I wish that the ending was a little more realistic, why the designers focused on LA so much and not the beauty of Orange County where DL is actually located. A spinning spaceship style ride located at Disneys California Adventures and you can't miss it! The line is short and long at times, didnt need to use lightning pass as the wait was 10 minutes, but that lasted but a minute, as soon as you make line, it got long! Also the parade just ended too so everyone was trying to make line at the rides that were shorter. You make a zigzag line and then walk up to the attraction. I would like to point out that the entrance is wide so many groups were shuffling in and cutting off others, the Disney employee was just standing there and not really directing traffic or even opening up another section to avoid that happening. We had a lot of issues with people being extremely rude. Definitely not for those who get nauseated or dizzy, or if you are afraid of heights. read more

I always have to ride this when I am at DCA. You get to glide above the wonderous parts of our magnificent world! There's small drops and it gets dark and loud. Guests must be at least 40" or taller. Kids, tweens, teens and adults will like this. Disney California Adventure will occasionally make this ride Soarin' Over California which is fun. I have yet to experience this. I hope to one day! I first rode on this when it was called Soarin' Over California when Disney California Adventure Park was more of a California themed park. The ride actually inspired me to get more into national parks because a couple of them were showcased in that particular film. I loved how they would pump in a scent during the Redwood Creek and Valencia Orange Farms scenes. Now the film is called Soarin' Around the World and you soar over different countries. I haven't been on Soarin' in quite some time and saw the updated presentation for the first time not long ago. One of my favorite things about Soarin' is the beginning part while in line that pays homage to aviation history. I have always had a fascination for the history of flight. There is the Wings of Fame and a section dedicated to aviators like Amelia Earhart, Howard Hughes, Charles Lindbergh and the Wright brothers. The ride itself is a mechanical lift system in front of a 80 ft concave 180-degree dome screen. What makes it fun is that your feet dangle as you are watching your presentation so that you feel like you are flying. read more

Soarin' Around the World is one of those rides that I don't have to always go on at Disney's California Adventures (DCA), but if I ever find a lull or find the lines aren't super long and I want a little rest from the heat of Southern California, then I'll find myself here. L O C A T I O N When entering DCA, it's towards the right after you hit the main circle. L I N E S The lines here can get atrociously long so keep an eye out on the line times. It is a large capacity ride, but it takes a while to load and offload folks from the ride. E X P E R I E N C E If you do not like heights or are prone to get motion sickness, you may not want to go on this ride. It doesn't move a lot but it lifts you pretty high up in the air with your legs dangling. Then you basically "fly" through different landmarks all over the world. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty and they put in some scent magic when you go through different areas. I do love the smell of oranges. O V E R A L L It's not a favorite, but it's a good one to go to at least once. I feel like it's a slightly dated and maybe needs a bit of tech improvements. But it's a covered ride with wind coming at you, so it's a good place to cool down if you also want to do a ride. read more

Soarin' is one of the many popular rides here in Disney California Adventures. It's a fun hang glider simulation ride that's a must do every visit. You go to lots of different iconic places throughout the world and hang glide through them for an aerial view. The wait for this ride can get pretty long so if it dips below 30 minutes is when I try to get in the queue. There is a single rider line for this but may not be that fast. Sometimes they'll change it up to Soarin' over California during one of the food festivals. The pre-ride info video is iconic and the ride is very immersive. I always get nervous when riding this in case things fall out of my pockets. I make sure I put things in my bag that I store underneath the seat. read more

Always a fun ride near the front entrance of Disney ca adventure. Once you enter At main gates head straight and right. It'll be on right hand side just after smokejumpers grill. Lines move pretty quickly. Single rider available. Strap in and enjoy the ride. Its movement will make you feel like you're gliding over the various landmarks with scents of each area. If you get motion sickness, ask if you can sit more centered in the middle section of the screen not at the ends as it will have a much different view and may cause nausea, dizziness and imbalance. read more

