My husband and I went there last Saturday afternoon to watch the Georgia Game. When we walked in there was nobody sitting at the bar. 3 employees were at the bar playing UNO. When we walked in the girl that served us looked mad because she had customers. She came over to us and had a horrible attitude. She took our drink order and took as long as possible getting us our drinks. She checked on us once but had an attitude the whole time. We had planned on eating there and watching the whole Georgia game but we ended up leaving after we finished our drink. The service was HORRIBLE I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Been here a couple times to see bands play and have dinner. First time I went, the band was so popular it was elbow-to-elbow inside and I couldn't even get to the bar. Band was great, but couldn't even order a drink. Second time I went a little earlier and was able to get a seat at the bar. Service was great and the caesar chicken wrap was really good. Bands were really good. Third time went for a band and dinner with a friend. Around 10:30 we were able to get the last table by the pool tables behind the stage. We figured we could at least eat at the table then go around the front of the stage and dance after. We had to ask a bartender 3 times to send a server to the table and the bartender was about to come out until a server finally showed up. The server seemed out of it and we weren't sure if she was high or drunk. She took our orders. I ordered a philly with steak, no peppers. My friend ordered a philly with chicken, no peppers. We also asked for an order of fried pickles. The food took awhile, and was finally dropped at the table as the waitress ran off. There were no fried pickles brought to the table, we figured maybe she went back to get them. My friend thought her Philly chicken tasted funny and it was actually a ham & cheese poboy. She went ahead and ate it because we didn't want to wait since it was so late. Both sandwiches were just ok. The pickles never came and we never saw the waitress again. We moved around to be closer to the front of the stage for awhile, keeping a watch for the waitress. Never saw her again. More people sat at our old table and a different server attended to them. Finally went to the bar around 1 am to check on the tab. I'm assuming from the conversation that we weren't the only ones with issues and the server was probably no longer there. They apologized and gave a discount. Live music in the area is scarce. Sometimes a cover, sometimes not, check their FB events. This is a great venue. It is kinda dark and a little smokey. Just get there early if you want to eat and need a table or bar space. Food is hit or miss. Beer selection is good. Bar staff is awesome. read more

This is a fun place to go. It is VERY VERY loud. I could barely talk to the people sitting next to me at the bar. Great beer and drink selection, and reasonably priced. Both times I've been there it was country music, which isn't really my bag. The people that work there are nice enough though. The bartender did give me a hard time when I requested a shot of "the cheapest crappiest tequila you've got" though (I had a really long day and needed something to kick me in the head). Crowd is very diverse. Lots of fun. Definitely the best bar I've found so far in the Windy Hill/Cobb Pkway vicinity. read more

I've gone here plenty of times; my roommate may as well start picking up his mail there. Live music nightly, good specials.. (Half price food Thursdays IIRC). Never had a bad waitress there, everyone's friendly and it's a great bar. I will say that it's distinctly two bars, though. Before the music starts at night, it's a quiet place. Once the music fires up, it gets loud and sometimes crowded. I kind of like the effect.. no need to bar hop, when the bar hops for you. The food is good... most of my guilty pleasures are here. If you want something fried, it's probably on the menu. If it's not, then ask and they'll probably come up with a solution for you. Several great Cajun entrees. I'll see you there! read more

Originally an offshoot of the Buckhead location, this Marietta location is all that remains. This is truly a great place to see local bands, drink cold beer, and mingle with the college and recently out of college OTP set. I can't get too crazy here, as it ain't a cheap cab ride from Marietta back to civilzation. read more

Live music, wood tables the smell of beer. Lonely singer on a dimly lit stage... The crawfish cheese dip hints on Louisiana and the guitar plays on. I totally recommend this dive. Love this place. Wednesday night is trivia at 7pm and all food is half off with purchase of a beverage! We went with a group of people (6) and had a few pitchers of beer, each had food and our tab was only $67 for the table. I had the black and blue burger with veggies. Veggies tasted an looked like they cut them that morning, nice and fresh. The burger was cooked to order and very well seasoned. Chelsea was our server and was attentive, polite, and brought out all our food/drinks in a timely manner always with a smile. We definitely will be back for trivia next week. read more

I recently moved to the area and had a friend visiting. After I picked her up from the airport we swung by Dixie Tavern on a Thursday to grab a quick drink. There's seating outside but we went inside and it's definitely more of a country bar than anything else. We were pretty much the only women in that place, there were a lot of middle aged men there which was a little creepy. The waitresses were really nice and there was live music--a country band. There are several pool tables and maybe darts? I think I saw a dart board... I can't vouch for the food, but this wouldn't be a bad place to hang out and shoot some pool and have a few beers on a low key night when you don't feel like taking a cab all the way downtown. My only real complaint is that you can smoke inside. Gross. read more

