In the winter I came to buy new tires. I had 4 perfectly good summer tires on the car at the time, which I bought as I planned to sell the car. I explained that I wanted to buy better tires which weren't snow tires but would be good in the snow and last long term. Because I upgraded in tire, we (me and the salesperson) decided it wasn't necessary to keep the old ones as these tires would last long term. Roll forward to today, I came in for a tire rotation and found out the tires are already super worn as they are purely winter tires. I'm so annoyed and frustrated, I've always had good experiences with discount tire but this one in Boulder has failed miserably. I won't be back. read more

I went to Big O Tires down the street to get my summer tires put in. The manager there told me they couldn't switch my tires out because my tires were expired from 2017. I went to Discount Tire to recycle them and Alex, an associate, asked why I was recycling them. When I explained they were expired he corrected me that they only expire after 10 years. I almost had to pay for an extra full set of tires, but thanks to Alex I avoided that! Discount Tires literally saved me hundreds of dollars! I am so thankful and will never go to another tire place in Boulder, they are so reliable and always helpful. read more

I was on a cross-country road trip and I noticed that my tire was about to have a blowout, so I drove to the nearest Discount Tire. Well, to make matters worse, there was a really bad impending snowstorm that was going to hit in a few hours, so they were extremely backed up attaching snowchains for everyone. I was in a bind because I had to get my tire fixed as fast as possible so that I wouldn't get stuck in the snowstorm. I bought a tire, jacked up my car in a parking lot across the street, and attempted to change the tire myself. Dumb dumb dumb idea. Putting a donut on is one thing, this was impossible to do without the right machine. So here I am, my car now jacked up and tire-less, and the flurries starting to fall. In my desperation, I asked them for help, and the manager moved some things around and had one of the guys put the new tire on. Best bunch of guys there are. Went to Discount-Boulder to get my snow tires put on. Well I showed up on the wrong day but they still got me in, which was great. Took my car to my Toyota mechanic a couple days later. Lug nut missing. Toyota mechanic said Discount used the wrong sized socket and destroyed all my lug nuts and that they all needed to be replaced. Went in to talk to them. No apology, guy seemed annoyed that I was there, he was condescending and patronizing. Toyota mechanic said I was the 3rd vehicle this week that had destroyed lug nuts or posts from service at this location. My boyfriend, who had has tires rotated the same day, also missing lug nuts. read more

Finding a nail in your tire isn't the best event to happen in your day to day life. I also knew my tred on my tires were almost bald. I quickly make an appointment online and got in the same day. Every interaction was super pleasant and swift as soon as I walked in. They were super helpful and I didn't feel I was being taken advantage of for being a young girl. They are willing to work with your budget and helped me pick out new tires even though I just came in for a tire plug. read more

I concur with the OTHER scathing review of Discount Tire on 28th St. in Boulder. They are by far the worst Discount Tire location. Their lack of caring and service however is not indicative of other locations. Bottomline, once they sell you a "product" (tires) they don't give a crap about you and will make it difficult to schedule any "service" that does not involve the purchase of new product. Specifically, we have purchased multiple tires from this location but each time we call back for services like a tire rotation or balance or wheel alignment or switching snows to regular or vice-versa THEY REFUSE TO SCHEDULE SERVICE EXCEPT BY APPOINTMENT WEEKS OUT.OUTRAGEOUS. Luckily each time after the 28th St. store's rude behavior I call another Discount Tire and I am able to get in the same day and JUST DROP OFF OR WAIT FOR SAME DAY SERVICE. When we changed winter to all season tires at home, we noticed one had a nail in it and needed replacing. Discount ordered us a new tire and mounted it on the wheel the next day. They pointed out how uneven the tread was and that it was a safety issue on an all wheel drive car. The store ordered us three new tires and installed them quickly the same day. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO TO COSTCO TIRE! AVOID THE SCAMS, THE AGGRESSIVE SALES TACTICS, THE HIGH PRICES, AND THE POOR SERVICE. I had gone to Costco tire right before coming here, which is where I bought my tires and where I always get great service. You will likely more than make up for the $60 Costco membership fee by the savings from Costco's prices, especially if you are buying a full set of tires. The nice folks at Costco said I had plenty of tread, but had a bent wheel and they don't fix wheels. So I came here . . . big mistake. The attendant took his tread measure device, stuck it on the side of the tread, and then claimed that the tire on the bent wheel was so worn that Discount "would have to replace it for safety reasons". In other words, they were going to refuse to give me a new wheel unless I bought one of their overpriced tires. Oddly, he didn't force me to buy a new tire on the other side, even though it had the same amount of tread. He did repeatedly try to sell me a tire for that side after I had clearly said "no". read more

