Hello, I was aresident here. I have read all the comments and thought. I thought I would share my experience. I will say my big concern here was the waste of paper, ink, and envelops. This community claims to be green, but waste a lot of it. For starters, they are always sending out flyers, advertising, and whats going on in the community this way. A worker goes to every single apartment and leaves a letter. What a waste for our environment! How about daily emails? Why not have our very own email just for Discovery Heights residents? Everyone is assigned one at time of move in and thats how you communicate. We then can proceed to them calling themselves green again, but not really. They send out letters about residents not doing our part in helping out earth and doing our share to make it a better place. But, there is no trashcans for, separate trash, compost or recycling anywhere in their buildings/clubhouse. Everything inside the clubhouse has a trashcan. But everything gets put into it. So they themselves who harp on residents dont even lead by example. I find this to be very strange. I find the maintenance men opening up bags of garbage. That are in the dumpsters where residents dispose of our items. I say to him, may I ask why your going through others trash? The man replies, well we are suppose to try and find out what residents and not doing their part. As in recycle, trash and compost. Now, I believe this is alittle disturbing for workers to go through my trash to try and find some sort of identity. To target the correct resident and fine them for this! Your going to try and fine me, when you dont even equipped to dispose of items properly in the clubhouse or common areas. Then theres the trashcan by the mailboxes, only one. And i have watched the workers throw the entire bag into trash. Inclding all the weekly newspapers that clearly sould not go into the trash containers. And they are claiming we arent doing are part. This place seems to call out residents for everything. But lets sweep what we do under the rug. Then I have 2 well behaved dogs. I have been harassed the a few children who lived here about dog walking, dog sitting, etc. I told the girls several times no, sorry I take care of my own dogs. I have had these girls leave computer printed flyers on my door too. Now not only did they leave them on my door, but several others as well. This isnt very green. And a big waste. Not to be mean, but these kids arent old enough to take care of themselves let alone my dogs. I have been working from home and to hear a knock on my door. I look out, to see all black thru my peephole. Come to find out its the same kids asking to take care of my dogs! I say no. I did go to office to ask what to do. But come to find out its the managers kids who are doing this. I take my dogs to the dog park here on property, to find the flyers the girls made on the fence with rocks sitting on them to keep them from blowing away. But the flyers are already blowing all over the complex. Now this isn't green at all. And how can these very young girls not only solicit us residents but waste so much paper and ink. These girls but their actual names, phone number and email address on here. How can they get away with printing all this material and not one person stop them? I guess this gets over looked if your moms the manager her. And these girls even told me that when I asked them how were they doing all this. This is not helping the environment at all. Not very green either. The dog park does have alot of waste in it. Owners dont obey the rules, not many people have voice control of their dogs. So your dog does get a lot of abuse by uncontrollable dogs. The sign clearly states to keep dog on leash unless your dog is voice controlled. With no management watching over it, this wont change. As for couples with children, Its really rough to live here. There is not a nice play area, unless you want your kids play on the side of the little hilly one with lots of big boulder rocks surrounding it. I dont know what person did that. Which leaves alot of kids to run wild and crazy, just because theres not alot of outside activities for them here. They built a massive dog park, that not kept up and managed. But put nothing into a play area for elementary aged children. So the command turf area is a nightmare. But, that is really their fault for not thinking that through. Parking is a real nightmare. There is never enough for everyone. And they do not enforce towing here. So be prepared to pay for garages. Sound, you do hear everything. I have people who will beat on the walls, I have had residents come to my door yelling at me. And I have been taking blame for noises when i Havent even been home. When its other neighbors who are so loud the peolple below me assume its me. So sound barrier here, isnt sound barriing at all. Hope this helps anyone who is looking for real life experiences. I have never been treated worse than I have by management and leasing staff of Discovery Heights apartments in the last several months. Here is the back story: They had a major staff change when a new building was built a few blocks away, most of Discovery Heights staff went there (understandably so, to seek better opportunities). There was only person left who lied, and kicked us out of a community room so she can take a Zoom call. They hired a new manager, who moved up from California, and it's bee rough to say the least. She refuses to answer calls or emails. When she did call me back she spoke to me the way a middle school PE teacher speaks to stoners skipping class. Here are the issues: HNN Communities (corporate property management) refuses to renew leases due to "Eviction Moratorium" Property manager met with me and advised that they will not renew anyone's lease until the eviction moratorium is lifted. When, the eviction is lifted they will offer us a lease at "market rate". Currently, marker rate is advertised as more than 30% what we currently pay. I have countless emails and service requests asking for this to be communicate in writing - which have all been ignored. Rooftop deck. It's completely outside but have been closed since the beginning of Covid (March 2020). While the garden and the dog park are other outdoor amenities have been open. I have met with management, emailed corporate and have not received any communication on when they plan to re-open. I organized a poll within some residents and all have been told different reasons as to why the rooftop is closed. Gym is advertised as a 24/7 amenity, and they opened it back up after being closed due to COVID, they only open it during leasing office hours: Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm. Closed on holidays. Who works out during work hours? Also, the reservation system is not monitored and the door is opened with a FOB key so staff presence is not necessary and they are rarely there. On June 29th,2021 during an extreme heat warning, we had window washers show-up and start washing our windows completely unannounced. This was a huge violation of my privacy: I was walking around mostly naked as it was over 100 degrees. Second, water got inside, because windows were open. Third, workers were forced to work outside during a heat warning with no shade and no breaks. Lastly, they left behind materials and trash that Discovery Heights did not clean up even after I submitted several maintenance requests to do so. Again, I reached out and left several voicemails for management, I wasn't offered an apology and there was no responsibility taken. Window washers missed a few windows and had to come back again - this time management just a placed a half-sheet of paper on the door, without clear times. Lastly, I have spoke to a lot of my neighbors (some are amazing, some are moving because of management's refusal to renew leases, and some don't follow community guidelines). I have heard a lot of issues regarding people smoking in their units (this is a non-smoking community), late-night noise, and leaving garbage around the community. Management has refused to address any issues during eviction moratorium. Lastly, if you're still here. Please read Yelp reviews carefully, some reviews are left by people who have never lived here. Most importantly, Discovery Heights have offered waiving of fees for residents who remove negative reviews without actually solving the complaints. I know for a fact that there was a recent negative review that was taken off. The resident still lived here and still furious as his issues were not resolved but they waived the lease termination fee, so he took the review down. This is not a good business practice and should be illegal. read more

