Discount Tire - Another tire service - Tires Near Me - Plano, Texas

I've been coming to this Discount Tire store for years for all my new tire purchases and other tire related issues. I've always felt they were very honest and reputable...until now. Brought in a Ram 1500 4x4 for a simple "tire rotation" and left it with them. After 3 hours I called to see if it was ready for pickup and they said it was done and ready. Little did they know that I always "mark" my front drivers tire prior to dropping it off to make sure the tires get rotated. I take a picture of the front driver's tire showing the mark just to compare afterwards. After I picked up the truck and drove it home, I checked the tire "mark" and to my surprise and disgust, the tires were never rotated. The "mark" was still on the tire on front drivers side. Plus, they had the unmitigated gall to actually drive the truck to a different parking spot on their lot to try and fool me that it had been moved and serviced. Between Discount Tires and NTB, is there one effing honest tire store in the Metroplex????? Curious if the owner/manager of Discount Tires on Custer & Hwy 121 will have the cojones to reach out to me to apologize?? read more

I used to love Discount Tire but my experience in the past year has been lacking. I made an appointment at this location to get my tires rotated and balanced like I always do. All they told me was that my tires looked good. I didn't get a paper telling me about the tread life, tire pressure, or anything. Low and behold they didn't put enough air in my tires because the psi was low. They also managed to screw up my tire pressure sensors. When they rotated the tires, they didn't reset the sensors. The rear sensors are actually my front tires and vice versus. This is the third time that Discount tire has done this to me. Every time, I have to get the dealership to fix it because Discount Tire can't train their employees how to properly reset tire sensors and check for accuracy. read more

So I had a tire that kept going low. Took it back to discount tire to air up and they checked and it had a nail in it. But they also said the tire was nearly worn out and showed way more wear than the other three. I was shocked because I bought all 4 at the same time and only drive 8,000 miles since buying the tires! The other 3 were fine (although josh at this location lied and said I needed 2 new tires. We saw him use the measuring tool and all 3 measured the same)! So for a clearly defective tire it will cost me $100 to replace ? What???? Don't trust these guys. They should be replacing my high dollar defective Michelin tire for free or for the road hazard price, not for $100. read more

I originally scheduled an appointment at the 121 location but unfortunately was not able to make it so this facility had an opening and I reserved. I just needed a tire sensor and was charged over $30 more than my last visit. When I informed the salesman he mentioned that they must've forgot to charge me for labor just to check my history and see the time before that it was even less. In any case, he made an adjustment of $15 and ot wasnt worth pushing it any further but this is not the service I am use too from DT. In fact, at the other location they've tried to find ways to save me $$. I guess it's my fault for missing my appointment but never again. read more

Excellent service! Had a run flat tire blow out this morning, and called the store to see if they had any replacements in stock. I was informed that they would have two transferred from another location. My car arrived by tow truck around 1:30pm (no spare tire on my car), earlier than I expected to be at the store. The gentleman with whom I spoke in the morning didn't see I had arrived. He called me on the phone about 20 minutes later to say the tires had been delivered. Total wait time was right at 2 hours. I am a loyal customer from last 18 years, but today I went to buy a new tire and waited for long time, looks like they are done for the day, it was like 1:30 pm. Usually they greet you and ask for the reason but today even they don't look at the register that someone is waiting for them. I don't mind if someone ask to wait and I understand that, but this is totally rude and ignorance. After long time waiting there i was out of the door. Really very upset. read more

Made an appt for noon to have tires rotated. After waiting for 45 mins I brought it to their attention I had a noon appt. After a brief awkward conversation with the manager on what the definition of an appt means, he brought my truck in. In total, an hour passed before I was on my way. Customer service here is A1!!! I'm forever loyal to Discount Tires for my tire needs :') Online scheduling for appointments was a breeze, and thankfully they were able to fit me in the same day for a flat repair and rotation. I came in on a Friday late afternoon and honestly expected to be there until they closed because it was so busy. Thankfully I was in and out in about an hour and everything was good to go. I recommend making an appointment instead of walking in because they'll make sure that you get in and out as soon as possible! The service guy was great and informative about all of my questions. He was able to pull up our account so easily, and because the tires were still under warranty, the repair was free!! Nothing beats free stuff :) The only reason why I didn't give five stars was because they misplaced one of my metal valve caps made specifically for my car and replaced it with a cheap plastic generic one. That's understandable since those things are so friggen tiny however my inner OCD is telling me it's time for a whole new set now. Also, when the guy gave me back my car, he told me that the low tire light will still be there after a couple miles but I round tripped from Plano to Dallas and it was still on. Checked the tire pressures and everything was good so I just ended up re-setting the service light. No biggie. Other than that, I really enjoyed my visit here and their process was so convenient! read more

Fantastic team, location and service- I have been coming here for the last 3 yrs and spoke today with Matt. My service shop said that I need new tires, however Matt did some careful measurements and confirmed that because I had premium tires, I could easily get another 6-7k miles before a change. That confirmed what I suspected given i dont have any handling/ traction issues. Love it when I see honesty in daily life- thanks for saving some bucks and time. Will be back! read more

