First time visiting this Dishoom location and the consistency across the brand is why you'll always find a queue waiting for a table. We came for a late lunch/early dinner and the wait was quoted around 30 minutes or so. For smaller tables there were offers to sit outside, but it was a particularly sunny and warm day so we waited for an indoor table. Inside is also where the ambiance is at its peak. While waiting drinks were brought out to the line. We ordered an assortment of food, our appetizers were brought to another table on accident but our server made it her mission to track them down to ensure they got to us. Next time I'll skip the samosas, but chili chicken will always be on the list and the garlic naan! Hurry up US Dishoom!!
You have to visit this place when you go to London! The food is delicious, price is very reasonable, ambience is so pretty! They even provide drinks and snacks while you wait. Reserve a table way ahead of time. Server was very knowledgeable! The okra appetizer was delicious! Kheema samosa was good! Rumali roti was fresh! Chicke curry and pav paji are also a must try!
One of my favorite dining experiences in London because of the association with restaurants in Bombay, where I grew up. Visited with extended family and we had a lovely time trying various drinks - both alcoholic (like Colaba Colada) and non-alcoholic (like Kala Khatta Sharbat), plus an assortment of snacks and entrées I grew up on - like pav bhaji and murgh malai. Prices were reasonable and service was decent. Seating was a bit tight and it was a tad too loud for my taste. Bathrooms were clean. Happy to try other Dishoom locations in the future.
Amazing food! This was our best meal in London. Be sure to ask for tap water instead of still or sparkling. Our favorite dish was the chili chicken. Also tried their version of butter chicken, the lamb chops, some eggplant chutney, the garlic naan, and the black Dahl. Some of the food was a bit spicy so we asked for yogurt and it came with some cucumbers and spices in it which was really refreshing. Can't wait for this restaurant to open in the US!
Dishoom came highly recommended by other travels and friends as a must try Indian restaurant while visiting the UK. There are multiple locations, but this one by the Coal Drops Yard was the closest one to where we were staying. We made reservations in advanced and dodged the long wait. The folks who came right before us without reservations were told they had to wait 60-75 minutes. There are some nights where walk-ins are even turned away because they're so busy. The interior was very dimlit and intimate. Every table was full the whole time we were there. We were table to the bottom level. Service was really slow. Not because staff was inefficient but it seems like each wait staff had to manage many tables. Everything was slow from getting the menu, to waiting to order, to getting the food, and waiving down for the bill. My boyfriend and I shared the Dishoom Chicken Tikka (£14.70), House Black Daal (£11.50), Grilled Greens (£7.50), and a Garlic Naan (£5.40). It's important to note that this chicken tikka is a dry rub version and not the curry masala version you typically think of. The chicken was moist and well flavored but in some spots there was more seasoning than others so it seems inconsistent. The house black daal that came highly recommended is a slow cooked lentils cooked for over 24 hours, which makes it too mushy for my liking from a textural perspective. It was also really spicy. The grilled greens during our visit was split peas and broccolini. They were simple but a nice relief to the rest of the meal. Their version of the garlic naan was soft and bready, not flakey compared to some other versions I had. It could have used more garlic for my liking. My boyfriend really enjoyed this meal and considered potentially the best Indian restaurant he has experienced. I live in an area with a large Indian population and I have been to many Indian restaurants so I can't say I was as impressed. Also the long wait between things was a turn off. If you decide to come, bring your patience.
