I love this hardware store! I've been here a bunch of times over the past few years and I truly get excited to go because all the employees are super sweet and helpful. Their customer service is awesome- they go above and beyond. My family and I have had many DIY projects starting from remodeling a bathroom to making a simple trellis, but the staff is knowledgable and able to give you advice on how to tackle the project you want. My dad bought snake for plumbing since our pipes got clogged. Not even 2 min into using it , it broke. He went back to get a refund cause obviously it was a defective one. They said he couldnt return it and they didnt even give him the option of store credit. Pretty much said your stuck with it. Do-It-Center on Foothill improves on everything I hate about going to Home Depot/Lowe's/Walmart. Most importantly, there is always someone to help you, prices are competitive with the big box stores, and in many cases, even better on many items. I don't know what the previous reviewers are saying about blank stares. I've shopped here at least 50 times in the past year (we're remodeling our home) and and I have never had anything but excellent customer service from the staff. Ever try finding help at Home Depot? I can get in and out in less than 5 minutes. Parking is always plentiful, checkout lanes never have more than 2 people in them, and they have almost everything you would need for small to medium sized projects. They have a nice garden center as well. On another note, I recently witnessed the manager on duty (older gentleman with a moustache) handle an extremely irate customer who cut in line screaming and making racial comments about a staff member like a boss. The manager addressed the customer's issue, but also stood up for his employee (who did not nothing wrong, other than speak with a slight accent) and put the red-faced idiot in his place. Other people in line, including myself also stepped in to defend the staff & manager and shook his hand for handling an ugly situation like a champ. The Do-It Center as Maria touch on is like a condensed Home Depot but with people that are competent. They have just about everything you need for your DIY repairs at home and garden. They also have a nice variety of holiday fares. They don't have everything and sometimes their variety is not as vast as Home Depot but it gets the job done. read more

They are close which is a plus and I do prefer to do my business locally. That said, there are a few things I find annoying about them. It may sound trivial, but the biggie is that they always ask for ID if you pay with a credit card. First, that is illegal and against VISA (and most other CC companies policy) 2nd - the amount of times I've been in there, they should know me on a first name basis. Yet, always - ask for ID. It's insulting. 3rd - one of the old 'floor' guys there is really sullen. I have on several occasions, stood next to him and waited as he helps a customer and then, the little bugger tries to walk away or INTO me; as if he had no idea I was there waiting to ask something. I WILL say -- he knows where things are - but why does he act as if he has some place he needs to get to in a rush? I actually drove the extra couple miles to OSH yesterday because of him specifically. Do-it center lost a couple bucks because of him. read more

Swung by after lunch to pick up some supplies for the in-laws. Smaller local store with the basics of home repair, gardening etc. Works out if you're in the area and don't want to drive all the way to Home Depot or elsewhere. Didn't bother asking for too much help, so can't comment too much on the service. read more

Do-It is not the closest hardware store to my house, but they're so friendly and helpful that I go a little bit further to shop there. Yesterday I needed a window screen repaired and was pleasantly surprised that they charged only $5.99 for my screen whereas a screen company that recently came to my house charged $40 per screen. I dropped it off and figured I'd pick it up the next day. I was only halfway home when Jordan called telling me he was done and it was ready for pickup! read more

Even though I live in Burbank, I have always come to this Do It Center because I work at one of the elementary schools in this area and this one has always been way nicer than the Burbank store. These guys are cool not just because they have cats roaming the place, they ooze that "local hardware store" feel and have a bunch of helpful people that will take the time to talk with you. Also helps that the ladies are cute in the store and know their hardware. They are not as cheap as Home Despot, but they are local and convenient. That's worth a few bucks. Horrible... I just went to DIY Center to buy wood and I needed to cut notches into the wood since I dont have a jig. The person was extremly rude when I asked to get the wood cut and said that he wouldnt cut the wood although he was working at the saw. I was surprised because Ive gotten tons of wood cut here before and when I asked why, he said he wouldnt do it for me. No explaination or anything, that was just his answer and that he wouldn't. Maybe he was scarred to cut 3" notches into wood. But there are way nicer ways to say it, just be honest if you dont have the skills. Went to the front to complain that the guy refused to cut the wood and the lady at the register just shruged and pointed at someone else. Thats when I said forget it and told them I was never coming back. Went to osh down the street and they cut the notches no prob. Never again! read more

