Do not go to Discount Tire on 183 and Anderson Mill....so I have a flat. Tire not serviceable as it has damage to the side wall. They do not have the tire to replace it in stock and say they cannot get it for hours...(other location 10 minutes away). So they send me to other Discount Tire refusing to air it up for him or put the spare on. The spare is old and "not serviceable", yet they do not put a new one on. Got 4 new tires not sure if I really needed the other three but he sold me , that's fine .But they stripped / cross threaded a nut to hold the tire . The sales person did not write it in the computer but luckily I had him put it on my receipt . So they said they would fix it , I went back to get paperwork and part they said they had to replace . Looks like he pulled just any nut and bolt out of the drawer . So went to the store that fixes their mistakes . The fix it place got it up and it's the wrong one so nw wasting more of my time since they have to go get the correct one , I'd figure they would have giving a credit if some type for wasting all my time and driving all over the place. Last Saturday I had a great experience at this store but haven't had a chance until now to write a review. (The fact that I am making the time to write this is significant because I can't remember the last time I wrote a review!). I had a tire with a screw in it that had punctured cleanly through. My son and I put the spare tire on and put the damaged tire in the trunk the night before. I did not have an appointment, so got in line about 10 minutes before the store opened on Saturday, hoping to be fit into the schedule somehow. I ended up interacting with 4 different employees during my visit, each of whom was wearing a mask, very polite, and very responsive. I was asked to drive to the designated garage lift, and was asked to stay inside my car because it was not going to take long. They took out the damaged tire, patched it up, and then swapped the spare with the fixed tire. The person who checked me out gave me the invoice and said, "no charge!" I wasn't expecting that! From the time I checked in to driving off was about 35-40 minutes. I am a very satisfied customer, and highly recommend this store and location. read more

To start, I've always been a discount tires customer. It's close to home and they good a job. This last visit I felt I got ripped off. I was exiting lakeline mall and I ran over something sharp and it poked a hole in my tire. I knew that it was under warranty since it was in the middle of the treads. So I replaced the tire with a spare and drove slowly to discount tire the next morning. When I got there, the rep came out and looked at the tired that popped. I took it out of the trunk and he said yeah that looked like some kind of nail. Then he inspected my other tires and measured the treads on them and I was watching his meter on the measurement. When we went inside he told me I should be replacing all my tires because the treads are running low, and that it wasn't safe. He explained that the treads are in the yellow and it needs to be replaced. He then gave me his salesman speech about the tires and all and I rather be safe then sorry so I got 3 new tires and one for free from the replacement. I kept one of the "good" old tires to use as a spare instead of the other spare. After all and done I felt like something was off. Before I came I had checked the treads an they seem fine to me so I took my car to a mechanic I know at Costco where I once worked and ask him about the tires. He pulled out his measurement sticks and measure the treads and guess what? They were still in the green zone. GREEN!! I did not need to replace my tires and instead I put out about $290 for new ones. What a joke. Seriously. Ok. So I'm a girl and know little to nothing about my car. Went to Discount Tire to have my tires inspected (knowing I likely needed to replace some since they're old...). Made an appointment online. Showed up. So let's talk about Brian - who was about as pleasant as a salesperson could be (and didn't mock me for my ignorance). Long story short, bought 4 tires ...that I needed. Oh, and in the middle of working up my transaction, actually ASKED ME if it was ok if he answered the phone. THAT ALONE sold me on the customer service. Was quoted 45 minutes to put my tires on (because I had made an appt!!! Everyone else was told an hour and a half). Oh. And I was in and out in under an hour total. Called to schedule an appointment today & I simply asked the gentlemen if there's a possibility of someone dropping me off at work since my job is literally 5 mins down the road (Driving distance). The gentlemen stated that they're not a "shuttle service" and proceeded to rush me off the phone. Well, I obviously know that this is not a shuttle service. However, why you gotta be so rude. Took my 1971 Oldsmobile convertible there for four new tires. When I picked it up, a person I later found out was the manager handed me a lug nut. He then, using very simplistic language, tried to explain to me how the "screw fits into the wheel and sometimes that screw will turn..." To which I replied " you spun the stud." He nodded and added "but it's still ok to drive" (which it most definitely is not) unfortunately I was already late for a biz meeting so had to go. My husband returned two days later to talk to them about it. When he asked them what had happened, manager said, "oh, I don't think your wife really understood..." Implying I didn't understand because I was female. Then they refused to fix the wheels, pleading they didn't have the ability or equipment and refused to offer any compensation. My husband asked them twice if they were sure that was the story they were going to stick to. They were adamant it was. We've been doing business with that shop for five years, having them mount our tires for both of our street cars and both of our race cars. My husband and I both race cars. My husband is a mechanic and I am quite mechanically savvy. In this case they lied about the condition the car was brought to them in, lied about what they had done, refused to fix it or offer any compensation AND were disrespectful to me as a woman regarding my knowledge off cars. We gave them the chance to make it right and they refused. We will no longer use them and we will strongly suggest that no one else use them, PARTICULARLY women as they clearly have a low opinion of women there. read more

