Earlier I had to get a new car battery and Dobb's Tire on Chesterfield Airport Road was AMAZING. During this COVID time, they did everything right. I felt secure and comfortable. The waiting room was reconfigured to meet the 6 feet apart, there were taped sections on where to stand and where to drop your keys, everyone wore masks and gloves, people behind the counter stood back when I needed to process my bill, the driver returned my car in a mask, gloves and wiped in down in front of me AND everyone was so friendly. This is in direct contrast to my experience at West County Volvo. See the list above? Couldn't check any of those things. It was business as usual. read more

Dobbs has gone way down hill. They used to care about long term customers. I had $1700 + worth of brake work done less than 2 months ago. Pads, rotors, calipers (which I didn't need) and pressure hoses. Picked up my kids from school this past Friday and my pedal went to the floor. Luckily i eventually stopped without an accident. Brake fluid spewing out from a line where the "technician" attached the new hose. Got it towed out there that same night. No communication in the morning, until I reached out to them. The service mngr calls and says "we quoted you for the 20" piece of brake line ($38) fluid flush ($140) labor ($499). A total of $703 after tax. Very frustrating after the money I just spent in June. I asked if they could have it done Saturday. They called told me it would not be done by Saturday and would roll into the following week. Still very frustrated, I agreed for them to do it. They agreed to do the work. I found a ride to work Monday no big deal. I get a call Monday morning from the service manager (Rob). Rob tells me I need to get my truck out of their lot because they are no longer interested in doing the work. Paid $270 to have it towed to a shop in the city. The gentleman that did the work had it done in less than an hr. Part, labor, bleed system ($250) out the door. He told me that Dobbs had their hands on that piece of line and had to notice the rust. Just wanted to double charge on labor I guess. Dobbs is a joke. Literally take your car anywhere else. Anywhere! Go to Costco for tires. Dobbs has gone corporate and it's showing. Just left the Dobbs in Chesterfield,MO. I had a tire that was leaking. I brought it in yesterday knowing they probably couldn't look at it till this morning. Dropped it off with a very nice man. I'm forgetting his name he had red hair, but he was super friendly. Anthony who I just picked the car up from was super nice also. They had to call me to find the tire locks. I went into talk to them about my mistreatment at another location and told them I refuse to take my car back to that location because of a huffy puffy manager that likes to take advantage of people and then gets an "I'm better than you attitude" about it when he's told he's wrong. i went in here asking for help and boy did they deliver it. they treated me w the utmost respect honesty and are even trying to save me money instead of price gauge me like scott Nelson did at the dobbs on manchester. Couldn't be more lazy. Sent my son by because tire light came on and steering vibration. Didn't expect them to make a repair later in the day, but out of safety, expected at least an air pressure check. "Mike" stated that he, "looked" at it. The tires. He "looked" at the tires. And then was offended when I asked if they had tire pressure gauges...Sent my son on his way for a 30 mile drive home. Obviously, I was frustrated and called. Lazy, lazy, lazy. *CONSUMER BEWARE* I show up to my 11/12 appointment needing two directional tires turned around since they were put on wrong at a different establishment and a possible nail in tire w/o any sign of leaks. Then the guy tells me there's a leak in the tire after they "sprayed" it. They car is over 90k brand new and the onboard computers would let me know if there was a leak prior to coming in. I go check my car out and the tire is bone dry and no evidence of any liquid substance that would show evidence of bubbling for a leak. I was lied to in order to tray and get me to spend over 1k in new tires and labor. Then I go to the BP to check my tire pressure and my front tire is on 27 PSI and the rear is on 31 PSI, which shows lack of care for customers. read more

cannot recommend this location enough! I had a tire go flat an hour before they were closing and LUCKILY was able to get it in about 35 minutes before they closed. BUYERS BEWARE! I dropped my vehicle off to have my license plate bracket and tires looked at. I personally was dealing with Chris. When I picked up my vehicle and paid, I got back to work and realized there was a yellow mark on my back bumper where someone had backed into something yellow. I called and they told me it couldn't have been them. I explained there were yellow poles right outside the shop where they pulled my car out of, he said it wasn't possible. I then asked to have them look at the Camera System and he told me they have no cameras anywhere on the premise and proceeded to get rude with me on the phone. I will never take my vehicle to these people again and I hope you think twice before doing it as well. read more