Dinner: DISHOOM CHICKEN TIKKA, MASALA PRAWNS (Spicy a little) with roti. It was soooooo good. The flavors were incredible! Cooked and seasoned to perfection. Breakfast: chocolate chai and Chai immaculate. Mango lassi yummy! Big Bombay the eggs were so good with the beans and bread! The specialty naans were good! The naan was my favorite! Can't wait to go back when I'm back in London! Everything was so good. We went to dinner; there was a little bit of a hold up in the kitchen but they handled us very well kept us updated if they were still going to serve food. Place was nice, clean and well operated! We waited and when they gave us our food it was 1000% worth the wait. We ordered the naan but couldn't get it but they replaced it with the roti and it was stillll so good.
Everything was amazing and went very well together, no complaints about any food (although not a ton of meat in Ruby chicken) Very flavorful with well balanced spices coming through, meat very tender, loved the mint chutney Chai was just okay, lemonade and cocktail were great though Beautiful interior, fast service, portions somewhat on the smaller size but still filling
This place is an experience! The food will remind you of the taste from India. Their speciality is the bun maska Pao with chai - yummy! The prawns and biryani were superb too! If you are a loyal customer and have a key, on week days, you can roll a die and get the meal for free if you get a six. I thought it was just a fantasy- but we got a six and the entire meal was on the house! Loved the vibe of this place - everyone serving us was super warm and helpful. I love buying extra things from their shop as I leave / to carry a piece of the experience with me. I always visit Dishoom during my trips to London!
On our last night in London, we were lucky to eat here despite not having a reservation. We walked in and waited about an hour for a table for 6 people. The place was really noisy so it was a bit hard for us to hear but they did their best to seat us in a less noisy place. There was some confusion on number of people as we had updated it to 6 from 5 but they first gave us a table for 5 instead of 6. Because it was loud we had some communication issues with our waiter re: a couple of orders, but he quickly and calmly fixed it. He was even so nice as to mark up a menu to make sure I would avoid ordering anything with bell peppers, since I don't eat them. Everyone was just so pleasant and attentive and catered to our situation with our 80 year old aunts and preferences. The cocktails were well done and my favorite food items were the black house daal and the lamb chop! I wish they had one of these restaurants in Austin, TX. So yummy!
Dishoom lives up to the hype--an absolute must-visit! Ambiance & Service: The King's Cross location is spacious with a stylish modern-industrial vibe. Service was friendly and efficient. Food & Drink: - Chocolate Chai & Chai: Both are excellent--chocolate chai is a must if you love hot cocoa vibes. - Okra Fries: Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. - Vada Pau: Soft roll with a spicy fried potato ball--delicious but packs heat! - Mattar Paneer & Cheese Naan: Rich, flavorful curry with super soft paneer; the cheesy naan was the perfect pairing. TL;DR: Flavorful food, stylish space, and standout chai--Dishoom definitely earns the hype!
Second time here - pretty much a must-go every time I'm in London. As soon as you walk in, you walk into a warm haze of incense smell. There's a very rich smell of cardamom, cinnamon, chai, and various other spices. We ended up ordering: Dishoom House Chaat ($10) Side Chili Broccoli Salad ($8) Nali Nihari Biryani ($26) House Black Daal ($10) Naan Food was amazing - slow cooked lamb shank into a biryani was the highlight. Gravy was addicting and wanted to spread it onto everything. House Chaat was also very refreshing, good balance of citrus, sweet, minty, and savory. This was The server was very kind to recommend a drink, given it was a very hot day. We got the Blushing Colada - would recommend. Super refreshing for a hot day. Dishoom never disappoints!
How does London have better Indian food that India itself?? We stopped by the King's Cross location and we were glad that they were serving up lemonade to the folks who were waiting in the long line to get in. Once inside, we got the chai, the Kati roll, the ruby chicken with garlic naan, and the lamb samosas. Everything was excellent and up to the high bar that Dishoom sets for itself. Can't wait for them to come to America!