my experience is awful. first there is no federal law that requires discount tire not repair 10 yr or older tires second there is no law that requires discount tire to decline repairs because the nail is too close to the outside of tire. that being said discount tire uses these ploys to make you buy new tires This has happened 2 times this year. they are telling consumers the truth read more

I live in lakeway and was dropping my son off in cedar park when I discovered I had a flat. I didn't want to drive too long on the flat so I started calling tire shops in the area. I called discount tires @ 6:00 pm and asked what time they closed. He told me @ 6:00, but to bring my car in and they would stay open later to fix my flat. Can you believe that?? I called this store and 2 others looking for the shortest wait for tires. I actually left one discount location because this location claimed that they could get me taken care of in 1 hour 20 min. After I arrived and selected my tires I asked asked to confirm the wait time, and I was told at least 3 hours. I told him I had previously called and was quoted less than half the time 15 minutes prior. I was then informed that they had been on a 2.5 hour wait for most of the day. I feel I was lied to, to get me to come to this location. I asked Alexander to help me out given the misquote but was told there was nothing he could do. I am very disappointed. I have now wasted nearly 30 minutes driving to this location and getting a quote, to have to leave to find a business with more integrity to purchase tires from. read more

Having tire troubles on a Saturday is no fun and you can expect to have to wait for repairs anywhere you go, but this place made the experience bearable. Although it was busy, the friendly and professional staff assisted me right away, figured out the problem (screw in the tire) and proceeded to fix the tire for free. I was told to come back in 90 minutes, which I used to get coffee and breakfast and then shop at nearby stores. The job was done and I was ready to go. Great service. read more

