PSA - NON-Korean owner, Non-Korean cook = NOT authentic Korean food!! We were really looking forward to the opening of this Korean restaurant in Kent but after our first visit realized this is NOT Korean food but a very bad attempt at imitation. I've had really good Korean food made by a non-Korean so it's not about the ethnicity of the cook, but you have to have some understanding of what real Korean food tastes like before you try to make it and open a restaurant as a Korean BBQ restaurant. The signage, the menu (written in Korean and english) the decor etc. all leads one to believe this is an authentic KBBQ restaurant. We did think it was a little strange that not one server or staff appeared to be Korean but we figured the kitchen staff/cook was Korean..... After one taste of the banchan (side dishes) we knew something was way off. Of the 5 side dishes, 3 were absolutely flavorless. The kim chee and pickled radish tasted/appeared store bought, these 2 items were the only edible banchan (probably because they were purchased premade??) We ordered the marinated short ribs, but there was VERY little meat, mostly fat/gristle and what little meat there was - very tough. No amount of dipping sauce could help the poor quality of meat or should I call it gristle. The rice was piled into a bowl haphazardly, looked very sticky/soggy and overcooked in appearance but after one spoonful realized the rice was crunchy and undercooked. (Assuming they are using a commercial rice cooker in which you add washed rice, water to the appropriate line, close the lid and press start, difficult to mess up but yet the rice was soggy AND undercooked crunchy) We finally asked the waiter if the owner and/or cook is Korean and the server stated no, the owner and cook is NOT Korean. Now it all made sense because even a mediocre Korean cook/chef would not allow that food to be served as Korean food. Our friends and I (all Korean) felt duped and offended that this food was being served as "Korean" food. If you have never had real Korean food, this place might be okay for you. But PLEASE do not think this is authentic Korean food. It actually makes me angry to think customers are being duped to think this is authentic Korean food. We made reservations for opening weekend and looked at the menu ahead of time, which had all you can eat offerings. When we arrived today, we found the menu had been completely changed and there is no longer an all you can eat option. The service has been slow and the food is sub-par compared to our other favorite KBBQ restaurants. We asked the server about the advertised all you can eat, and he said they "tried it but it didn't work out" on the grand opening day. We hadn't realized this and we were just asking for meat to be brought to our table like any other all you can eat KBBQ restaurant. Now we're stuck with a huge bill we didn't expect. And the all you can eat offering is STILL on the menu but the server didn't bother to tell us it wasn't available until we inquired as to why they weren't bringing out much meat. If you come here expecting an all you can eat experience, prepare to be disappointed like we were. read more

My husband and I have been eagerly anticipating the opening of Do Si restaurant ever since we noticed the "opening soon"sign six months ago. We went to Do Si for lunch during their grand opening weekend. The inside decor was modern and clean even though the blaring K-pop music got annoying after waiting one hour for a table. The wait time was much longer than the estimate given when we first arrived and the service was very slow. The staff was obviously trying their best but they were severely understaffed. We were still hopeful for good Korean BBQ but the food was disappointing at best.The kimchi was stale and mushy. Honestly , the rest of the banchan side dishes were a mystery. We couldn't quite figure out what they actually were. Were they potatoes or cooked radishes sprinkled with red pepper? They were so tasteless and bland. The main dish was just as awful. We ordered marinated combo. The pork belly was shaved so thinly that grilling it just resulted in a pile of congealed globs of fat and blackened char. The chicken was just a raw pieces of meat, almost seemed like they just unpacked it from the freezer, thawed it and brought it out, not marinated at all. The one rib included in the combo was so tough and gristly that it was inedible. The long wait and slow service are understandable but the low quality food is not. KBBQ only 10 minutes from home had us very excited. We came here Friday evening after skiing at The Summit. We got Do Si fried chicken and a small combo for grilling. The chicken was really crispy and moist, but the sauce was kind of bland for my taste (my husband thought it was great though). The meat we got tasted really good quality, and it was a fair sized serving for two people. The reasons I didn't love this place were the banchan, and the service. The service was kind of weird, the lady dropping our food off would appear, toss the food down, and run away without saying anything. She eventually came over to our table and started fussing with our grill without asking and then asked if this was our first time doing KBBQ, which felt condescending. However, every other person seemed kind, and the male server was really nice, attentive, and helpful. My biggest qualm here were the sides. The kimchi was not good. It has very little flavor and no spice. The cucumber kimchi was a bit more flavorful and I took the sauce from it to try to add some semblance of spice, but it was still bland as far as kimchi is concerned. During our entire meal no one asked if we wanted refills on any sides when we finished the potatoes and broccoli right away. Overall, not a bad place. We enjoyed our meal and left full, but I probably won't be rushing back anytime soon. read more

