I've been a regular customer at Fountain Diner and always order the same thing -- the California Panini. But this last visit was terrible. The bread and chicken were so hard they were nearly inedible. It was clear the food wasn't fresh and nowhere near the usual quality. I called right away and was told I'd be credited on my credit card, but the refund never came. I followed up twice the next day. When I finally spoke to the owner, Philip, instead of apologizing, he raised his voice at me and was extremely unprofessional. He said he would "take care of it," but still nothing has been done. my friend recommended we come here a couple of months ago, and we finally found the chance to make plans for a quick lunch together. i immediately noticed, and adored, the vintage-style decor. a majority of the patrons looked older, but we didn't feel "out of place." in fact, they added a subtle air of comfort to the atmosphere. as a vegan, i did have trouble looking for something to eat. i saw plenty of vegetarian options that i thought sounded good, including the black bean chipotle burger. i asked the waiter if i could possibly modify the item to be vegan. he admitted that he didn't know and would have to ask the kitchen. a man, who i believe to be the owner, soon brought me a spiral notebook listing the ingredients and allergens in each component of the dishes served. i didn't expect such an accommodation and truly appreciated their efforts. i flipped through the sections specifically for breads and wraps before settling on the vegetable wrap with french fries (omit the cheese and sub a spinach wrap) and an almond milk cappuccino. my friend ordered 3 buttermilk pancakes. he cleared his plate, which i'm assuming means he enjoyed the food, as did i. the wrap seemed a bit on the smaller side upon arrival, but had been packed full of vegetables. everything tasted delicious, including my coffee; a standard cappuccino. nothing more, nothing less, and it doesn't have to be. i unfortunately wouldn't return of my own volition due to the lack of vegan options, but if anybody i know invites me out, i'll happily visit again. read more

I have not eaten here in a few years but it is better than ever. I had the spinach and feta cheese pie with phyllo crust and Greek salad (an extra $3.95 on the $14.95 ') pie'. So delicious, lovely diner service, that means cozy, personal and you feel welcome. Nice, decent diner. Been passing by here for many years until I finally decided to give this place a try. It's called "Fountain" diner, but the small fountain in the front wasn't even working - but it may just be a seasonal thing. Inside is small, but comfortable. There is ample enough seating and it wasn't a busy time, so there was plenty of spots to choose from. The menu is standard diner with some minor differences. I wanted breakfast, but couldn't decide and they didn't have one of those "lumberjack" options with enough decent offerings (ham, bacon, OR sausage for example - not all 3), so I went with my usual bacon cheeseburger. Some items were a little higher than the norm, but I don't mind paying a few cents more if it's quality. Burger was made just fine and the fries were good. The waitress was friendly and accommodating. They share the lot with two other businesses on either side, but the parking spaces are clearly marked for the diner patrons. All in all a decent diner and one in which I'd return to. read more

When we want something under the radar- this is one of those rare blue moon stops. Spacious with counter service and some booths to your right. More varied seating to the left with a Cake island dividing both sections. Place is clean and service is generally pleasant. Fountain closes shop between 10-11pm on a daily. Huge menu with standard Greek items. We've done breakfast in the past and waiters have been nice about substituting hash browns for a side salad for me. Thank you! Food is really nothing to rave about. But I do commend them for preparing a doable Vanilla Egg Cream. We shared Mozzarella Sticks- but they were just off. Although stringy and gooey- took a bite of one- and the smell of the oil- they were fried in was just horrible. Gave it one more chance, took 1/2 a bite of another and just couldn't continue. Decided on a Spanakopita and a Greek Salad with fresh Feta cubes, Kalamata olives, etcera. My Spanakopita had a crispy phyllo and loads of Spinach and seasonings in the filling but it was too salty for my taste. Had several bites- but left the rest. My husband decided on a Grilled Chicken Salad- with no complaints. He insisted on getting chocolate shakes while I declined. Just because intuition kicked in and knew Fountain wouldn't top our spot in Elmsford- that makes a rich Chocolate Shake (for a diner). Our shakes were another disappointment: way too milky and tasted nothing like chocolate. You can't beat the prices here though. And to some, "a diner is a diner"-well...not in this case. I rather go to El Dorado (24hr) diner and feast on a well-made Spanakopita and indulge in a solid Chocolate Shake... even at 2am. read more

This place is the worst in the area, they did not allow us to enter the diner because we had a 10lb Service Dog. We went there to have a birthday breakfast, and without explanation the waitress insisted it was not a service dog, despite having the service dog vest and proper documentations to proof so. I had an open faced roast beef sandwich which when done right is delicious. This was neither. The meat was bland and not even a bit of pink. The carrots were cooked but that's it. Zero seasoning. She says no problem I'll get it and she did. Also commenting " If I break it it's OK" and if I get fired I don't mind I work on the books and can collect unemployment. The portions are totally worth the price and we experience great service every time we've visited. The place is clean and there is always enough staff where we are not waiting long for our food. We love to order the Beef Chili Omelet with either hash browns or home fries and it is a delicious choice.My son loves to order French Toast with a side of bacon or sausage. There is plenty of parking and the wait has always been a short one. They do add a credit card processing fee to the check so bring cash if you want to avoid paying the fee. My whole life, I've always passed by this place, but for the past couple of days, I decided to try it out. For a diner, this place is pretty classy. The decor is pretty nice, and staff are friendly and fast too. The menu has a huge variety of delicious food. The French Fries had to be some of the best French Fries I've had in a while. Plus Pancakes are huge and fluffy. Surprisingly fluffier then IHOP's own pancakes. The food here is good, but the 1 star review is because they KEEP messing up basic stuff on delivery orders. We ordered delivery from them twice this weekend (I know, don't judge, I'm pregnant) and both times, my husbands food was straight wrong. He ordered a triple decker chicken salad sandwich the first time and it arrived, not as a triple decker, and also missing tomato, which was all listed as an ingredient. Today, he ordered a deluxe lox bagel and it didn't have cream cheese! That is like the key ingredient in a lox bagel.
