So...I suddenly had a flat tire, called AAA and they were wonderful. They came and put my spare tire on and I inquired where they would suggest I take my, pretty new, flat tire for inspection and repair. They highly suggested Discount Tire. Early on Saturday morning I arrived at the Encinitas location of Discount tire. I went in half heatedly just knowing that I would be waiting among the masses for hours. Much to my surprise they had me in withing minutes. Within a short amount of time they technician escorted me into the buy area to show me what the problem was. I had a crack in the stem of my tire which leaked the air out. They replaced the stem, checked the remaining tires and added air where required, replaced my spare tire in it's stow away location, cleaned all four tires and then approached me with the paperwork. Much to my astonishment....there was no charge. My family and I are new residence relocated from the east coast so I did not purchase my current tires at Discount Tire but I will forever replace all of my tires at Discount Tire. You are a mark to them. Brought in my car that had a tire with a slow leak as I was told they fix flats for free. They got the otherwise good tire off of the car and said they would not let me put the tire back on and leave as it was a "sidewall" hole causing the leak. I asked to see the tire. There was a screw/nail in the normal SURFACE of the tire and the sidewall was a little cracked from the tire running low from the slow leak. BULL!. I had to buy new tires to avoid an argument with the 18-year old and simply get out of there. BEWARE: If you just have a nail in your tire and get a FREE flat fix from Discount tire, the "free" flat fix will cost you $150 to $300. UPSELLING SCAM (for poor little you's "safety."). read more

Great service!! Super friendly and helpful! I recommend buying your tires here too and using their certificate program. All your rotation, repairs and replacements are free!! Two years ago I bought my tires at this location. Then last month while out of town my tire abruptly went flat due to a nail in the sidewall. I was driving pretty much on my rim and had to pull into the first tire place I saw. (It was not a discount tire)The tire was unrepairable so I sadly had to buy a new one and spend over $100! Today I went by Discount tire to have a different tire patched (another nail, but luckily in a place easy to plug) well the nice guy working there noticed my "odd" tire and asked about it. I told him the story and he reminded me that replacement tires are free because I bought the Certificate program two years ago ! (Which btw was only $19 per tire) All I had to do was show them my receipt from the other place where I had to get the new tire and they refunded the cost of the tire to me!!! How awesome is that?! (They prefer you bring the old damaged tire in if you can). I am just overwhelmed at the customer service and thankful for the guys for helping me out and saving me $130!! David and Eddie gave me a similar (used) tire, placed my damaged tire in trunk and ONLY ACCEPTED A MODEST TIP ( with my deepest appreciation!!!) the following Monday I went to Hoehn Mercedes to get a new tire (was on guaranty). This review is more for Discount Tire Company rather than any individual store. I do have to say, the staff at all locations I've been to have been very friendly and helpful. I really wish the company would implement either a Test Ride or a Ride Along with their customer to quality check the completed work. I've lost count how many times (not to mention lost hours) I've had to come back into EACH store with issues that could have been taken care of before I hope back into my vehicle, thinking all is well. Most times, they get me right back into the garage to attempt to fix the issue, but every so often (today) I seem to be put back in line to wait another hour before my vehicle is seen. It's unfortunate, because they're prices are great. But with multiple return visits due to the lack of a Post Test Drive, I'm tempted to pay the extra money to get the work done right the first time elsewhere. over a week ago I came to Discount tire to have them put air in my tires. Nathan Russell put air in my tires. He walked around and showed me that my car was too dangerous to drive. The coils were exposed on my tires. My kids drive this car because it an older car made of solid steel. Used Friday lunch hour and made noon appointment for tire rotation. Checked back in at 1pm and car tire rotation had not even started and was informed car was not checked in as "appointment". I had made "appointment" myself on-line and checked in at noon at their front desk. I've been an avid supporter of Discount Tire but this lack of service has eroded my loyalty and will now consider my car dealer which has been trying to get my tire business for years everytime I have an oil change. I had a good experience today with Discount TIre, specifically with Oscar. I needed to get a new tire (nail in tread) for a car that we are going to be trading in next month. I probably could have had it patched but with the tread very low I didn't want the car to be unsafe for my wife. Understanding my situation, Oscar took me in the back to see if we could find a used tire instead of a new one. We did and it saved me over half the cost of a new one. read more

Marvin was the person I talked to. Two of my tires were getting pretty low tread and Marvin measured and said that they might last another couple of months and I could just wait till then or if I was ready, get two new ones and some credit on those I was replacing. I thought that was so darn honest; no high pressure, no sounding the alarm bells to make me think I needed all four and nothing else will do. Have you heard the wiper commercial on the radio? Basically, you don't want to wait until it rains to buy new wiper blades. Well, the same goes for tires, but they cost so much more, and it is hard to accept when to replace old tires. Once again Discount Tire showed me the high road for my family suv. They convinced me to buy new tires -- not my intention when I went in for a rotation -- and they managed to make things as affordable as possible. A week later, when I was driving in a storm in Utah, I was so thankful for their advice and action. I intended to write this review in January when this positive experience happened, but Discount Tire's recent helping with my daughter's flat tire called me to action. She drove in with a nail in her rear tire (we had not bought the tires there, but we were customers with two other cars), and Discount Tire did the repair for free. This kind of loyalty is hard to find these days. What an amazing company, and what a positive staff! I love these guys and I highly recommend them. read more

