My husband and I have been shopping here at this location for 6 years now and we wouldn't have it any other way! The staff has always been incredibly friendly, and over the years we have come here for puppy training and dog grooming. The grooming center really deserves a special shoutout because they always go above and beyond for our Siberian Husky who requires extra attention and effort for her insanely thick and multi-layered coat. I wouldn't trust most people with my fur baby, but ever since the first visit went perfectly, we never looked elsewhere for grooming services and service has stayed consistently amazing over the years. We also love their selection of dog toys and always have great sales on stuffed toys in the big bins by the checkout line. We have our husky on Orijen dog food (senior blend), and you definitely can't find that at all pet stores/grocery stores but I can always count on this location for having it in stock. read more

I stopped by your store at 2345 Market Place Blvd (Cumming, GA 30041), today, and was surprised and saddened to see the state of the store and the animals. It became apparent very quickly that this store needs some much needed attention - mainly help with cleanliness and animal care. When my son and I walked in, we immediately noticed a strong urine smell that permeated the entire store. We then walked around to look at some of the animals and were appalled at the unhealthy state of a lot of them. The chameleons had so much stuck shed on them, likely due to their poor living conditions (improper humidity, temperature, diet or lighting). Some of the leopard geckos had skinny tails - a true sign that they are malnourished. The mice had feces all over their enclosures. These examples are just a few of the very obvious red flags we immediately noticed. We left without buying anything, although we came for dog treats and leopard gecko accessories/ food. I am not writing this to complain, but to express concern for the animals. read more

I LOVE this Petco! I drive 5 miles out of my way to get to this one. The store is always neat and clean and fully stocked. The employees are so nice and knowledgeable. We go in for fish supplies, and my son ALWAYS asks about the reptiles. Graham is always super helpful and patient with myself and my son (and all of our questions, because there are always a ton.) This Petco is fantastic! I had a day filled with shopping and getting some items to finish my new saltwater tank! The customer service is top notch and the fishies are beautiful and healthy! I have multiple freshwater fish tanks, but I've always wanted a saltwater tank. Graham in aquatics did a great job accommodating me with such a friendly attitude. He was very passionate about his fish and super informative. I came in with hundreds of questions, which were all answered and left satisfied and excited with a brand new setup. I hadn't even considered corals for my tank either until I saw the selection Cumming Petco had... lots of different kinds, and different colors and very cheaply priced coral compared to several local fish stores I've seen, and they looked just as healthy! I first would like to start by saying that this Petco is my number one choice, for pet supplies, in the Cumming area! I have dogs, cats, fresh water fish, marine fish, and several corals! The staff here have always been very welcoming and knowledgeable. I have also had numerous encounters with the manager. She has always been enthusiastic and taken the time to assist me when asked. I know from experience that it takes a special kind of person to work in retail and do it well. However, the Cumming Petco exceeds all expectations. This brings me to the second reason for leaving this review. I understand every person's experience is different and not all customer's feel that they have/have not received the best customer experience. However, I find it absolutely appalling to read a review in which the customer has posted a picture, that they clearly found on Google, in order to make their allegations believable. I also don't understand the purpose of salary shaming an employee. There is no purpose other than to make someone feel bigger when clearly they are disgruntled and desperate. A large petco with plenty to choose from, but they never have more than 2-3 employees working on the floor at a time. The past couple of times I've visited to buy fish, none of the employees working had any knowledge of their saltwater supplies or fish. When I purchased some crabs and anemones, the employee who I finally found in the back of the store didn't know how to get them out of the tank and bag it correctly, so it died before I got home. Bottom line? Don't go to this location for fish and expect to wait for help. read more

As a new owner of a 10 week old kitten I had first visited Petsmart last week when we brought our kitty home. I was surprised that the selection of cat items was less than desirable, and the prices of products seemed quite high. Dial forward a week, and I returned some items to Petsmart that were not needed (suggested by their manager), and I visited Petco. The sales associate in the cat area was very educated on everything from natural no-grain kitten food options to longer lasting, no dust litter. What a positive experience! read more

