We were seated towards the back of the restaurant and it was pretty dark, or maybe I'm just getting old. I ordered the steak and eggs with Yukon potatoes and a side salad. Unfortunately, the steak and eggs were both very salty They were almost inedible for me. It was disappointing because the dish itself sounded great on the menu and looked even better on the plate. On the bright side, the Yukon potatoes were excellent. They were crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside, exactly how I like them. That texture contrast really saved the plate for me. My partner and I also shared a side of sausage, and that ended up being one of the highlights. The sausage was different from the typical breakfast sausage. It reminded me more of a fresh, homemade style. I especially appreciated that it didn't have a strong fennel flavor, which can sometimes overpower the sausage. To be honest, this was my third choice for dinner in Midtown last week. I was looking for a moderately priced location for a dinner my company would be paying for, and both the Reading Room and Parlour Room were packed at 7 pm. I felt like I won the lottery.
