I love the ambience of the space itself: it's like Ellicott City without having to go into EC. Reading other comments here, service was fine for us on a Friday night. Water came immediately, drink orders right after that, appetizer 5 minutes later, and then the burgers. A menu with lots of interesting choices; not a fine dining place, but a place where it's easy to knosh on one thing, then try another, and another, over good conversation. We loved the brussel sprout appetizer: perfectly cooked, slightly charred and crisp edges, tossed in a balsamic glaze. The only negative I can add is that one person in our group wanted the burger *extra* well done, but all burgers came out medium well done. More like 3.5 stars. We liked this place, although there were a few shortcomings. We would probably eat here again the next time we come to Savage Mill. (There really isn't any competition.) The location is historic and awesome, so that elevates the experience right off the bat. Service was good and friendly, although we would have benefited from an additional visit from the server between the time the food was delivered but before we were nearly done. We were awkwardly left with a device to pay our bill with a credit card, but when I chose the option to print the receipt (which is printed elsewhere), I had to ask a random employee if they could get me the receipt. The food was very good, but on the expensive side. A large bowl of mac & cheese (with no additions, like meat) was $15. It was delicious (4/5). The menu's description is a bit deceiving and we thought tots or fries came with the bowl, but it doesn't, so the hand-cut fries were an additional $4. The large serving had the potential to be excellent, but they were not hot (3/5). The grilled cheese sandwich with tomato, called the ultimate warrior, comes with your choice of any 3 cheeses out of 9 (!). At $12, it again felt a bit expensive. Despite the "ultimate warrior" designation, it wasn't colossal or anything, but it was very good (4/5). It did come with a choice of side, but the regular tater tots (2/5) seemed to be the standard ones that you get frozen from the supermarket. (They were out of our first choice sweet potato tots.) We look forward to coming back and trying some new things. read more

I would like to have been able to include the actual food at this place in my review, but I didn't even get that far. My son and I walked in around 2:00pm on a Monday (obviously not prime time). There were a few tables seated outside on the patio, but only one other table occupied in the dining room, where we sat. Ten minutes in, not only had we not even ordered drinks, but hadn't even been acknowledged by a server (there were 2 on the floor). Then another couple gets seated 2 booths away from us and gets their whole order (including food) in while we hadn't even been greeted by a server. Finally, at least 15 minutes later, I stop a server that was about to walk right by us yet again and asked if she was our server. Her response was, "I can be."...I don't know which was worse, that fact that she walked right by us at least 4 times with zero acknowledgment during that entire time, or the inept "server" that kept seeing us from across the room without ever approaching. We just left because we weren't about to wait around to see what else they would screw up. Don't waste your time or money. read more

We finally made it out to Dive after wanting to go for hubby's birthday, but not making reservations in time. It was good. The atmosphere is cool. Love the converted mill vibe. Service was good. Our waitress was very nice. Took a minute to order, but that's not unusual now a days. They didn't have a few things, but the menu is awesome with lots of tempting options. I went for the rueben. I love corned beef, but only if it's not too fatty. I asked the waitress and she said it was lean. She was right! The only thing I wasn't sure about was the fries on the sandwich. I don't think they added anything to it, and after two bite, decided to take them off. The homemade chips were crispy and would have been super yummy, but they were over seasoned and salty. Hubby liked his wrap very much. He loved the dressing and the heat that came in the back end. The veggies were fresh and the chicken was not dry like it can often be. We would come back. Please do not become a repeat of the previous owner's where staff ignore paying customers for the sake of socializing together and clock- watching out of sight. Dive's opening was great, and somehow is already falling apart on the service and food levels. We have high hopes. Spend the time and money on staff who wants to be there to make people feel welcomed, vs in their way by showing up. There is one bartender ( Young-ish African American male ) who we met on more than one earlier visit, who is friendly and attentive, rather than disappearing for long stretches and occasionally showing up with a bad attitude or complete dead silence. Fix this issue of the rest of the disappearing staff and largely mediocre overpriced food dishes lacking seasoning and portions, and Dive will be be the place to hang out again for years to come. read more

Super happy that a new restaurant has taken the spot of Ramshead. We have only gotten carry out from here twice, but each time has yielded a lovely experience! I highly recommend the fried cremini as an appetizer - we get it each time and it's super yummy. I also recommend any of the burgers - even when getting carry out they still manage to get the burger cooked the way you want. Unlike other places where you request medium rare and when you get home it's somehow well done, Dive has not let me down in providing a medium rare burger. My friends have has the stuffed sandwiches that they recommend as well. Looking forward to dining in sometime soon! read more

We went to the soft opening on 11/5 and were so pleased with the results. Adrian was our server and he was incredible. He was professional, engaging, personable and attentive. The restaurant was spotless and had a great atmosphere. We ordered the mini mozzarella bites and they were perfect even to share. I had the crabby tots as an entree and they were hot and delicious especially because the tots stayed crispy. My friend had the one armed fisherman with fries and she also really said hers had great flavor. All the staff were very accommodating! We can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu! I was so disappointed in the Grilled Caesar Salad with Shrimp entree that I ordered last night. The ends of the romain bunches were so hard to cut with the provided serrated knife that I could not eat them. The caesar dressing was pretty tasteless, the powdered parmesan was disgusting. I ate it anyway, but it does not compare to the entree that used to be served by the previous establishment. Choice of music in the background was awful. Service was mediocre. Good service and beer but unfortunately all the food we ate was too heavy and creamy.

We were there Friday night and I am sorry the food was not good at all, I got a chicken sub that was supposed to have mozzarella, prosciutto and chicken. No joke half the sub had chicken the other half was just lettuce and tomato. It was one strip of prosciutto a small piece of mozzarella only covering a quarter of the roll that had the chicken on it. I will say this, the host/hostess and wait staff was amazing, attentive and on the ball. The food was not, all of our table had bad food, no on finished their food at all. read more
