Honestly have become obsessed with this place, to where I now go once or twice a week. And I have to tell you- my husband and I got Pad Thai here yesterday and OMG!!!! UNBELIEVABLE! It was so authentic and delicious, you need to keep it on your menu all the time! People will line up just for that. Everything was cooked to perfection. This is a new restaurant that opened recently in the heart of Avalon. The decor and atmosphere is really good and decent food as well. Good drinks at the bar tender. My only gripe with this place is that they keep running out of their main courses. I've tried ordering a few things during lunch hour and they ran out which is odd for a restaurant of this caliber. FOOD POISONING for the family. We usually order here Bc it's closest to our house even though the high price does not match the quality level of the food. When we do order here it's usually Bc we crave Vietnamese that bad that even though the food can be over distasteful at its worst and mediocre at its best we never felt the need to share our feedback until last night. Every time including last night when we order egg rolls, it would be so burnt like it was recooked 3 times. You taste more of the oil thn anything. The fish sauce is so overpowering that when you use in any dish, it mask all the other flavor of what Vietnamese dish are suppose to taste like. I work next door and i come here often . Today i ordered a dish based off the bartenders recommendation. It was burnt at the bottom and very far from fried rice. I tell the guy it's not what I expected and the owner over hears me . He then tells the man to pack it up to go after i repeatedly said i didn't like the taste of anything. Once i said I'm not paying for that he looked me in my eyes and condescendingly said "oh of course your not paying for it". As if i was trying to get free food or something. Asian food is my favorite and it sucks that they show no respect to black people. I asked why he said it that way and he just smiled . The bartender then tells me "if I was you I'd just eat it anyways it's free and you get a chance to try something new" logically i have already tried it so why would i want to take it home. I'm sure this review won't make a difference but at least people understand my experience after one time of not liking something. read more

Why this place isn't packed to the rafters on a Thursday night in hoppin Avalon is beyond me because it is the best Vietnamese anywhere outside the Perimeter and frankly could rival a few ITP as well. We started with appetizers and started with the tuna tartare (fresh and cooling with a great twist on the usual, served with cool little rice puffs), the fried stone eggplant (amazing and just melted with each bite) and the wings which were crunchy, crispy and just a delicious sweet and sour mix of tang and fish sauce. My wife had the vermicelli with pork which was delicious but I had the Pho combo and good lord it was fantastic! Serious bone broth rivaling any I have had before. A definite "must try." Only negative is they don't have bahn-mi for dinner. Guess I'll be back for lunch!!! read more

Omg! Finally, a Vietnamese restaurant in Alpharetta, this mean I don't have to drive all the way down to Buford hwy. Being someone who loves Vietnamese food and grew up with lots of Vietnamese friends I was a little skeptical walking into District 3. We sat down and our server Matt greeted us with some water. He went over the menu and told us it was their 2nd day open so the menu was limited. We had the pho combo which came with meatball, filet mignon and brisket and let me tell you I've never had meat in pho that melted in your mouth. It was so good I just keep on dreaming about it hours later. My friend had the lemongrass Chicken, which was also tasty with a great spicy kick to it. All in all I've been here 3 times since they open and I've loved everything!! This is my favorite place so far in the new Avalon, eat it while you can folks cause soon the wait will probably be 3 hrs everyday. P.S. They did a great job with the wine menu. They offer Prisoner and Faust by the glass which is really rare to find anywhere in the city. read more

With high ceilings, lots of natural light, and robin's egg colored walls, District III offers really nice ambience. The food is great and they have lots of vegetarian options, including vegeterian pho and a number of tofu dishes. Over an hour wait here because they are so popular already. They don't take reservations. Kitchen closed when I went for friends and family opening celebration. They already have 2 nights where the entire restaurant has been bought out and they've only been open for two days. Had Prisoner white wine at the bar. Excited by the menu selections and ambiance. 2nd visit with a friend and was pleasingly surprised that they added 2 more rolls in the shrimp roll appetizer. So you now get 4 adequately sized rolls with their yummy peanut sauce. This i can say is priced fairly. We both ordered beef brisket pho soup which never disappoints. The meat portion was satisfactory. We paid $34 plus tip for 2 entrees and 1 appetizer. This will be our go to pho restaurant all fall/winter season. As Asians we dont mind driving far to find a filling Pho but this experience will save us a trip to pleasant hill's iluvpho. Famished and bumbling around Avalon, unable to interact in a retail setting, we opted to instead re-fuel our brainiums with food, having not eaten on this cold windy Saturday. Susan opted for the tofu stir fry, which I found completely delicious... and my shrimp curry she found delicious. Next time, I will get the stir fry and she will get the curry! She had 2 Strawberry Mojitos, and not only did she get crunk, they looked and she said they were amazing. Since we arrived oh what's the word, not hangry, but you know, where you're so hungry you start becoming unable to make sentences, to trip over curbs... we also ordered the eggplant appetizer. It was a bit too oily for us, but somehow we made that all disappear. The setting is quite nice, high volume ceiling, big open bar, nice booths, lots of windows... the only knock down was the men's room was kinda gross. We will definitely return. read more

After writing the previous review, I also tried to connect with the restaurant via FB. After leaving a message on the FB profile, it took several attempts on both our parts to connect, but someone there did issue us a credit to our credit card for the overcharge. We appreciate that they were able to connect with us and make this situation right. Based on our dining experience, service, and enjoyment of the meal on the day we visited, I won't hesitate to come back. I may cautiously pay using only cash or take a picture of our signed receipt as a prevention measure for further problems, but those are also practices that we could implement at all dining establishments where gratuities may be misinterpreted of falsified. Visited District III last night and it was enjoyable. Food is very tasty and of good quality with each dish nicely presented. We tried the Egg Rolls (Shrimp, Chicken & Ground Pork), Shaken Beef and Clay Pot Combination all very good. Décor is very nice with a very lively cadence for a Friday Night Dinner Rush. The portions as mentioned by some of the other reviewers are barely adequate for the price point. Service is also a bit slow as it took at least 15 minutes for our server to visit our table just for our drink order. Overall would visit again. read more

I love love love District III, but not for pho. If I am craving pho, I have other places I like to go. I do enjoy the pho at District III, but for me when you are eating pho you expect fast service. I go to pho places that are fast and inexpensive and maybe even grab a Bah Mi to go or 2. Not to say the service is slow at this restaurant, but to me this is a place where you explore their yummy offerings. Their clay pot dish is delicious and worth a try. read more

The pho here is so, so yummy! I thought we hit the jackpot when MF Bar opened at the Avalon, but with the addition of District III, I couldn't be happier.
