I would not buy tires from any other company and I love this Discount location the best. I would also never buy tires without the Road Hazard Warranty. I have been using Discount for over a decade but my last experience was the best. I walked in to have my tires balanced and rotated and to check my slow leak on the back tires, my back tires were worn but still had some life left. They suggested they could be changed but did not push it. I wanted to get a little more out of them. During the process they found that the tires had a few small punctures and they told me that the road hazard covers them. And in about an hour I was out the door with two new tires which only cost me $18/tire to renew the warranty! I highly recommend Discount and their service. Price and their Service brings me back... I drive a VW Beetle (Savannah) and she needed new shoes. I got the hook up there because a friend of a friend was helping me out. Walked out with 4 top of the line Michelin's for $600. I NEEDED new tires so badly and I want to keep my car for a long, long time. To me the $600 seemed like a drop in the bucket. I could have gone with the low grade tires which would've put me at $400 total, but price over quality isn't my biggest concern. These guys were very sweet to me, very attentive, and weren't pushy in the least. They gave me all my options and let me mull over them for as long as I needed to before forking over my debit card. I have been putting off getting my tires replaced because the process is expensive, frustrating, and extremely time consuming. After researching NTB, Firestone, Sears, Lambs, and a few others online, I finally decided to setup and appointment with Discount Tire. I was really only in for 2 tires, but the customer service that I received and the time spent explaining the differences between brands, speed ratings, and warranties, etc. made me feel like I could trust them more than any other automotive business, ever. I decided to replace all 4 instead because I actually was shown the wear on all 4 tires instead of just being told of the wear as way to up-sell. The best part was that I was in and out in less than 1 hour when I know I would have been at one of the other shops for most of my Saturday, thanks to several past experiences. Javier and Joel were both extremely pleasant, professional, thorough, and clear. They partially honored my warranty on my old set and gave me good information about the new set I was buying. I was completely prepared to buy a new tire but the person who greeted me said, "Let's see if I can fix it". Which he did. I sooo appreciate these guys!! Not only are they "girl friendly," they deal with my over-the-top personality. I purchased two Kumho tires in 2009 from them - they were the best deal in town!! Not to mention, the guys that did help me, made sure I understood what it was I was purchasing...down to the penny. Yesterday, I got a severe gash in two of my tires from a tool who couldn't handle it anymore and jumped out of the back of a work truck. I went up there with my over rambunctious 2 year old, gave Luke at the counter severe attitude and a temper tantrum (bad day - phone died too), and within 30 minutes I had two new tires. All for $17!!! So, they put up with my attitude with a smile, did their best, and got me on my way...yes, I did thank them tremendously and did apologize to them for my bad day..wasn't their fault I was at the receiving end of a tool-icide or my phone going ka-putz. The guys at Discount Tire work so hard, and in an area of town where people think they are extremely important and if they aren't happy they throw temper tantrums louder than a toddler, the guys at this Discount Tire company really make sure each customer is happy and will do all that they can to ensure it. The only 'downside' is they are crazy slammed on Saturdays - so if you have to have any tire work done, make sure you either make an appointment or choose a different day. I got a flat tire yesterday and came to Discount Tire for the repair. I purchased my initial tires from them and was pleased to learn I had a warranty on the flat that made the repair costs minimal. They checked the remaining tires to make sure they were in good condition. They did successfully up sell me to replace my tires in pairs (one more tire than I had planned for) but the cost was so reasonable and the individual that helped me was very kind and not pushy at all. Best of all- this took less than 30 minutes! I will be coming back! I love this place! Though admittedly I know practically nothing about my car beyond the color and the year it was made, I have never felt like I need to bring a male along with me to prevent being treated like a second-class citizen, the way I do in some other auto places. These guys make an honest effort to get me in as close to my appointment time as possible, and they are generally pretty quick to get me out. And their warranty is the best! I moved to Austin about five