold onto its air pressure. The lobby of Discount Tire is not very beautiful, but what do you expect? It's a tire shop! I'd rather they spend their money to run the business on good equipment out in the shop and great salaries to pay workers what they deserve for doing good work. It would be nice if there was a strong wifi connection so that I could work while I waited. Alas there wasn't, and I spent 15 minutes trying to get online before I gave up and just used my cell-phone to set up a hotspot. There is a coffee shop with decent wifi for customers just across the parking lot if that suits your fancy. Just a few minutes after I sat down, I was informed that they had found the nail in my tire and that it was completely repairable. Just 20 minutes after I checked in, Anthony was calling me outside to reunite with my car. He explained the repair, that they had reset the TPM system for me, and that I was ready to go. Everyone that I spoke to at Discount Tire was efficient, professional and courteous. This is a great place to do business and where I will continue to bring all my tire and wheel business. read more

I've been getting my tires from Discount tires for a while now and I like the service. However, this place is pretty busy, so be prepared to wait or drop your car off and come back to pick it up. I brought my car by on the afternoon before Thanksgiving so they were rightfully swamped. I had been having pressure problems with one of my tires and they found a nail in it. Luckily they were able to repair it without having to replace the whole thing. Since all my tires are from them, they repaired it for free and would have replaced it for free as well! They also rotate your tires and do air pressure checks for free. Can't get much better than that in my book since I am pretty hands off when it comes to car stuff. read more

I think I got lucky, because when I came here to get new tires, there were only one or two other cars being serviced. Customer service was excellent, and very patient. I was one of those pain in the ass customers who went in for 2 tire replacements. Great. They had the tires I wanted in stock and took my car back right away. As soon as they finished and returned my car, I decided to bite the bullet and replace all 4 tires. So again, they took my car back. They were very patient with me, extremely friendly and helpful, and best of all, quick! I was there maybe 40 minutes. Which is much faster than anticipated, usually it's about 2-3 hours. Brian is AMAZING!! I came in with a budget and he made it happen! I can't tell you what amazing deal he did but he hooked me up. He also educated me on tires and showed me what a good tread looks like. He also showed me what they measure to figure out if you need new tires or not. This guy was awesome! As always, great service and a great experience!! I keep seeing other post about people saying they got bad service or they got talked up in price. This is BS. I have been a customer of discount tire for almost 10 years and I've NEVER had this experience. I've been to discount tires all over Arizona and Texas and never had these issues.