**November 2025: Sunday Afternoon Visit** The line can get long (90 min plus), this is one of my favorite rides in DCA. On our visit I believe the wait time was 45 minutes which is somewhat reasonable IMHO. If you can enter the cue on the inside go! as it can wind around a couple of times outside. Once inside and ready to board there are three hang glinder type of contraptions to get on each with three rows. You'll get some safety instructions from the captain and soon be prepared to take off! What I love about this attraction is the immersive view and smell of all the destinations. You can smell the salty ocean, floral blooms at the Taj Mahal, and more. This destinations of this attraction changes a few times a year. I think it's either Soarin' Around the World or Soarin' Over California. Next year I believe they're going to launch a Soarin' Over America - and as someone who is trying to complete all 50 states, I think that would be a really cool one to see! read more

If you happen to be afraid of heights this may not be the ride for you as you may be lifted up about three or four stories high depending on which section you get seated in. I do miss Soarin over California. I miss the orange smell. We must move on and grow up to the Soarin over the world. Lines move very quickly. They have a hallway inside where you wait with fun aviation facts and pictures. The video you watch before going in, is always entertaining. You can even catch the destinations that they go to during the show. I rode on the 2nd and 1st rows. I like the 1st row best. You don't have feet dangling in your field of vision. You're also highest. I love the dirt and grass smells. The India scents were so floral and amazing. I love the different taste and feels that throw in there throughout. This ride is such a classic. Not one of those rides if you are afraid of flying/heights, but a super chill ride otherwise. It's slow and shows beautiful scenery, with some perfume scents throughout matching the scenery. I made a joke we were in a perfume store because there are scents of grass, soaps, tropical scents, etc. I do miss the Soarin' over CA version, because it is CA Adventure after all, but this one is cool too. read more

I love this ride. One of the things that make this ride so special is they have Wings of Fame showing all different types of planes and the history. My Dad worked for Lockheed and help built the SR71 and U2 plane to name a few. I lost my Dad last year and this brings another way I can celebrate him! . Plus the flight attendant is named Patrick. My brothers name was Patrick and we lost him in 1998. You see so many great places to add to your bucket list. Give this ride a try because you won't be disappointed. read more

Way back in the day during the first year that Disney California Adventure had opened in 2001, a friend of mine was a Disney Imagineer and accompanied me to both parks Disneyland and DCA. Soarin' Around The World was once upon a time Soarin' Over California. I remembered it to be a magnificent ride, gliding in the air and seeing beautiful scenery of various parts of the state. There were also lovely scents of the redwood trees and orange blossoms. I am told by a friend that this ride comes back temporarily for the Food and Wine Festivals. So fast wayy forward to summer of 2024 and the ride is now Soarin' Around the World. My nephews and I headed to this line first on a Monday early afternoon. The mist outside and the cool AC inside the hangar was nice on a 90 degree day. The line was not too long of a wait. Beneath your seat, there is a pouch to place your stuff if you have a small backpack. It's so chill and serene gliding over beautiful scenery in the various continents. Polar bears! Elephants! The Taj Mahal! Eiffel Tower! Pyramids! South Pacific Islands! (not sure which one it was specifically) Serengeti and the scent of grass! Other yelpers have mentioned seeing dangling feet of the other rows. Assuming we were in the 1st row as we didn't? If I did see them, that would seem kinda odd and probably a star deduction? Overall for me who has not been to Disney in ages, this ride has that Disney magic! read more

