Speaks volumes of the management. Yes you should make appointment and pay online, that's life here in Bend. We were purchasing tires and I did quite a bit of research and spoke on phone, at least 6 weeks in advance of appointment, with I believe Cameron, to discuss best tire for our vehicle and he was extremely helpful. Once the tires arrived, they reached out to confirm my installation appointment. The installation went smoothly - it was fast & convenient and the customer service I received couldn't have been better. I took my car to Discount Tire in Bend to have my winter tires taken off and my summer tires put on. They told me that they could not put them on as they were not safe (not enough tread). they quoted me over $800 for new tires! So I left and went to another tire shop. They switched them out, and said they were fine. I was a little leery as I was getting two totally different stories and wanted to make sure the tires were indeed safe, so I went to yet another tire shop and was told that the tires looked "pretty new" but were wearing a little unevenly and they did and alignment. They said the tires still had lots of life in them. I had these guys switch my tires out last year and they told me I needed a new tire because a plug that was done was unsafe. Now I am wishing I had gotten a second opinion on that. Probably bought a new tire I didn't need! Never going back here! read more

After getting there 45 minutes before opening this morning, and already having 30+ people in front of me waiting in line, I was expecting to spend all day at the shop. Despite being slammed right at opening all the employees were *super* friendly, courteous, and helpful. Only an hour and a half later I was on my way with new tires. This tire center is excellent! Great professional service managers and technicians. They work efficiently too. Bought tires there a couple of weeks ago and they treated my wife with the utmost respect and care. She stopped by to set up an appointment to get new tires and even though they were swamped, they were able to get new tires on that day! I had to go back to get one of my tires fixed because I had a drywall screw in it with a slow leak . They took me right away and fixed it within 45 minutes while I waited. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in need of tires or repairs! read more

One year back I had a wheel sensor failed. Went to Discount Tire for replacement. One year later and three damaged wheels I still have a damaged wheel and now a tire. They refused to complete the repairs. I will be filing with Deschutes county court. Look at the long list of unsatisfied customers. Management is poor. read more

I don't really just write reviews for Discount Tire. Honest. We've been getting tires at Discount Tire up here in Bend and back in Houston for probably 25 years now. That's a long, long time and a whole lot of tires. We have yet to have a bad experience at any of their locations. This review is for our recent experience up here. The low pressure light on my wife's SUV came on. With the recent weather I figured that the pressure was probably low on one of the tires but I know from this happening before that the computer system needs to be reset to get the light to turn off. It's a 5 minute fix - no appointment needed at Discount Tire. Sounds good. We take the car in and lo and behold the first 3 tires were a bit low. But the 4th tire was very, very low. Turns out there was a piece of wire stuck in it. They removed the tire, fixed it, rotated the tires (they were due for a rotation) and made sure that the doughnut spare was fully inflated. A lot more that just adding some air and resetting the computer. We were in and out in about half an hour - no charge. And that kind of service is the reason why I haven't bought tires anywhere else since before Bill Clinton was President. Go there. read more

I called and a very nice man assured me that they had an "army" of staff there and could do my winter to summer tire change over in about 90 minutes for $88. This was to remove my tires from the rims and then mount my summer tires with the necessary balancing back onto the rims. Excited I loaded my summer tires into the back of car and rushed immediately down there. After checking in I was them quoted a price of over $150? When I mentioned that I was quoted $88 over the phone I was then told that was the price if I had bought the tires there from them. I left being very disappointed and like had been given the "bait and switch" treatment. read more