I pulled up to discount tire and saw there were a ton of people in line and nearly left but then read a sign directing me to where I could get my tires checked. Going downhill RAPIDLY. Third time I called in the last week, to get somebody smart enough to find my account and match the tires I got a year ago for the same car from the range dealership. AND I CAN'T. A week ago, they could only find my old old car. Then the next guy I talked to kept telling me about some different tires than the ones they installed. Today I talked to TRENT (allegedly a supervisor there) who just refused to comprehend that I'm not talking about the LAST tires I bought in January, I was talking about tires I bought a year ago in JULY. I love the customer service at Discount Tire. Recently I hit a pothole. I took my car to Discount for a new tire. I was expecting to pay full price for the tire, even though I did buy them at Discount it had been more than a year. I was overjoyed to find out that they had looked into the warranty and it was still in place. I only had to pay $20 for a new tire. All the workers there seem to have good, old fashioned values; that is rare these days. I highly recommend this place. read more

I've definitely had my share of unintentionally being that annoying customer who haggles and fights to the end to get the best deal. I'm very frugal due to financial constraints, but also recognize the importance of loyalty and quality. I used to take my car to Discount Tire in Austin, and have always had good experiences without feeling cheated or sold. Today, I went in for a tire rotation only to find out that my tires were near their death. Not expecting to drop $400+ on ANYTHING right now, I spent about 30 minutes with Adam going over all the tire options he recommended for all-seasons. During that time, I called one other shop to see what they were offering, but still intended on purchasing from DT. After deciding on the tire I wanted, I gave a shot at asking if that was the best price they could do on it, while at the time, failing to take in account the extra costs for installation, tire disposal, taxes, etc. They were generous enough to give me a loaner tire to get me through the weekend while my new tires were on order, and even squeezed me in to the front of the line to have it installed quickly because I had an appointment I was going to be late for (due to all the time I spent asking questions about tires.) But once they gave me the receipt including a break down of each charge (and the out-the-door price,) that's when I freaked about the decision I had just made. To ease my mind about my decision, I called the other shop back (the one that had originally recommended tire X,) to find out if/what they charged for installation and add ons, to confirm that I didn't get ripped off at DT. That's when they had taken it upon themselves to BEAT DT's price out the door by over $50, making me doubt my original decision to go with DT. So I call DT back, explain the situation that I was now getting a price $50 lower with a better warranty (which was now a no-brainer to cancel DT's order and go with the other shop,) but I also had a loaner tire on my car from them so what to do now? That's when I spoke with Levi and he kindly explained some of the differences between DT and other shops, and mentioned that they don't want to be undercut or lose my business, so he linked up with Adam (my original rep) and they agreed to match the other shop's highly discounted price. The warranty was explained in further detail, and it was made known that the other shop had a SLIGHTLY better warranty than DT, but for the hassle, inconvenience to the reps, and willingness to work with me so much on the price for a tire that they didn't even carry in the shop, I ended up sticking with DT and feel comfortable with my decision. I recognize that there is a point of pinching pennies, and I definitely did that unintentionally, but when you're unexpectedly dropping $400+ when your wallet physically doesn't have that much in it, you start to become neurotic in your decisions (well, at least I do.) I really appreciate Discount Tire's honesty, patience, and willingness to work with me when they could have easily drawn the line and sent me to the other shop for being such a pain in their asses. Not once did they give me attitude or make me feel like I was inconveniencing them, and because of that, I will continue to do business with them. read more