Horrible customer service!! You have 8 people waiting in your office and you answer every phone call as it comes in!! Being in customer service myself I know that the person standing in front of you is priority not the person calling in!! No one seems to know what they are doing either! I left with out knowing that my tires were flat (they are supposed to be at 35 and only had 10 in them). They never aired my tire back up when they rotated them. I had a set of Pireli tires put on in May, in December my tire sensor said I had a low tire on the back passenger. I put air in the tire and the sensor didn't go off. I assumed I had a bad sensor. (My tires were rotated twice since the instalk) I went out the next day and found a flat on the FRONT tire. I went to Discount Tire and I was told they made a mistake and didn't calibrate the sensors. The guy said we make mistakes...then he proceeded to try and charge,me for a new tire....$90 when I just spent $180 5 months prior!!! ... I guess the customers are supposed pay for THEIR mistakes!!!! Needless to say I did NOT pay for their mistake. My tires sensors were calibrated my tire replaced . My recommendation is never do business with this place. You lost a 15 tear LOYAL customer over trying to make me pay for YOUR mistake! . read more

So i want to start by saying that I've been a disount tire customer for years and they have always taken excellent care of my car's tire needs. Shame on me for not writing a review until now. My low tire pressure light came on tonight around 5:15 pm followed shortly by someone flagging me down to tell me my back tire was low. I had to stop at a gas station to put air in it and then noticed the huge nail sticking out of my tire. I went directly to the discount tire on 121 and custer. I made it 10 minutes before they closed. I fully expected to be turned away but instead they immediately took my infornation and said they'd have it ready 30 minutes. They did this with smiles on their faces even knowing they would be working past close. Not one person in the store looked put out or frustrated. I can't thank them enough for getting me back on the road so quickly! Ill be a customer for life!! read more

THE WORST!! These guys are "tire experts"? I had all 4 tires replaced about a year and a half ago at this location. I recently needed to replace my front two tires when I was told by firestone that two of my tires were the wrong size for my vehicle! No wonder they were wearing so much quicker than the other 2!! I'll be honest, i didn't believe them.. I asked to see the tires before they threw them away and sure enough discount tire gave me two completely different sized tires! I've purchased several sets of tires over the past few years from this Discount Tire Store. I've always been happy with the pricing and product availability. Last weekend my daughter and wife both got flat tires. Completely unrelated issues, and both cars had factory tires. Even though I hadn't purchased the tires from Discount Tire, they patched both tires at no charge. Service was excellent, especially from Orlando. I was ready to buy new tires (and told him so) for my wife's car, yet after inspecting the tires, he suggested I wait 3-6 months as current tires still have acceptable tread life. Orlando definitely playing the long game here and looking to build trust with customers through an honest approach. Refreshing to see and I will definitely come back in a few months for new tires. read more

They misplaced my alloy wheel centerpiece, and it's taken almost two months of back-and-forth nonsense to get a new one ordered. They claimed to order the piece, but when we followed up, it wasn't there. We had to drive the car back up there for them to see our vin number. Two weeks later, and the piece still hasn't arrived. Bought and paid for 4 sets of tires and all services/warranties before hand. The car was dropped off 4/14 Friday afternoon around 4:00pm. Staff called me at 6 for pick up for which I told staff I will just pick it up the next morning. Today Saturday 4/15 I came into the store thinking a simple pick up. Keys were given back to me. After checking my tires one of the tire is not the one I bought and paid for. I asked a staff to assist since there's a long line. The staff spoke to the manager (Michael) and manager told staff that "it's odd that they would do that and I still have to wait in line." It is now 8:50am I have been here since 8:05am. What's worse is I never receive an apology from staff and manager. Michael seems to avoid talking to me and have the staff talk to me he even went as far as trying to not make eye contact. Now I'm just waiting for my car to be re-service again. I am going to be late for my 9:30 brunch with family and friends. Oh and still not one apologize or even try to "bs" me on what happened. I will not come here again and I will not visit discount tire again for the next set since I already paid for the warranty. F U discount tire u guys just lost a loyal 8 yr customer. read more

So far so great! Walked in at 5:27 which is not too long before they close at 6 and they took care of me right away despite being busy. Most companies these days seem to cut you off if walking in 30 to 45 minutes prior to closing. But not Discount Tire. They are still taking customers at 8 till 6. I would recommend buying the $23.00 replacement DT offers as that is what I had when I purchased these new at another discount tire location. I had Firestone in Allen patch my tire when it went in for a oil change and it came back to me with two large bulges on the sidewall which Firestone refused to replace and claimed was not their doing. I explained to Firestone that they sell tires and would notice bulges when I brought it in since they had been so thorough as to notice the tire was a little low on air and recommended a plug. All that from simply going in for a oil change. At minimum Firestone certainly would know if it had bulges on the outside wall of tire before taking it off the rim. But I digress, I called discount tire and they said come on in its no problem to replace. So here I am. Greeted with a no problem attitude and let us take care of it for you. I was told it will take about a hour which is to be expected. Service was great and fast. Excellent and fast. read more

