I've been wanting to visit Doberman for ages, and finally got the opportunity to last night (Sunday at about 545p). It 100% exceeded my expectations! The ambiance, atmosphere, and decor was top notch- think lush and regal. Service was lovely, and the drinks were creative and delicious. We were also lucky to have caught the most amazing live music! Cool bar located on the north end of the Arts District. It has a great dim ambiance with interesting art and decor, making it a fantastic spot for a date night or hanging out with a group. The menu is limited when it comes to both cocktails and food (good thing) and the drinks are unique. No photos or videos inside. Parking is available for $4 an hour, and the bar does not validate. This bar is amazing. The interior was old, luxurious, and dark. I had Charcuterie Book and THE PILLOW. THE PILLOW BOOK was very pretty drink. It's a spot down in Fremont and I'm never down here. It's a cute little bar. I was expecting the venue to have Doberman portraits everywhere due to the name haha. But they had a one year anniversary party yesterday. It was pretty packed and crowded. They have a parking lot where they charge for parking at $5 for first hour and $4 each additional hour. So if not you can find street parking it'll be free. It would be nice if they had an outdoor patio as well too. But it's only indoors. read more

This was a fantastic speakeasy with a cool vibe, live music and the tastiest drinks. Bartenders know what they are doing and are super cool to chat with. We ordered a couple rounds and the charcuterie box which was served in an old hard cover book that opens and holds the charcuterie treats.,They bring this out and create a cool spectacle by lighting it on fire for presentation. Yikes. Very complicated feelings about this place. It's always hard when an incredible local staple where people come for community and creative expression gets shut down and replaced with something impersonal and polished. So take this review with a grain of salt. The bartenders here are next level with their craftsmanship. The cocktails are incredibly well balanced. One bartender made us an off menu cocktail featuring an ingredient I normally hate but the cocktail was so well balanced that it might have actually changed my mind. I can't stress enough how lovely their cocktail menu is with the balance of sweetness (not too much) and acidity from what I tried. We ended up staying longer than intended to keep trying concoctions from the menu. Unfortunately, while nobody said anything to me directly, I got the feeling that getting tipsy and talking to other patrons was very much frowned upon. So if you're anti social or a very private person this is a good bar for you but I don't know if I will be back barring a specific event in which mingling is encouraged. I didn't try any of their food but noted that they have slightly elevated bar snacks on the menu. Went on a Wednesday night for the piano show which was great listening and very cohesive with the elevated vibe and velveteen decor. read more

People without reservations arrived at the same time and it was standing room only at the bar for them. Upon walking in my spouse said the decor reminded him of Park on Fremont. Sure enough it ended up being the same owners. The ambience is very chic, moody, and gorgeously decorated. The club was decorated for Christmas. It was warm and cozy without being over the top. I don't usually go to bars, but the Doberman is hosting Mahjong Mondays for the month of February and I love mahjong. I went with friends and we had a blast! This used to be Artifice, and, according to my friend, it looks totally different in its new incarnation. I love the whole vibe and decor; very old- school. We sat in a booth with a mahjong set all ready to go. Our server,Taylor, was great. I did inquire whether we could take photos as I had seen a sign at the front saying that photos were not allowed. She said that it was okay that night, probably because of the mahjong event. Of course, there's an extensive cocktail menu, complete with non-alcoholic options. There are also small bites you can order. I ordered the Caninha: cachaca, coconut, lime, herbs and spices, honey, and tonic--salud to that! So nice and refreshing, not too sweet. They also "zero-proof" drinks if you don't want any alcohol. I loved my first visit there and plan to go back for another Mahjong Monday before the month is done. So I came here for their Valentines theme: A Tale of Love and it is a tale I would gladly read over and over again. We didn't have a live band this particular evening however I did enjoy the tunes that were playing overhead. Service was impeccable like the last time I came here. And I ordered a cocktail each from the Tale of Love menu and their signature menu. Both cocktails were excellent and I got a good buzz off of them too. We ordered the Snack Trio and it was very flavorful. I was stuffing the pecans into the olives and placing the olives on top of a chicharron-the combo was heaven. The long tablecloth got caught under my friend and a drink spilled. She said she would bring another drink but instead we waited for ten minutes and then she returned to ask "will you be opening a new tab?" What?? Barely scraped a Two Star. Let's start with This is a newer establishment in the Arts. They originally had opened trying to sell memberships only admittance. Well I'm guessing that did not work. Well you know what else doesn't work, Rude and arrogant staff that snuffs you as soon as you walk in! So our first visit. Christmas Eve. We walk in to "So you have reservations?" Nope " well all our tables are reserved so you can stand over there". Several open tables right behind us. Fine then no cocktail service, had to go to the bar. Before we did some seats opened up at the bar. So my wife asked about them and very nice server gal had said well let's just tell the host. Well I'm not sure what was said but there was some discussions. We ended up seated at the bar because my wife told me the gal has basically told this host "just opened up three seats let them have them!" Okay we were sat and now we are looking at the bar menu which is a list of fancy curated craft cocktails. I had a Patriot and it was okay, not sure I would order again. Then a Nine Countries, it was okay. Sometimes Bartenders try too hard to be crafty. He noticed I was just sipping at it. When he found out my displeasure. He said he would make something and stated " I know you will like it" well it was horrible, I don't remember what he called it, some Whiskey cocktail like an old fashioned. A second bartender dumped it with a smile and made me a Chocolate Old Fashioned which was fantastic.The previous bartender just rolled his eyes at me. Okay the decor is gorgeous! Also they were decorated for Christmas and it was expertly done. This is a posh, dining area with red velvet booths and crazy cool funky art. Gorgeous light fixtures and even the restroom is matching decor! The gals moving cocktails and food were working their tails off. It was not packed but it was busy. There were still some open tables. I will end with this, you never know who just walked in your door. Could be local could be tourist could be a billionaire, everyone should be treated nicely, especially since they are coming in to spend $$$. Overall if you are into pretentious arrogant attitudes and think you belong in a place that thinks they are better than everyone else then this could be your spot! read more

This is a newer bar that hasn't been opened too long and when I tell you that it is super cute inside, it most definitely is! I went out for drinks with a few friends. It's dark lit on the inside, a very elegant with a speakeasy feel. Their take on cocktails is epic. You won't find drinks on the menu like this anywhere. There are very lite bites here so I recommend having dinner first and arriving here for drinks later. As a note, they ask you not to take photos so there are none included here in the review. Another great night at the Doberman! The new cocktail menu is solid plus we went off menu and ordered something "incorporating tart cherries" and the bartender didn't disappoint. Tonight they had a wonderful singer treating us to Adele covers and while I love catching up with friends, I could also listen to these songs all night long. The Doberman doesn't disappoint. Came for the valentine's event today. Really cute Valentine's decore. One of the girls said they want to be like the Bellagio but off this trip, so they were going to get tons more decoration so make sure you guys check them out this week. The welcome drink was really sweet and tiny. I got the drink with strawberry juice and egg foam and it was so well balanced. $20. 2 drinks in 45 min and not even a head change, so it was probably more sugar than alcohol.
