My husband and me had an incredibly fun and happy time last weekend riding snowmobiles at DJ's Snowmobile Adventure. Riding a snowmobile across a field completely covered in white snow was a fantastic experience. The guide was friendly, and the route was excellent, making it even more enjoyable than skiing itself. Tour guide was not nice and did not make our tour fun. He was going EXTREMELY slow (no more than 10 mph) and kept getting mad at the group for trying to have fun. He did not stop half way for a break to take pictures or anything. The snowmobiles did not work properly and were shutting off or the steering wasn't working. A lot of money was spent for our family to do this and it did not meet our expectations. read more

I definitely would recommend going with another snowmobile outfit out of Mammoth. The guy in charge of this outfit is super unprofessional and rude. They shorted us on our tour by a half an hour times eight people it adds up to over $600 that they shorted us. When we confronted him about shorting us on the time of our tour, he stated that it was not a time tour. It was more of a mileage tour, and we went too fast following his guide, and that is why we were back to soon. I don't understand how we could gone too fast when we were following his guide. He basically scolded us for trying out the machines turning and what not to see how the machines handled the speed of our entire tour was under 25 mph. He also said to read the fine print on our tour, which was a three hour tour that we paid for. read more

Tour was less than an hour for $165 although it was supposed to me 90 minutes. Talked with owner they are clearly only here to take peoples money and not deliver or care about giving a quality experience. Very disappointing. Unmarked on the side of the road location we got lost getting there, we tried to call but no one answered to help us, but we still made it exactly on time for the scheduled time and found this unmarked outdoor locale hidden behind snow. We went on our tour and the guide stopped and we spent most of the time of the tour stopped looking at the scenery, while it was nice scenery we booked a snowmobile tour. The guide continued on only to our surprise to be back at the base--we were gone on snowmobiles LESS THAN AN HOUR. We called after to give feedback and let the company know it was less than promised and pretty disappointing. He argued that we did not show up 20 minutes EARLY and that On Time was late. First, This is not the military this is vacations. Second they said nothing about it being mandatory to be there early the booker was going to hang up and we brought it up if we should come early and they said oh yea nonchalantly. We explained we got lost AND tried to call and no one answered the phone and even with that still got there at exactly 2pm our scheduled time. This place is literally in the middle of Nowhere and unmarked! We left on snowmobiles at 2:20pm got back to base from the tour at 3:15. This was a very disappointing experience but even more disappointing is the owners attitude in taking our money and under delivering. His response to their lack of tour and blaming us instead of acknowledging there was a shortcoming on their behalf or even taking accountability is not good ownership quality. While Mammoth tours can be a pain to book online at least their tours last 3 hours which includes time to look for scenery and any paperwork. We will never use DJ s again and don't recommend anyone else do so either they are clearly only here to take peoples money and not deliver a quality experience. Very disappointing. :-/ read more

The highlight of our Mammoth trip!! I was a little worried after reading a couple of bad reviews, but I was worried for nothing! Super friendly and courteous. Not at all bad with communication! Dj's seems to be a family run business so pls keep in mind if they dont answer your call during business hours, they're probably getting people set up for their rides. Thats what happened to me... but just as the voicemail says, I texted their number and got a text back not too long after. Reservations were easily done on their website - a reminder email was sent out a day or two before. We arrived 30minutes before our scheduled tour to fill out & sign the forms & then we were off! Our family & friends had such a great time, we will definitely be back! read more

Staff was friendly and very helpful. The owners are on site and can answer all your questions about what would be the best adventure for your group. They are careful to match your riding skills with the best tour for you. This is a great family activity even if you've never been on a snowmobile before. Just be sure to dress warm! Wear your ski outfits. Bring a helmet if you have one. They can provide them, but on busy days you may have to wait for one. Don't show up in jeans and walking shoes! read more

I booked 2 snowmobile experiences, single rider each, in the morning, which was suppose to be 2 hours. it was only 1.5 hours. but that wasn't the bad part. one of the snowmobiles died 1/3 of the way through and we had to ride double the rest of the way. had the owner of the operation been nice about it and had giver a partial refund, any refund, I would have just said thanks and all would have been fine, but no, Richard, who is an obnoxious, offensive, and disgusting person literally said he does not care the snowmobile broke and I don't deserve a refund in addition to screaming at his employee/tour guide, as if it was his doing ! they have old and really poor quality snowmobiles. so much for supporting small business and receiving good service... read more

