Ducked in here for dinner during a rain shower and enjoyed everything we tried! The atmosphere was casual, laid back and comfortable. The service was engaging and super fun. The pricing was spot on. We tried the lobster roll with fries. The seasoning was perfect, the dressing light and the butter grilled roll was loaded with tender fresh lobster meat. Our next dish was the BBQ burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was just ever so slightly over cooked for what we ordered, but the flavors were nice. It was well seasoned. I wish they were more generous with the toppings as I couldn't even taste the BBQ sauce in the bites I had. This left the burger, overall, just a tad dry. The sweet potato fries came with a really nice honey mustard dip. Our last dish was the tuna salad. The tuna steak was perfectly seared on a super hot grill giving it a nice crisp flavorful outer edge with a red raw center. The spicy mayo glaze over the top was a nice compliment. The salad was loaded with Asian flavors, fruits, veges and a carrot ginger vinaigrette that accompanied it beautifully. We had a couple farmhouse beers that were on tap and enjoyed those as well. Stopped by Doc B's for lunch while visiting the Windy City this past weekend. Our salads were spectacular. We had the kale salad with pistachios, roasted sweet potato, avocado and cranberries drizzled with roasted garlic dressing. We also tried the seared ahi tuna salad with mixed greens, mango and avocado with ginger dressing. This is now one of our favorite lunch spots in the city. Staying at the Hilton Garden Inn and we decided to stop across the street for a quick lunch. Both my boyfriend and I don't each meat at non-kosher restaurants, but we were happy to find out that all burgers can be submitted with a veggie patty made of quinoa and black beans. I got the Napa burger with a veggie patty and it was sooo good. Especially the pile of avocado on top. The only downside was the party didn't stay together all and fell apart pretty fast. We started with the kale and artichoke dip which was also pretty good. My boyfriend got the wedge burger and thought it was good and his stayed together a bit better than mine. The decor is very simple and the restaurant has a open concept that is very simple as well. But I can say that this place puts an effort into the FOOD! Our server was quick, efficient, accommodating and helpful. I was teetering between the veggie burger and the Wok Out Bowl for which I am grateful she did. I got the Wok Out Bowl with tiger shrimp, brown rice and Thai sauce and was not disappointed. TONS of flavor and they did not skimp on the shrimp! We also got the organic chicken wings and sweet potato fries as appetizers. Of note, the portions were quite large. The fries easily serves two and the wings, there were a dozen so we recommend sharing if not using it as an entree. My Bowl also could have easily served 2. Relatively healthy options. I generally always get the guacamole and wok out bowl. The only disappointing part is that the meat portions in the wok out bowl are very small. We ordered a wok out bowl with double the portion of protein which was an extra 10 dollars. With double the portion of steak there was maybe only 4-5oz of actual meat. read more

They serve an abundance of flavorful, fresh entrees that are reasonably priced in the Gold Coast and River North neighborhoods. I was excited to read that Doc B's plans to expand in Texas and open another location in Florida. Doc B's leadership. If you're reading this please open one in the West Loop!!! It's booming, you will make mad $$$$ despite all those other places on Randolph St. Food wise, the menu is VAST! Salads, burgers, sandwiches, BBQ ribs, Asian inspired "Wok" bowls and homemade desserts. My favorites are the Number 6 Fried Chicken Sandwich accompanied by delicious fries (you can choose a healthier side if you desire), and their full rack of fall off the bone pork ribs. I have also tried the tofu Wok bowls and chicken salad that were flavorful. Can't wait for my next trip to Doc B's. read more

A friend of mine introduced me to this place, she works in the area and has a real good handle on the dining options. I have to admit, the first time I went to Doc B's I made the mistake of ordering a burger, which was decent, but still a burger. It didn't impress me much, and I wasn't even sure I'd be back. As luck would have it we were having that where to go conversation and she suggested Doc B's and then said, and don't get a burger. Well then, I guess I'll check out what else I'll get. I decided on the Knife and Fork salad, which basically is a cobb salad, they serve it with crispy chicken. I've been trying to eat healthier and asked our sever if they can substitute the crispy with grilled, of course she said, no problem at all. This is welcomed, some places won't or if they do they react as if you asked them for their first born. My dining companions salmon salad looked so good I was tempted to ask her for some despite being allergic. Elaine from Seinfeld used to ask, "is he sponge worthy?" for me the question is, "is that hive worthy?" I think it would have been, I did have to resist. They also have a happy hour, all glasses of wine at 5$ for a regular sized glass, not a smaller version, and I did say all, not just a choice of red or white, you make your selection of the wines on the menu. Our sever was informative and friendly without being intrusive, all in all a very pleasant dining experience. I plan on more visits if it remains consistant. read more