I have lived in Discovery Heights for the past 2 years. Wow, to say the least it is absolutely HORRIBLE. Before I get into it, NOBODY LIKES YOUR LOUD SINGING IN THE CLUBHOUSE. IT IS DISTRACTING AND ANNOYING. TAKE YOUR HEADPHONES OFF AND GO OUTSIDE SOMEWHERE. If you are wondering what that is, one of the other apartment members likes to come down and sing very loud at all times of the clubhouse hours. Not only is it unreasonably loud, it is very distracting and annoying. Wake up calls are everywhere in this place. Besides that there are multiple reasons why this place is a terrible living area. First things first the neighbors are rude, noisy, disrespectful, and don't take good care or the place. Kids very well under the age limit roam the clubhouse screaming, running around causing chaos. Why one might ask? Because the manager does not take care of the matter. The billiards table was once a fun place to relax with the family. What happened you might ask? Well due to the unsupervised children under the age limit not being kicked out of the clubhouse, the once decent table is now all scratched up, the sticks are chipped up and dull at the top, and you can never find the chalk. The movie theater is always filled with trash. How hard can it be to look on the camera and see who has left the trash?? Well let's go outside. The once peaceful area to play sports or lay out on is now a chaotic and loud free for all. The turf is the worst place where the kids are. There is not one day were I walk outside and I do not hear screaming and swearing. This is an everyday occurrence. Balls are always flying through the air getting into other peoples patio, windows have been broken. There is not even a bench to sit at anymore because it was removed due to the damage caused by the teenagers kicking the soccer ball at it with full force. Was anybody punished? No because the manager is not taking her responsibilities as a manager to do something about the problems. Everything at discovery heights is poorly done and cheap. The basketball hoop can no longer be lowered because maintenance has not done anything to fix the rust buildup and the way it sticks. It wouldn't be a hard problem to fix, it is just the laziness of the complex. Yet again the bench on the turf was removed because of idiotic kids. Just fix the bench and punish the kids. The gym. I don't think there has been one day I have come into the gym and something hasn't been broke. I can not recall a perfectly working gym here. The grills outside in the courtyard are always full of nasty buildup from users not cleaning it after their use. Kids always taking flowers and rocks and like to stick them inside the grill. Mmm that's tasty huh. The pools grills are no longer available to be used because of the drunks of the apartments. Speaking of drunks, let's not forget about when the the apartment drunk was wasted and decided to pull a knife and threaten a man. But don't worry she was only in jail for a little time and she is back still getting drunk wandering around at all times. Nothing was done to her by the manager and she could be considered a very big problem. Overall this place is not recommended. The leasing agents are very kind but when it comes to the real management, it's a complete joke. She is not a good manager. This place is not a very good place to live. It is mediocre and cheap. I wouldn't recommend this place to even a person looking for a temporary home. This place is in prime location for the up and coming issaquah highlands. But the was this place is, well it's far from being decent. From all the kids and horrible management to the cops coming for drunken rages Discovery Heights is horrible... read more