After years of excellent service I am very sad to give this Discount Tire store a scathing review. My wife went in to get the tires on her 2017 forester rotated. We live on a mountain and travel up and down it quite frequently. The front tires needed to be rotated and even the local Subaru dealership recommended this course of action after our last service appointment. The technician/salesman at discount tire refused to rotate our tires despite the countless sets of high performance summer tires, winter tires and all season tires that we have purchased from them in the past. Instead, he tried selling my wife another set of winter tires. I just bought a set of Studded Nokian Hakkapeliittas and was waiting until there was more snowfall to mount them. My wife told him that I wanted them to be rotated because there is good tread left in the rear tires. He refused stating their corporate policy that they put the better tires on the rear to prevent oversteer. On most cars, the front tires are far more important to have better tread. After all, 100% of your steering, most of your braking and in our case 60% of the power is placed on the front tires. Why would you want better tires on the rear than the front? I don't mind oversteer. It is easily correctable unlike understeer. Then again, none of these people live on top of a mountain but believe that they have better information regarding driving up here. The information on tires (any tire) is all over the internet and any schmuck with a smart phone can google all the information they have. Unfortunately, this salesman still refused to rotate the tires and proceeded to talk down to my wife. Low and behold, we had our first snowstorm that stuck to the roads yesterday. Literally 25 seconds after we pulled out of our driveway, we understeered right into a ditch. The rear tires had plenty of traction, but that didn't matter because the front tires could not reliably steer the car in the correct direction. Had the salesman/tech rotated our tires like we had asked, we would not have ended in the ditch. I know the argument that they'll post...why didn't we put the Nokian's on? Because we had one snow day in October that didn't warrant putting snow tires on. If you look at the forecast for the next 10 days we have only sunshine and we don't want to burn out the brand new winter tires on dry pavement. I feel that he only cared about making commission on another set of tires: if not right now, then maybe next year when our winter tires are completely burnt out from driving on dry roads. Our brand new car now has scratches along the entire passenger side and there are some deep scratches on the rear passenger wheel. I will never return to discount tire after I get these snow tires mounted. If I hadn't already paid for the mounting service I would never return. read more

This place is the best! Always great customer service no matter who is helping you. I have come here for years and have always been super happy with the service. Did think I could be any more impressed until today. I went online and made an appointment for the same day, went to the shop and didn't even sit down and they called my name. They took my car and fixed my flat tire ( had a nail in it) and it was done in less than 15 minutes. Oh yeah and they did it for free with smiles on their face. They have a customer for life in me. Walked in here due to a flat tire but ended up having to replace. It was a busy holiday Friday so the wait was 1.5 hrs so that's to be expected. The employee was very frank and honest about the tire prices and he didn't try and up-sell me all the way which I appreciate. He did offer a warrant deal: $70 for free replacement/repair/tire rotations for the lifetime of ALL my tires even though I only bought 1 tire from them. This is a good deal in the long run I'd say due to weather/road conditions in Colorado. Labor cost was fairly cheap also. I'll be coming back here when something happens to my tires. read more

I came in to fix a leaky rear tire on my Audi Q5. They told me that in removing the tire the side wall gave out and that the tire would need to be replaced which they said they would do for free since the side wall failure seemed to be a result of the tire removal and not related to the cause of the tire leak. The went on to say that since the Q5 is an all wheel drive vehicle it would be advisable to replace all the tires since the differential in tread between the new tie and the existing tires could create drive train wear/problems. I confirmed that this was true. It was starting to look like the old bait and switch. I told them to just replace the one tire. The countered with a "discount" on the additional new tire set. So what started out as a simple fix a leaky tire was looking like a $650 tire snow job. I persisted in my view that the cause/effect for all this was not the original leaky tire but their removal of the tire which but for as we say in law school there would not be a need to be discussing $650+ in new tires. To my amazement the manager quickly agreed and ordered for all the tires to be replaced with new ones free of charge. I was truly amazed and appreciative at their quick acceptance of responsibility for this unfortunate turn of events. First rate customer service is often hard to come by these days. These guys really delivered. read more

This place is awesome. I walked in this morning at 8 when they opened to get snow tires. There were already several people in line. It's now 9:10 and I just got the text that my car is done. Crazy fast! And in every location, the customer service is always stellar. Plus if something happens to one of your tires they'll repair or replace it, and on an AWD vehicle they'll prorate the cost of the other tires, which is something I've taken advantage of in the past. Called ahead to see if they could change two tires, rep said yes. Load up tires, drive there. Customer service rep refuses to change them. States they are only taking essential work due to covid. I point and show him my completely bald tires, literally no tread depth remaining. They didn't consider this essential enough.