Fun, but we started late (at least 15-20 minutes) because of some large group taking forever, then they pushed in front of everyone and grabbed the best and newest snowmobiles. About halfway into the tour someone's snowmobile broke down and we all waited like sitting ducks for about 15 minutes until they brought them a new one. The trails were nice but pretty boring, not much view of anything until we got to a cliff area that was really nice but a good walk in knee deep snow to get to. We didn't get to see any little cabin like some of the reviews showed and somehow we ended up back at the beginning only 10 minutes past the original ending time. I feel like we got shorted between the late start and the failed snowmobile but honestly it wasn't that beautiful of a trail they used for us. Maybe we picked the wrong ride. I thought it would be more in the open and scenic with view along the side of you but it was mostly huddled in the middle of the forest on narrow trails with trees all around you, you couldn't ride side by side with your spouse or spread out at all. Over all it was great to experience for our first snowmobile trip and they were really friendly but it was lack luster on the ambiance of it all. I'd go back for the fact they were so nice but I would definitely ask what kind of ride you're booking beforehand so you get the most of your journey. read more

We had a great experience on our tour. I have read some of the reviews and although we experienced some of the same; 10-15 min breaks, arrived back from our tour 10 min early I didn't mind because we were with my 2 kiddos (9 and 6) and they needed breaks along the way. If I was solo I'd be more inclined to not have any breaks, or just one short one to enjoy the view and take pictures. read more

DJ's has such great potential to be a great service, however we were disappointed with the lack of professionalism. We had initially booked a self guided tour for 3 hours, but were told upon calling later that self guided tours were not being offered any longer. Which isn't a problem at all, but we would have liked to be informed directly about our reservation changing rather than happening upon it by accident. We were told our tour would be the same, just with a guide instead. We were told to arrive 15 minutes early to complete waivers and go through safety procedures. Everyone in the group arrived on time, except for the employees conducting the tour. We left about 30 minutes later than scheduled, then returned about 2 hours later even though we booked a 3 hour tour. We speculated this was due to guided versus unguided and where the costs were about equal, but either way we felt there was a lack of transparency of what to expect. Changing reservations without telling us was likely just an oversight, but we expected a lot more professionalism for what we paid. We at least had a right to know what we were paying for rather than being left to speculation. The tour itself was great! It was snowing like crazy and gave us tons of powder to play in. We had a lot of fun on the tour itself, and ultimately we did really enjoy ourselves. However, the lack of transparency, communication, and professionalism left a bad taste in our mouth. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. We called early in the morning and booked 4 snowmobiles for the 2:30 pm session. Everyone in our family was so excited to try it but we received a message shortly after saying they did not have enough snowmobiles and could only rent out 2 snowmobiles at 1:30, not even our original time. It was not possible for us to get there at 1:30 so we had to cancel. Our plans for the day were completely ruined due to this establishments poor management, overbooking, and false advertising. I do not understand how you can go from booking 4 vehicles at 2:30 to only having 2 available at a completely different time. They could have at least held the 2 they had for our time slot but they said that they would have to bump other people that had a 2:30 reservation so I guess those other clients are more important because we had a reservation too! I find it difficult to believe other people booked before us because I called right when they had opened for the day and they only allow same day booking for the snowpark rentals. I do not recommend this business and will definitely not be booking with them in the future. read more

DJ's is the place to book your snowmobiling adventure! My girlfriend and I booked a 1.5 hour tour looking for a fun new experience to indulge in while on vacation in the mammoth lakes area. Booking online was easy, payment was taken through PayPal and check in process was very smooth. The price was very reasonable compared to all the other snowmobile rentals in the area, it was also very accessible from Mammoth or June, right off the main highway. Our instructors were professional and went above and beyond for us, as we lost our phone and our guide went back once the tour was done to retrieve it. The snowmobiles were powerful and super easy to operate. The tour itself was a lot of fun, great views, diverse terrain and go at your own pace. Highly recommend!! These guys are awesome! read more

