Absolutely Horrified -- My Dog Left Bleeding and Needing Stitches! I took my poodle to Dixie's Pet Spa, and it turned into one of the worst experiences I've ever had as a pet owner. My dog went in for grooming -- yes, he had some matting -- but he came out cut open so badly that he needed stitches at the vet. When I confronted the staff, the owner was unbelievably rude and dismissive, showing zero compassion or accountability. Instead of apologizing or showing concern, she hid behind a "matted dog release form" and spoke to me as if it was my fault for trusting them with my pet. Let me be clear -- I know what normal grooming risks are. This was not a small nick or scratch. The vet confirmed this was a deep laceration caused by negligence, not a routine accident. What makes it worse is the complete lack of empathy. No pet owner should be treated like a nuisance when their animal is hurt under someone else's care. I don't even know where to start! We've taken our sweet dog to Dixie's since the beginning, so about 11 years now. Our groomer has been fabulous with our girl and always done an incredible job on her. About a year ago our girl got very, very sick at Dixie's when we walked in the door! They were amazing, helping me with her, and eventually carrying her to the car (she couldn't walk) so that I could rush her to the vet. After that vet visit and subsequent testing we (the vet) determined our girl's illness was anxiety induced. Hubs and I decided we would try to groom her ourselves. I talked to Dixie's and they were amazing, but we all agreed for a while that was our best course of action. Fast forward a year and Hubs and I did the best we could. Overtime her hair was long in places I didn't know how to reach or clip! I finally called our gal at Dixie's and we came up with a plan to try to get our dog cleaned up! Oh. My. Word!!!! Our groomer was incredible and our girl was SOOOOOO happy to see her! The groomer took us in a different door, and while all the other dogs (the best part of Dixie's is the social time with other dogs) were being bathed, our baby girl was groomed to perfection!!!! Really good! I I am so happy I found this place. I had been taking my older dog to Won of the pet stores in the area and he's been getting increasingly anxious about haircut so much that he had a nosebleed and they had to stop. So I switched people at the same salon and she remarked that he had not handled my dog well which was really upsetting. However, she was also having difficulties getting a decent cut on him and recommended he come in only at the earliest slot possible, but also wanted to charge me $20 extra for early service. I decided I wanted to start fresh and go to an entirely different place. That's how I found Dixies. On the phone she was very reassuring with me when I explained the experiences he had had recently. My boyfriend actually dropped him off, but she called me and told me the plan with him even before the haircut started. She really put me at ease and communicated with me after the haircut as well and let me know what time he would be done. They did a great job on the cut. She did not nick him like the prior place and I was very happy with the cut. The price was competitive for the area and well worth every cent. I'm so thankful to have found a place. I can trust to bring my fur baby! FYI, if you plan on coming, just make sure your dog is up to date on vaccinations, including rabies, pertussis, Bordetella, etc. If you live in this area, and even if you don't, it's well worth a drive to know that your dog is in good hands. I moved to the area from the city and had to leave behind my trusted cageless groomer in midtown, and was having trouble finding a new groomer that doesn't keep my furbaby locked in a cage all day waiting to be groomed and/or picked up. We were surprised after being told how wonderful this place was. Even initial walk in with appt., we both noted zero enthusiasm and instant what do you want attitude. We knew our puppy had knots and matting and expected a close cut, it once we said we did not want to "see skin" things changed and we were told they could not even bathe her without first removing matting. We just wanted no skin showing, we get a short cut and we agreed to get done what needed to be done, and we left. Expecting as they stated a short cut to remove matting we were shocked to see the puppy we came in with! They bathed her with her matting and trimmed face a bit and nails and cleaned ears and that was it! Still matted!!! Really? We told you we agreed with your decision and you did nothing for $45 and my wife actually gave a tip! I have never had this poor of a cut or NONEXISTENT CUT! I look forward to the reply as you know good and well you let us down! Never again. My daughters 5 pooches are now going elsewhere too. Beware! read more

We opted for the pet full service bath since she was already super short hair, they didn't cut nails and they were still dirty underneath. She was still damp and not brushed picking her up 30 minutes after they called. First time bringing my yorkie here and I'm definitely coming back and will only come here from now on. They did an amazing job with his haircut and the place itself seems like they genuinely love animals. Other groomers I've been to are cold and unwelcoming. Here, all of the dogs are out and play with each other instead of being locked in a cage all day. They really took their time on my dog and literally every spot on him is perfectly cut and groomed. He also seemed so happy when he was finished, unlike other places where he seemed to be scared when I picked him up. I really only trust this groomer from now on and no one else. This is also the only groomer I've been to in the area that actually seem to know what they are doing, and don't just chop off all of your dogs hair like other places. I took my dog here after checking out the reviews. I am Extremely upset that my dog was Injured here. My dog has very sensitive skin and was severely cut on his leg.No one called me to let me know what had happened to my dog.I called because it had been 3 hours that he was at the groomers.When I pick him up I saw that they used a glue to close up the wound. I started crying when I saw my dog and the owner told me that they would pay for the vet bills but still charge me $55 for his grooming. Three days later I had to take my dog to the vet because the wound started opening up. My dog is now on two antibiotics pain medicine and wearing a cone. No one from this supposedly five star best of Forsyth groomer has even called to follow up on my dog.This has been very Trumatic for my dog and for my family I will never take my dog back to Dixie's nor recommend this place to anyone. read more