Amazing customer service. Bryce and Esau were just fantastic to deal with. One of my tires kept going flat so I took my car in fully expecting to have to buy a new tire. Bryce told me they would do their best to repair the tire so that I would not have to buy a new one. He called a couple of hours later to let me know they patched two holes in the tire and my car was ready to be picked up. Amazing service!! I got a new set of tires over 6 months ago and have been returning ever since. I came for a free tire rotation and Edgar went above and beyond great service. One of the other employees parked my car and reported the mileage to Edgar and he told me I hadn't put on that many miles and probably didn't need a tire rotation yet. Then he looked closely at when I got the tires and said he will double check the mileage himself. He did and ended up that I did need a tire rotation. This seems like one of the better managed businesses around. I was certain I had a top tire provider in a certain big C...., but then a friend convinced me to give Discount a try and I switched. I had been fooled by Discount's unassuming name and humble storefronts! Been there for several years now including the monthly free air checks and quarterly rotations, with no experience less than 'very good' and usually outstanding. Two sets of new tires & couldn't find a better price anywhere. The waiting lounges are ok, there's usually some coffee, and I'm continually amazed at the high employee morale & hustle at every location I've been to. They know how to treat a customer right. Normally I would give this Discount Tires a great review.... However my visit today changed my mind entirely. Marvin was the employee whom was available to help me out. He not only once, but twice tried to con me into spending more than necessary. I explained how I am a student and needed NEW tires but the cheapest possible option. He then told me the cheapest option was $130.00 per tire for my car. Little did he know I had called and had a quote given to me prior to my arrival. I asked him about the $75.00 each tires I was quoted with. He then looked at his screen without a click of a mouse or a scroll of a page and said... "Oh, we have those too" and turned his screen to show me. Now annoyed, I asked him for those tires and no additions other than normal fees. He then told me my new total and I asked to review it prior to agreeing to anything. Then I see an additional 90.00 charge for an additional OPTIONAL warranty. I asked him what it was there for and he quickly rebutted "oh ummmm I thought you would want that...". I did not want ANYTHING EXTRA! I am in college and don't work!!! Seriously. I feel like he tried to pull one over on me over and over again. I am sure he makes some sort of commission and I am absolutely appalled that he was so dishonest. By far- worst customer service for Marvin. I hope that this discount tires in which I use to rave about... Can repair my now major distrust for them. read more

I will never go back. Ripped off twice in one day by Discount Tire. Brought my Toyota 2006 Prius in because the air pressure light was on. They said that there was nothing wrong with the air pressure but told me I should replace all 4 tires even though the gauge showed I had a little more tread. I decided to go ahead because I wanted the pressure problem fixed and if I replaced the tires there would obviously be no further pressure problem. I paid and went out to the car only to find the tire pressure light was still on. They didn't even check.... Then they told me I needed to go drive it for 15 minutes and see if the light turned off. After my dad challenged that the guy went inside and brought a handheld tester out to the parking lot. He put the tester up against each tire and determined that two of the four tire pressure sensor batteries were dead. He said he was sorry they should have caught this and said he would only charge me for the sensor not the labor. He told me the sensor was $60 per tire. No charge for labor. I found out later today after paying over $500 for tires and over $250 for sensors that the sensor parts cost less than $10 each. What a ripoff. read more

I had bought my last round of tires at Discount after Costco refused to install tires because I did not want run flats and did not have a spare. I thought they were the 2nd best deal in town. I stopped off once to have them check my tires when my tire automatic pressure sensors detected a problem - they checked and filled it no hassle, no charge. Nice. What kicked them to the top of my list was the service - I has brought in my car on Friday morning before a Saturday camping trip to get a slow leak patched. Again no cost, no hassle - did not know that was part of the plan. Nice again. Later the same day I noticed the car pulling left, and sure enough the left front was almost flat. I took it back in, and they stayed a few minutes after to get me fixed up for my trip, again with no charge. These guys hustle, and provide a lot of service in addition to the rubber you get on your tires. I am not looking anywhere else for my next round of tires. You can't beat the value and service, imho. read more

one of my tires had a slow leak. i pulled out my warranty and it turned out that my tires were installed at one of their competitors in town.. kind of embarrassing!, but instead of sending me on my way, Bryce said he would take care of me. the technician oon my way in 15 minutes, without an appointment, despite a number of other customers in front of me. i wasnt sure how much i was going to get charged since they never sold me the tires, but i didnt care cause they were so quick. the technician said that i had a nail in the tire. he made the repair and balanced the tires after putting air in all the tires. he handed me an invoice at NO CHARGE, as if they had sold me the tires. there is no question where i will return next time and who i will refer my friends to. thank you so much Discount Tires for exceptional service when you were reaqired to provide none! read more
