I picked up my dog from District Dogs Navy Yard after a 7-day boarding stay and found a significant scuff on his nose that was actively bleeding. I received absolutely no notification that he had been injured. When I asked the associate what happened, his response was essentially, "I have no idea, I'm just working the evening pickup." When I asked whether the injury had been treated, I was told, "I don't think so." I then had to ask for something to treat the wound, at which point peroxide spray and a product to stop the bleeding were brought out. So my dog was injured while in their care, yet no one at pickup could tell me how or when it happened, whether it had been treated, or why I was never contacted. That is unacceptable and raises serious questions about the level of supervision provided during boarding. My dog was also groomed on his final day. I specifically flagged areas that had been missed during his previous grooming, only for those same areas to be missed again. The grooming appeared rushed. I returned to the facility in person and spoke with James, the acting manager. During that conversation, James acknowledged that he had personally observed the injury on my dog's final day but failed to notify me about it. That acknowledgment was particularly concerning because it confirmed that the injury had been noticed before pickup, yet I was still never informed. During that same visit, I personally observed employees screaming at dogs and banging on cages. I also observed what I considered unsanitary conditions in the lobby. After seeing this firsthand, combined with the unexplained injury and my dog's noticeably distressed demeanor after his stay, my concerns extended well beyond poor customer service. I was genuinely disturbed by what I witnessed and by the conditions in which animals appeared to be handled. I later received a call from Perfecto, the manager, regarding the situation. Despite the injury, failure to notify me after it was observed, concerns about how it was treated, the grooming issues, and what I personally witnessed at the facility, I was informed that he was unable to offer any compensation for the experience, inconvenience, or injury. Accidents can happen. What is unacceptable is the lack of communication, documentation, follow-through, and accountability afterward. This experience also follows previous instances where I've felt a lack of support from this location, making it increasingly difficult to view these issues as isolated incidents. Given the publicly reported concerns surrounding this business in the past, I would expect animal safety, transparency, and accountability to be treated with the utmost seriousness. Instead, my experience left me questioning whether enough has changed. Returning my dog actively bleeding after the injury had already been observed, failing to notify me, and the conduct I personally witnessed during my subsequent visit were deeply concerning from an animal-welfare standpoint. Based solely on what I personally experienced and observed, I no longer have confidence in this facility's ability to provide the standard of care, supervision, cleanliness, and communication I expect when entrusting someone with my dog. They also provided me with a report card and comments. The comments they gave me also felt very generalized, almost like it came off a template. They used "they/them" instead of "he," which made it feel impersonal. The playrooms themselves looked small and honestly a little overcrowded with dogs. Definitely not as much space as I would have expected for them to run around comfortably. Also, heads up if you're driving, there isn't much parking in the front, which made drop-off and pick-up kind of stressful. Overall, not the worst, but I wasn't super impressed and probably wouldn't bring Chronos back here regularly. read more

No one told me and I had to find out myself after my dog scooted, whined, and kept licking the cut areas. I tried to bring the cuts to the attention of management and was told by Kelli that it was from her being spayed. My puppy has never been spayed and is currently on her period right now. This morning, I was shocked and disappointed to learn that my dog and I had been "terminated" as a client of District Dogs. Two months ago, after the tragedy at the NE location, my partner sent an email asking for information on flood evacuation procedures at the Navy Yard location. We never received a response. I take this to mean they do not have a flood evacuation procedure, but feel free to draw your own conclusions... I called this location this morning inquiring as to why our relationship had been terminated. I had a long conversation with the General Manager where I was told our email was "disrespectful" and was lectured on how I "was not the victim here." I have never been treated that way by someone nominally in a customer service field and found it extraordinarily unprofessional. My only guess is that they're facing a number of lawsuits and trying to distance themselves from clients that ask the hard questions. I know we don't have a ton of options in the area, but I highly recommend you place your dog somewhere else, in more professional care. read more

Myeshia always takes the extra time to make sure she knows exactly what I'm looking for from the grooming, she ensures Rosie is happy and comfortable, and has consistently provided excellent services - whether it's a simple bath or a full "makeover" (see photos), I can't speak highly enough about Myeshia. I recently brought my dog Wrigley to District Dogs to do the 12 day board and train program with Michael Hill. While completing the program, Wrigley loved District Dogs. The staff was friendly and I got a report card with photos every day to document her progress! Anytime I checked in on the dog cameras in the day care, I would see Wrigley having fun playing with the staff or her other dog friends. The results from her board and train program with Michael Hill have been amazing. While she just completed the program, she is already like a different dog. Before completing the program she was a highly-reactive dog that would bark at any dog or human that she saw. Now, we are able to walk her without any issues and she seems to actually enjoy being outside. I am so glad that we decided to do the board and train program with Michael and excited to go back to District Dogs in the future. If District Dogs were closer to our house, Wrigley would definitely be going to District Dogs more frequently. read more

I really have nothing bad to say about this place. I recently adopted a covid puppy and signed up for the 6 week puppy basics class which was really really great! This class helped me nail down the basics with my pup allowing us to build from there. I've even done a few 1-1 sessions with Sophia (who's so good with my very vocal very stubborn pup) to help with very specific behavioral concerns. By the end of the session, I was so impressed to see actual improvement with my pup. The customer portal is very simple and easy to navigate. They remember my dog every time I bring him in, which of course makes me feel special. They offer special events for the puppies (Christmas pictures, pup/parent workouts). They use positive reinforcement when training. And my pup goes CRAZY every time he gets close to the building. Definitely would recommend if you're a new puppy parent. I learned a TON. read more

That particular location had flooded in the past and should have either not been operating from that building, or had a solid emergency plan in place. The owner should be held accountable and all locations should be shut down. Please reconsider using their services if you love your animal. My dog got a grooming today at District Dogs. Pros: I was able to get an appointment quickly without having to sit on a waitlist. Her haircut looks great and she smells fresh and clean! Cons: My dog is ~15 pounds and the haircut was 150 dollars! Seems like a lot for a tiny dog hair cut. I dropped my dog off around noon and she wasn't done until 6:00 pm! Michael Hill had our 1.5 year old German Shepherd for the 7 day board and train program at District Dog. Now Bucky is definitely a smart cookie but after his training with Michael he has been nothing short of great. However, for me what has been the most invaluable aspect of Michael's training has been the insight he has been able to share with me about the German Shepherd breed, what that means for training/things I should be focused on off leash, and most importantly what I need to do be doing myself when working with Bucky. Michael really understands dogs and people and how we interact with one another. Michael has not only given me confidence in Bucky but also confidence in how I work with Bucky myself, which has made all the difference. This review is for grooming only. We had our very first puppy cut with Myeshia- and we have been coming back ever since! Myeshia is incredibly passionate about her job and it shows through her work. We have a mini golden doodle who has very curly hair that gets tangled very quickly despite our constant combing. Myeshia always returns our Rikki looking and smelling like a brand new pup. We have asked since the beginning that she keeps Rikki's face "teddy-bear" like and she delivers every time.