The restaurant starts to fill around 5pm on a Fri, which is very modern and roomy. The decor has screens showing k-pop and a designated sports screen. Recently visited Do Si KBBQ. Food was all really good, the place was really clean, staff was attentive and good about changing out the grill. Only thing I'm knocking a star for is nobody asked us if we have ever eaten KBBQ before or had been there or knew what to do. I do, but usually they'll ask and get the grill started for you. Friends and I went for ACYE (saw advertisements on socials for it and friends went previous nights and had ACYE), only to find out after we were seated (had a reservation for 6p but still had to wait about 35 mins) that they weren't doing it that night. I wish they had communicated it through their socials and a sign at the front saying so. I understand being short staffed for a soft opening and that things are still being worked out but one shouldn't advertise having something then not have it without informing people til after they are seated. They were even more short staff than the previous nights. Person who seated us did inform us that when they were seating us that it would be a bit slower due to 2 people calling out. Food was decent. The Do Si Fried Chicken sauce they had was too sweet for my liking but the chicken was nicely fried, had a good crunch. Had the strawberry soju cocktail, it was nice and refreshing. The strawberries they used are freeze dried so best to let them soak in the drink a bit. Small combo is good for 2 people but wasn't enough for 3. Imo they have too many tvs on the walls. None of them had sound and the music playing was different from anything being shown on the 8 different tvs. Feel like they could have done with at least 2-3 less TVs and use that money towards staff. There was dirty utensils and we didn't realize till half way through our meal when we found a serving spoon in the container where we all picked from there was old food on the spoon and it smelt very bad. I let the staff know and they changed it out as if that was going to fix the fact we already ate from dirty dishes they didn't show any sense of urgency that we might get sick they acted as if it wasn't a big deal and that threw me off. I was so excited for this new Korean bbq place to open in the area. Finally went to try it today for the first time and i am disappointed. We ordered beef brisket, pork belly and kimchi fried rice. The portions were big. However, the spam kimchi fried rice smelled like fish. Beef brisket and pork belly were alright, nothing special. The side dishes were not good and lacks flavor. I ordered the large Beef Combo. Comes with 5 servings of rice. I also ordered 1 serving of pork belly. All together is really made for 4 people. The LA Galbi beef short rib is marinated by the way. Good quality food. Rice is nice and not overcooked/mushy. Service was awesome. When I asked about the difference between the boneless short rib and the LA short rib I was told one has bones and one doesn't. That wasn't the only difference. One was marinated and one was not. I really hate marinated. When I brought it up they easily swapped the LA Galbi short rib with something else. No fussing around. Awesome way to handle it. Good variety of sides. I should have taken photos/videos. All tasted great. They serve bottled water here. Great vibes with the korean music playing in the background. Not too loud with all the people dining. read more

Had reservations for AYCE on a wednesday night at 5:30pm and was seated roughly 5 mins after we checked in. Everything went fine until we put in our first order. Our lady server gave us our first order andnever showed up again or came to check in on us. We finished out first order within the first 15 mins and waited 20-25 mins for someone to attend us but no one would assist. Our table was dry and our grill had burned so dark yet we received no service. There was a table next to us who ordered mix drinks and were attended to by two other servers. These servers had to walk past us to get to the table next to us and still did not ask if we needed another order or if we needed anything. We asked another server on the floor for help but he told us to wait and never came back however he was clearly taking orders from other tables. After waiting for 20 mins, our server came out to give more mix drinks to the table next to us. When we told her we wanted to put in another order she didnt even apologize for being gone for so long. She took our order and never came back again. NO ONE DARED to ask us for more orders or see how we were doing. We only got what we needed because WE had to flag down the servers. We were greeted right away when we entered and seated quickly. The staff was very attentive stopping by our table often asking if we needed anything and if we wanted refills. Someone came to change out our grill twice while we were cooking our meats which doesn't happen often at other K BBQ places. The price seemed a bit high but the tray of meats were generous and everything tasted good. We arrived around 4pm on a Friday and by the time we left the place was almost full.
