Long post ahead but worth the read: I discovered a leak in my trailer and didnt know exactly where it was coming from. I was pretty sure it was the refrigerator vent but I didn't know anything was wrong until it traveled to the floor and my floor was soggy when you stepped in front of the refrigerator. I was quoted locally that the repairs would cost around 15k to fix-parts and labor. My insurance wouldn't cover it, Lakota said they could do it if insurance wouldn't cover it, but all expenses would be out of pocket. I bought the trailer brand new in 2020 and had only used it 7 times-and two were this fall. I am a first time LQ owner and I was devastated at the lack of support I felt I was getting from everyone. I reached back out to Michael Shaffer at Dixie Horse and Mule in Newton, Alabama where I bought it. I explained as best I could what was going on and he told me if I could get it to him that he would make it right and fix it for me. My father and I drove 15 hours each way and let me tell you it was THE BEST decision ever! Michael and his guys not only found the issue(s) but had to gut the entire back end of my trailer and replace the floor, replace the boards on the side and in the refrigerator vent and use silicone to angle the inside so if water got in, it wouldn't go back to the plywood but instead roll back out the vent. There was a nut that came loose under the shower so every time it was turned on it was draining right on my floor, including winterizing, and the seal on the refrigerator vent on the roof was not done properly and so it was also leaking down the wall behind the refrigerator. So every time it rained when I used it or in summer and fall when it was out of the storage facility I keep in, water was leaking in the trailer. Scott, Will, and Jason worked for 3 days to get my trailer back to brand new AND then took the time to go over pretty much everything, inside and out for any other issues I didn't see or know about yet. They removed and resealed around vents that were wearing, around windows, fixed a spot coming loose on the awning, greased the slide out, replaced the propane detector as it had just expired, and even greased the hinges on the back stall doors so no more loud squeaking. When I came to check on the progress they stopped what they were doing and went over what happened and what was needed to fix it all. I was able to ask questions and get honest and genuine support without judging or anything. I learned SO much and even took notes on my phone. They winterized it, and even checked the air in my tires before sending me on my way home to Missouri. I will never buy another trailer from anywhere else and I highly recommend talking to Michael if you need repairs on your Lakota. He has worked with them for over 25 years and knows them inside and out, when things changed or got modified and on what year and model. I was HIGHLY IMPRESSED. You might say well 15 hours is a lot...well all I can say is it was MORE than worth it from the customer service I received, the care, hospitality, and especially in my final cost. I could probably turn it into my insurabxe company, but based on my final cost, it would be more expensive. I am now one happy horse trailer owner and a forever customer because of Michael and the people at Dixie. Even if you didn't buy from them, their service department is exceptional if you need anything. read more

Purchase was ok. Not good for purchasing a new Trailer. Service was a joke. Brand new 44 foot trailer that had not been cleaned or washed. Then service manager gave us $100. Cost us $450 to have it cleaned. After we pointed that out he disappeared and no one walked us through how to use trailer. So there is that. Less than 3 months later the Fiberglass clip blew off the front of the trailer. I have sent text to salesman and called in and left message 3 Days ago without a call text or Email. Strongly suggest buying one somewhere else unless you get 1 heck of a deal. read more

We purchased a used trailer over a year ago from DHMCO. We recently had an issue with a single worn tire. A different shop said it was a suspected a bent axle. We called the DHMCO service manager to see what they could do for us to inspect and repair it. Please keep in mind this was sold "as is - no warranty". Dixie Horse and Mule Co. said bring it by and they'll repair it at cost! Wow! They measured it, checked it found it to be within tolerances. It was probably just a single bad tire (all four tires were changed prior to bringing to them). They also performed other maintenance at no charge to us. From our experience with them, this was a very good, above and beyond customer service. We will be doing business with them again in the future. Thanks to all at DHMCO! read more

My husband and I went in to look at two new horse trailers. We found a used trailer we loved, so went in to talk to the salesman about them. When we asked about the possibility of a lower price, the salesman said a price for taking it today, as it without running it through their shop. We asked if they would take $200 less than that price. The salesman said he would call the owner to ask. He called and asked the owner what the best price was that he would give us. The owner said he would take $50 off the price listed and that was all. This was about $500 MORE than the salesman had told us. As soon as he hung up, the salesman said "you should have taken my offer, it was better," and the offer was off the table. With that attitude and taking back an offer, we decided we did not want to deal with this company. We were in the office less than 10 minutes. The owner obviously has more important sales to attend to than working with trailers less than $10,000. When my phone popped up a message as we were leaving that asked if I wanted to leave a review, I posted this story. The owner came back and tried to change the story, saying we turned down the salesman's offer, otherwise the trailer would be ours right now. He tried to say there was a misunderstanding about the price, then when I said I would share his posts to me with my friends and horse club members, he went on about how he has so many employees and their families and why would I try to hurt them. Really?? Bad business practices are shared and honoring what your company says is how you get good feedback instead. With the owner's responses to me--now I will really go out of my way to share my experience. If he had a price and stuck to it, that is for us to accept or say thank you and move on. Renigging on a price and then treating customers like this, that is how you lose business. read more

This review deserves no stars!! Sold us a truck and were deceptive with the odometer reading. They bought it back and we traded it for another truck. They said they would deliver it and as soon as we signed the papers they said now we won't deliver it. We had to take a week off work and drive to Alabama to pick it up.