months ago. Right off the bat, because of Austin's crappy roads, I had to get two new tires. I'm not good with cars and even more so when they break down. I had a fast leak in one of my tires and by the time I limped into their store, I was near hysteria. LUKE WAS AWESOME. He calmed me down, made me smile and assured me all would be allright. Unfortunately, the leak couldn't be fixed and I needed a new tire which ended up being two tires. But because of his calm demeanor and professionalism, I knew I would go back to that location. And I did in November for the other two tires. Luke wasn't there but the other guys were just as great. Today, I went in for my rotation and there was Luke. Super friendly as always and I was in and out in an hour. I love this location and its guys. I went on Good Friday at 1:30p and was disappointed to learn the store was closed from noon - 3p (great for employees but I wish it had said something on the website about this). Lucky for me and the gentleman who had been waiting since 12:30p, employees actually noticed who'd been there and took us in order. I'd like to give props out to the men in line who let the woman with a couple young children go ahead of them even though she just arrived at 3p. The clerk was helpful and got me set up with the new tires I wanted to buy. We had researched prices and Discount Tires beat everyone else on the tires we wanted! Very nice folks here. They made no attempts to convince me to replace all 4 tires when I still had some life left in two of them. The young man helping me also let me make the decision on the tires I wanted and didn't try to hard sell me towards any particular brand or towards the most expensive tires. The prices are much better here than at competing tire places. The store is very clean and not intimidating at all. Sadly, the store doesn't have free wifi to help keep captive individuals entertained. BUT they were quick to point out that there was a coffeeshop right across the parking lot if I was in need. Good enough...not worth docking a star. Why did I dock a star? They roll a 3 year warranty program (called certificates) into the final price without informing you it's optional. I was aware of it being optional since I took the time to do a little homework first, but I'm sure they've caught quite a few customers unaware. I elected to get it anyway since it's hazard insurance more or less. read more

Best Customer Service Ever! I first visited Discount Tire a few month's ago to get new tires. They surprised me with great service, tires, and prices. This morning I made an unplanned visit on the way to work because of a (nearly) flat tire. It was early and they already had several customers waiting. They opened 5 minutes after I got there and had enough service reps to immediately take care of my problem. Because I was going to be late for work, they proactively put my car in first. The tire was checked, patched, and tires rotated before I could even catch up on work emails (less than 15 min). And the best part was there was no charge. Granted I had the tire protection warranty, but not sure that it would've cost much or anything just for the plug. The best part is that the person who serviced the tire came out, showed me the small piece of metal that had pierced the tire and reviewed everything with me. Her service was incredible as was the service rep who first helped and then later provided an update on my car. All I can say is WOW! It doesn't get much better than that. I have purchased many tires for many different vehicles from Discount Tires. I have to say that I am very disappointed with the service at this specific location. I made a simple request to have my tires rotated and I wanted them moved to a specific location on my vehicle. I was not given a recommendation but was TOLD we will only put your tires in a specific location on your vehicle. IT's my right to have my tires where I want them on my vehicle. I own the vehicle and if I would like for my vehicle to be a certain way that's my prerogative. All tires are within specification and are fairly new. Due to this situation I drove off and took my other vehicle to another tire store and bought 4 new tires. I also paid another company to rotate the two tires where I needed/wanted them to be so there would be even wear on the tires and they would be in the safest location for my vehicle. In my opinion the store is having me put the tires in a specific location on the vehicle which would make the tires not wear evenly and therefore would make me purchase tires before they would need to be purchased. In my opinion this is a tactic they helps their business and not what's best in the customers interest. I will not do business with them again because they ignored my request and didn't want to listen to the customer and wanted to do what was best for themselves their personal gain. Thanks again for allowing me to post my experiences and I hope this helps others that run