Have only been once, and it was during the day (Friday mid-afternoon beer with co-workers). If you close your eyes and just listen and breathe, you would swear you are in a B-Level strip club from 1987. The bartender is wearing so much of that floral body spray that you can smell her over the beer, smoke and bathroom. Tesla, Cinderalla etc... are blaring on the sound system. Although the sun is shining outside, it is very dark inside. See, I told ya - strip club. Anyway, the beer selection is pretty typical but not necessarily lacking - and all of the tough guy biker types were perfectly nice to me and my group of clean cut office worker buds - so 3 stars seems about right. read more

I made a mistake coming to try out this place, and that's only because I found out RuSans closed next door. I needed a quick bite to eat that was walking distance, since I was waiting for my car to get serviced across the street. I walked in and it was empty, and I can see why. After looking at that menu, I figured I try the chicken fingers and tater tots. A few of the chicken tenders seemed a bit undercooked and hard, even though they were hot from frying. After having those and deciding not to finish, when I lifted one of the pieces, there was hair on the plate. At that point, I didn't finish and wanted to puke in my mouth. I told the server what I found and she didn't even bother to ask if I wanted to get it replaced or if she could do anything to rectify the situation. I asked for the check, ended up paying and walked right out. I WILL NEVER GO BACK! read more

I hadn't been to Dixie Tavern in years and I'm pleased to say that some things never change. A friend and I stopped in after work and the place was pretty quiet but it was pretty early and a Tuesday. The service was very good and while the food was typical bar grub, it was pretty tasty. Besides, I can rarely find fault with a place that serves tater tots. Now that it's back on my radar, I'll have to go back so that I can hear some live music. They used to have some pretty cool bands and I'm sure, much like everything else, that hasn't changed. read more

I like this place. Ok the waitresses have been cute as hell for years. They do a good job of finding good looking young ladies that are not just friendly but that can also take your order and bring it to you without dragging their butts. The food is decent bar food. Bugers and tots with a few decent apps. Nothing special. They have about twelve beers on tap and two dollar pints of the cheap stuff. This is a darn good place to see a band also. I will tell you this though do not try and have a conversation while the band is playing it is far to loud. Went and saw the Psycho Devilles the other night and it was great. This place is so far off the beaten path, located in a small shopping plaza, you'd never know it was worth going to! They have live music every night of the week. Week nights is usually a guy and his guitar, while weekends are a full band. Music ranges from country to 80s and is apparently where Zac Brown was discovered! Attire is very casual, I like to wear my cowboy boots! Crowd ranges from ALL ages and is fun for all, I'd bring my parents with me! read more

Great Cajun style food. Has a real southern atmosphere and their draft beer selection is diverse. The entertainment during the week and weekend is awesome. I recommend eating a bowl of their Gumbo which is amazing and enjoying the evening with some beer and live entertainment on the weekend. read more

Went to hear one of our favorite bands last night. First time at DT and had a pretty good time. Sound was awesome. Didn't have any food so can't review that but the beer was $4.50 for bottled domestic - then only paid $5 for a margarita (?).....Bartenders drink and smoke and stay on the phones (yes, all four of them.) I was sitting near the bar when I heard one female scolding one of her co-workers. I agree that sometimes employees do or say things that warrant a lecture and/or disciplinary action, but what I don't agree with is the fact that the female doing the scolding seemed to be drunk and slurring her words throughout the process while the man behind the bar was laughing at the situation. That seems very unprofessional in my opinion. I've seen other instances a few other times as well, but never thought much of it until I saw the above incident. However it's a college bar atmosphere, frequented by tons of young kids just barely able to drink which yields a lot of thuggish mentality. Everyone seems 'hard' and looking to start something. Pretty stupid to deal with when you're just looking to drink so it's better to try out for lunch or an early weeknight before 8PM. read more

I've been going here for almost 10 years. I still remember watching Zac Brown performing here when he was a solo act. Zac has moved on but other truly talented artists have graced the stage and really bring this place to life. The beers on tap are always updated and the food fantastic! Upon arriving in Atlanta for some corporate training, my classmates and I were feeling hungry. And upon much deliberation we decided to go to the Dixie Tavern... primarily for its close proximity to the hotel. Upon arrival, the place was totally dead. And (I have to say) being a nonsmoker, the inside was intolerable. I have nothing against smoking, but smelling it while I eat is not the most appetizing thing in the world. So we all got an outside table and sat down to eat. Much to the fellas delight we had an attractive, friendly and (may I add) busty waitress. She brought out our drinks quickly and suggested food from the menu. I ordered the shrimp po'boy blackened. It was ok. I mean, that's really all I can say about it. It was ok. The tater tots however, were AWESOME! Really nice and crispy! So all in all, the whole place is ok. Okay, so look at my past reviews and you will find I never give 5 stars. But this place is actually 5 because of several factors. Food is above average from bar food, actually good. Environment is sort of classic dive which works very very well. And finally service, They usually have two waitresses working lunch. Those young ladies are amazing. Personable, great conversationalist and love to laugh with the customers all while providing what I would classify as superior service to the customers. Couple all the above with their great special pricings on some days of the week and well it adds up to 5 count them 5 Stars. read more
