Wow!! This was my first half marathon, for the Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon, and I had such an amazing time. I registered for the race around the end of February. I had originally wanted to register for the 5k, but it sold out! Instead, the only option that was available still was the Disneyland Halloween half marathon! I ended up booking it, and figured that I had about 6 months to train for the half marathon! There is a great training plan offered by Jeff Galloway for 5k, 10k, half marathon and even a marathon! You'll need to provide a proof of time if you're looking for a better corral placement. I ended up getting placed in corral F, which luckily, helped me to complete the Halloween half marathon! You'll need to have a 16-minute per mile pace. There are pacing-people and in the last corral, there are balloon pacing members to help you keep the 16-minute per mile pace. Since Disney has to open the parks and open the roads for Anaheim traffic, you may get picked up if you're not maintaining the 16-minute per mile pace. Picking up the race-bib was held at the Disneyland Convention Center, right next to Disneyland's Hotel. It was on the second level. There is also a Disney Health and Fitness Expo that was on-going during the Halloween Half Marathon. I ended up picking up some merchandise I had pre-ordered online through the Rundisney website. The first part of the half marathon, up to mile 6, is within Downtown Disney, California Adventure, and Disneyland. You'll first start out towards the Anaheim convention center, and loop around into Disney California Adventure for the first 3 miles. From there, you'll run the next 3 miles into Disneyland and end up backstage at the Star Wars themed area. The rest of the 7 miles were through the local streets of Anaheim, the Honda Civic Center, and then running through the Anaheim Angels stadium, which was amazing! I wanted to make sure that I completed the race, so I didn't stop for any pictures! There were a lot of photo opportunities along the Halloween Half Marathon. I didn't want to risk it though, especially with how long the lines were to wait for photo opportunities with Jack Skellington, Mickey Mouse! There were a variety of photographers along the route within the theme parks. I was able to spot them and get some good pictures! If you're looking for some great race photos, if you can spot them before, you can smile or jump in the air, and hopefully you'll get a cool picture! It was a really hot race outside in Anaheim on the week of the 6th, September 2024 for the Halloween Half Marathon. Some of the days reached up to 105-109. On the Sunday, for the Half Marathon, Disney added extra water stations at each mile and provided extra food along the course, which was wonderful! It was important to stay hydrated. By the time I was done with the race around 9:00 A.M, with a start time around 5:30 for corral F, it was around 85F out! The race started at 72F at 5:00 A.M. It was so much fun that I ended up registering for the next Disneyland race in January 2025! The cast members, volunteers, and the local Anaheim community members are amazing! There were so many people cheering the runners on the course! It was such an awesome event!

Ran the 2025 Disneyland Half Marathon and it was awesome! It has been a bucket list race for years and glad they finally brought it back to California. The first 4-5 miles were the best part as the course goes through Disneyland and DCA. The race started at 0500 so all the lights were on, characters were out waving to the runners and for the first time I got to experience the park with no crowds (ran with Corral A). The only downside was not being able to go on any rides or have access to the park after crossing the finish line, but it was lit! It was a good day to PR, which I was happy to do with a 1:47:44 official time! The energy was high and positive vibes were everywhere. Great experience and would definitely recommend running a Disney race at least once in your life, no matter what distance. "Every mile is magic."

The much anticipated return to Anaheim.... It was so good to be back with RunDisney here in Anaheim! I always said I wanted to do the Coast to Coast but in reality Disneyland is my home. We have to be crazy to be excited to run right (well we're only half crazy or if you ran the DDD 19.3 crazy actually. We usually stay on Resort property and roll out of bed to head to the start line but this race was different. The start line was closer to the Anaheim Gardenwalk. The walk there did not seem too bad and when we arrived walking through the security checkpoints to get to the start line wasn't too bad. However, the security lines coming back through Downtown Disney was crazy. Not only did you have the runners and their families going through to get back to the hotels or the parking structures but we were also grouped in with everyone heading into the parks for the day. There seemed to be a little less entertainment than usual and since there was an event at Angels Stadium we missed running over home plate but all in all it was great to be back. It was fairly cold and I was a bit off my game so these races were a little harder for me but the volunteers, staff, and wonderful people greeting and cheering us throughout the course got me through it (plus my family coming to check in on me along the course). I have ran a few other races but none of them can compare to the RunDisney races. There is something to be said about running through the parks and seeing everything along the course. Just happy to be back (even if it means getting up at 3AM to get ready and get into our corrals) ;)