Trying. To be polite. They absolutely never gave any of your deposit back I have been through it twice. Even after I brought in my service dog they continually charge me $309 a month which they're not allowed to charge anything and a deposit of $409. $309 at 2 1/2 years is quite a bit of money before I even got my bill it was sent to collections LOL they want $2500 for replacing carpet that they said was covered with pet urine which I would admit but the dog never ever ever urinated on the carpet. They have absolutely no time for natural wear and tear they want you to give them a new apartment every time you move out. I'm finding thousands of dollars worth of overage charges that were promised me to have been changed. They go through a lot of management I harbor no ill will towards any person just how horribly it's ran. It's funny I paid 200+ more a month to go monthly so I figure they would make up even more but these ridiculous over charges. No attempt was made to clean the carpet. Because the animal urinated on the porch on pads I guess they assumed it Peed all over the carpet LOL. Send me a bill for $2400 and they overcharge me a lot more than that even rented me my first unit and I work from home I was wondering why I wasn't getting paid and I found out the address had not been registered yet had to go a month and a half without any income until all the checks were returned my vendors. No apologies I'm a builder and this place was not built to multi dwelling standards. Extremely loud upstairs downstairs next-door I highly recommend unless you enjoy being ripped off for thousands of dollars like I was don't even consider this is a place to do well. They will turn on the fans outside at 8 AM to wake you up units will be 100+ degrees inside because there's no decent barrier against the sun.. I was told the carpet had to be replaced hoops they made a mistake the mentor linoleum well that's kind a hard because I don't have any in my unit it's all tile in the bathroom. I noticed the manager when I first met her was being very combative to one of the tenants and I asked her do you enjoy your job? And she looked at me gave me this scary smile and said she loved it? She is new I'll give her a few months she's really trying to stick it to me. Have you ever been sent to a collection agency before you've even received your bill? The bill was all wrong and they said they were attempt to straighten it out oh we're sorry we were charging you thousands extra for the dog who is a service dog that everyone loves I was like and say take lots of pictures and have an attorney ready when you're ready to move read more

As my experiences here at Discovery Heights continue to improve I am leaving another review. DH has always received a 5 star rating from me. After living here for over 3 years I wish I could give it an even higher rating. My family and I live a spacious 3 bedroom. I have wonderful long term neighbors with whom I have formed kind and sincere relationships with. My children are growing and playing with my neighbor's children. We swim in the heated pool comfortably even when it's below freezing outside. The complex is a diverse mix of professionals and homemakers. I love it here! My kids love it here! My husband loves it here. The staff are EXCEPTIONAL. Just yesterday I went down at 8am to get my free morning tea and put in a work order. It was fixed in a less than an hour. That's how it has always been for us here. The staff are so attentive and genuine! On many occasions the staff here have gone so far and above my expectations of them to help me resolve work orders, mail issues and what not. Leasing staff are clean, professional and well educated on the apartment community. The maintenance team is exceptional and very good at what they do. Management on several occasions has been understanding and helpful with me. Thank you so much guys for all you do! You are appreciated. read more

I'd rate this zero but there's no option to. There's been cars broken down or stolen left in the parking lot since spring. Also cars have expired tags all over (don't know what that's about). People let their dogs defecate wherever. Roving gangs of ill behaved children. Crackheads constantly wondering around the premises at night. Inept, racist, bigoted and LAZY manager. Theresa, from central park east in Bellevue, can't manage her way out of a paper bag. Won't answer calls. Won't help with anything you need i.e washer broke, need a new microwave, need light bulbs changed. Gives an attitude whenever you HAPPEN to get ahold of her. Rolls eyes at members of the community, like they're a pain to deal with. Recently allowed tenants to use amenities, but the rooftop furniture is covered in bird crap and nothing has been cleaned whatsoever in what seems like years. Broken and dangerous gas grilles. Just all around the WORST possible place you can live without being homeless. I'd rather live in the hood near crackheads. Same things happen here. PLUS the rent just keeps going up AND they won't renew tenant leases. Month to month so they can raise rent whenever and/or force people out. New suckers beware. DONT RENT HERE!!!!! 8/02/2014 Discovery Heights Apartments of Issaquah, WA is a 4 1/2 stars place to live at. I reserve the other half for just in case something goes wrong and we'll be covered!! LOL. Since September of 2011 I've been a resident of Discovery Heights Apartments in Issaquah, WA and will continue on living here for years to come. This community is nestled in a beautiful wooded area of Issaquah with above average square footage and high ceiling units which is well managed and well-kept. The management and staff are very friendly and attentive. Judy who is the Investment Manager on-site has an open door policy with a big smile and open ears to empathize with anyone that has a concern here. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. The maintenance group is always hard at work to keep this place clean and attractive. P.S. Wow!! I am so amazed by some of the comments I've seen in this media. I know there are some unpleasant situations caused by some of the residents from time-to-time but, is it the fault of the management and the staff of Discovery Heights "of course not". This community like all others out there has its share of the good, the bad and the ugly situations. read more