We saw a bustling crowd here on Friday evening where the wait time was approximately 2 hours. Given the enthusiastic crowd, I knew that I must eat here! I made a reservation online for Sunday at 5pm. Tip - they don't take reservations for parties less than 6 after 5:45 PM! Sunday came and my gosh, this was some of the best Indian food I've eaten around the world! I've been to India and this food was amazing. Get the vegetable samosas, okra fries, naan and the chicken tikka were great. Looking forward to the next visit to London! read more

Went to dishoom at kings cross and it was lovely for my overall experience. The service was okay, the ambience is alright its quite dim making it quite fine dining ambience. It was quite loud though so if you are looking for a place to eat peacefully maybe not here. Some waiters or waitresses are not wearing masks so dont be caught off guard if they are exempted. Nevertheless, all the food are very good. Tried the okra fries and reminded me of an indonesian dish. The chili chicken tastes like sweet and sour chicken very western and it was okay. The lamb signature dish is okay too. The naan bread is way better than the roti since the roti is kinda dry so you should get the naan bread more. The jackfruit biryani was awesome. Nevertheless, the star dish of the day was the black daal since it was the best reminded me of authentic indian food. Make sure to order rice or bread for the daal and it would just melt in your mouth. Wanna add the dessert as well. I tried chocolate pudding with chilli ice cream. The taste is very interesting it was just sublime. The first spoon wasnt that nice but you have to keep eating to taste it better. The chocolate got salty and bitter taste while the ice cream gave spicy and sweet taste. Interestingly, they mixed perfectly somehow. I gotta give props to the chef. I dont usually love mix taste for dessert because a lot of chefs tried so hard and they dont mix well.Trust me bro. Overall, it was a lovely experience and the hype is not fake and it is worth for the price. I would recommend people to come here and keep coming back for its great indian food. Cheers! I visited this restaurant twice in summer 2016 and 2017 with friends. In both occasions we had to queue for around an hour till seated. However the staff didn't spare any effort in making us comfortable while we waited. They offered us traditional Indian tea drinks all the time till we were directed to our table. I find myself obligated to mention the kindness of the staff and there willingness to help. The smile didn't depart their faces. There are two bars offering wide range of alcoholic drinks. Kingfisher beer is a very popular choice here. My friends liked the wine. The food is good but not excellent as some reviewers commented. I find it lacking a pinch of salt to kick out all those spices. I recommend this restaurants for groups of adults and those who want to enjoy a different atmosphere in London. read more

Service was slow, but I think that's how service generally is in Europe. I came on a Tuesday night with 6 friends, some which was their first time having Indian food. We all left content and with full bellies. I got the lamb on the bone stew with onion naan and puri with chickpeas to share with my mate. I was pleasantly surprised how yummy and fresh everything was. We ordered a side of the yogurt sauce and it really tied everything together. The chickpeas tasted slow cooked in a heavenly and spicy sauce that hit the spot on the cold rainy night I went. My mate thought the chickpeas were a bit too spicy but I drooled over how yummy they were. The puri were really crispy and complemented the chickpeas perfectly. The lamb stew was literally fall off the bone good and it was a hearty serving for the two of us! The waiter we had was really friendly and turned out he was actually from the same state my friends and I came from in the USA (what a small world!). So glad my mate made a reservation because we were seated promptly and by the time we left, the line was out the door was snaking around the corner! One thing I do need to mention was that our water glasses were not filled promptly and we did have to ask several times for more water and with spicy food, I do tend to drink a not. Overall it was a good establishment and I could certainly see why it was rated the number 1 Indian food restaurant in London! read more

Best Indian food I've ever had. They had an entire vegan menu - I got the gunpowder potatoes, vegetable samosas, Chana Chaat Salad (a chickpea and avocado salad with pomegranate seeds), and Chole Puri (a flavorful vegan chickpea curry with amazing sides). The curry was hands down my favorite - the yellow side dish it came with was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Shared all these dishes with 1 other person and we were stuffed and had leftovers. The atmosphere was really nice and cozy. Service could have been more friendly, but our waiter was patient with us paying separately. Definitely make a reservation if you can!! Ate there last night and I already made another reservation for a month from now :) read more