Disney half marathon is such a great event. Great for all ages. Well organized event the staff were friendly and helpful. Even though I didn't get to run with my wife she had an amazing time. She got to see a bunch of Disney characters there were entertainment everywhere on the running course, and there were a lot of water station and a great amount of people cheering and supporting the runners. Now I can't wait for our Disney Star Wars 10k run in January...

I LOVE Disney and I also love this course! It is well stocked at every water stop with hydration for participants. It has amazing race support with volunteers and spectators that come out in droves to offer a friendly face while you pound out the miles. Of course running through the parks and by all the characters is pretty amazing as well and only helps make this one of the best courses for a PR. My personal highlights are running through the castle, racing around the bases of Angels stadium, and all of the spectators who come to support the runners. This race has progressively gotten more and more crowded over the years. While I love it, it pulls racers of all types and shapes. This is a good thing though because it is inspiring people who may not normally do a half marathon to get on their feet and make it happen. The downfall to this is the race etiquette does not always exist. There are seasoned and a lot of rookie runners on this course. After the first couple miles it is easy to maneuver around people, but in the parks there are narrow passages that make passing a challenge if speed is your game on course. It really is a good course to relax and enjoy the sites, because when you are in the parks or at the stadium it is pretty magical. I personally don't stop for photos with characters, but a lot of people do. I prefer to mentally snap shots during course because I hate to stop and restart again. The race expo was my gripe this year. It was WAY too crowded and made me nervous that race day was going to reflective of this, but it wasn't. FYI, don't do the expo first thing Friday morning. It will not benefit anyone. There was a HORRIBLE line just to get into the expo to pick up packets and to get into the expo to purchase goodies for hours. No bueno. Wait until after 2 pm and try to hit it. I have never had a problem when going later. The only downfall when going later is merchants sell out, but I am not usually a big shopper at expos, so it is not a problem for me. (Remember, nothing new on race day) My two cents; great course, fun times with buddies, buy a pass to go into the parks at least one day, and enjoy the experience.

What an amazing experience! 13.1 miles later and another bucket list item checked off, I highly recommend anyone interesting in running a half marathon to make Disneyland's Half Marathon as your first choice above any other options around Los Angeles. You run through both Disneyland and California Adventures. Throughout the park, you see familiar characters and even have opportunities to take photos with them. When you're out on the streets, high school cheerleaders, dance drill, band, and orchestra cheer you on to victory! There were so much to see and experience, you almost don't want to stop running just to see what's next. There are water and portable restroom stations throughout the route. Other than having to wake up at 3am to get to the park, I enjoyed every moment of it! Make sure you train ahead of time so you don't jack up your knees like I did.

I just recently completed the 10th Anniversary of the Disneyland Half Marathon and I loved it even though I personally did not have a particularly good race. I'm one of the legacy runners that have run all of them starting with the inaugural race in 2006 and I must say that you pretty much have to be a big Disney fan to appreciate what this race has to offer. If you aren't a Disney fan, I would suggest that you look elsewhere because this race will probably not be your cup of tea. Here's what you can expect from this race. It is pricey! As of 2015, the registration fee was $199 for the half marathon. The weather will most likely be hot and humid. Train for the weather or you will not have a swell time! You will get to run through both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks. You will then run through the streets of Anaheim to the Honda Center. The highlight for most people is being able to run on the warning track inside Angel Stadium. One year we did not because there was a game later that day. There's plenty of course support especially from many squads of cheerleaders and owners of vintage cars that line a good portion of the course. Overall: Even with the hefty price tag, I plan to run this race every year until I can't run no more! For me, it truly is the Happiest Race on Earth. Just keep in mind that the Disney magic that most of us love doesn't come cheap! :)