I hate dealing with car stuff... usually have the boyfriend do all maintenance and upkeep but I got a flat. On Mopac. During rush hour. It was stressful to say the least. I finally got close to home and came to this discount tire. I was already anxious because I haven't the first clue about what I'm doing in a place like this but Jordon helped me out, no problem! Tires and oil changes...necessary evils. I've used this Discount Tire for over 15 years. I'd used other locations before and was always pleased, but not as much. Today's encounter was seriously service friendly and required my feedback. Like, I might have to go back later to thank them. Know that we have multiple cars and each of them and the long gone ones has had their tires replaced here at least once. We have always had good experience. Today I went in to get 2 of my four tires replaced. I was remiss in rotating and created a problem with my tires (2 bald, 2 with good tread but slightly scalloped). It turned out that I might have some old safety information. I really wanted the new ones on the front and I was going to leave to do some research before buying 4 instead of two. I'm a little nutty that way but tires are costly, and things are always tight at this time of year with end of school trips, costs, etc, etc, etc. I also am not good at making these types of decisions under pressure (they weren't applying it, I swear...I just need to research). The manager (I will go back and get his name) listened to my concerns. The concerns were created because I had originally I planned to buy two and was told they needed to go on the rear (due to the amount of wear) which made me very unhappy because the ones on the front are driving me CRAZY with noise -- absolutely my fault. I appreciate him hearing my concerns and working to find a way to make this work for me and the safety recommendations. Service is so important to me and it's why I've stayed at Discount and I haven't been given the need to check anywhere else. One less stress. Oh, and I am reading up on the information confirming the safety information provided so I won't be misinformed for the next car coming in and they won't have to deal with my look of shock/stupidity. I purchased tires from here to replace new 2005 Camry crappy factory tires in 2007. If I needed rotations, air or had a slow leak from a nail I would go there and they would fix the problem. No charge, no hassle. Yesterday I found a bolt in one of my tires and called them at 5pm on Friday evening. They asked me to bring it in then and I was there in 10 min. Luke saw the bolt, said if they couldn't fix the tire they would replace it for free. Yay!! He also wanted to sell me a new set of tires (of course) but gave me a very good price on new, better tires like mine, a rebate for my tires which were still within warranty, and told me about more rebates if I applied for Discount credit card and from the tire company itself. The final price for 4 new tires was very good!! Will consider this in a few more months. Just got the tire fixed this time. Took all of 20 min. I will definitely be back and will always use Discount tire. The low stars here are for the air bay. Yes, you do have to wait to get air. They could probably have a full time air bay person but usually the guys are scurrying around replacing tires and doing other profitable things. I've had long waits myself. They should really address this by responding quicker for their customers. read more

Discount Tire is hard to beat on value and service. I have visited this location most frequently, but I have found their good service extends to other locations as well. When it came time to replace my car tires, I shopped around and found the best deal at Discount Tire. They ordered the tires I wanted and called me a few days later once the tires arrived. In the shop, they tried to pressure me into buying a warranty on the tires. I kept declining their warranty sales until they discounted the price so much that the warranty was a good deal. With the warranty, they would replace my tire if they could not repair damage to it. Without the warranty, they would still provide lifetime rotations, flat repairs, and air pressure checks at no additional cost. On my return visits for these services, they have been courteous in their interactions with me. I usually visit when they are busy and have to wait for service, but their whole staff appears to be working efficiently. I was pleased enough with their service that I brought in another car for a flat tire repair on a tire I had not purchased there. They repaired the flat tire and did not charge me for the service, claiming that is their policy to not charge for flat repairs. Even more pleased, I returned the car to them when it was time to replace those tires. Discount Tire provides good service at a good price. That is why I choose to be their customer. read more

True story: Drove up to Waco to do a presentation a week ago Thursday. After my talk, I noticed I had a flat tire. After getting the spare put on, I drove over to the Waco Discount Tire. They were courteous, efficient and professional. After about 60 minutes (they were also busy) I drove back home to Austin. After arriving home, I noticed my wheel cap (formerly referred to as a Hub Cap) was missing. I called Waco and they said to take the car to a local DT and they could take care of me. Skeptical, I drove here to the location on N. Research Blvd last Friday (the closest location to my home). That's when I met Daniel. He tried to have the dealer deliver the part in minutes, but the driver from the dealer delivered the wrong part. Not able to stay any longer, he offered to call me when the part came in. He called me before I was even home. I came back on Monday and Daniel recognized me the moment I walked through the door. He grabbed the cap, walked to my car, slapped it on, shook my hand and wished me a good day. Great job guys! You made a true believer out of me. i am very impressed with Discount Tire service and have good respect for all the people who work there. No only they provide great services, their exceptional attitude and professionalism is inspiring. My Honda 95 was shaking badly when running and wobbled even when moving very slowing, so after work today I went to Discount Tire to have my tires checked, and after that perhaps go to a nearby Firestone to do the alignment if time allows. The Discount person who checked my tire immediately found out the front left tire was old and bad. I have that one tire replaced, two left tires rotated, and all tires balanced, for $14.25. Service was just as great as every time I go there. When it was done at 5:45pm (about 40 minutes wait time, which is good), I got back into my car in the parking lot and turned the key, the dashboard lights turned on but nothing happened. I tried a few more times, the car still could not start. I walked back to Discount to ask for help, the same person immediately walked with me to my car to check on it. We suspected the battery so he tried jump start my car and also helped clean up some corrosion leaks on my car battery. It was 6:10pm and after a few tries we still could not get the car started. He suggested it might be a good idea to ask AutoZone (a few shops away in the same complex) to test the battery, and Firestone was also a block away if mechanical fix was needed. I thanked him for his assistance and walked to Firestone first to see if there may be a mechanic available. However all Firestone technicians were gone home at that hour and no one could help. So I walked in to AutoZone (it is a block next to Discount Tire) to see if anyone could test my car battery, I was surprised to find that a different Discount Tire person was already in the AutoZone store looking for me. He asked about my car issue and said he could try a few things. He tried the car security code and also reseted the battery. To keep long story short, after several attempts, a few repeating turns of the key started my car eventually. He told me it is likely not the battery, but either the starter or some mechanical parts of the car that i may want to check with a real mechanic soon. I was just happy and grateful that my car did get started. It was already 6:45pm. Without their help I would probably end up calling a tow truck this late in the day (if I was lucky to get one this late), and ask a friend to pick me up, rent a car, and so on. I asked if he would accept any tips or compensation. He kindly said no, and actually apologize to me about the inconvenience (even though it was clearly that it was just my car). I forgot how many times I thanks him for his great services before leaving and ready to go home for my dinner. I am a very happy and inspired customer. Discount Tire would be my first choice for any available car services. Ten gold stars rating. read more