They are excellent. I have previously been there with tire issues and they have filled my tires with air for free. After awhile I did need new tires and they did a great job at a fair price. This time I went in there because one of my sensors was giving me a warning light. They quickly looked at it and diagnosed it and had it reset. I really appreciate that they always are communicating what is going on and willing to help. read more

I made an appointment to get my wife's van checked over before a trip to Kentucky. The manager was very professional and engaged asking me what I specifically wanting done. He was very helpful letting me know that they would check the van over to make sure we had a safe trip. They completed an oil change, changed out two tires and did an alignment for a very reasonable price. I had heard horror stories about Dobbs but took my chances since I was desperate for help on a possible transmission issue. It was slipping into second gear pretty hard and I kept my fingers crossed for a simple fix... They ran a diagnostic test on it and told me I had two options, I either needed a brand new transmission, or buy a new car since it was only a matter of time before it completely collapsed on me altogether. The cost would be anywhere from $2,500-3,600 depending on the warrantee. They told me to think it over and to let them know what I decided to do and did not charge me for the diagnostic test. I went home and called a few other auto repair places and found a shop that specializes in just transmissions. I brought my car down the next day and had them look into it. They told me that my transmission is in great shape and I only needed a small replacement part that was reading the temp incorrectly. So I did NOT need a whole new transmission at all. I will say that I appreciate the free diagnostic test, but I never go to Dobbs again. They've done more damage to cars than helped from what I've personally heard and thankfully I was not just another person that got taken advantage of. :( read more

I have been a long time customer, having been responsible for a small leased fleet that my team drove. As a result they knew me well at this Dobbs and always treated me well. I have no complaints with the work done. At leat twice they have used the "Fixed for Life" guarantee without me asking, once replacing a battery for free, before it failed and I did not know there was an issue. My only objection is that they will push services you may not need so be informed and educated and manage the service experience on your own terms. read more

We have been getting the run around from them for 3 days now. They say a sensor needs to be fixed and it's a quick repair, however they have had my car for 3 full days and it is still not ready. No one has called me to communicate what is going on, rather I have to call down there multiple times a day. Every time they tell me a service manager will call me back, which they never do! I had to personally go down there to speak to someone about what was going on, which is when I found out that this wasn't the problem, rather it was a pump! Why wouldn't they tell me that?I will absolutely never go here again! I have 4 little kids who I can't take to preschool without my vehicle. They have cost me 2 days of tuition, plus the additional child care costs to watch the kids. read more

I took my car to this Dobbs location because I discovered a screw in one of my tires. They took my car in right away. Everything was going smoothly until they called to tell me that my tires were at "60% wear" and I should consider replacing ALL of my tires. They then proceeded me to quote me on tires that would cost $500+. First of all, this was not something that I had authorized them to research. Second, the tires on my car had the top of the line Michelin tires that were less than 2 years old. Third, even if they were at "60% wear," that's not at the point where they need replacing. I told them quickly that I was not interested and to just fix my one bad tire. Unfortunately, I find this to be a common practice among car dealers and repair shops....they take advantage of young women that appear naive about cars. And this location is one of them. I recommend that you take your business elsewhere. read more

Went to Dobbs for my emissions test so that I could get plates. With out it you can't get plates. Told me it did not pass and it would cost 1,245.00 and gave me the estimate. I screwed right. Called my friend and he told me to take it to Bobs transmission on Dorsette . They agreed there was some blockage. Said it was the Catilatic converter. Replaced it for 405.00. Passed and got my plates. This is the second time they have did this to me. Last time they kept my truck for a week and cost me over 700.00. I will never go there again . They can't be trusted in my mind. Maybe 60 minutes should check them out read more