I always enjoy shopping at this location. The staff is definitely eager to help you find what you need, especially if you ask for help. I have animals of all kind, but I mostly shop in the fish section! There are several employees who are avid aquarium keepers so they are usually quick to give you advice and information on the fish you're interested in buying. They also are very understanding if one doesn't work out in your tank and generally take them back without any issue! This score should actually be a -100 stars. My dogs had an appointment today at 11am. My daughters took both dogs(Pekinese and Husky) in at 10:45. No one was there to help them. Only one cashier who was cashing out a line of people. They ran the bell in the groomers area and still no one came. Finally, after the third bell, a lady-TANNA- came out very rudely and gave my daughters the nastiest attitude and the rudest demeanor. Made my youngest almost cry. Skip to SEVEN HOURS LATER. My daughters have been waiting to pick up the first two dogs and just dropped off my third on at 4pm. They have been waiting ever since for the two dogs. The two groomers on duty, Tanna and Meghan, keep giving them nasty looks and every time they ask if the dogs are done, they get an even ruder response. My husky is howling in the kennel area and is done, she doesn't like to be alone and isn't used to being in a crate for so long, I have called the groomers for multiple hours but no one picked up. I finally called the costumer service desk and a nice lady answered. She went to ask the groomers if my dogs were done and they told her that they are done, but my daughter texted me saying that they are still grooming the Pekinese. The Pekinese has been off and on the groomer's table multiple times for no reason. I'm frustrated, my daughters are frustrated, it's now almost 7 and they aren't done. After I called, my daughter said that Tanna's attitude changed drastically and that she gave them 25% off the service. Never coming back. It only takes my dogs 3-4 hours max at PetSmart. read more

As usual trying to buy some fish turned out to be impossible. There was a bunch of people waiting for help in the fish department but no one there to help. If, you plan to buy saltwater fish, please read. This place does not have a warranty at all for saltwater fish. I purchased a $40 yellow tang, and it was dead in less than 24 hours. My tank is perfect, and I have never lost a fish before. I have nice coral growth, and I took all the precautions to move the fish quickly and float it to get the temp correct. When I called them, all they had to say was they did not have any warranty on salt water fish. Do not risk your money here on expensive fish. Other local stores do guarantee their fish. I try to support the local fish store like this, and have bought lots of equipment, food and chemicals from them. I will not be back. read more

The absolute worse service I've experienced from a Petco grooming salon ever. I visited this particular store for the first time on 10/07/2018 for a grooming and I'm disgusted by the service I received or lack of, from Santana in the grooming salon. Santana had an attitude from the time I dropped my pup off until I picked him back up, 4 hours later and he hadn't even been groomed! I went back three separate times to be told that he wasn't ready yet and that she would call when he was. When I went back the final time he hadn't been groomed and she stated that my pup tried to bite her, but yet she didn't call me to tell me that. I've been using Petco for at least five years and have never been told that by any other groomer. I felt like she didn't want to groom him and I'm glad that she didn't, because a dog that she did do looked horrible! I WILL NOT ever return to this store again read more

Fish department is great and carries quality product with knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Customer service can be lacking, though. I had to go to the register to ask for assistance getting a fish. The employee then walked past me to help other customers while leaving me to continue to wait for another 10 minutes. read more

Lets be clear, the only reason I am giving this place one star is because of the other amazing employees that work there. Meghan and Keera are the sweetest. Otherwise (if it were possible) I would be giving it none. Why? Because of a manager there named Jason. He is absolutely rude and disrespectful to his customers. He has had multiple complaints to the corporate office and still has yet to be demoted or fired. I was a regular customer there but now I refuse to step foot in the place due to the treatment I received while trying to return a perfectly healthy pet (under the 30 day return date mind you.).