I dare you to walk by a Dishoom and not go in after you've eaten here once. Go on, give it a try; I'll wait. This place is beyond wonderful. I can't think of a single thing wrong with Dishoom. The service is grand, this particular location is stunning, and the flavors are everything that I crave. Be warned: the queue can be quite long. Two times I was in, we came right before the rush but alas, the third time, the line seemed to go on forever and didn't make it in. (They serve drinks outside for you, as a little teaser to the excellence inside.) During dinner, we sat at the bar on the main level and felt right where I needed to be. This place is beautiful and though I haven't been to Mumbai, I'd like to think that this is how it must look. Sigh. I started with their take on an Old Fashioned. Don't know why I'm drinking these, they're a little sweet for my taste, but the presentation here is sure delightful: served in a small apothecary-like bottle with the ice on the side, it wasn't very strong but that was fine by me. The dinner menu looked incredible but we didn't want to overdo it. We had the Murgh Malai, chicken marinated overnight in garlic and other tastiness. Yum! The roti is thin and made a great spoon to sup the House Black Daal (black lentils) and wooosh it was delicious! To keep things light, we also had the Paneer and Mango salad. The crispy shallot crumbs elevated the salad. Breakfast at Dishoom. Oh dear. I didn't want to leave. This time we sat on the top floor. It was early so it was slower than usual. My guy ordered the chai while I opted for the fresh-squeezed Pineapple, lime, and black pepper juice. It was so very good and not as acidic as it sounds. We also enjoyed the Bun Maska, which was like a toasted sweet roll with a thick layer of BUTTER inside. Its sole purpose in life is to be dunked into the side of Chai tea that came with it. Ooooooh The Bombay Omelet was beautiful, but was a little underwhelmed by the flavor. I ended up using the ketchup served on the side. So while you can pass on the omelet, do not miss the Kejriwal. Two fried eggs on chili cheese toast. Eggs in London are gorgeous, bright orange, and everywhere I eat, they're cooked to flowing yolk perfection. Theirs is no exception. For this dish, I laughed the ketchup right off the plate. Ugh. I want to go back. We don't have anything remotely like this at home. For a great atmosphere, service, food, and overall vibe, make Dishoom your next stop. read more
I've been to Indian restaurants all over the world, but this was one of the best! I don't even know what else to say. Phenomenal service, great food and great drinks. Try and make reservations as it gets packed. Go go go! Also please build a location in the states, preferably in the NY area. I can't wait to return to this place. Dishooooom!!!!!! If you've ever passed by one, you've probably noticed this is the place to go in London. While the wait does take up a bit of time (and reservations aren't accepted) the staff are available with complimentary glasses of the house chai to sip on while you wait until you get to the bar. Everything we had was delicious. The star for me was definitely the black daal. Everyone who works there is also extremely friendly! While this may not be the most authentic Indian food, I can definitely appreciate the cuisine they are producing at a very reasonable price. It lives up to the hype! read more

I was born and grew up in Mumbai, and street food and Iranian cafes are embedded in my psyche. Dishoom in some ways has captured the essence, flavors in a wonderful way. Nothing beats the original but Dishoom does not disappoint. The whole experience is full of character and excellence. I like all their food. Be careful not to overeat...it is easy to want to order all of it. Pa e you self. Try their cocktails. All good! read more

There's a reason why everybody raves about this place. People from across the pond even know about the wonder that is Dishoom. We came late on a Sunday night thinking we would get seated fairly quickly. There was still a line of people when we got there, which at first seemed daunting but then was rather enjoyable due to the free sherry and chai lattes that were being passed around (more restaurants should do this in my opinion). The wait didn't feel too long and we were finally seated. We ordered a bunch of things off the menu and every one of those dishes and drinks did not disappoint! I will definitely be back again the next time I'm in London! read more

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Dishoom. The King's Cross location is fairly close to my flat so I pop by quite a bit. While their lunch menu is fantastic, what I really adore is their brunch. I'm highly obsessed with the keema per eedu and their bacon and egg naan rolls. Their chai is also reminiscent of what I drank loads of in India. Definitely go at off peak hours if you don't want to queue though as lines are fairly normal there. read more

This is probably one of the best Indian restaurants that I have ever been to. It is obvious Dishoom makes everything fresh and they make a conscious effort to make every dish different from typical Indian restaurants. Some of the most memorable dishes were the mahi tikka, spicy lamb chops and gunpowder potatoes. We felt the grills were a bit better than the mains. We also tried their breakfast which was decent. The house chai is amazing and the best I have ever had. read more

I LOVE DISHOOM. It offers a chic and effortlessly classy experience of Indian food. The staff are friendly and helpful. The menu is full of surprises. We brought our whole team from work here for a celebratory breakfast. A lot of the team had an Indian take on a bacon butty using nan breads and mango chutney. I went for a breakfast curry. I loved the restaurant's commitment to helping the vulnerable as each meal you eat there helps a vulnerable child in the UK to receive a nutritious lunch or breakfast. If this restaurant was a film it would be: Slum Dog Millionaire as it's Indian culture as you have never seen it before. read more