in the same situation at Discount Tires. One location, in Austin mislead me and said that my rims were fine and said it was another issue and even suggested what it was to which I spent $175 on that part. Turns out it wasn't. So I took a chance and went to another location, this one! I have never been treated as well as I have with Bradin and company. Not only did he spend time with me to understand my hesitation, but he also worked with me and my budget to make sure I got the right services. His team discovered that in fact it was the rim I knew it was and worked with me again to find rims that fit within my budget and my needs. THIEVES! I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Sure, they were able to change my tires the same day, without an appointment (after $300 and 1.5 hours of waiting). HOWEVER, a pair of Bluetooth headphones were stolen from the car by one of their scumbag employees. When called and confronted the manager assures me that I'm wrong, and that none of their 'honest' employees would do such a thing. How did they determine this? They went to their employees and asked 'Hey guys, did any of you steal anything?' Of course, their 'thorough' investigation turned up nothing. "The Batmobile lost its wheel, and The Joker got away..." Or so the traditional kids' Jingle Bells spoof goes. The Shoe-Cruiser had been giving me fits, as Batman's ride did him too; with 3 flat tires in a span of 10 days. If the Shoe-Cruiser actually WAS my superhero car, and I actually WAS pursuing The Joker, I'd have been so screwed. This last tire had been flattening itself every few days, with a rapid "slow leak", so I decided to finally do what any good superhero would do, and replace the tire. And not with $25 used tires (or 'llantas usadas' as the shops I'd get them from called them), as I would do with previous, now-departed Shoe-Cruisers. Oh, no... THIS time, it'll be brand-new tires, WITH warranty. And as cheap as possible. So, where do I go? HUZZAH!!! Nothing to fear... In the Golden Radius of one mile from Casa Shoehead, is Discount Tire. As the name implies, they sell tires... at a discount. Perfect! I must admit, I had very low expectations of the service going into this venture. But I was completely wrong, and pleasantly surprised. The assistant manager, Brandon, was very helpful, didn't try to sell me a bunch of crap, and really acted like he cared about my finding the right cheap tire. He looked at all my tires, gave great advice, found a good, low-cost solution, and even educated me a bit on what to look for as far as tire wear and manufacturing dates. Also, since they didn't have the cheapest tire in my size, he got me the next level up and kicked a little discount for the more expensive tire. As it turns out, I need two more tires, so Brandon and I worked out a strategy, a timeline, and even what to do with the spare. What fun! So even though I walked out of there with my debit card $94 lighter, I have tremendous piece of mind, and a plan to have new tires all around in the next few weeks! I'd recommend Discount Tires to anyone, especially Batman, for the next time he has tire problems while in pursuit of The Joker. Needed new tires on my Infiniti G35 and the dealership was going to charge close to a grand. I called Discount and got a much better price. My typical MO is to then call NTB or another tire joint and play them against each other. When I told Discount I was going to call around, the guy on the phone said "I have competitor pricing right here, who were you going to call?" I told him, and he told me flat out that NTB had the tires for $4 cheaper... So he'd sell them to me $5 cheaper. Wow. Okay! Beat the competitor and saved me a couple of calls - that's great. Made an appointment, and they got me in and out in the time it took to drink a cappucino at the nearby coffee spot and check email. When my car was brought out, there was a greasy handprint on the interior door handle. I pointed it out to the driver, and the manager jogged over to see what I needed - and cleaned the door immediately. Great service, quick response, beat competitors' pricing, and treated me like a valued customer, not "just a girl". I'll keep going back! read more

Know your business, and don't blindly stick to inapplicable corporate guidelines!! For the FIRST time in 30k miles, Discount Tire is giving me grief about running lower pressure in my oversized tires - which they sold me. I have been serviced at 4 different locations and have never had a problem or been questioned about my desired pressure. They tried to tell me to run 40 PSI ! In a Jeep Wrangler running 35x12.50 17s load range E tires! If you've ever had a Jeep and 35s, you KNOW this is a ridiculous pressure. They argued with me about recommended pressure and safety, until I finally said I'm done and didn't want to hear anymore about it. They refused to put 29 PSI in my tires. This may seem like a minor issue, however, I expect my tire shop to know