We really really like this store because if we are feeding hummingbirds, building a sculpture, matching a paint, buying new garden materials or fixing a broken something or other we come here. The staff seem really helpful no matter what department you are in. I have never, ever had the experience I have at cough cough depot cough, where I have to run like a track star to find the only person in the nearby 4 square miles to ask a question, and we find their prices are good. I unlike others am not willing to drive 4+ more miles to get to a cough cough depot cough just to save a few cents on an item. Seriously?? Don't you think about the gas and the time involved? Today we had to match a paint for a sculpture and got immediate friendly service. They are considerate when customers come in from the hot day to have a nice big fan on the cashier's area too. First of all, the customer service is hit or miss. The prices are nothing to brag about. Their inventory of plants lags behind OSH or Home Depot (pathetic, actually.) They also insist on giving anyone over the age of 55 a "senior disount" I work full tiime and do not need their paltry 5% discount but they insist on giving it anyway. I just hope that OSH doesn't go out of business because then it will be Home Depot for me. Very bad customer service especially the store manager Victoria! She's a very nasty lady I bought some plants that did not grow a few weeks back so I came in to return it. A young female I don't recall her name told me they can give me store credit if I bring it back. Today I brought it back and explained that to Victoria and she said she could take it back if I had a receipt then she said she changed it and said she couldn't take it back even if I did have a receipt. I explained to her I came here last week and was purchasing something else and I ask the young lady I had some plants that died out can I return them she said do you have a receipt I said no, she said I can do store credit for them if you bring it in I said ok. I told that to Victoria the store manager all she said was sorry I'll talk to her. Well get your shit straight with your employees so I won't have to drive back and forth wasting my time and gas! This is hands down the best hardware store, mostly because of the staff. They have a decent selection of what you'd find in any hardware store, and it's a clean, organized place. When my home project really matters, or I need to brainstorm with someone, or I'm looking for a certain kind of quality, I drive here from Pasadena, past several other hardware stores. The staff is actually helpful, which is such a refreshing change of pace from Home Depot or even Lowes. I once bought some laminate shelves from Home Depot but they wouldn't cut them for me (Home Depot is consistently the worst but they're closer to my house). I took the shelves to True Value Hardware and they wouldn't cut them either. So I took them to Do It Center (aka DIY) and walked up to the first person I saw (Braedan), who said "no problem!" And cut them for me himself, didn't even make me wait 5 minutes while he called someone over from some other department. This is my go-to store. Btw, they also have a fabulous selection of kitchen stuff- dishes storage, jars, utensils, things you'd never expect in a hardware store. read more

I go here often and I am an overly critical person. This place is not perfect but it is still pretty great. Friendly and helpful is how I would characterize the staff. The selection of products is extensive and I am rarely unable to find what I need. I've checked prices and mostly they are comparable to home depot and lowes. I too like to support local businesses and even if the prices were higher I'd still shop here. When you factor in time, distance and gasoline expense there really is no other good choice locally for me. read more

We usually go here because it's close and they have some things that home depot at times don't have. Rep at the front was super nice and helped us make a quick and easy exchange. I'm guessing it might have been easier because we bought something a bit more pricier and just paid the difference on it. The only thing I wish they had were more staff that can help us when we had questions about different types of products we were looking at. We looked around and couldn't find anybody for assistance so I just resorted to looking up the information on my phone. I also noticed that when we were making the exchange/purchase, there was a line forming behind us but only the 1 rep at the cash register. I looked over toward the inside of the store and noticed a small group of 3-4 employees talking to each other, but when the 1 rep called out for assistance over the intercom, I didn't see any of them coming over to help. I'm hoping that they maybe weren't cash register tenders and not just sitting around while customers are waiting. It took about 30 mins to ring about 20 items from the cashier "Maltilda". First off, the tomato plant I was gonna purchase was labeled $12.99, but when it was rung up it came out to $14.79. My dad confronted her about it and she bluntly said "yeah, no it's 14.79" when it was clearly labeled 12.99. Thankfully the manager came to her and told her to charge it at 12.99. After scanning all of my other items, my total came out to "79.01", I'm about to pay and she says the cash register had an error. So she rings me up AGAIN. As she was ringing me up, this worker was so confused and unorganized she had to ask my dad and I what she already scanned and what plant was what? I'm sorry don't you work here? Not us. Total came out to 80 something.. and she's about to charge us AGAIN and then of course it's an error again. So she rings up us AGAIN, for the third time.. same thing unorganized asking what is what, the total came out to $140 .. and at this point she's asking her coworker to help her because she's so confused and has no idea what the hell she was doing. Finally for the 4th time, the manager had to came and watch this girl scan everything.. and the total came out to 100. After 30 mins of waiting, I finally got the last price and was able to pay. Managers are very helpful and but only come here if you have A LOT OF TIME TO WASTE. Or if you come, stay away from maltilda, she's a bad worker, no customer service and has no clue what she's doing. I would rather go to orchards and spend the extra buck to get more competent help. read more
