Food is pretty typical amusement park pricing, and there's also a Starbucks and ice cream. Parking is free, which is a big plus. They also have picnic tables outside the entrance, and I believe the hand stamp they give you allows for same-day re-entry if you want to step out and come back. Initially I was told that they needed to pay a $55 park entry to have guided tours. That seemed silly for 85+ year olds since they would not be entering the park, so I was then told that self-guided tours were available. This is where it gets wonky. And where I'm honestly super angry. I scheduled for two of our communities to bring 23 people to Independence Hall for a self-guided tour yesterday (Thursday, September 10th). I contacted the tour department by phone on Wednesday, stating that I was bringing said seniors to an unguided tour the following day and asked if there was a better place for us to unload. We had a long conversation about where we could unload the residents that was closer to Independence Hall (BTW there is nothing for them). Imagine my frustration when we get to the parking lot and the attendant tell us that Independence Hall is closed for renovations (which apparently is not true). Are you freaking kidding me? We drove 45 minutes and my sister community drove even longer from RPV to come to see Independence Hall. Do you not think it would have been wise for the representative to let us know that it was closed? I researched it while I was having lunch with the residents at the at the restaurant. (Imagine driving 45 minutes just to eat lunch...) I could be wrong but NO WHERE on your site does it say that Independence Hall is closed. I finally googled it when I got back to work and found out from a 3rd party that this began September 2 and that going forward it is only open Saturdays and Sundays 'for budget reasons'. I have been an activity director at this high end community for 21 years. in that time, we have gone all over SoCAL from San Diego to Simi Valley and everywhere in between. I have NEVER has such a massive fail. You guys have screwed all of this up more than I can understand. We will not be back, and you just lost a long time fan of Knotts. Sidenote: Mrs. Knotts Chicken restaurant was delish and the staff was amazing. Still not worth 90 minutes round trip.

i only did disneyland this trip & didn't get a park hopper. we did rope drop, so we were there…read moreright when the gates opened. we were able to get all of the attractions we really wanted to ride out of the way before the lines got too long, without even using our lightning lane. then we used lightning lane throughout the rest of the day, which worked out really well for us. the morning was rainy, but honestly, it didn't stop the disney magic. most of the rides stayed open, so we were still able to do everything we wanted to do. once the rain stopped, the day got even better. all of the disney treats were yummy, the merch was fun to look through, & there were so many little side activities & things to see throughout the park. there was just so much to take in, & i genuinely had the best time. 10/10 disney day. nobody does it like disney.

The lighting is cool and the sounds and the displays are interesting. Overall it's good to see at least one time in my opinion but do plan accordingly.

I took a solo trip and had an excellent day despite a few hiccups along the way. The first thing I did was book it over to the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT ride. I got incredibly lucky. The Lightning Lane reservations were basically booked until almost 9 PM, and the standby wait was around 90 minutes. The Cast Member working customer service noticed I was by myself and worked a little Disney Magic to get me on. I really appreciated that! Easily one of the best rides in the park. I loved the reimagining of the old Tower of Terror and had an absolute blast. I tried to make it up front to meet Oswald, but his meet and greet suddenly disappeared from the app. I really wanted to meet him, but it's all good. I'll have to catch him on my next visit to California. The exact same thing happened with Black Panther. My top two character meet and greets canceled on me! That's probably my biggest complaint of the day, but let's be real, it's definitely a #FirstWorldProblem. Radiator Springs Racers had about a 70-minute wait, and you have to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane if you want to skip the regular line. Thankfully, the Single Rider line was only about 20 minutes, so I threw my Galaxy Buds in and thugged it out. Worth it! Cars Land itself is also incredibly immersive and beautifully designed. Walking around actually made me want to go back and watch the Cars movies again. Next, I kicked it over to Pixar Pier and rode the Incredicoaster. Easily one of my favorite rides between both Disneyland parks. It is so much fun from the moment you're strapped in and launched off to the sound of Dash's voice. 10/10. Loved it! Definitely grab a Lightning Lane because that line gets long FAST. Afterward, I saw Baymax was doing a meet and greet and hopped in line literally right before he went on a 15-minute break. After waiting, Baymax came back out with Hiro! I've never met Hiro at Disney before and honestly didn't even know he did meet and greets, so that was a really nice surprise. Then I went to ride Toy Story Midway Mania, but it broke down for the day after I had already waited about 20 minutes in line. Y'all, my luck was fluctuating UP and down all day. Haha. I wrapped up the day with Goofy's Sky School and WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. Sky School broke down too, but thankfully it came back up pretty quickly. I had a Lightning Lane and was already near the front. That being said, I probably would not ride it again. It was way too rickety for me, and my head kept knocking against the back of the seat. WEB SLINGERS was basically the same experience I had at Disneyland Paris, except this time it was in English, so I could actually understand the backstory of the ride! If you like Marvel and/or video games, it's definitely a must ride. Come to think of it, this ride broke down for a little while too. The Disney mechanics were OFF that day! Thankfully, these days everybody has earbuds and smartphones, so the extended waits didn't bother me too much. I ended the day with seeing Goofy and Mickey and some souvenir shopping for family and friends. Something about a Disney visit isn't complete to me without seeing Mickey Mouse! He was as energetic and effervescent as ever. He loved my Oswald the Rabbitt shirt. :) All in all, I had a great day and would absolutely come back again. There are still rides I didn't get to experience, and hopefully next time I can finally catch the Oswald and Black Panther meet and greets I missed. California Adventure has seriously stepped its game up since I first visited as a kid in 2001. Twenty-five years later, it feels like an entirely different park, and I had a great time exploring it all over again.