(Half #22, 2015) Being that it was both Disneyland's 60th anniversary and the Disneyland Half Marathon's 10th anniversary, thousands upon thousands of diamond-shaped, Mickey-themed half marathon medals--in hot demand!--were poised at the finish line. And one of them had my name on it. Even though I was a Cast Member for many years, I've still returned to the Parks, if not simply because I'm an Annual Pass Holder (by the way, being a pass holder allows for early registration for Disney's sold out runs), even more so because I love running through and around the Parks. It's fun. And for me, it brings back lots of great memories. Some of Disney's most infamous villains were out in force this year, skulking about the three courses, and that was cool! Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook & Mr. Smee, Dr. Facilier, Hades, Ratcliffe, Shan Yu, Evil Queen, Foulfellow & Gideon, Brer Fox & Brer Bear, Lady Tremaine, Drizella & Anastasia, Jafar, and Queen of Hearts: they were all there, and many runners, as they usually do, stopped for a breather, stood in line, and snapped a few quick shots. I mean, really, when's the last time you were able to get photos with Hades?! This year, as well as running the 10K and the Half for the Dumbo Double Dare, I also ran the 5k. The medal is made of rubber, not as eye-catching as the others, but the Fab Five were on it, and that's cool. I'll run it again, for sure. And as far as Dumbo's Double Dare, I believe this will become a tradition.

2017 Disneyland Half Marathon!!! It was hot like a motha this weekend!!! I still wish there was an easier way to get your bib. You have to drive to Disneyland to pick it up and there is no where to park to just pick it up. Expect to pay for parking just to get your bib!!! Loved the route, we got to run through Angels Stadium. Ton of water stations. 1 snack station. It was energy jelly beans. Pixar themed, I loved all the awesome outfits. Up characters were my favorite. The medal was so so for this event. Finally finished all 4 themes!

Just a sample of the characters out that you can take pictures with

Now that I am able to walk again, I can write an honest review. I'm not a runner by any means, and this was my first half marathon. :) They say that it's not about the destination, but about the journey - pishaw, I wanted that medal at the finish line! I thoroughly enjoyed and ached and agonized along all 13.1 miles of this course, but it was so worth it. Highly recommended to any first timers as there are plenty of other first timers too! :D And it's so fun to dress up in a costume! Yes there are characters throughout Disneyland and California Adventure parks and yes you can get in line to see them/take a picture with them, but you really gotta make up your time for the time lost while waiting in line later.. think oft he park portion as a slow-time out part, and you really start again when you get on Ball. The longest part to me was going from just leaving Disneyland all the way to Honda Center... and the last mile! WTF (where's the finish) kept going through my mind but I just "kept on running" or swimming, as Dory would say, in my head, one step in front of the other! I'm psyched for the next one, I think I'm a little addicted to these events now. :D

    Well-deserved medal :)

For those who ran the Disneyland half marathon, what was the temperature like? I've read from several people's reviews that it was in the 90's.

Unfortunately I have not ran the Disneyland half marathon yet. Good question!

Walking it is fine as the participants range from serious to walkers. This year, instead of finishing around the warning track in the outfield, we ran right by the dugouts so it was great. All the volunteers were friendly and it was nice going into the entrance of Angels stadium to use the restrooms and check out the team store before and after the run. The tech shirts were nice this year. We'll be back!

