It's in the name! Heavenly! What a sweet surprise, a unique ambiance to a busy little town right outside of downtown Sd near balboa park. We came here while our kids had prom and we loved every moment. From the food, to the staff, the little store and even the drink section with wine and beer. Not to mention lots of health options! Price is reasonable and the food was delicious! One guy even came to give us a sample of their cheese (forgot the name) This place is special Can't wait for the breakfast Acia's!

Today I went for a breakfast sandwich and it was great! Decent price at $15. It tasted fresh and healthy, not oily at all. Parking is easy during the week but I could see it being tough on weekends. Mostly meter parking though. Line was decently long but it went quick and the food came out quick!

LOVE the concept of a wine and coffee bar, not really sure how many of these we have in San Diego! A friend of mine (a wine lover) suggested this place when I told her I like going to cafes and I'm glad she did. It seemed to be busy on the weekend as expected but there were a lot of available tables. They also have high bar tables making it an amazing place to work and study. I ordered a latte and it was great. Their pastry collection looked so delicious, maybe next time. They also sell packaged snacks, juices and other items at their "store". Their wine collection is also pretty amazing. They also have a lot of tables in their backyard which I completely missed Overall, I really like their concept and would come back again

the Bodega Latte, house choice: flavored with vanilla and a touch of saffron 3

Oh Heavenly Bodega, how I love you so! I'd gatekeep you if I could, but alas, the people deserve to know. Heavenly Bodega is a welcome addition to Banker's Hill, offering pastries, meals, and drinks alike. It is also a bodega in the upper crust sense of the word... rows and rows of high-quality snacks can be found here, along with a refrigerated section for meals on-the-go. There is also a huge back room / cellar, with all the wine your li'l heart could desire. Now, let's list out all the good & bad of this new hot spot: // DRINK: 5/5 I'm a pistachio girly myself so I almost ordered Day on the Hill Latte, but the counter person recommended the Bodega Latte, so I had to get the house latte, flavored with vanilla and a streak of saffron spice ("what is saffron?" I asked. "Here... smell," they responded, opening the spice tin before my inhaling nostrils). Normally at a higher-brow spot like this, I wouldn't expect the latte to be great. But out it came, latte art and all, adorned with that signature sprinkle of red from the saffron. And WHOA was I hit with the sweetness of vanilla; the spice from the saffron, and the strength of the coffee. This was a pleasurable drink, I'm so glad I got it. // AMBIANCE: 10/5 I wish every café in San Diego came like this: with an array of items, to order or ready-made, for any diet (I am gluten free and often dairy free, so having options is essential to me) -- but most importantly, with spaciousness and beauty to inspire my computer work, or a good read. The upfront area with the counter and table tops reminds me of a café I might walk in in New York, possibly due to the cherry wood and marble decor with high ceilings, industrial notes, and vast windows. Walk a bit further and you find yourself in an above-ground wine cellar. Now, I believe this place was especially made for its wine, and the staff makes me believe that! Seated outside, I heard one of the staff conducting a tasting with a couple who'd just moved into the neighborhood. He was highly engaged and engaging; truly knew his pours. I appreciate passion like that. Now, the back is truly worthy of awe; it's like I've escaped San Diego for a bit and was whisked away to a chateau in Italy, or France. The grassy courtyard; the tall building framing the courtyard; the sun peeking behind the walls to light your table, read, or meet-up. There are different types of seating for whatever floats your boat: two-seater tables; cushy low couch seats; tables for small groups and of course, the long communal one. I would spend all my days here, if not for parking (more below) // STAFF: 5/5 It's hard to find good service these days, so when it's good, it's great. Heavenly Bodega's staff was certainly kind, welcoming, and helpful. I heard them talk to neighbors who'd stumbled in to find out more about it; with me, they were so helpful in their recommendations, directing me around the menu. And not to mention, the wine taster guy I mentioned above; we love a passionate employee! (or owner? Not sure.) // THE ONLY BAD: PARKING So... it's no secret that San Diego is becoming the City of Parking Meters which, as a native, I despise! Banker's Hill is one of the worst-hit areas for this, being so close to Balboa Park (another great area they've metered). I don't exactly remember how much parking is, but I believe I paid near $1.25 or so each hour, which racks up quickly when you want to stay, work, and enjoy the ambiance. I'm not sure if there is unmetered parking nearby. For convenience sake, expect to pay for it. The inner neighborhood of Banker's Hill is usually booked up; I had luck parking along the main street that runs parallel to Balboa Park. // IN SUM I look forward to visiting this place with a gal pal or two, to catch up over wine, snacks, or another epic latte in the courtyard or -- if it's cold -- by the enormous windows up front. In fact, it is THE place I keep recommending to have catch-ups or workdays with my friends because it really just checks all the boxes. Thank you to the owners for opening up such a warm, gorgeous place in our city!