No one wants to have to go buy new tires. It's unpleasant. Much like I imagine getting a root canal would be even though I've never had one. I had known for a couple of months that I needed new tires before winter hit. I was saving the chore for after my trip to Asia. On Tuesday I got a nail in one of my tires and the sensor went on. It was a slow leak so I drove on in Tuesday evening and stopped at Costco to look at tires but they were out of my size. On Wednesday morning I stopped at this Dobbs to have the leak repaired and buy myself a couple of days to make the tire decision. I chose this one because if you're going to be stranded somewhere for at least an hour it's better to be in the Valley than the one slightly east on Chesterfield Parkway because at least I could walk around and shop. Jorden called me 46 minutes after I dropped off the car to ask if I'd come back to Dobbs because he'd like to go over some things with me. I said just do it on the phone. The leak was in a bad spot and maybe it could be fixed but I need new tires anyway. He gave me the price for new tires and it was within $5 (per tire) of the Costco price so I said go ahead and do it. How long will that take? 45 minutes. After I returned Jorden came to the waiting room to oversell me on alignment for another $89.95 and said do it but we're getting close to two hours now that I've been here and I'm really ready to go! Right at the 2 hour and 10 minute mark I got word everything was ready. I paid and got out! Yay! I'm not complaining about the service I received here but I am complaining about how long everything takes and the fact that they always over promise and under deliver. read more

BEWARE!!!!? I took my vehicle to them for a simple state inspection, they tried to sell me a $950 exhaust part. I refused and took it to two other shops to have them look at it and make sure it needed this part. After one shop that did not have a state inspection license stated it needed nothing I proceeded to another Missouri state inspection shop where they also stated the same opinion as the second shop that it needed nothing to pass. Dobbs clearly was trying to oversell a part to only help with their revenue. I noticed on the store wall that this store what store of the year in 2018. This just clarifies that this store has the highest amount of sales of all the Dobbs stores. I would venture to say this is because they oversell the customers in West County that don't have a clue on what they're actually paying for. I would be very cautious of doing business with Chris the manager or anyone in the store. I called Chris the manager after my findings that two other repair shops could find zero things wrong with this exhaust system and he became very belligerent and had no empathy of the situation. I told him that I had been doing business with David Dobbs for over 20+ years and that I had never been missed lead by a Donbs store until then. Even after I had told him this Chris the manager could care less and continued to over talk me on the phone. He did not want to listen to anything and was only wanting to try to belittle me. read more

I saved this experience for my 300th review because it was such a great example of customer service. My car needed an oil change, so I called Dobbs because they allow you to actually SCHEDULE an oil change. For some reason, the fact that people value their time and would like to actually know how long they can expect to be at the service place is lost on most places of this type. This was necessary during my busy season at work and they really worked with me to figure out a time that was convenient. I took it in and they changed the oil as expected; no big news there. They did give me a discount though, just for asking, which was nice. What happened next was exemplary... I got back in the car to drive off and a warning light came on that my daytime running lights were not working. Of course, my first instinct was to go back in and ask them about it, like maybe they tripped a fuze or something during the oil change. They sent someone out to look at it and they verified that neither of the dang DRL were working! The drivers side was easy...they quickly popped out the bulb, discovered it was actually burned out, and replaced it. The passenger side was not so easy. The way my car is made the mechanic had to take apart most of the car to get at the bulb. Slight exaggeration, but based on how the wiper fluid tank was mounted there were several components that had to be removed before he could get to the light. It was also burned out. Weird coincidence, but obviously nothing their oil change could cause. I went back inside to pay for the light bulbs and the mechanics time and they wouldn't take my money. The man working the desk said that he was just glad it was fixed and that there was no charge because they should have caught it during the vehicle inspection. I left a happy customer and will be back when its time for another oil change or small service. read more

Had low tire pressure the dealership wanted to fix, with a new tire. My wife went to this Dobbs location to get another opinion. They said that valve stem on the tire was corroded and needed to be replaced, and that this was the culprit of the slow leak. $90 for that fix. Unfortunately the next morning the tire was flat. Put the spare on and filled the flat tire with air. Mike in Chesterfield Dobbs arranged for me to go see Dave at the Dobbs on Chippewa to get my tire checked out. Dave at the Dobbs on Chippewa said that everything was fine with the tire. On Monday my wife goes to work and the tire has low pressure. She takes it back to the Dobbs on Chesterfield to get it checked out, and they wanted us to replace it with a new tire. After talking to manager Chris, things were smoothed out. They gave us few free oil changes for the trouble and applied the difference for the work with the valve stem toward the new tire. I must say I was very impressed by Chris for turning an initially negative customer experience into a positive one. read more