DO NOT BOOK THE 2 HOUR TOUR. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY OPEN PLAY AREA AS FALSELY ADVERTISED. Our first experience in 2022 was great even though the conditions were not. We booked a 1.5 hour guided tour for our group of 8. The guide was personable and the tour was fun. We are a laid back group who is easy to please. We decided to book the 2 hour tour this year because the conditions are much better and we wanted the partake in the open play area as advertised. We paid $37 more for the so-called 2 Hour Local's Favorite tour. I asked about the open play when we arrived and was told that it no longer existed due to risk of injury and damage to the sleds. I can completely understand that. What I don't understand is why we were charged more money for a tour that was shorter. We paid for a 2 hour tour that ended 20 minutes early and had more frequent stops. There were 3 stops that lasted for over 10 minutes each. The guide made it clear that he hated his job and people. I reached out via email to express my frustration with our experience and got no response. Our group of 8 anticipated taking a tour with DJ's each year, but will not be returning due to poor customer service, false advertising, and being ripped off. read more

Snowmobiling has been on the bucket list for some time! I actually preferred to go dog sledding over snowmobiling but they never picked up our call, so DJ's it was! It was simple to get a reservation and the employees were really nice/helpful. They provide helmets and if it's not too cold they suggest you not to wear gloves. They said the 2 hr trail is the nicest but was closed due to not enough snow coverage. We ended up doing the 1.5 hr self-guided tour and got insurance for the snowmobiles. We ended up going the wrong way every time, which ended up being OK. It was fun to go off the trails onto the powder in all the wide open areas. It says there's a 20 mph speed limit but the snowmobiles can hit 40+ mph. They didn't seem to mind that we took closer to 2 hrs either! Just a warning for if you ride on the back: you'll definitely feel the impact of all the bumps 100x more than as the driver, your feet will fly up, and make sure to hold on for your dear life! read more

This is my first time to write review in Yelp, because I am really confused and angry base on DJ's Snowmobile's ignore service. We( me and my friend with his kid) have booked Jan 31th 1.5 hours Vista tour at 13:00pm (one single and one double) with DJ's Snowmobile and paid full amount online. But the day before skiing, I injured my spine and caused a fracture. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance, so I definitely can't continue this tour on Jan 31th. I asked my friend to take with my doctor's report to show them and would like cancel my tour and get my refund back. But they requested that I need to call them to explain that no refund will be precessed at the scene. Their phone call will never work. I wrote them an email explaining everything, and someone who wrote back that he would ask his colleague and reply to me soon, because he wasn't there during Jan 31th. And then there was no any news from them. After I wrote two time emails again to follow up this case, and no response has been received so far. Of course there is no refund. That's why I wrote a review to one star today. I feel that I have been ignored and I haven't received the basic respect from them. read more

We were in June Lake last week, and had pre-booked our snowmobile day for Wednesday. It was pretty warm and dry when we arrived on Monday, and snow at DJ's was pretty sparse. Once we got settled in, we checked email, and DJ's had emailed recommending that we move our day to Thursday or Friday, since there was snow in the forecast. We moved our snowmobile day to Friday, and we are so glad we did. Great customer service by everyone there, and Cody was an awesome guide - he was knowledgeable about the area and really just a cool guy! Even better, it was just Cody, my boyfriend and myself on our guided tour. We covered two trails on the 2-hour guided tour, and then had about 20 minutes to play in the open snow - on a nice blanket of fresh powder. These guys really want to make sure you get your money's worth. So to recap - great customer service, variety of adventures, fun and knowledgeable staff, and a great location right on the highway. read more