Heavenly Bodega is a new spot in Bankers Hill and it's so cute! They have a little shop inside and then a pastry counter and full kitchen as well. I just opted to get a latte and I went with their saffron vanilla flavor which was pretty good. They had a very large outdoor patio that was pretty well shaded too. I went on a Sunday around noon and it was definitely packed, but my friend and I were able to snag a table. It was a great spot to get some work done or catch up with a friend.

Recently explored this local favorite. Love their selection of pastries, especially the monkey bread. Pairs great with morning coffee. Their sunrise latte was delicious! Also, if you are up for a strong brew, they offer Turkish coffee here. Staff was patient and friendly with providing recommendations and pairings. I also picked up a lox sandwich. I asked for an everything bagel version and they were happy to make the adjustment. My friends and I sampled it and love the flavor. Inside has a small market to browse around while you wait for your order. There's also an outside sitting area to enjoy your bites and sips with friends. Might be crowded but people move about pretty quick. Overall, love this morning spot. Can't wait to visit them again and try other offerings. Great job team!

I've been here twice. Once for breakfast and then a late lunch on another day. I had the granola bowl, halloumi toast, brown butter bread, hot Americano coffee and their housemade sangria. The food had a farm to table freshness to it and overall I enjoyed the bowl and toast. The brown butter pastry was excellent. It was not too sweet. The coffee was strong and not bitter. The sangria was awful - watered down with little flavor. It was wasteful at $14 a glass. Indoor seating is limited with four tables and a high counter by the windows. In the early afternoon, sitting by the windows was a bit uncomfortable because of the sun. There were no window shades and the glare was bright. There was outdoor seating, but it was also cold and there were no heaters. Service was friendly and welcoming. I would return to order coffee and pastries to go.

New coffee shop on Fifth and its menu does not disappoint! Came here to work a bit and ordered myself the "a day on the hill" latte- aka a pistachio latte 10/10. I have yet to try their food menu but there's a variety of options. I peeped someone's breakfast sandwich and that is at the top of my taste list! There's also a market in the coffee shop too. This is located in Banker's Hill so be prepared to pay for parking and/or walk some blocks. There is a parking garage that offers pay to park. Ambiance is 10/10. Not crowded during the mornings.

Great cafe for a casual relaxed classy little breakfast and coffee. Lovely chill vibe here, I loved it so much and will come again. The only con is I think they forgot to take off the top of my hard boiled egg and it was hot as heck. The toast was yummy and I loved the honey butter with pistachio on the breakfast plate. Espresso drinks were also yummy. It's a little on the pricier side, but we were both full and satisfied with our breakfast and coffee. Patio is dog friendly! Can't wait to come for lunch. They also sell wine, ceramics, artisanal snacks and drinks and more. Great place to get a gift for your friend who has everything.

BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO SD Absolutely loved Heavenly Bodega. Such a beautiful spot with amazing vibes, the most kind staff and everything tasted incredibly fresh. We got the croissants, fresh pastries, coffee, lattes, pizza, and açai bowl and every single thing was delicious. 10/10!! You can really tell they care about quality and presentation. The atmosphere was cozy, elevated, and welcoming, making it the perfect place to grab coffee, food, or just hang out. ALSO loved that it's more than just a cafe the market section with wine and specialty items made it feel so unique. Such a cute concept and definitely the kind of place you can spend time browsing around in. Definitely one of my favorite spots in San Diego already