better. Larger tires with higher weight ratings don't require as much air pressure. Over-inflating tires makes the vehicle unsafe because the tires don't grip the road as well, and makes the ride very very uncomfortable - especially in a Jeep. The tires also bounce more on the road when over-inflated, which causes the tire to unnecessarily lose traction as well. Here's how tire pressure should be calculated... Front to back weight only differs by a few hundred pounds, so it's ok to set all 4 at the same pressure. The calculation is as follows: TIRE & VEHICLE SPECS Tire rating: 3195 lbs @ 65 psi (cold) Gross weight: 5700 lbs CALCULATION Gross vehicle weight / Total weight capacity for 4 tires * max tire PSI Recommended pressure = 5700 / (3195 x 4) * 65 = 5700 / 12780 * 65 = .446 * 65 = 29 PSI This is a calculation well known by 4x4 owners who often run larger tires, and by race car drivers, where pressure is very important. Race car drivers actually do the calculation for each tire, instead of averaging all 4 together. read more

I recently needed a new set of tires - all 4 and originally went to Walmart (just for the tire prices). I showed up to Walmart and they never took care of me. They took FOREVER to do everything! I ended up leaving because I was tired of waiting. I ended up at Discount Tire because I had heard of them and wasn't far from them. I got in there, told them what I needed and got new tires within about 16 minutes. I even waited in line and still got out in the time that it took just to wait at Walmart. They're professionalism and courteousness were off the charts too. The best thing was they were able to solve my tire shaking problem (which I was told was a brake issue). I have been a Discount Tire customer since around 1999. I lived in Round Rock at the time and a co-worker told me that he goes nowhere else. I enjoyed excellent service from the Round Rock location until I moved to Lampasas in 2012. I used the Cedar Park location on 1431 for several years until service seemed to wane. If you make an appointment for a tire rotation, you still will have to wait an hour to get it done. What is the point of making an appointment if it will not be honored? Fast forward a year or so I have a slow leak in my tire. I tell my phone to "take me to the nearest Discount Tire" and it routes from my work at Parmer and 620 toward Research Blvd and Balcones Club Drive. I am surprised to find out that there is a Discount Tire about 10 minutes from work. Anyway, I head over and they take a look at the tire and discover a screw in it. Since I bought the "Road Hazard" Certificate, the repair is done at no cost to me. I am in and out in 30 minutes! Needless to say, I am impressed. Fast forward again a month or so and my tread is starting to get a little low. The driving back and forth from Lampasas to Austin everyday is starting to take its toll on my tires. November is bonus month so I decide to get them replaced while I have the funds. I order a mid-range set of tires online and choose a 9:15 appointment on a Saturday morning at my new favorite Discount Tire. I arrive at 9:03 am, walk-in, and am immediately asked if I can be helped. I advise them that I have a 9:15 am appointment. I am done and out by 10 am. Since I have nothing planned, I decide to take the scenic route home and test out my new tires on Cow Creek Road, just west of Lago Vista on 1431. A fun start to a fun day! read more

I decided to get my tires changed before I had to go pick up my two year old from day care then go get my son from Fort Worth after. I'm 5 months pregnant and I told the rep my number was changed & he told me not to worry he'll update it in the system even asked for the new number & I asked that someone would call me when finished & said at first there was a 3 hr wait then said don't worry it's only like 1 hr and 45 min now that was about 4:15 so I went to walk around the plaza came back around 5:30 to find my car unlocked & they were closed did not once call me or anything to notify me that my car was finished. Which mind you my keys have my house key and everything so now not only was I pregnant and stranded can't even get my two year old from day care or the one in Fort Worth we have no access to our house!!! I stopped in for a quick tire pressure check today, after giving up 2 days ago because there was no one there to take care of customers. I waited a reasonable time to get the tires checked, and a nail was found in one, so after being assured it wouldn't take long to get me in to have it fixed, I waited another 20 minutes to get checked in. I was told to wait outside and they would come get me to pull the car into the bay to have the tire fixed. After sitting in 100 degree heat for another 35 minutes, I finally gave up and went home. Lesson learned. Never go here without an appointment. If they had been up front with me about the time to get this done, I would have just made an appointment to come back another time.