If you don't know how home living can be stressful or harassment/humiliation is, come stay and experience in this apartment. There is zero level of noise protection. You will get a call from the management even for walking, cooking and normal activities. I am Desi and I was yelled by a neighbor to go back to Desh and calling "F" words on the kids and family. That is how much hatred is here. But, management leaning towards the long leased neighbors. Even the management told me several times that these buildings aren't built to the level of expectations. If you live on 1st floor, you are the king and you can compliant/yell about anyone. The place attract tenants by the amenities, but honestly living here is a hell. Not safe for a peaceful family. Long story short, if you have kids or you are a Desi, stay away from this place. You can think I am an odd man reporting this, but you will experience what I have said, if you live here. This place rocks! I moved in late Sept 2013. The community is fabulous! The amenities are incredibly generous. There's a 24 hour fitness center, indoor pool, hot tub, gym, indoor and outdoor entertainment areas, movie theater, in building storage spaces, dog walking park, and pea patch areas. The staff and management here are very professional. They always treat me with respect, know my name, and are never too busy to say hello! They are also friendly, considerate, and delightfully funny! There's awesome sunsets, trees, grassy areas and parks for the kids, and beautiful landscaping! I could go on and on. I'll just end by saying that I moved out of an apartment complex just up the road on Issaquah Pine Lake Rd where the manager of the complex was downright rude and disrespectful to me. And I wasn't the only one present who felt the same way. Discovery Heights has been a dream come true! read more

The manager ruins this place. Nobody likes her she shouldn't manage anything but herself. She lies about almost everything just to prove a point. She has no reasons behind anything. I don't understand how you can open up this place and let people sign a lease to move here when everything changes (like the coffee and the clubhouse hours) There is never coffee over there, because now it closes down at certain times and the clubhouse closes at 9 now. I don't understand how that should be allowed. And how can I not mention how the terf is apparently going to be changed and the benches already been taken down because of kids. What a joke! I hope to see a class action lawsuit against HNN. The only people that actually still work here are those who cannot get a better job. That says a LOT when there is a worker shortage. High turn-over and have not been able to staff the leasing office for months. They are constantly running paid ads to get someone to work here. But the person they hired as a "leader" the community manager who has been fired from a previous job for her lack of customer service and management skills. She uses slurs to describe her customers and refuses to mask up consistently even when touring new units. read more

Where do I even start... Well my apartment was entered without my permission, staff denied it happened. So I confronted them with not only with the ticket from the staff but the time they signed it with their signature. So they tried to lie then manager called to apologized. So thats an invasion of privacy and its against my privacy rights and not to mention the law. I have been relalitated against by the manager, because I contacted Corp about several unresolved issues that were constantly reoccurring on a daily basis. While the apartment units are nice, there is very little access to any of the amenities. The pool, game room is only open Tuesday - Saturday from 9-5 and even then the pool gets closed all the time because maintenance can't keep the chemicals balanced. The front office rarely answers the phone so it is impossible to reach anyone. In addition, they just increased the cost of trash to $36 a month and no that's not for concierge. Many things are in need of repair and no progress is made. Not worth the prices they are advertising. read more

I went in just to see if I could take a look at the apartments, but was turned away telling me there were no units for me to look at. If I see a sign with balloons and posts like crazy on Craigslist, I am assuming there would be an open apartment for my family and I to at least look at. Do NOT rent from here. There is no staff, no management for residents, only for touring. After you move in, you will be ignored. Work orders will be ignored, phone calls and voices mails will be ignored. False advertising and a racist manager. read more