"The Happiest Race on Earth"…read more Years ago, I had friends that would drive all the way to Disneyland to do the Tinker Bell runs every single year. They would tell me how they would get dressed up and run through the park. I would look at their photos and it looked fun. But back then, running wasn't as big of a deal to me. Disney held their first marathon at Walt Disney World in 1994. Disneyland started theirs the following year. Over the years, runDisney became a half marathon and added 5K and 10K runs. Each half marathon weekend has a different theme to it. These races allow you to run through the theme parks with live entertainment and Disney characters sightings along the way. The runs include a finisher's medal, all sorts of swag and timed results. As I was doing some reading up on these races, I started to realize how big of deal and popular they are. Majority of the runDisney races take place at Disney World in Florida. Disneyland had canceled their runs in 2018 when they were building Star Wars Galaxy's Edge and also because of the pandemic. In 2024, they decided to bring back their half marathon weekend after a seven year hiatus. These days I am big into running and do about ten competitive races a year. I also come from a family of Disney fanatics. I mentioned to my sister that the half marathon weekends were coming back to Disneyland and that we should try and do one of them. Registering was a chore for us as you have to sit on the computer for hours in a queue to see if you were one of the lucky ones to get in. They aren't cheap either! On race weekend, you have to attend the Disney Expo the day before to pick up your bib and shirt. They have an official merchandise area that you can pick up addition stuff for the run. I signed up for the 5K run and was a little disappointed to find out that it is considered a "fun run" and not timed. After dropping a couple hundred dollars on additional merchandise, we crashed early to get ready for the run. Race time is early (5am) because they have to clear everything out before the park opens. Despite being how early and cold it was, I had a fun time. For the 5K, majority of the runners were more about taking photos with characters than actually running. I am pretty competitive and ran almost the whole time despite all the walkers that I had to dodge. I did enjoy seeing all the costumes that people were wearing. We started off in front of the Sleeping Beaty castle in Disneyland and ended up in California Adventure to finish the run. The medals that they give you are pretty cool and you are given snacks and drinks after the run. If I do one of these again, I will probably do one of the longer runs that are timed. But overall, I enjoyed being able to partake in Disneyland's first runDisney event in years.

We ran inside Disneyland and California Adventure and lots of characters and employees were out to cheer on the runners. There was a lot of entertainment outside of the parks as well. Loved all the local high school bands and students cheering us on as well. Lots of port-a-potties and only once did I see a long line. Unfortunately this was my first and maybe my last Disney race. Only because the fees are so expensive!

How awesome to have been a part of this inaugural event celebrating such an epic franchise. It's really expensive but it sure was a lot of fun. Initially I was planning to take the Rebel Challenge (10k+half marathon) up until I saw it was $330 (without processing fees). I was in shock that this challenge was an extra $21 if you take the price of the 10k plus half marathon. I guess that's the price to pay for an extra shirt and medal. By the time I thought "eff it, it's only one time", the challenge had sold out so I just signed up for the half. At the expo, the bib pickup is underground then you walk back up to ground level to get your shirt and then on to the vendors. I parked at the hotel parking and they give you 30 minutes free but they aren't strict about it. Come race day, there were many runners with cool and creative costumes. Inside the park, the photo op line for Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker was efficient but they didn't use the same process for Chewbacca. I was bummed that I didn't get to take a photo with him because the 16-minute pacer was already passing. (If you fall behind her, you may get picked up.) Had to do my research on who this group of people were outside of the Disney grounds, 501st Legion, in full costume, ready for photo ops. I was so happy to see them, my spirits were lifted and made up for the missed photo ops with the characters in the park. Their costumes were amazing! For those driving in on race day, you're subjected to the $17 parking fee at the Mickey & Friends structure. If you so happen to be interested in any of the Disney runs, you must know that they tend to sell out on the first day of registration. I am a sucker and will be running the half a second time hoping that the 501st Legion will be there again.

This is my second year participating in the Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend. Last Year,…read moreI did the half marathon, this year, I did the 5k! Disneyland's Halloween Half Marathon was from September 4-7 at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim California. This is the second year for the Halloween themed runDisney event. Next year though, the runDisney event will not occur due to the planned construction at Disneyland Resort There are a few different events that are hosted. 5K - (Friday) - Theme was Ursula the Sea Witch 10K - (Saturday) - Theme was Cruella de Vil Half Marathon - (Sunday) - Theme was Maleficient If you complete both the 10K and the Half Marathon, you received the special Pain & Panic Challenge medal! There is also the kids races and the yoga session! Each distance does receive it's own themed medal! Bib pick-up was at the Health and Fitness Expo at the Disneyland Hotel. You could pick up the bib, pre purchased merchandise, and shop at the expo hall between September 4-6. I ended up buying [2] pairs of Disneyland Halloween themed brook shoes and several Halloween runDisney shirts/pins! Logistics: On the race day for the 5k, I arrived around 4:15 at the Mickey & Friends parking structure. From there, I went through the security check. The 5k started inside Disneyland. There are a variety of different corals for the races. I started in the last corral, but luckily, I was able to get two different character pictures in the race! The weather was perfect too! It was around 65 for race morning. The race started at 5:00 A.M, but by the time I started at my corral, I didn't pass the start line until 5:25 A.M. The 5k went through both Disneyland and California Adventure theme park. The race ended towards Goofy's Fly school in DCA. The race was amazing. It was all decorated for Halloween. Before you started the race, there was a pre-show, lights, and some fireworks! It was such a amazing time!

