Getting a bit lost in Loomis today turned into a great discovery; Divine Desserts! Cute little shop with a great variety of cakes, tarts and other yummy looking treats . I love that they have individual slices of cake too! There were so many tasty looking options that it was a difficult decision but, since I wanted to enjoy my treat on the drive home, I went with the honey almond bar. YUM, loved it and it was only $1.25! The end was dipped in chocolate; I like anything dipped in chocolate! Went to our Memorial Day family picnic in auburn. One of the guest brought this absolutely super delicious chocolate cake. I'm not a chocolate fan, but I was amazed at how good it tasted and told everyone to try the cake. I found out that this yummy cake was from divine desserts and that Lisa, the guest that brought the cake, is a baker at divine desserts and she had baked the cake. (How sweet of her). Divine desserts is one of the highlights of my life and I say that with the utmost seriousness. I look forward to divine desserts every time I drive out on the 80 to go snowboarding. It's a stop that cannot be missed and I always want to order everything but sadly end up with only one pastry and one dessert which I gobble up immediately. It's a great breakfast for snowboarding Tip: they only make a couple of everything so if you don't show up early they will have a very small selection available. So if you have a favorite, give them a call and have them hold it for you, or I guess you may even call the day before to ask them to bake you an extra one. I think someone I know has done that also. I have bought cakes from Divine and they were excellent. My latest experience was totally bad. I ordered a chocolate cake with chocolate filling. The girl asked if I wanted German chocolate? I said ok with chocolate filling. When I picked up the cake it had coconut frosting (German chocolate standard). I asked if it had chocolate filling, she said yes. When I cut the cake it was coconut filling. Not only the wrong filling was was half filling half cake. The filling was at least an half an inch thick. All you could taste was the filling. They were our first and only tasting. The samples were delicious and Mrs. Aguillar was the sweetest woman. She helped us with quantity and because I wanted variety, she suggested an alternative dessert option that was a perfect fit AND was less expensive. Presentation was great! I had only sent a photo of what I wanted the cut cake to look like. That and an email with a couple of "extras". When I walked in to the room reveal and saw the beautiful cake I was so happy with it! Perfect, elegant and simple. Just what I wanted. Now for the important part... taste! DELICIOUS! The week before the wedding, I was counting the days down until I got to have this dessert. We used Divine Desserts for our wedding cake and were thrilled. Everyone raved about it! We also decided not to live by tradition and save our top layer. We ate our strawberry champagne delight for breakfast the day after! Sooooo delicious. Can't say enough good things. Esther was great to work with. They set us up with a cooler which kept the cake fresh until it was ready to be unveiled. I usually get my cakes from a friend that owns her own business out of her house and they are excellent and beautiful but also very expensive. And I usually have to drive about 15-20 minutes away to go get it and usually pay cash and wait a couple days for it. I wanted something fast that I could pay with credit card that was not as expensive so I decided to stop by this place. They had a couple small round cakes for under thirty bucks so I purchased one and it was absolutely amazing! I'm not sure the exact size but it was about the same size in diameter is a basketball. This place is very affordable and has excellent flavor. I even purchased an individual cake for myself it was a strawberry champagne cake for under $4 and had half of it for breakfast haha.