Soarin' Around the World is one of my favorite rides in either Disneyland or California Adventure. It's beautiful and relaxing, a welcome experience in the middle of a hectic theme park day. The line can get quite long, and I was happy to skip most of it on my last Disney trip, when we got Lightning Lane Passes for the first time. We booked our arrival window a few hours in advance, and it was great to get into that faster lane. Even there, we faced maybe a 10- or 15-minute wait. My husband stayed outside with our napping toddler while I took our four-year-old, and then rode alone using Rider Switch. The plan had been for our kid Leo B. to ride twice, but I guess the breezy flight was too scary for him. He had a complete meltdown when we suggested he go again. He's four and not the bravest, but I was surprised by this. Soarin' is a really gentle ride, with easy, limited movement. I think it's only height-limited (40" or taller) because of the size of the seats. I told Leo in advance that we'd be sitting and looking at a giant screen, and not actually flying through the sky. He must have stopped believing me when the seats tilted down and the ride got going--I guess that would have been pretty scary. If you understand that you're not in mortal danger, though, Soarin' is truly lovely. I rode Soarin' Over California first, many years ago, and have since been on both versions. I do miss the California scenes, which are set to come back in 2025, but Soarin' Around the World is just as wonderful. Sweeping views of beautiful sights from around the globe, edited into a seamless, immersive ride, enhanced with accompanying scents. We apparently go to Disneyland every year now, and I plan to get Leo back on Soarin' on our next visit. I know he'll love the orange groves if he understands they're not hundreds of feet below us, luring us into a fragrant death. read more

This ride is fun, very much a 4D experience. You strap in and genuinely feel like You are soaring around the world on an adventure. The huge screen, sense of Motion, wind and mist, the smells, quite the immersive experience. Not a ride that I think about going back to but certainly not a ride I would Pass up on doing when there. read more

This was the one ride that my friends insisted that we had to go on during our visit. They told me it was the best thing in the park and showcased the area/state. But, they missed the mark with that last part. It did not detract from how good the ride was. To address the showcasing the area/state part, the last time either of them were on this ride, it showcased California. Everything that California had to offer, what that entails, I'm not sure as I never got to see it. What I got to see was the world. They must of switched it back to this after some time. With the world, you get to zoom around the globe and see the notable places that people say are must sees. From New York to Paris to London, and a few other locations on the way. It didn't take too long for us to get on the ride and once we were buckled in, sandals off, we were up. We started soaring and it was breathtaking. I can see why people love this ride so much and how it must of have been when it was California themed. Maybe it'll switch back to that, but until then, enjoy the world. read more

Such an underrated ride. We were lucky to get a walk-on as we went early in the day and it's just as good as I remember. The smells over the elephants, Taj Mahal and ocean are so nostalgic! Patrick Warburton, who voiced Kronk in the Emperor's New Groove, gives riders their preflight instructions. Fly over an European castle and the castles of Disneyland and Disney World. Soarin' takes guests on a fast pace journey across Earth's seven continents. Making each glider hold three rows of travelers allows more guests to enjoy the ride at a time. Seats are brought close to the screen. While I was hoping I'd get to ride Soaring over California it turned out to be Soaring Around the World instead. This is the exact same ride over in the Land pavillion at EPCOT center. Since I enjoyed it there I knew that I would love it here. Patrick Warburton AKA "Puddy" from the Seinfeld series gives you a briefing before you enter the ride. After taking a numbered place you walk into your assigned row to have a seat and put fasten your seat belt. Small items can be stored in the pocket near the bottom of your seat. A cast member directs you where you can safely put larger items on the floor so that you don't loose them. As soon as the ride starts a roof swings down over the entire unit to give you the sensation of hang gliding. The entire unit is lifted so you can watch an Omni max video featuring not only the 7 wonders of the world but also the great icons, frozen waters with breaching whales, the great pyramids of Egypt, the great wall of China, Sydney harbor, the South Pacific, Disneyland, and a lot more! (Note-in Disney World they substitute the Magic Kingdom). They angle the film so at times you feel like you are "touching" water-don't worry they don't splash any on you. You can feel the coldness as you soar over icy regions. All in all the ride is gentle and more relaxing. Ideally it is best to be in the first row so that you won't see hanging feet from above but nevertheless the ride is just as enjoyable. To cut time, I'd recommend using Lightning Lane. Located in Grizzly Peak in CA Adventure. read more

