Divo Diva has taken the Pappalecco location in Hillcrest on 5th ave. The name suites the place well given it is owned by two opera singers, a husband and wife team. Their soft opening consists as a coffee house serving espresso based beverages, delicious baked goods, bagels, and paninis. I this visit, I had a cortado and a limoncello croissant. Yes, that is right, a decadent croissant stuffed with a limoncello custard. The cortado was very good, but the croissant was bliss. The croissant had great texture and flavor, and the custard inside was a lemon lover's dream come true. The lemon flavor of the custard was delicious and its texture was super creamy. I loved it! In a few weeks, around the time of their official grand opening, they will also be serving "pinsas" or Roman style pizzas and charcuterie boards. I can wait to return to try both. In the evenings, Divo Diva will be a wine bar, and don't be surprise to stumble upon an operatic solo or duo. The place offers inside and outside seating and guest Wi-Fi as well. Divo and Diva is a wonderful coffee shop for a great breakfast or lunch. They serve wonderful desserts, coffee drinks and wine until 4pm. daily. The owners, Rosario and Victoria are professional opera singers and open their beautiful coffee shop several times a month in the evening to sing opera favorites, show tunes and Italian songs. I have attended their shows a minimum of 10 times enjoying their beautiful music with a glass of prosecco, a charcuterie board, lasagna or a quality salad. For many years the Shell was my place to listen to music. What Divo and Diva provide is good food, excellent entertainment, intimate setting and a warm and generous attitude. They should be performing not only at their coffee shop and other events around town, they should be a headliner at the Shell. read more

Our wonderful experience of the Christmas show was Very Special... Victoria & Rosario are so real and likeable, they obviously love one another and each have an individual aliveness & a special connection. Of course their voices are extraordinary and it's all of our chance to be just feet away from a celebration of opera, love and magic... there's magic in the moments. Divo Diva is by far one of my favorite cafes in San Diego. When you first enter the cafe, I was greeted by such a lovely server! Jo helped me navigate their specialty drinks and was very knowledgeable about the menu! The Kentastic, Peach Boys, and Lady Lupe are such great drinks and I highly recommend! The atmosphere was also very nice! The cafe is decorated with ornate bookshelves and accents of gold and blue. Would definitely come again for the coffee and great service ! read more

My husband and I had heard about Divo Diva and their dinner shows. (Rave reviews!) We were delighted when they added a 2nd show featuring music from Phantom of the Opera. What a delightful evening we enjoyed! From the greeting by Victoria (looking oh so glamorous!), to the Charcuterie platter and prosecco, to the performance of some opera classics, to the featured songs - every part of the evening was marvelous. The lasagna was first rate (and a very generous serving) and their support staff was equally adept at making us feel welcomed. Rosario and Victoria's voices were magnificent!!! My first experience dining at Divo Diva was on Opera Night featuring the music performed by Luciano Pavarotti. The owners, Victoria Robertson and Rosario Monetti sing opera music on special nights a couple times a month with unique themes. In February there will be three weekly performances of Operatic Love Songs celebrating Valentine's Day which I have reserved ahead of time because I loved my first evening so much; the food, the ambiance and the service were all wonderful. These performance sell out so I recommend for everyone to have a reservation well ahead of time. Opera is not the only attraction for Divo Diva, I stopped by for lunch a week ago with and had a divine cup of Cappuccino and an omelette,salad and country potatoes after a walk in nearby Balboa Park with my best friend and life coach. Today, we stopped by Divo Diva after going by Chuze Fitness to have lunch before taking a walk in Balboa Park afterwards. We had the same delicious cappuccino, omelette and potatoes. Victoria sat down and chatted with us about the upcoming Love Theme Opera night, so my best friend and I shared a slice of Pistachio and Ricotta Cheese Cake and a cup of Blood Orange Tea. The cake was so delicious. The Blood Orange Tea was so tasty, it didn't even need to be sweetened after the dessert. I live in the SDSU area but we love to drive to Hillcrest and enjoy the European Atmosphere of Divo Diva where the diverse selection of European Jazz and Electro Music. They have a fine selection of wine, beer, coffee and tea plus fresh croissants, filled croissants (Lemoncello, Almond, Nutella, Pistacchio), Assorted Pastries, Desserts, Cakes, and Italian Gelato! They even have Italian conversation night on Mondays for those of us who want to learn or polish up our Italian speaking. read more

