My New Leather and Shoe Repair store! I have a Daddy-daughter date planned with my little Diva for tonight, taking her to her first professional hockey game. I wanted to wear my new white leather jacket, but realized that, when I unpacked my luggage from a recent business trip, there was blue ink transfer on to the jacket from my jeans! I immediately jumped on Yelp to find a local leather repair store who could help. I called D M Shoe Repair, and explained to David my situation. When I asked what time they closed, he replied that they close at 5pm. (Keep in mind that it was already 10 minutes after 5pm when I made the call.) Not only did he wait for my arrival, but it took just minutes to look at the jacket and tell me exactly what I needed. I wanted to leave a great review on this place because I had a great experience at DM Shoe Repair. I honestly thought I had lost my boots forever after my friend pushed me in the pool and I barely wore them 3 times. I wish I had a before picture cause they were horrible. My boots needed more than just a good cleaning which DM Shoe Repair did do a great job on. I also needed a good leather dye which DM recommended me to get for the water stains that wouldn't come out. Sent my belt to get resized in the 4th of December, i'm assuming the store owner said it would be done by the 12th. Its currently the 18th and I haven't gotten any word on my belt. every time I try to go in the store to check in on the progression, I visited the store 5 times and he was only there once. The one time I was able to to into the store the belt looked exactly the same and there was no progress made. I got my belt on the 19th, the resizing job was subpar and shotty. I'm writing this update on the 26th and the "repairs" he did already broke, he used shitty glue instead of stitching an inch of the ball chain. I took a pair of heels to stretch them because they were too tight on the sides, he told me he'd put them in the stretcher and to come back a week later, coming back the shoes there as tight so he told me to come back another week later, when I come back they're just the same and charged me 12 dollars for a job he didn't do, I just told him they were ok and took them home. I have brought a few pairs of shoes to get tips replaced and he did an OK job. Over 2 months aI brought in 2 pairs, 1 of them needed to be glued at the sole and he did a horrible job. You can see glue all over the shoe and it's ugly I cannot even wear those shoes. The other pair needed to be re-tipped. He said no problem give him 2 weeks to get it done. It has been 2 MONTHS since I dropped off these shoes and STILL NO TIP!! He says he will call when ready but obviously he hasn't done anything to them. I DON'T recommend this place. Someone needs to teach this guy manners.... I took a pair of Ugg's in light brown with blood on them, The owner said he would be able to remove the blood and if not he would paint the shoe dark brown ok no problem. I went back a week later it wasn't done so I gave him an additional week to fix it. I come in for pickup today and my shoes are horrible!!!! Stains are still visible and they have been painted dark brown but the paint job was shitty. I expressed that I hated them and the job was bad he says No it's not bad you had blood on them and I told you I couldn't get it out What! Took both my girlfriends and my cowboy boots in for new soles last week. I emphasized I absolutely needed them back the following Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest for a festival we are attending. David the manager was very helpful the minute we walked in and told us it would be no problem having them done in time. Just picked them up today Tuesday April 4th and couldn't be happier. I rarely give a bad rating, but for this place it would be a sin not to... DO NOT solicit this business! I took a purse to him on October 31st to reinforce the o-rings that connect the straps to the purse. He told me it would be ready in a week. I went on the date given on the ticket and it wasn't ready. He told me that it would be ready in a couple hours (he hadn't even started it). I came back a 10 days later...STILL not done, but if I could wait a couple hours it would be ready. This time, due to the holidays and personal constraints, it was 3 weeks before i could come back. Not only was the purse not done, he had torn out the entire base of my Butler Bag. What the compartments had to do with the HANDLE I don't know. I finally asked for my money back - guess I gave him one too many chances. He refunded my money and gave me back my purse IN PIECES. His work is not ready when he says it will be. He doesn't call his clients if there is a problem or difficulty. He's very flippant when confronted about the sub-par work. Save yourself the headache and DO NOT SOLICIT THIS BUSINESS. Took in my boots for new soles & heels - told to come back in a week - "not ready, come back tomorrow". Next day - "come back after 2". Went back after 2, "we didn't get the thread we needed. I wore out my favorite Cole Haan high heels to the nail. I know I'm terrible, but I kept wearing the because I didn't know where to take to be reheeled. Found this place on yelp and decided to go for it, despite the "meh" reviews. I actually brought in the little replacement heels included from the original purchase, the owner said to keep them because they were plastic and they use rubber, which will presumably last longer. I was told to come back the next day after 4pm. I came a couple of days later and got a little nervous because they seemed to have trouble finding my shoes. They tried to tell me at first that I gave them the wrong receipt, but I said, "hey this is what the man gave me and I've never been here before so..." Apparently, they had my shoes under someone else's name. However, I'm excited to have my favorite heels again. The leather looked a little bunched at the bottom before the piece, but that is likely my fault for wearing them down so badly. I took these favorite sling back heels for the to re-glue the soles & put new heel savers. The price was $30, which I thought was a bit pricey. I went with it, as the shoes are so comfy. When I went to pick the shoes up, they had a hard time finding them, which made me nervous! When I saw them, I was very disappointed. They didn't even glue down the top layer that was lifting on the back heel. I had to actually ask the person at ghe counter to put some glue, then because I didn't have time to wait for them to dry, he taped them. David sometimes gets my simple repairs done in a day,or two and I once walked in with a heal i snapped off and he did emergency nail it back on, on the spot. My shoes weren't polished up to look new or anything that time. But I always respectfully give David the proper time to do a complete pretty up my shoes ... and I respect that there are other customers in front of me and that business is slow or business is overwhelming and that is a small owner operated business.
