They have a good variety of menu options, and it's a good place to go to when you want a casual midtown restaurant w/o typical bar food. Wine list isn't great but they do have BYOB. We have been going to District 7 for a few years and totally enjoy it. Great place to go for a casual dinner before a show or most anything else that we do in town. Tonight was better than usual. HUGO was our waiter. Hugo is good at his job and great at anticipating needs. Something as simple as keeping the iced tea glasses filled made the experience that much better. My wife had a salad and I had a pasta dish. Both very good. The creme brulet was one of the best we have had. District 7 just got better for us! read more

I'd never heard of District 7 Grill before my friend suggested it. I expected it to be a regular restaurant, but it was nothing close to what I expected -- it actually looks like a renovated diner, the kind you'd see in a movie in a midwest, rural town. It has a somewhat old, classy vibe that I appreciate. The service was outstanding; my waiter went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. We started with the Artichoke Spinach Dip, which was served with Tandoori Naan Flatbread. I'm not really a fan of artichoke, but the way this was prepared was nothing short of excellent; I loved this dish, and so did everyone that was with me. It was the right balance of creamy and savory, and I'd most certainly get this dish again. For my main course, I ended up ordering the Kobe Japanese Burger with the Truffle Tarragon Mustard Aioli sauce (which is a must with most of their burgers). It takes a lot to impress me with a burger, and this is the reason I'm giving District 7 Grill 4 stars instead of 5 -- the burger didn't have the punch I get from a burger at a place like Smashburger or Five Guys. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially the spinach dip we got for the appetizer. Swing by if you're ever in Midtown. It was a little out of the way for us, but it was well worth the drive. read more

I had the Black and Blue Tuna app. which was simply delicious and had the Wed. special, Salmon with a pesto pasta. Yesterday I went to D7 for the first time in a while. The menu has been updated, but I didn't really notice much difference in the food on the menu. OMG y'all. This place is incredible. If you go here, cross your fingers that you get Josh as a server. He is extremely knowledgeable and offers literally the best. I asked his opinion on a dish and he very politely steered me to something more tasty. We brought our own wine and if you get Josh, he won't charge you an uncorking fee. I was meeting a friend from out of town and I wanted to pick a place I have never been. Not knowing what to expect because I picked District 7 because I remember seeing it from my last visit at Christian's tailgate. We met up at 5:30 so the place was pretty empty. It is a cute little place. Something about it reminded me of Waffle House. I had a chicken pesto sandwich with sweet potato fries. Chicken was tender and flavorful. As the night went by a few more people started to come in. My friend ordered the wild boar pizza and he said it was excellent. It was a nice change of scenery and I am sure I will be back at some point. read more

Ate here yesterday for lunch. I sat at the bar and could see everything that came out of the kitchen. I was impressed. My chicken pesto burger was tasty. Have eaten at this location several times and finally decided to give it a review. Very good spot for lunch downtown in the tunnels, and popular. If you are in a hurry arrive before 11:30 and the line is nothing to speak of, starting about 11:30 it can get a little long but moves quick. Good salads, burgers, and specials. Portions as big as well, especially on the specials in my experience. Could easily be shared by two people. read more

The healthier options on the menu are usually excellent, especially salmon and talapia. Had a burger for the first time today, it was dry and likely frozen. I ordered the "fois gras burger" which is supposed to have a certified angus beef patty, on a toasted bun with caramelized onions and fois gras. What I got was a burger that had caramelized onions and grease slathered on it (there was NO fois gras left because they apparently cooked it down until it was just a greasy mess) which also destroyed the bun that it came on. When I asked for some actual fois gras (a pate like substance that is quite tasty) I was told "it is what it is, and you can't have anything else"... you're f#@king joking right ??? For $14!?!?!? The onions were not prepared in the manner that one would expect of a "boutique eatery" ... more like someone off the street just chopped them up as fast as they could... there was paper/skin in my sauteed onion... that's just bad quality! On to my beverages... I ordered a Stella... when it came I had to ask for a glass after it came to the table. That's poor service. Then I had to ask for a water (again, poor service). The stella was also luke warm... not what I'd expect for a $4 bottled beverage. Then I was informed that they had no more stella and I could order something else. I tried the "house red" which was ice-cold and tasted like turpentine. I left it on the table after one sip. I was NOT interested in an $8 glass of paint thinner. Overall, I paid $20 for a warm beer, a burger that was over-cooked, REALLY GREASY (like sopping wet, drippy, kind of greasy), that didn't come with the ingredients that it was advertised with AND (!!!) they charged me more than the advertised prices on the menu (I didn't realize this until I had already left). The staff is clueless, and underskilled... the food is an atrocity (they use amazing ingredients like angus and kobe beef and fois gras: then make them into garbage through amazingly poor execution)... the beer is warm, the "house-red" wine is ice-cold and utterly gross... overall this place was horrible! read more

Very good restaurant! Nice location and cuisine. I think this restaurant is veru successful and it's not a surprice for me, because this is a nice place to hang out with a few friends or a girlfriend. They have decent prices and cozy interior. And also District 7 is very good for vegitariand, because this place has the best veggie burger I have ever tasted in Houston, that's for sure. I was in town on a business trip and tried District 7 with two other people. We were all very pleasantly suprised. Not only were our meals delicious, but it was also ridiculously inexpensive. I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but I felt compelled to this time. The food was fine; nothing to write home about. Service was acceptable. The problem was when my wife and I received our food. I had to ask for silverware and napkins, which can happen at places (I work in the industry), but the server came back saying they didn't have any and handed us plastic knives and forks you get for takeout that broke in half when we first used them. Every other table had the real deal, and it wasn't even busy. I hope I didn't look like a heathen eating my meal with my hands. I won't be back, and will tell others to avoid. read more

I often get food to go here as my office is about a five minute walk away. Good food, especially the burgers and pasta dishes. If you want a decadent burger I recommend the Kobe Beef burger but they have many other varieties as well. Their prices have gone up some since they introduced a new menu but they're still fairly reasonable for the area. They also have brunch on the weekend which I haven't tried yet. read more

I have been here 2 times this month with my coworkers. Often when you go out with coworkers, you can't always be picky and often I end up eating unhealthy. I'm glad that we go to District 7 because they offer an excellent selection of healthy choices. They have a special part on the menu called "Bowl Lite", I tried the Rosemary chicken spinach salad and open-faced grilled chicken on rye (only 1 slice of bread so save some carb there!). These felt very light and delicious as well, not like some restaurants that try to have healthy option but ends up with a non-healthy type salad and taste crappy. My coworkers ordered pizza, burgers, which all look delicious as well, but glad I have the choice to order good tasting healhty meals. Good place to go for lunch with co workers but not sure I would go out of my way personally to come here for lunch. read more