Unfortunately, I had a very poor experience. I went in to have the tires balanced and rotated. True, I admit that I had waited too long to rotate the tires, and per Discount Tire policy, they do not service tires that have tread less than 2/32nds. That was the case on 3 of the 4 tires. That is fine...my bad. HOWEVER, the sales rep, Orlando I think, began to give me the run around on everything else that was possible. He located a nail on the one serviceable tire, BUT DIDN'T EVEN SUGGEST TO FIX IT OR OFFER TO. After informing me of the tread issue, he stated that it is due to state regulations that he was not able to rotate the wheels, NOT a company policy. The state regs "might" be true, but I found no such information on TXDOT websites or sites discussing companies' responsibilities when a tire would not pass an inspection, NOR did Discount Tires' website discuss it. Their policy is because of safety concerns for their customers. Fine, I get it, but he didn't tell me that or anything remotely close! Then, we came in to look at a new set of tires. Now, I always ask about discounts or specials because if I don't, the answer is always no. Orlando said they did have some going on earlier this month but none currently. Guess what... on their website, they have rebates for Hankook tires!?!? $50 and $100 depending how much the tires are. Orlando only bothered to show me what was in stock at their store, which wasn't the Hankook's I found online (they have to be ordered, 3-5 day delivery), but nope. He wanted to get me into something today, regardless of my situation, which I told him that things are tight being the end of the month. So he showed me some $108 tires with 50 or 60k manufacture warranty, but I couldn't afford those. Then he went to some that were $81 per tire (don't recall if there was a warranty) of some brand I've never heard of, and Mr. Orlando stated and I quote, "this is an 'entry level' tire and won't be as good as the more expensive ones." What I heard him say was that this is an inferior tire that we have on hand and I'm going to get you to buy this now. Oh, those Hankooks I mentioned earlier, $77 per tire PLUS a $50 mail in rebate PLUS PLUS they have a 100k manufacture warranty. So $4 per tire savings times 4 tires plus the rebate is over $60... I can wait 3-5 days, but not the case for this guy. While I have some choice words I would like to say, this is a public post, so I'll keep those to myself. If he just would have told me all of this upfront, and did the right thing, I would have easily come back to him for the tires, and probably all my future business. I've worked in sales for over 20 years, and while I started out that way, I quickly realized that if you just do the right thing, be open, honest, and forthcoming with all the options, it may not pay off right that moment, but it is ridiculous how much repeat business, lifetime customers, and referrals you get!! I'm certain Discount Tire will not do anything about this incident, because I'm positive Orlando sells a lot of tires. BUT he could sell even more!? Whether I continue as a customer of D. T. remains to be seen. I'll have to look around some. Hope this helps anyone that comes across this review. Do a little research first before you jump all in and spend $500 or much more... and make sure you get a sales rep that's not just trying to make a quick sale. I did see the 5 star rating praising Orlando, and that's great, but he didn't give me the same service...or respect. read more

This company, or at least this particular location should be avoided at all costs. I recently purchased two new tires from them, one of which was to be installed on a newly refurbished wheel that I had bought elsewhere. After doing their initial inspection, they told me that the new wheel was damaged/bent, and they could not install a tire on it. They then tried to sell me four new wheels for around $1,000. I decided to get a second opinion and took the wheel to Firestone to get it checked. They tried in on two different rotation devices and could find absolutely nothing wrong with it. Firestone then installed the tire, mounted the wheel, and did the balancing for $20 while I waited. When I called Discount tire to complain, the assistant manager said he would let the mechanic know who had checked the wheel. That was it. No apology. Nothing. I thought the days of garages scamming customers was over, but apparently it's alive and well at Discount Tire in Plano. read more

Richard Lewis and his crew are absolutely the best in Texas. I went in on Monday 5/15/17 to test fit some bigger tires on my truck after I installed a level kit. Even though they didn't have the tire I really wanted Richard and Orlando still offered to do a fitment check on a comparable brand. They told me it would only take a few minutes to check it out and IT DID!!!! After we verified the bigger tire would work I had to decide on which of two brands I wanted due to them not being in stock. I slept on the decision and made up my mind. I called back Wednesday 5/17 and Richard was off that day. I spoke to Orlando (who blew me away with positive attitude and professionalism on the phone.) I told him I would not need the tires for about a week, he called me back 3 hours later and said they were in stock and even got the new lug nuts I needed. I set an appointment for today at 3:30, I arrived and walked in to a hammered busy show room. Orlando, Joe and Benny were working the sales counter like pros.. there was a line almost all the way to the door and they were still able to focus on the customers in front of them, acknowledge everyone in line and answered the phones all at the same time. Shortly after being checked in Billy pulled my truck into the shop and began to get my truck knocked out.
