I finally called and talked to a guy named Dan. I could tell Dan was sorta a computer geek. He was talking to me about ports, overlapping signals etc... He actually seemed knowable and trustworthy. We have been getting mailers about AT&T doing "Free" upgrades to fiber optics. So decided to up grade which is supposed to get us a better router, multiple signals and faster uploads. Appointment set for a few days after the call between noon and 4 to get it all set up. Supposed to take up to 4 hours. Two days later: Got the call from the tech about 1:05pm he was on his way. About an hour after the tech showed up I got another visitor. A young man who said he was my consultant. So he came in and we set up the Smart Home Manager app. Then he wanted to talk to me about our cellphones. I told him the companies we were with and that we were happy with them. He mentioned free phones and a $$gift card. I said nope wont be changing cell phone carriers. I didn't tell him but I don't believe in giving one company all my business. If that one company has issues then you are screwed. And my WiFi in my car is AT&T and it constantly drops my signal. Right at 4 hours later the tech was done and everything seems to be working. With new technology I didn't have to reset passwords on every item that was connected. That was great. He left behind the old battery backup for the broadband phone. He had to come back in and take photos of the new outlet and I asked him about it. He said it was costing the company too much to dispose of them so they just leave them behind. Im hoping I can at least take the battery someplace to be recycled. So far so good. Time will tell if this was a mistake.

I was like um, I'm calling to cancel my internet because it's so bad where I live. They don't offer Fiber where I am located (Sobro area). I explained it's been spotty ever since I got it. Finally, I was told I'd have an email with further instruction on equipment return (modem and power cord) within 24 hours. I'm not certain that I'll receive it, but we shall see. If not, I'll be calling AT&T back.

So I decide to change my service to T-Mobile and cancel Xfinity since my contract was up. I went to my Xfinity app and I tried to cancel service. Nope can't do it. I was told that I have to make an appointment and speak to an operator. The soonest appointment was five days away and true their word they called me. Now if you are canceling Xfinity get ready for this... First of all, I was asked why I'm canceling my service? Um because I want to. I told them that I am going to T-Mobile that they were offering me a better price. That triggered Xfinity to offer me a better price. I declined. Then a better price after that. Again, I declined. After that I got transferred to somebody else who then tried to probe me and get more information as to why I was canceling other than price. I proceeded to tell them that I am bundling my wireless with my Internet with T-Mobile. That triggered another offer. Again, I declined. All in all I spent about 45 mins listening to Xfinity beg me to remain their customer before I was able to cancel my service. At the end of the call, I had the option to schedule an appointment to return my box and the only location they had was the Avon store the following Sunday @ 5:00pm. Ugh! Ok 16 miles away but ok, anything to get rid of Xfinity at this point. When I got to the store on Sunday they were busy and I waited in line. There was a man and a woman helping customers. When my turn came I got the woman, I put my box up on the counter and she said we can't do box returns at this store, that their server was broke and I needed to take it to a UPS store. Pfff! So I go back to my car and I googled the closest UPS store 4 miles away. I got to the UPS store and they closed at 3:00 pm. Now at this point, I get back into my car and I'm not gonna lie, I'm feeling trapped. I'm feeling cornered like I just cannot get rid of Xfinity! After having a good think about this, I decided I'm gonna try a different approach. I go back to the Avon store stand in line and this time I get the man. Now I can tell by the look on his face that he remembers me and remembers the woman telling me that they can't take the box back. I proceed to tell him that I was moving and that I had a flight tomorrow morning and I have absolutely got to return this box!! I picked up my phone and I showed him my appointment. Reluctantly, he says OK and tells me to step over to this table in the back that has a computer on it. We sit down and he starts to process my return. As I'm sitting there, it's starting to occurring to me why they sent me away. They work on commission and I am not commission. After he processed my return and I had my receipt in my hand, I told him I'm sorry but I lied to you that I wasn't moving and I'm not leaving on a flight tomorrow morning. He started to laugh and asked me would I still leave him a good review? Sure so here it is. Shout out to Brian at the Xfinity store in Avon for being tricked into making him do his job. It's a shame you have to consort to these kinds of tactics just to get people to do their job. If you are thinking of becoming an Xfinity customer Mazel tov!

My DirectTV isn't showing up. I only have connectivity with my phones. I have tried resetting my box but that doesn't help. so now I'll have to go into the store and I don't have time. I think I need a more reliable provider and definitely one I can contact a human.

Guy comes out, says standard install if they run the wires around the outside of the house was 40 per line and a dollar a minute if he has to go into the attic. And if I wanted it done professionally, and out on the inside walls (which the cable is already in the attic and their should be no issue), then I would need to schedule another appointment with them for him to come back because he did not plan on the full install? What a load of crap. Then when I told him that is not what I signed up for and that customer service will tell you anything and quote you anything but it's not his problem. I have a copy of the request so I know that it was him being shady. I would be very careful and not get scammed.
