Ok on the very basic foods: grilled cheese, split pea and chicken noodle soup. For the rest of the meals: Portions were smaller than expected. Mixed steak salad was small plate size and had only arugula, not mixed greens as stated on the menu. (which was odd since the server had recommended it as a dinner sized salad with a good mix of ingredients and it was $18 with chicken and steak) However, Panini sandwiches were extremely disappointing . One plate had almost twice the size side as the other and both sides of sweet potato fries were practically uncooked (we had asked for them well done.) When we asked our server about the disproportionate servings and raw fries she became defensive rather than offering to fix the problem. Then when we asked to speak to the manager, we were kept waiting till food was cold. . .although one sandwich was eventually re-served and another side of fries was provided. . .the properly prepared sandwich was served after the rest of the party had already finished and it was not a pleasant experience. I got the feeling the restaurant did not really take the complaint seriously and was unable to understand why our party was upset. It's too bad, since I really wanted to like this restaurant due to it's convenient location, clean and accommodating, family-friendly atmosphere but the entire experience wasn't that great due to smaller than average portions, inconsistent quality of food preparation and lackluster service. read more

Fairly decent diner experience with no surprises on the menu or service. What kills the place is the location. If it is half full there is literally nowhere to park in that postage stamp sized parking lot. This means you have to park on the street, but the "street" is the crazy busy intersection of Broadway and Ashford Avenue. I walked 2 blocks last week after parking closer to the supermarket because there was no place to park. It wasn't even crowded. Drop Grandma off at the front (what the hell are you taking her to a diner for anyway?) and then park or you'll end up carrying her back to the car. read more

The food is standard lower end diner fare with "breakfast syrup" and Franks Red Hot as the most exotic condiment options. The service isn't attentive or consistent, or server switched halfway through. The menu I had listed coffee or tea as included with the breakfast but they charged $2/each anyway. When I asked about it and pointed it out on the menu I was told "I'm sure it says somewhere that it's not included on weekends." If a customer has never before dined at your restaurant on a weekend and was given the "wrong" menu it's probably better customer service to write off the cost of the coffee so that they'd be tempted to return rather than telling them that they should have known it wasn't included on weekends. read more

Dobbs is my local diner and it's exactly what one would expect. Diner food. Comfort food. We have had many a breakfast there and will continue to do so. That being said, I fantasize about being able to get a good coffee there- a nice deep, rich brew instead of their generic swill. Coffee quality is SO important these days. Tastes have changed since Starbucks for better for worse. We just are used to higher quality roasts. Also gluten free is a huge trend likely here to stay. Why not add gf pancakes and French toast to menu? Even coordinate with by he way bakery and get a gf cake in your offerings. Wonderful little diner in the main square of town, located next to the Walgreens. Great portions. Prompt service. Looks like there's a bakery on site, there were massive cookies stacked on the counter and the cakes in the display case looked heavenly.