I've been going to Dixie's Pet Spa for years even after I moved 30 min away. Lisa the owner is so nice and responsive, knows who I am and my dogs very well even though I only go a few times a year. I have mini Dachshunds with short hair who don't need baths too often but she and her groomers always take care of them and do a great job. They Dremel their nails, do anal sacs wash them and let them socialize and walk around and make new friends. Doesn't take very long and I pay with Venmo and it's super easy! My dog came home looking and smelling great! Best nail trim ever! (Her nails were short and rounded. No rough edges and it lasted a long time!) My dog is nervous of the the high standing baths and the blow dryer so I was a little worried about leaving her alone at a new groomer. But, she actually enjoyed her time at Dixie's! She was allowed to walk around and interact with other friendly dogs, which made this better than a grooming visit. She enjoyed it like doggy day care. The groomers are friendly and helpful. This was such a great find! I took our 3 year old dog in for a wash & nail clip. She was a little nervous at first but warmed up real fast when the friendly workers came over. When I picked her up, I could tell Evy was happy because she was bouncing around saying bye to all the workers. The dogs are not caged - which is what originally sold me. Our dog does not get put in a cage at home so I wouldn't want her to be crated when getting groomed either. We will be back! read more

Dixie's pet spa is a very unclean facility, the dog bathing stations have mold and mildew growing in the tubs and all around the lining of the floors, the tables are pressed up against walls that have been stained brown by the unclean water (from not fully cleaned dogs) blown off the dogs, they would open the back door for air flow and then use a double wide crate to block any dogs escaping which also means if there is a fire (read later that it's a strong possibility) that we have less chance to get all the dogs out safely, and has a ceiling vent hanging by a single corner just waiting to fall on a dog or bather. The "open play" area is only maintained once a day and if a dog pees they just throw a wet towel they used to dry a dog then carry on without using any cleaners, so if a dog who was fully bathed and dried they could still potentially go home smelling like urine. The laundry room is another room filled with mold, the washing machine has a combination smell of mildew and urine, the towels that are waiting to be dried sit on top of the dryer against a mold stained wall, and when they came out to fix our dryer the vents were so full and caked with hair that the repair men said it was a miracle it hadn't already started a very serious fire. The groomers are very good at being fake, they like very few dogs that come in, and the second a dog barks or annoys them a little too much they grab them and put them in a crate in a dark tiny employee bathroom with up to 4 dogs in the different crates, they smile with the customers around and cuss at the dogs when they're not. The owner cares more about money than what the business is actually about, I've been told directly by her that I'm being "too thorough" with the baths I was doing, that I don't need to brush them out that much, and gave me "tips" on bathing which when I watched her a portion of the dog didn't get touched with soap so I went back and finished it before drying the dog. This review is a mixture of two former employees experiences at Dixie's, we just hope that we help people both find the truth about Dixie's behind the scenes and encourage them to find a groomer who will take better care of their fur babies. read more

We recently adopted our first long haired dog so we had to find a groomer asap! She's a mutt so we really didn't know who's she was supposed to be clipped, just knew we didn't want to be able to give her a Mohawk from head to tail. SHE CAME OUT LOOKING INCREDIBLE! With the vaguest instructions, they made our vision happen. The customer service was great. I felt very good about leaving her there in her care. Also, it's a big selling point that they don't put the dogs in kennels when they are done. Even though we live close, I would never want her to sit in a metal cage again thinking she's back in the shelter. All around great experience and will be back! read more

I am very disappointed by this place, and I even gave them a second chance. The first grooming my dogs face came back crooked, two of her nails were split in half some how, and she had a rash on her stomach! The second time I couldn't even get her in there due to "miscommunication" or at least those are they words they used. I scheduled a full groom and talked to the lady about all the details and everything. She said she wasn't at the shop so she couldn't get all my information. Well apparently she didn't get any info because my dogs name was spelled wrong and they only had her down for a bath and they wouldn't fit her in. Dixie's pet spa you have no idea how much time of mine you wasted, and how my dog was given extra anxiety medicine for no reason at all. How I washed all her bedding the night before just for an ungroomed dog to dirty it up again. How I was going on vacation and needed her groomed before then and now everywhere is is booked on such short notice. How I had to cancel my appointment I had for myself while she was supposed to be being groomed. Then for my old dog with anxiety you tried to schedule me with someone who is brand new and just started grooming?? I should have never come back after the issues my dog had the first time.