always very friendly employees there but... when i make a reservation online to get my truck in at 930 and they dont actually take it in until 11:15. not good guys. i took time to make a reservation for a reason. also, these companies really push to sell warranties. not overly pushy but they use terms that are not actually true in order to sell these warranties. just make sure you ask plenty of questions about what is and what isnt covered.otherwise youll be paying prorated amount for your new tires and not get a free one, like i was told. read more

I took my car to the Discount Tire at Anderson Mill & 183 in Austin, Texas today had a terrible experience. I knew that there was a screw in the tread of one tire and another tire had a slow leak but I couldn't see where where the issue was. An employee walked out to check out my car before I checked in my car. He mostly checked the tread, didn't make much of an effort to look for the issued. Before they even identified the issue he told me that since my car was all wheel drive and they didn't sell the tires on my car they would need to replace all 4 tires if there was any issue. I told him that I didn't want 4 new tires. He told me that if there was an issued that they couldn't repair that they could not put my tire back on my car. I hold him that I had a spare, please use the spare in that case. I was very clear that I didn't want to buy 4 tires, but I did want them to fix what they could. He then walked me inside and pulled up the tires that they sold in the store and told me how much it would be for 4 tires. He told me they might be able to make me a deal if i got all 4. Let me now point out that my tires high end performance tires that are pretty new and have great tread. Then he said it would be 2 hours before they could look at it. Right at 2 hours later I got call, but missed it. They didn't leave me a message. I immediately called back, talked to about 3 or 4 people, then they had to call me back before they could tell me the status of my car. When someone called me back they told that I had a nail and a screw in my tire and that one was not repairable. But they didn't even know that I had two tires with issues, didn't even know what tire had what in it. I finally talked to someone else and they told me that they didn't fix the repairable tire because they didn't know what I would want to do. I asked them to fix the one tire that could be fixed. We were next door so my husband went to check on the not repairable tire. By then they had the car parked off to the side and it was not even in the bay. They had done nothing to the repairable tire. We left there took it to a local tire store. The screw in one tire didn't even penetrate the tire, they removed it and didn't even need to patch it. The other nail was actually in the tread, about 2" from the side. They removed it and patched it. It cost me $13, not ballpark of $1,000. I will never, ever go back to discount tire. read more

Just sat for 20 minutes waiting to have an air check. Had two people give me the "just a minute" finger. Watched three young guys standing around, not looking at me- on purpose. As I started to leave, someone finally approached. This is not a review of ALL discount tires. This is actually the only time I have ever received poor service at a discount.