Visiting the polar Arctic and its wildlife, the African plains and getting up close and personal to a migrating elephant herd... smell the grass, the city lights of Paris, the beautiful ocean water of the Fiji islands and migrating whales... smell that ocean air, the Iguaza Falls bordering Argentina and Brazil, Sydney Australia harbor, the wondrous Great Wall of China, the Great pyramids of Egypt. the beautiful grounds of the Taj Mahal... smell the tide blooms of the gardens, the American Monument Valley, the forest hillside European castle that inspired Walt Disney, and several other places that I do not recall. The flight ends back at Disneyland with a bang of fireworks. The ride is in Grizzly Peak, California Adventure park. You have to be taller than 40 inches to ride. The queue brings you through the aviators wings of fame which have portraits and descriptions of famous American aviators and aeronautical engineers on the wall. Wright brothers, Lindbergh, Earhart, Jacqueline Cochran, Yeager, Howard Hughes, and Tuskegee airmen. There were so many photos that I didn't see them all the both times I rode this; the line went quick each time. Love the bit of history. After the Wings of Fame section, you and your group are funneled to one of two concourses, then through one of three gates: Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie. You will view a before flight video hosted by the actor, Patrick Walburton, as the flight host. You buckle in like in an airplane seat. For little ones, there is a middle loop similar to a car seat that you need to use. The loop is on all the seats. The attendants come by to check the buckles and provide assistance. Place your bags in the cargo holder under your seat. Once the ride starts, a canopy is lowered over the row of seats. A cantilever maneuvers the row up off the ground and into a concave viewing screen. read more

Soarin' Around the World is a motion simulator ride at California Adventure that simulates a hang gliding flight over iconic locations including the Matterhorn, Great Wall, Taj Mahal, Great Pyramids, Fiji islands, Eiffel Tower, and more. The ride makes it feel like you're really flying, with your legs dangling over the seat, tilting and swaying in sync with real footage on the huge 180-degree domed screen, scents wafting towards you. And the film is slightly different at each Disney park, ending with a scene flying over each respective park. Truly a worldwide experience! This ride has comprised two films over its lifetime, the first being Soarin' Over California which debuted with the ride's opening in 2001. Unlike its predecessor, Soarin' Around the World makes use of some CGI, particularly around the transitions between scenes, but I thought it was tastefully done. Soarin' Around the World was introduced in 2019 and has been swapped in and out with its counterpart a few times since then. Feel the adventure In my opinion, the most awesome ride here. Spending all day in the park (I know you continue to read those reviews), this ride takes you on an aerial tour of the world. It was closed earlier in the day and I was pretty disappointed but it opened up after our lunch. The line was long but lighting pass allowed us to just breeze right through. I'm not sure how to describe the seating arrangements. Think of how all those battle droids in the Star Wars prequels got around in those troop carriers. Stacked in racks that went up and down. Well all the rows lifts up at different tiers so you see those above you their feet and below those riders are seeing your feet. Don't be dropping your slippers. Once you're lifted up the show starts. And what a show. You're soaring though mountains and forests and clouds. You visit Asia and Europe, Central America, and USA. There's no spinning, drastic drops, just planting you butt in the seat, wide eyed, and amazed. This was great and lived up to it's reputation. Overall five grand stars. Soarin' Around the World will always have a special place in my heart. My mom passed away earlier this year and this was her favorite ride. She started my obsession with all things Disney, DIsneyland and Disney World so this being her favorite ride was high praise! And I personally still love Soarin' but after being open for 20 years I think it needs a little sprucing up. Don't get me wrong, they've updated and refurbished the ride over the years, but something is now feeling a bit 'old' about it. Come on Imaginears at Disney, think of something cool my pea brain can't imagine! :P Even after being on Soarin' a million times though, I still get an adrenaline rush when I raise up in the air. Feeling like you're gliding in the air for just under 5 minutes is such a fun experience. I prefer the first row so I don't have any feet dangling down above me. It's fun feeling like you're flying through the air and love how they pump in smells and wind. That definitely adds to the experience! Napa and the Taj Mahal are highlights for me to soar over. Waits can get long for Soarin' but they are still usually less than Spider-Man, Guardians, & Toy Story...usually on par with Incredicoaster. read more