- We show up for our 9AM reservation. NOBODY WAS THERE. No sign, or note for those with reservations. Guess they haven't been doing this that long. - We drive back to our lodging and call. They claim they "are in the process of calling people." But why? It's 45 MINUTES AFTER THEIR NO SHOW? Guess they aren't that on top of stuff. - Their claim: "zero visibility". We arrive at 1PM anyways because our BS detector was beeping like a mofo. You can see for miles and the sky is blue. OK? - Employees at the site tell us it's too dangerous. Odd because 7 people were at the site snowmobiling including DJS employees. - Go to Mammoth's Snowmobile Adventure 15 min away. Super nice. They are still running. All day. Like professionals. Got on walkie talkies and hit up EVERYONE IN TOWN to find things for us today since we wasted 4 hours with DJs. - STAY FAR AWAY. * UPDATE RESPONSE TO DJ's COMMENTS BELOW * Looked at your photo and never spoke to you before J.L. We spoke to 2 women on the phone, and 3 young guys at the location. As per the above, we received no calls before our appointment, claims of zero visibility, and now claims of 4 feet of snow. We took photos ( attached to this review ) of the "4 feet of snow", and the "zero visibility", neither of which existed as we saw with our own eyes. Horrible customer service. I would give 0 stars if I could. Booked 3x 1.5 hours tours back in January for my group. We barely rode about 15-20 minutes then had a 10-15 minute break. No where does it say there are breaks during the tour especially for 10-15 minutes. Maybe 5 but 10-15 is much for a tour that's only 1.5 hours. On top of that the guide was saying there will be multiple breaks. After a minute of the break someone who wasn't part of our group crashed their snowmobile. Crazy because it took the guide a while to even notice there was an accident since there was only 1 guide at the front. For something that's fairly dangerous there should be a guide at the end to make sure everyone is ok. Ive done ATV yours and that's how it usually set up. Because there was only one tour guide he asked everyone to help fish out the snowmobile which took an hour! The lady who crashed looked ok but they didn't even have her checked medically. Since there was a crash the tour immediately ended with only 15-20 minutes of actual riding time. After getting back to base the guide assured us that we would get a partial refund which I thought was fair. He was stating we would get charged $120 instead of the $165 but it would be refunded 2-3 weeks later. My mistake for not getting that in writing. Over two months passed still nothing. I sent them an email 2-3 weeks ago and no response at all. Finally called and got someone on phone who was really rude. I explained the situation and all he could say its not their policy to give refunds and it's not their fault someone had an accident. I understand that it's not your fault there was an accident but we still paid for a 1.5 hour tour. If the accident occurred one minute in does that also mean it's over? I didn't even expect a full refund but only the partial that was promised to us by their guide. We the customers even helped fish the person out of the snow and the snowmobile which is such a huge liability risk. You guys need to improve your protocol and stick to your words. If your guide promised a partial refund then honor it regardless if it's not your policy. I would have been a repeat customer but now you lost me and everyone I wanted to refer to you. read more

My wife and I had a blast riding snow mobiles at DJ's! We did the guided, 2 hour back country ride up to bald mountain - to open play area- and back. Just like any of you who are reading this, I also read the reviews of a place of business before deciding to make any reservations or purchases. And the gamble here paid off! The most common bad review for this place is the 20mph speed limit or governed snow machine, and that was not the case for us. Our guide let us ride as hard and as fast as our slowest rider in the group. lucky for us we are all experienced motorcycle riders and the transition to a snow machine was quite simple. Being said, we rode it like we stole it! We made our reservations to ride bald mountain with a guide at the hwy 395 location and not the scenic loop road location. On DJ's website, if you click on "visitor tips" it says plain as day, "20mph speed limit for self-guided tours". To me it make total sense because no rental company in their right mind would let an inexperienced tourist(including myself) take a ride, by themselves, in the back country where they've never been before, in deep snow, on a high performance snow machine. So, do your self a favor and get the guide! If you show the guide you're confident and competent riding the snow machine, then they will let you give it gas and hall *ss! What an amazing experience! Everyone at DJ's was so nice to us and made feel like we're friends. I highly recommend riding at DJ's with a guide to bald mountain. The one con we did have was the design of the throttle control lever on the snow machines. It's very awkward and un natural to give it gas, using your thumb or the palm of your hand to push the lever forward while gripping the handle bar to maintain control of the sled. It would be so much easier to give it gas with a twist grip, like a motorcycle. This is not DJ's fault, it's the poor design from SKI-DOO, the manufacturer of the snow machines. So DJ's still gets 5 stars! read more

I was looking for a little more freedom with a few less rules. We were yelled at by one of the field guys for speeding on the trail. the first time we probably deserved it, the second time we definately were driving within the limit. The couple we were with got a bunk sled that went about half speed. when we took it back they found tools still inside the machine with the belt disengaged. I wouldnt mention it but this cut into our ride by about 25 minutes and when we wanted an extra 5 minutes when we were scheduled to return our sleds they told us they already had another party scheduled. I have been to a couple different tour services over the years and this was my least favorite, the customer service "didn't help" In an effort to be fair it is the only snowmobile service i have gone to in the Mammoth area.