In my subsequent calls to schedule (after special ordering and not having option to schedule online), I waited over 25min each time with a message on loop saying '"Lets get you taken care of". I waited till opening which was at 8:00am and was immediately helped. They got my car into the bay and out of the bay in less than an hour with a brand new affordable set of tires. I had the most amazing experience last week when I bought tires at the store in Bend, Ore. I brought in 4 loose aftermarket wheels and tires to get New BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A's late afternoon on Friday. I was completely figuring on picking them up Saturday. I was sent a Godsend and her name is Kailah H., she was the most professional, helpful, knowledgeable tire associate I have ever bought tires from!!! Not only did she make it so I could pick up my tires that evening, but also really assisted making sure I received all the Discounts I was entitled (Military, Discount Credit Card, Special promotion from the tire manufacturer). She went above and beyond what is "Normal" customer service when my card was declined, she figured out I had failed to activate it, SHE called and got the card activated for me... The past two days were no exception when I needed help with a rebate submisssion. For some reason my rebate on new tires had not been processed and I needed help correcting it. I have been going to Discount Tires for over 20 years now an I have always been happy with the products they sell an the service they provide. Recently I came in to buy winter tires for my Outback an Nissan Frontier. I moved up from Texas were winter tires are not needed! They spent the time with me to select the tires and wheels I needed for both vehicles. Now I did get the push to go with the non studs winter tire an I am not sure why. I had done the research so I understand studs tear up the roads, but I am 20 minutes from the mountains. So I decided to go with studs on the Outback an stud less winter tires on the Nissan. I don't write a lot of reviews unless I feel compelled and in this case - I do. I went in today for my seasonal tire change so I could swap out my snow tires. My old tires were beat. I had a feeling I might need new ones but I was not in a place to afford brand new tires. I explained my situation to the staff and they offered me a discount that honestly startled me with how kind it was. I don't know where to begin. I have an 8,000 lb motorhome. It's a Ram Promaster Class B. When they finished putting on tires I asked about tire pressure and the rep said 60 lbs in the front and 80 lbs in the rear, as is required. When I checked the next morning the rears were underinflated by 20 lbs. Tires had to rebalanced. They left the messy tire soap on. They lost one of my hubcaps. I had to go back and spend an hour and a half to get things straightened out. When I talked to the manager he said these were just mistakes. I disagreed and said they weren't. He said we have nothing left to say to each other. To be fair they did order a new hubcap and they comped me $84.00 in labor costs. You get what you pay for folks. These tires were $300 less than the nearest competitor and now I know why. This store has a problem and it starts with the manager who needs to be retrained as well as the staff for sure, but I get the feeling that this is just how they do business nationwide. Would I buy tires here again? No. Would I recommend? No way. read more

So the store is understaffed and u can't get an appointment for 45d. Prior to this year you show up with your car w/o an appointment they would get to it by the end of the day. I tried calling for four separate days prior going through their phone tree system, waiting on hold, and eventually getting dropped. So packed up my winter wheels and tires Sat AM and headed down before 8a. Waited another 30' b4 I got to attendant to b informed that they've changed their policy and no longer do same day service. He said that they are no longer answering phones either and that I'd have to schedule an appointment 45d out. They could save everyone a lot of time if they put that info on their phone message and in their website. I drive 60mi day for work and won't be sacrificing safety for their poor service. read more

Driving into Bend on a Friday afternoon, a bolt went through my tire tread. We were still an hour from our destination (a family wedding), and brought the flat to Discount Tire in Bend. Our tires were purchased at America's Tire out of state. Cameron explained that they were swamped and it would be a 4 hour wait (which would cause us to miss wedding festivities). As we discussed options for returning the next day, Cameron said "let me see what I can do". He is the "guy with the clipboard" but took it upon himself to help us get back on the road. He took the tire off the rim himself but found that the hole was too big to repair. (Usually the clipboard guys don't get their hands dirty!). He was able to find the exact replacement tire, get it mounted, and got us on the road quickly. We made it to the wedding venue with time to spare. I cannot say enough GOOD things about this place. Literally everyone in the shop was helpful and friendly. When I dropped my truck off to have 4 tires installed, they ended up realizing that they only had three of the tires they sold me (I had paid for 4). The manager simply installed 4 BETTER tires and did not charge me for the upgrade because he knew I was from out of town and needed them right away. I can't promise that you will get an upgrade like I did, but I can pretty much guarantee you'll get prompt service and fair prices! These folks are pros and I am more than happy to leave a good review for businesses who deserve it. I will always take my vehicles to Discount Tire, and I highly recommend that you do too. Purchased new Pirelli tires for my Subaru. Overall investment close to $700. Tires were consistently leaking air, causing more stress than the former tires with wear and tear. The wagon was taken back to be informed the tire:rim seals were jeopardized by "grit." Following this "repair" the tires continued to fall short of the recommended mandate for air pressure ...continual air leakage. With the insurance for the tires purchased, never replacements. My car was traded in for a new model. Since the time of this shift in rigs, I purchased winter tires at Goodyear. No issues with this purchase. Super solid tires! This confirmed my experience and this business will not be a future utilized source of tires. Way disappointing. read more