This year the course, instead of at Rancho Alamitos, was at Bolsa Grande, another one of our district's amazing high schools. The proceeds benefit Rancho's Track & Field team, and I am in complete support of that. In fact, it was not only nice to see some of my former students running, but many of them were volunteering as well, encouraging runners along the route and handing out medals at the finish. In either case, their being involved (and getting up extra early on a Saturday) was much appreciated and worthy of applause. Whether running or walking--students, family members, and teachers alike--came out pumped up and ready to run. An event that promises continued growth and popularity, the Rancho 5K is one race that I am always happy to attend. Go Vaqueros!

I have mixed feelings about this race. I mean, I felt they cut back this year because:…read more1) You don't really see any characters along the race 2) Fees for the race are high as usual 3) Goody box and goodie bag is nothing beyond ordinary. That said, it's still Disney and they do a good job controlling the crowds. The medal for the 10K and the Half and of course the Pixie challenge is pretty awesome, just not $300+ awesome. You get a two tech tees and a bright yellow shirt if you do all three. The route is okay, you get about little over 2 miles of Disney and enough of the outside area. As for volunteers this year, Disney hired people from temp agencies because volunteers were no shows on previous years and spectrum sports (SS) were running the race. So I would focus your attention with SS in terms of race related issues (if you have one) rather than Disney. This race really should be cheaper for So. Cal Residents, just my two cents.

The…read moreRunDisney expo was the usual cluster it usually is, but at least it was open until 8 pm on Thursday and Friday. The 5K was held on Friday morning, the 10K held on Saturday, and the half was on Sunday. The route is different from the Disneyland 10K that I've done before. The photo ops were with all the fairies other than Tinkerbell which was a tad disappointing. I'm not sure if she came out at a different time but I didn't see her. It didn't matter because a lot of the runners dressed up as fairies or other Disney characters. I saw Hook, Peter Pan, Wendy, Aladdin, Belle, and Hades running on the course. The finisher's expo was disappointing in that they only offered Powerade, Dasani water, and bananas. That's it. Usually, there are food boxes stuffed with a Cliff bar, Craisins (another sponsor), crackers, cheese, and other goodies. This time around, nothing but bananas. I'm not sure if the boxes were misplaced, stolen, or what but for as much money as we pay to run these races, the least they could do for us at the end is to give us more food. The finishers' medal was cool though. It has all the fairies from Pixie Hollow on it surrounding the words Tinkerbell 10K along with the date. Now with more RunDisney races being offered throughout the year (Star Wars, Tinkerbell, Disneyland, Avengers) in California, I'll probably run the other ones before considering signing up for this one again.

Lol kids running wildly, I'm thinking their parents dropped them off and left. Also if you should know it was, Shoulder to shoulder rubbing with strangers. Long long long lines around and hour in. Curious if the crowd died down later in the night ? Since it was 4-10pm The free music was fun, and set the mood. I love that healthy junk promotes wellness for all. What a fun market faire type of event! A lot of vendors from previous years and photos were NOT here. Since this was my first year attending I was specifically looking for a few that looks delicious with hopes let down. Supposedly some of them come from Nor Cal and other places. I do really appreciate all of the vendors being pretty friendly, and most of all vegan. Prices were okay, the dip dots soy icecream was very overpriced. Pizza slices were also up the wazoo. Ended up eating inside of healthy junk per usual. Thought they'd have more than brauts outside, was hoping for some creative dishes... Overall; worth it if you're okay with crowds, little seating a lot of standing. Hot sun, but plenty of options to cool down with drinks or indoor places to eat at instead on the downtown area. This was a fun way to try new places though, and just a very cool event !
