My name is Brenda Turner and I want to give a review for this Mavis Tires and Brakes location at 4900 Plano Parkway, Plano, TX 75093. I went to have an Alternator and Battery changed in my car in December 2025. I also had Front End Brakes put on and two Filters replaced. The cost was $2396.78. My reason for going there was that one evening the Battery light came on in my car which led to every light in the dash board coming on. I called Mavis to see if I could bring my car in to see what was going on with my car. I had my car towed in to their shop. I was told that they would change the Alternator and the Battery. It took them 6 hours to complete all the work that was needed. Everything seemed to work fine except the next day the Battery light came back on in my car. I called to let the shop know what was happening. I brought it back in and was told they would change the Battery. The Battery and the Alternator they put in was new and under warranty. I left and my car drove fine and no battery lights coming on. However the next day the Battery light came back on and it never went off. I then had my car towed to the dealership, which is where I should have taken it in the first place. The dealership called me the next day to let me know that the PCM had been stripped from my car and it was done by someone crossing the wires between the Battery and the Alternator. The dealership stated they could not even get a charge by doing a Diagnostic due to the PCM being stripped. The dealership had to have a PCM made for my car from the Specs of my car and it took two months for the PCM to be completed and shipped to the dealership. The cost to have the PCM replaced in my car was $945.00. After I got my car back after two months, I went to Mavis to let them know what happened and to see if they could/would re-imburse me for the work they charged me. I was told by the Manager that there was nothing they could do about it and that my Chrysler 200 was notorious for the PCM blowing out. I told him that was not TRUE. I told him I was going to go to someone higher in their company. I filed a complaint and someone called me and stated they would investigate. They came back to me and said they were not going to re-imburse me for the damages they caused to my car. I do not recommend anybody to take their vehicle to Mavis Tire and Brakes. They are heartless and to me all they care about is taking your money. The Manager of that store and the person who took the complaint should be fired. I am going to post this complaint to every Review board that is available. read more

I was looking for a somewhere close by that was still open and not busy. I could feel other shops didn't want to deal with me late in the day and offered a morning appt the next day. However, when I called NTB/Mavis shop I was pleasantly surprised at how helpful & friendly Derek was right off the bat. I asked if they were busy as I was debating on whether to rush in or do a morning appt. Derek quickly took my info over the phone and invited me to come on in. Kim greeted me as soon as I walked through the door. (I believe she was the manager on duty.) She had my car checked and explained everything. Btw, I overheard Kim speaking with other customers and was impressed with how knowledgeable she was. It made me feel confident I was in the right place. Honestly, like many, I have a fear of being taken advantage of...especially being female and not car savvy. However, overall I felt so relieved driving away with a safe fixed car. All my little questions were answered. Per my husband and KBB, the price I paid was competitive and fair. There's so many auto stores/mechanic shops in this area but based on my experience, I would feel comfortable coming back again. Thank you again Derek and Kim for taking care of me. read more

Great Service! I used another location, but this is closer to my house. Very clean, friendly, COVID Compliant. Will take care of you and not try to upsell you services. I had issues with the TPMS System lights blinking. Checked my system, refilled air and reset it. No charge. They also tested my 3 year old battery and I will probably have to replace it at the next freeze. read more

I made an appointment for an oil change, alignment, and state inspection. They didn't have a licensed inspector at the time but that wasn't the problem. I waited almost 1 hour just for my car to make it into the garage to get worked on. 1.5 hours later they are ready to check me out. There was no communication done here but they never did my alignment. So I was there for 2.5 hours for an oil change even when I had an appointment? I think it was just an inconvenience and wish they would communicate regularly with the customers waiting. I'm not sure I'll return. read more

I tried requesting extra work that I did not pay for already and he attempted to make it work out along side Cameron. Yesterday due to an unexpected staffing issue at the NTB Plano Iocation I encountered a most disappointing day and left the shop in a "huff". Today, I met with the manager who was most professional in explaining the circumstances. Further he was genuine in his concern and resolved the issue by immediately delivering the service. Whatever you do, don't buy tires at NTB on Custer next to the Home Depot. This is the worst NTB Location I have ever experienced, except for the one on 75 (But now I am finding that the one on 75 moved to this location, lucky me). I have tried at least 3 times to get a flat on my wife's car fixed. In case you don't know... When you purchase the tires from NTB you are also purchasing a warranty, along with free flats fixed and rotated and balanced at no charge. (transpiring over 2 weeks it was a slow leak), 1st time they had the car they had it for over 3 hours and said they fixed it and didn't The second time I went up there they told there was no way to do any flat repairs today because they only have one guy in the shop. 3rd time I dropped and was immediately told, that they only had one guy in the shop, and it may be 5pm before they could get to it. Learning from my past 2 trips, I had a ride with me so I could drop the car off. They called me at 6:15p (they close at 7p) to tell me they are just now getting to my repair, and did I need the car tomorrow? I told them yes, I need the car tomorrow, this is just a flat repair, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes?? She said OKAY we will fix it and hung up. 5 minutes later Ramsey calls me from NTB saying there is a leak in the tire, but it is too close to the side wall, so they are unable to fix it. Never tried to sell me any more tires, because Ramsey is ready to go home. I told Ramsey to put my car back together and I would be up there to get it. This place has been a cluster F$@k since it went in. I picked up my car, drove it home, got my tire plug kit out and fixed the leak in under 5 minutes. Why did I not just do it myself in the first place you ask? It is a matter of principle and selling good folks tires and offering a warranty is worthless if they are always looking for an excuse to not honor the warranty. The product is always only good as the people selling it. By the way, I purchased a set of tires from the NTB on Plano parkway by accident (clicked the wrong store when ordering online), and they had all four tires changed out, new pressure sensors, rotated, mounted and balanced in less than an hour and a half. So, it is just this NTB is what I am saying. Piss poor management. Nobody wants to work. I can do without paying for excuses. Have a nice day everyone! Carry on! read more

Went in for an alignment and was told I would need $2xx.xx worth of extra spacers on top of their alignment fee and wait a day for the part to arrive. As I was looking online to see the parts costing a TINY fraction of what I was quoted. I told him to let me sit on it. After I came back to NTB later in the week, another employee told me I didn't need it. My tips for this location to keep customers: just shoot straight, less upselling and don't take 2.5 hours to complete an alignment. read more

This review is for the Plano Custer/independence location. NTB has one of the most economical deals for an oil change. Plan on spending between 1-1/2 to 2 hours for it, even with appointment, as work can progress slowly. Tire rotation is included; however, I recommend chalking your tires beforehand in the event the rotation was overlooked. read more

The store manager (Ramsey El-Shahawy) is NOT QUALIFIED to run a store. I had an appt this morning at 10am and I was on time. Ramsey said it would take about 45 min and I was next in line. I did not wait in the store and rode my bike home. As of 1:40pm, 3 hrs 40 mins later my truck has not even been started to be worked on. Ramsey said, he put other vehicles ahead of me because they were waiting in the store even though I had an appt. He made the excuse he only had one technician. One tech or NOT you honor what you told me and the policy of NTB. Otherwise, what is the point of having an appt. I called and spoke to Sharlita in your customer srv who I gave a much more detailed accounting of the events. Ramsey even admitted to me that he lied to me when I called him on his actions. This is unacceptable and he SHOULD NOT BE THE STORE MNGR, PERIOD!!! This NEVER happened when John Goodrich was the store mngr. NEVER. read more