Such a cute place in Hillcrest to grab breakfast! I had a lox bagel that was so delicious, they added marinated tomatoes that elevated the bagel and everything was so fresh. They have an extensive latte menu with so many fun flavors, I need to go back to try more! This place is a total hidden gem. First, the decor is stunning! Not only is it styled to perfection, the Christmas/holiday decorations are a beautiful touch. Second, the food and drinks were delicious. I had the Fancypants avocado toast, and every bite was yummy! My drink was really delicious as well and the latte art was on point. Third, the customer service is outstanding! While I was sitting there getting some work done, a lot of regulars came in and were greeted by the friendly owner, Victoria. Discovered this cute European style cafe and wine bar in Hillcrest when I had some time to grab breakfast. I loved the giant mirror on the inside and the fun, colorful, decorations of the space that remind you of France/Italy. Their coffee is listed under their specialty drinks and includes specials. They had some fun drinks inspired by Barbie. I got a Kentastic Latte which is comprised of blackberry and vanilla bean. Both flavors actually went really well together and weren't overbearingly sweet. I also enjoyed a Lox bagel and they did seem to forget that I ordered one as I waited for a bit until someone asked what I was waiting on. No worries though, as they prepared it quickly. I love stopping into local coffee shops in my neighborhood and now I have a new favorite. I was leaving a workout class and decided to grab an iced coffee as a treat. That's when I realized that Pappalecco had closed and Divo Diva was open! The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the beautiful interior. I came to the Divo Diva Cafe on date. I had no idea where I was going, and what a happy surprise. Immediately when entering the space, we were greeted by the performers and staff. A charcuterie was ready at our table along with Prosecco. The room as ready a buzz. The evening consisted of a rousing set of songs that span well-known Opera and pop crossover hits of Andrea Bocelli. The format of evenings was a few songs and brief breaks accompanied by the different courses--appetizer, main & dessert. It was a magical, emotional evening. Highly recommend! read more

Coffee was amazing. Tiramisu and blueberry Scone were delicious. Service was so good and so friendly. Victoria has the best greeting smile I have seen in a while at a business. Easy to tell she loves what she does and the service the shop provides. Have to mention this... After we enjoyed our coffee and left the store and arrived our location in Chula Vista, we wanted to take a nap so that later we could go bar hopping downtown S.D, then, we realized she was missing her cell phone!! I called the coffee shop as we thought that was th last place we remember seeing it. No answer. I decided to call one more time, no answer. Then, as I was checking to see what the store hours were and was realizing they were closed already, we were settling in to go the next day and ask if they had found the phone, but my cell phone rang and it was Victoria !!! She told me they in fact had found the phone. Asked some if I wanted to come pick it up or come back the next day, I politely asked if I could go right back to get it and would take me no more than 20 minutes and Victoria instantly said sure I will wait for you. O.M.G who does that nowadays right? I immediately went to get the phone and again, Victoria met me at the store (which had been closed already for a while) with a bright happy smile. I can't tell you how grateful we are for you to allow us to grab that phone same night. Not because of the phone itself but for the fact that we were expecting calls. Came here at 8:30am for breakfast with a group of 4. The cafe is cozy and bright, with big windows and open to the outside. We ordered at the counter and then found a seat. Our drinks came out immediately, but we did wait quite a while for our food to come out, despite us being the only customers there. There was 1 mistake with one of our orders, but the kitchen fixed it and the corrected order was out within 5 minutes. All of our food was delicious! Our group tried the açaí bowl, the croissant breakfast sandwich and a bagel with lox. A great spot overall! read more

What a cute little coffee spot! The staff were so warm and welcoming here! It's an Italian coffee shop with a very modern vibe. I had the Princess Sara (espresso, oat milk and strawberry sauce) and that was delicious! We sat down by the window, and it was kind of sunny there (we had a stroller with us). Someone came over (the owner?) and lowered the sun shade for us, which I thought was very thoughtful! The coffee was so good, I came back here after my brunch to grab one for my husband! Walked by this place and one of the workers invited us in just to check out the menu and to let us know they were a new business. We were on our way to brunch so we decided to stop by after that was done. This has a cafe style, with lots of small tables. They sold sandwiches, soups, baked goods, coffee/tea, and desserts. We decided to order one of their desserts to go. I don't recall the name but it had ricotta and pistachio. It was soooooooo good!! It was light and airy, and I had never tried anything like it. My daughter and I really enjoyed the mood that was set here. We love that there's a sense of comfort here not like some of the other coffee places where its all white and cold and super modern with there sharp lines in the architecture. We Loved the decor and since it's October, we both appreciated the little Fall touches in the place. Service was nice and friendly as well. We ordered the Eric's Glad Boy, Kingly Tut and ham and cheese croissant. I was very pleased with the Kingly Tut. Not overly sweet and the perfect blend of vanilla and hazelnut. The Eric's Glad Boy was ok, a tad on the sweet side. We shared the croissant since we were having lunch in a few hours. We both thought the croissant was delicious. It had that nice flaky crust and you can hear the texture when you tap on it. The disappointing part though was instead of cheddar cheese they put American cheese on the sandwich. I don't think American cheese should belong in this Ham and Cheddar croissant. Otherwise, this would have received 5 stars. I'll definitely be back to try some other food items and coffee as well. read more

But they kept asking the same questions over & over about our order & still brought out a few orders wrong . Not enough Açaí in the bowl for the price . They're held regularly at the Cafe in the evenings.