    Mushroom Latte + Almond Croissant

Heavenly Bodega on Fifth Street in Banker's Hill opened a few weeks ago. Limited street metered parking is a challenge. I'm in this area often, a number of fitness studios I go are walking distance and the french restaurant I dine often is across the street. So I've seen the inception of Heavenly Bodega from the ground up and I am so glad it finally opened. This shop offers coffee, tea, bakery, soup, salads, sandwiches, flatbread and sells kitchen must haves as well as wines and liquors. The space includes outdoor seating which it share next to the church next door. The interior space has seating in case you want to enjoy your drink and catch up on emails. The baked goods are in sourced from Knead Bakery in downtown San Diego, who bakes some of the best almond croissants, which are so buttery and crispy flakey goodness. So far, I've tried the Mushroom Latte and the Bodega Latte. The mushroom latte is really for those who want a healthier drink without caffeine...it was too bland and NOT for me. One of the owners 'Chehadeh' my apologies for misspelling his name personally prepared and presented the Bodega Latte, such amazing coffee. Both Che and the other owner Daniel were very cordial and gracious, introduced themselves. The Bodega Latte is the signature coffee drink made with espresso, vanilla, saffron and after the first few sips I was amazed with wonder, this drink was truly heavenly and made a memorable positive first impression! Worthy of a visit, Recommend

So excited about this place!! From the moment you walk in, the storefront is stunning - beautifully curated, unique, and filled with organic, high-end products you actually want to browse. And the wine selection is massive and gorgeous, the kind of lineup that makes you want to linger and discover something new. The coffee was delicious, but what really sent me was the presentation - I'm absolutely obsessed with the handmade ceramics everything is served in. It adds such a thoughtful, elevated touch and makes the whole experience feel special. The food was incredibly fresh and light, and honestly felt like we were having breakfast at a cozy European café. Simple, intentional, and done really well - the kind of place you immediately want to make part of your routine. This spot feels like such a gem for San Diego. Can't wait to come back, bring friends, and spend way too much time browsing the shelves after coffee

This time around, it was just the 3 of us, to chat over some wine and apps. Had their April featured Pinot, which was amazing (had 2 glasses). It's good to keep in mind that they only sell their flatbreads on certain days and unfortunately, they didn't serve it when we went. First, I still really enjoy the Carruth Wine Garden. It is nice to have an outdoor space to drink wine right in the center of the city. In general there plenty of parking ,and it is dog friendly. As far as the wine, it is very good. I like some more than others. More recently, I have enjoyed the Unicorn Red Blend ( a longtime favorite) and the Syrah. I love that it is dog friendly, inside and out. My dog loves going there and she makes friends each time. A change that they made recently is that the main garden area is now child-free, which was a positive change in my options, as it had gotten a bit chaotic in the past with children not being very well supervised. The still have a family-friendly outdoor space. In the past, there was always live music when I came. I was there most recently on a Saturday evening and was disappointed that there was no music. Also, the prices have gone up ($18 per glass). Unfortunately, I found the pours to be somewhat inadequate, though it depended which staff member was pouring the wine. They do not allow for outside food, and only make certain dishes certain days of the week, which unfortunately doesn't allow for many options if you are hungry. Water is readily available inside and outside. All in all, it is a lovely place with good wine to come with friends and your 4-legged friends. It has gotten a bit pricey, and I do wish we could bring out own snacks, but I still enjoy going and am sure that I will be back.

So I turned around and stopped in. What I found was a quaint, tucked-away, almost inconspicuous spot delivering food and hospitality at a level that honestly borders on absurd for how unassuming it appears from the outside. The service was warm, polished, and intuitive without ever feeling pretentious. Hats off to both chefs, Christi and Mark for making me feel welcome. The wine pairings? Thoughtful, balanced, and exactly what you hope for from a restaurant that actually respects food. And then there's the burger. This thing reads like poetry: Ribeye and NY strip trim blend, cooked like a proper steak (medium rare, the only correct answer here), melted gouda, a soft house potato roll, all resting in a luxurious bordelaise sauce that would make a French chef nod in approval. Seriously. This is not a "burger joint burger." This is a chef-driven, butcher-minded expression of beef. Every bite tastes intentional. The bordelaise underneath ties the entire thing together with this deep, glossy richness that elevates it from comfort food into something bordering on fine dining.