I told them I was going to have to come back another day to get my car worked on. They assured me we could get my car in my budget and ready to go that day. DOBBS YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHO THE FUCK YOU HAVE WORKING YOUR FRONT DESK. I Wont be back and I have always gone to Dobbs for any vehicle work I have needed and i have always been treated fairly as a matter of a fact i just had Dobbs in Arnold order me in some special tires for my Lexus (which im going to cancel) HOWEVER this last visit has changed everything. I had my valve stem caps corrode on to the valve stems and i was unable to get them off so i stop by Dobbs on airport road right by the Airport where I work and ask Dave if he could change my stems out because my 35" NITTO tires were getting low and they needed to be filled he appeared annoyed by my question and he then responds with " i guess i could get it in at some point today and it most likely will be 8 PM this was at noon, so i decided you know what i will take it to my hangar and cut the caps off with a grinder. So a week later I attempted that very thing. One of the caps was no problem but the other i nicked the valve stem and it started leaking. So i take my aircraft Nitrogen fill up my tire as high as i can which was about 30 PSI but it was leaking rapidly, i then put a cap on and wrapped it with electrical tape so i could limp it to Dobbs. I get to Dobbs and the tire was getting Low of course I walk in and I get Dave again. He had the same dam attitude like he's annoyed that I'm back, he says the same thing again well i guess i could get it in but it will be 7 (it was 11 AM) well now i feel stuck i cant limp it to Dobbs in Arnold which is where i usually go and its so low now I'm afraid to try and drive it anywhere else. So good ole FRIENDLY DAVE starts a ticket comes back with 196 FUCKING DOLLARS i was like for 2 valve stems he says well they are TPMS and thats what they cost plus Labor, i said i don't have TPMS sensors on my Vehicle he then looks EVEN MORE annoyed like well now I'm going to make even less money, so he re-calculates and comes back with 106.00. I said how much for the valve stems he says 2 bucks but those 35" tires are LABOR INTENSIVE, so I feel trapped I said well i guess im stuck. I walk outside and see my tire is still holding pressure so i call Auto Tire down the road, the guy Answers he was very friendly i tell him my situation with the Stem, he says no big deal get it to me and we will get them changed, so I get my keys from DAVE tell Dave dont worry about i wont keep your guys Here late for my LABOR INTENSIVE VALVE STEM CHANGE. I get my vehicle to Auto Tire 1 mile away, they guy is extremely friendly and he says its 20 bucks 10 per tire I said even on 35" tires he said yea they are no big deal. So i went ahead and had them change my oil while they were at it, all together my bill was 76.89 Including the LABOR INTENSIVE VALVE STEM CHANGE. So FUCK YOU DAVE i am canceling my tire Order and i wont be having DOBBS do work on my vehicles EVER AGAIN. Including buying my 36" tires for my K2500 Diesel. read more

I've taken my car to this Dobbs quite often because I purchased the lifetime tire balance & rotate. I've had many oil changes at this location too. They consistently try to sell more service than you really need. I had a slow leak in a tire and they "fixed" it... for about 10 miles. I took it to another location and it hasn't leaked air again. I now wonder if they did the rotate/balance everytime I took it there (sometimes i have to wait over an hour sometimes less than 1/2 an hour).They often "forget" to credit service coupons. So make sure you check on any specials they might have before you pay! read more

The battery light came on in my dash on my way to work. I was concerned there could be an issue with my alternator as I knew the battery in my car was fairly recent. I dropped my car off at Dobbs on the way to work to have them check it out. They said it needed a radiator and an alternator. It was an expensive job $1600, but I was worried about driving the car to my dealer and causing more issues so I went ahead with the Dobbs repair. First time I've had a major repair done by someone other than my dealer. I've learned my lesson! Big mistake! The transmission line was not hooked up correctly to the new radiator resulting in leaking transmission fluid. Luckily I caught it before my transmission was damaged. This resulted in $400 in additional repairs at my dealer to correct transmission line and service transmission fluids since they were leaking. I won't be taking my car back to Dobbs again. 6/13/16 Update - I contacted Steve @ Dobbs per his post below. I also spoke with Anthony, the service manager of the local Dobbs location. Dobbs refunded me the $400 for the extra money I spent to repair my car at the dealer. I appreciated Dobbs professionalism and courtesy to refund this money. read more