I have been dealing with various Discount/Americas Tire centers for over 30 years. They have a great selection, good prices, and reliable installation. Customer service has always been outstanding as well, except for the Bend location. I just bought and paid for tires online because the web site says you get faster service that way. There were no appointments available online, but I received a call from the store suggesting I drop my car off and leave it for the day. I had my wife follow me on the day they suggested so I could do that. When I arrived at a little before 8 am I checked in and explained I wanted to leave my car. I was told to wait in my car - someone would come out. After 45 minutes I checked with another person who told me to wait in my car. After another HOUR I talked with a third person who finally said I could leave my keys and pick it up later, as I was originally told and was requesting. 1 hour 45 minutes just to drop off my keys!! The workers there seem great, and I trust the results, but this store needs a local manager to provide better service in the front office. I had recommended them to a friend who had a similar experience and will never go back again - he will instead pay more to buy mediocre tires from Schwab because of their superior service. read more

I bought a set of tires for my pickup, paid, and asked how long the wait was. The clerk told me 4 vehicles in front of me, about an hour and a half. I told him I had some things to do, and that I would be back before then. When I returned an hour later, he informed me that there were 3 vehicles in front of me, and that it would be another hour wait. Turns out he took me off the list because I made use of my time instead of holding down a chair in his waiting room! No longer have time in my schedule today, so must return later. America's Tires is now Discount Tires. I currently own a number of vehicles both for highway and off-road use. The total number of tires I own, and have to replace when needed, currently totals 42. Let's say I have some experience in purchasing tires. I have seen many different "takes" and unscrupulous tactics used by various tire shops throughout the years. One of the most common is when the shop doesn't mention certain expenses when quoting tire prices over the phone. I always get an "out the door" price to prevent this type of miscommunication. Well, let if be known, that Discount Tires intentionally leaves out certain expenses when quoting prices. In my case it was TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) and valve stems. When I dropped off the car the salesman and I went over the phone quote and all seemed to be in order. When I returned they had added, without my knowledge, approval, or notice, whatsoever, new valve stems and TPMS. The vehicle came equipped with existing TPMS in perfect working order and valve stems which were in great shape. The wanted to charge me an additional $100. When I complained they agreed, quite rapidly, to not charge me for the afore mentioned items. Why did they install items I did not need??? You be the judge. Why didn't they call me on the phone number that was left with them??? You be the judge. I hope the new TPMS is of similar or better quality than the factory. Who knows? I would never change out a working system from the factory for an unknown product! Well you have been warned. If you choose to do business here be very careful and make sure to get a written estimate, copy in hand, before you let them work on your tires. read more

I had a slow leak in my driver side rear tire. The store repaired the leak and checked all my tire pressures. They did this without a charge. I buy all my tires from American Tire and Discount Tire. I drive a 911 Carrera, and I am very particular about the tire selection and tire installation equipment. Discount Tire has the type of equipment that installs tires without touching the alloy rims. I bought some old tires on the internet which turned out to be bad tires. Told them about the situation and my guy Dylan helped me out, totally took care of me. He sold me my tires brand new for 272.00 and then even comped me the cost of mounting and balancing them for me. Great guy. Today was my first experience with Discount Tire. My son has been a client of "DT" for several years and he asked if I could help him out and bring one of his vehicles in for his yearly exchange of winter for summer tires. Since this was my first visit I got to the store 10 minutes ahead of my 9:30 scheduled appointment. My positive impression began with the person checking me in: he was young, dressed in the company attire, polo shirt, slacks etc. and professional in manner. He had my name and information from the schedule my son had set up, checked my car's information , including using a hi-tech device to measure the tires I was planning to be put on for summer driving. He then directed me to a waiting area where he said a representative would be out in 5-10 minutes. Despite the fact that operation was humming with activity in 5 minutes (I checked my watch) I was directed to a bay to start the process. Once inside I met the individual who was handling my car for me and I knew I was in good hands, In less than hour I was heading home. I have been using Mr. Schwab's services since moving to Bend but am now planning to switch to "DT". read more
