First visit based on a recommendation. Visited Friday afternoon for lunch. Was very busy and our wait was nearly double what the host quoted but we did have a party of six. Staff was very friendly and the drinks (especially the bloody Mary's) were delicious. Food took a noticeable amount of time to come out but it was worth the wait once we tasted. On our last day visiting the city, we wanted to eat somewhere great and close by our hotel. After reading the great reviews and checking out the menu we walked the 6 minutes and had arguably the best meal of our trip! The Tangled Noodle salad with steak was fresh and flavorful with mango, mint, edamame and cashews. I want to try and recreate it at home although it may be difficult since they fly in the noodles from San Francisco daily. We also shared the Corned Beef Sandwich which is on a pretzel bun with delicious dressing and perfectly flavored swiss. Very rich, but perfect to share. Our server was quick and attentive and the manager even brought over lemon cheesecake gelato sandwiches to try. They were heavenly and absolutely worth the calories! What a great place. I can't believe I have stayed across the street in hotels numerous times and have never visited. You have won me over and I will be back. I went there Thursday post work but pre theatre tickets. I was blown away at how efficient and delicious this place was. Everything came out in excellent time. Our server, Meredith, was gracious and lovely. We had the wings as an appetizer. I was worried about the wings being heavy but something about the seasoning and sauce made them light and perfect. The black tiger shrimp salad was very good, and I really liked the Wok Out bowl as it was perfect with my preference of mph wavy carbs. They also had Intelligencia coffee. Stupid of me not to check but I was so hungry and inhaling my food and realized towards the end it had bacon. I do not eat bacon and was really upset. This place was very good! We went here for dinner on Sunday while visiting Chicago. We were seated immediately, and the service was quick. I had the Wok Out bowl with tofu, brown rice, and spicy Thai sauce. It was honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten; I couldn't stop talking about how good it was. They did skimp a little on the tofu (I was out of it long before I finished the rest of the dish), but it was alright as the other parts were very flavorful even without it. The rest of my family really liked their meals as well. We had the chocolate cake (I can't remember the exact name) and Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cheesecake for dessert and split them. The cheesecake was wonderful! It was quite soft, and I prefer soft cheesecake to hard, so that was great. It really did taste like Cinnamon Toast Crunch! I didn't have any chocolate cake, but everyone else said it was delicious. They messed up my dad's salad and didn't put cheese on my sister's steak sandwich, but they said both dishes were amazing anyways. This place exceeded expectations. Sat at Amanda's table (great service) and each of her recommendations were spot in. Had the guacamole.....amazing. Then the steak sandwich and a side salad. Side salad was huge, and delish. Two words: cornbread croutons. The steak on the sandwich, ordered medium, was like butter. Tender and melt in your mouth. We found this place via Yelp as we were looking for a place for dinner near the John Hancock building. The vibe was cozy but hip and very inviting. Despite being a Friday night with no reservation we got in with basically no wait. Everything on the menu looked great and we relied on our server to provide suggestions. We started with a couple cocktails (I can't remember the name, but it had tequila, jalapeno, and pineapple) and an order of guacamole. The guac came with sweet potato chips and was delish!!! The drink was good but on the sweet side and not as spicy as we might have liked. I had the noodle salad with tofu and my friend had the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and a side of cole slaw. Everything was delicious and we couldn't finish it all despite trying pretty hard. Especially surprising was the cole slaw which had dill pickle in it. I would definitely recommend this place for a great dinner or just drinks and some apps to share. So good!! read more

I'm always a fan of ordering online for delivery, and I appreciate the relatively late hours. I really like that this place offers plenty of healthy choices as well as the more conventional burgers. I went to Doc B's with a group of 8 business associates from out of town who were staying at a hotel nearby. The main reason for this choice was the location and the review on Yelp. It's a clean, modern looking space with an open air frontage, an exposed kitchen in the back, a bar off to one side and a bunch of tables for dinning. There are TVs on the walls tuned to ESPN and Musac sounding covers of contemporary music being piped in. We had a decent group so we made a reservation and were seated immediately and our waitress came around for our drink order. There is a modest canned and bottled beer list on the back of the menu but it did not list the beers on tap, and our waitress had a hard time remembering what was available. We also asked about appetizers and she suggested the vegetable crudites and what we heard as "kale chips" but in hindsight, looking at the menu was probably the kale and artichoke dip. It was a group of 9 guys so we skipped the suggestions went with the sweet potato chips and guac, spicy tuna rolls, and the polenta fries. The tuna rolls were excellent, the chips/guac a novel take on a classic (I'd have preferred tortilla chips though), and the poleta fries were more like polenta cut in large rectangles than anything resembling fries. While it tasted fine, I expected something you could eat with your fingers but this was knife/fork food. For dinner I had the Wedge burger, based on the recommendations here and the fact that I love the classic wedge salad, and I also love burgers with egg on them (Au Cheval, etc.). For a side I had the coleslaw. I've had bleu cheese burgers before and for whatever reason I'm not a huge fan, but I stupidly made that choice at Doc B's, and for me it was a mistake. The coleslaw was good, as was burger itself, but overall I did not care for the meal. There was a lot of bleu cheese and it was pretty strong, and the combo of egg, beef, candied bacon, and bleu cheese proved to be too much for me. I think I'd have preferred it more if the bacon weren't candied as the pungent smell and flavor of the cheese and the sweet smell and flavor of the bacon clashed and towards the end became revolting. We finished our meal and moved on to an event that evening. Overall we were in and out in just over an hour and the process overall was efficient but not hurried. After dinner, no one in the group complained about their meal, nor did anyone praise it. Overall I think it is a decent choice if you are limited for time and want a reasonably priced meal, but it's not someplace I'm dying to return to. read more

Doc B's is one of my favorite places to grab a quick dinner in Chicago. Their turkey burgers and California salad our amazing.

Disclaimer: I dined alone and only spent about 45 mins here. Enough to down 4 beers and what they termed "The Homage Burger". The Homage is a single patty with pickles, white onion and 1000 island dressing. Cheese too. The burger was entirely too salty and a little on the greasy side. The dressing seemed house made but added very little flavor. The fries were a bit over cooked. The meal was disappointing especially since I was looking forward to it so much. Both Doc B's locations serve fantastic food in an upscale setting at reasonable prices ($16 after tax, mains). The wait staff are always polite and helpful. The food is absolutely fantastic, some of my favorite in Chicago. There are many choices, and several very good choices for vegetarians. The Plate is one of the best vegetable dishes I've ever had. The only thing I don't like about the restaurant is that there are about 5 TV's showing sports in both locations. However, they are on mute. read more