We saved our last night in London for this place and boy, what a treat. Our food was really good and tasty. Not many places here in the US offer vegan lassis, but this place sure does. Plenty of vegan options, including the breakfast menu. Definitely a must try and keep in mind that yes it is busy so be ready to wait in line for a few mins. It's still worth the wait! read more
Absolutely amazing!! The service was impeccable and quick. Nut allergy friendly with an allergy menu to offer earned brownie points! Everything from the cheese naan to the spicy lamb was mouthwatering to say the least. I would eat here everyday if I could. Dishoom is a must have every time I go to London, and I could not recommend it enough. My all time favorite food (in the entire world), is Dishoom's Matter Panner. Along side this delicious dish I have the vegetable samosas, cheese naan, and a fruity moscato. Dishoom is a great choice for vegetarians, the staff is always happy to help, the soft lighting mixed with the spiced scents make for the perfect dinning mood, and your stomach will thank you for eating here. The line is pretty long but you get served drinks like sherry and chai tea while you wait, and often get to spend some of the wait at the bar. read more
Had a good breakfast here to start our touristy day. The service was terrific and the food was really good. The waitress was able to give us some good recommendations since it was our first time at a Dishoom. However, to be honest, I was just slightly disappointed. Mostly because I had heard rave reviews about this place so my expectations were super high. While the food was really good, it didn't blow me away. read more

Everything here is delicious, so delicious in fact that we ate at Dishoom (King's Cross and Covent Garden) twice on our trip. Our favorites were the chicken tikka, house black daal, and the paneer roll. Delicious chutney as well! I've never had Indian food like this in the states...highly recommended! read more

A delight to the eyes, stomach but not the wallet. What an amazing looking place! Sure we had to queue for an hour to get in but they served us mint tea and sherry while we waited out in the cold October air. I just couldn't get myself to hate such a nice deed.. after all it was our decision to stay! Getting in we were told that we had to wait a bit longer until the electronic buzzer on the caller went off and someone came and collected us. So we waited and helped ourselves to the exotically named cocktails. Mine was a "Bombay" Colada.. whis is an Indian spiced pina Colada. I did ask for a Mai tai first but learned that the whole idea of Dhishooms was about Bombay and the food and drinks from there. When we were taken to the seats we were told that its best to order food to share so we did: Lamb chops: these were exquisitely grilled with a coating of spice but the gamey taste of the lamb was somewhat retained. I am not a big fan of the lamb being gamey but this was acceptable. The pieces were thicker than I expected and biting into it I tasted the fat which was delicious. I was thinking initially that I have tasted better but in reality I had tasted different as this was unique and as equally as good as I have tasted on commercial road. Black Dhal: wow! Tasted amazing and a great accompaniment to my butter narn. The Dhal reminded me of a black bean but the sauce was thick and rich like a vindaloo without the heat. Paneer: sadly disappointing as I felt it was under done but maybe it's the way they do it in Bombay. Chicken: sadly it was so average I forget what it exactly was called. Vegetables: again some spiced boiled vegetables. Nothing to shout about. The place by the way is huge and is styled like an indian resthouse with everything relating to a Mumbai from the 1950s. A sheer joy to be in and with lots of atmosphere. My only question is if they have a Hindi menu which might be more special. read more

A look at the queue in front of Dishoom just gives you an idea of the buzz that surrounds this indian concept...it's crazy, and so was my excitement yesterday night for my first try. This type of buzz is certainly something I've never seen where I'm from (Bruxelles). Food is definitely 5-stars-worthy: I've rarely eaten such tender and tasteful pieces of chicken (Murgh Malai), their Dal is a classic, and I totally got why, same story goes for their special : a lamb stew slowly cooked for months, well maybe not but surely tasted like it. So YES, Food = delicious. But... What I'm not sure is if this very good indian food is worth the 1h30min wait (30min outside, 1 hour in their Permit Room). To be honest, I've heard such good things about London Indian's restaurants even before Dishoom existed...in a few words, I'm pretty sure I can find about the same quality in a more well, "normal" indian place I guess...not sure if their strategy will pay off in the long run. Anyway, the place looks like a Museum, team is lovely, and they even offer chai tea while you're waiting in the cold. Nice right ? PS : Trying their breakfast/brunch might be the best tip if you'd kill to go there, without the waiting the waiting part. read more

I had the "Kejrwall" (fried eggs on cheese bread) and the Bacon Naan Roll. Both very well done and tasty. Prices are reasonable and staff is friendly. Definitely a good place where to have a (heavy) breakfast. read more