The reviews were so great for this place, I was bummed my Ahi Tuna Salad was so bland. The ingredients were good, the dressing just didn't do much for me and the ahi tuna wasn't seasoned at all. The highlight was the sweet potato chips that came along with our gauc. We gobbled them up and asked for a second bowl! If you come here, do yourself a favor and at least order those! read more

All I want right now is that chicken sandwich. The light, buttery, toasted sesame roll and that breaded chicken topped with creamy, crunchy coleslaw, plus 1000 Island dressing. Everything paired so well together. When it comes to delivery you worry that getting a crispy sandwich in a takeout box won't end well. In this case, the sandwich stayed crispy and tender. Nothing soggy and it was lunchtime satisfaction at its finest. I'd order that chicken sandwich time and time again. I also had the kale slaw salad on the side. Just enough veggies in a cup-size bowl. The vinaigrette was light and refreshing and the kale dressed well. A great veggie complement to my sandwich. When something is that good, it's what I order (and think about) over and over again. Sigh... I'm sitting at my desk working through lunch right now, and I have to admit I'm thinking about Doc B's. Doc delivered my favorite crispy chicken sandwich with coleslaw last week to a work meeting, and for the third time getting delivery it was perfect, like all the other times. I'm typically not a huge fan of delivery because food can come late or soggy, but not here. Note: I usually get the side of sweet potato fries, but I'm so glad I went with the slaw. I think they should set up a separate review page just for the slaw...tangy, creamy, rich, and light...and the side is huge! From now on I will most likely order the slaw, even though I know Andrea R will be super bummed because she likes to share my fries. Maybe I can hook her on the slaw? Gave Doc B's a try after being invited to dinner with some friends. We started off with a round of drinks (gin and tonic for me) and HOLY HELL these drinks are STRONG. Like, a really, really heavy pour. Which isn't a bad thing but wow. The guac with sweet potato chips is a fantastic starter. The chips are delicious, and they give you tons of guac-it was the perfect amount for 5 of us, so I can imagine smaller parties get a ton. I went with the turkey burger and fries and I gotta say, it was really, really good. The avocado was a great touch, my burger was cooked well. I don't know what it was exactly, but I was very pleasantly surprised by how good my food was. My fries were seasoned really well too. I would hands down come back here if I was downtown shopping at Northbridge. It's good food that tastes fresh and isn't ridiculously expensive. read more

I'm glad a Doc B's opened up on Grand (between Rush & Wabash) about 2 minutes from my condo. I've always enjoyed the food at the location on Walton, but didn't enjoy the walk there (tourist everywhere I turn...no offense to the tourist that visit Chicago). The location on Grand is a nice size in a great location and I like how the windows go all the way up so you can lookout at the passers-by and hear the sounds of the city. However, I must say that if you are going to sit by the open windows be prepared to have gnats, mosquitoes and other flying insects hovering around you and your food. The service here is EXCELLENT! Everyone was so helpful and courteous; you can tell management has trained them well. Our server Shannon was awesome. She gave us great recommendations on both drinks and dinner options. Food wise I enjoyed everything I ate. A must try, in my opinion, is the guacamole with sea salted sweet potato chips. Oh man these rocked my world hardcore. For my entree I figured I'd step outside of my comfort zone and get the Veggie Burger. The burger was a decent size and flavorful, but I missed sinking my teeth into meat (that sounds dirty), especially when I saw the burgers the couple at the next table had ordered. Me and my girlfriend stopped in here for some lunch and loved it! Jessica our server was very friendly and helped with recommendations! Taylor the manager was also awesome! She came by and helped my girlfriend out with changing her sauce and had a lovely conversation with us! Food was amazing as well I had the number six chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and there house honey mustard which is a must! Great lunch experience with Doc B's today! My co-workers and I ordered delivery for our meeting and this was probably my favorite lunch experience while working in the city so far. Super awesome that they delivered to our office and the food even came 15 minutes earlier than we were quoted. Doc B's offers a nice variety - salads, sandwiches, burgers, entrees, asian inspired bowls and more. They really live up to the "fresh-casual" restaurant they call themselves. I love the mix of comfort food and healthy options. I ordered a wok out bowl which is served with market veggies and chopped cashews. You then choose your meat, sauce, and carb options. I went with the black tiger shrimp, spicy Thai, and Shanghai lo mein ($14). Absolutely delicious! The spicy Thai sauce had the perfect amount of heat (although water still needed) and was full of flavor. I was surprised not only by the quality and size of the shrimp, but the amount! Usually when you order something with shrimp you maybe get a few pieces, but this bowl was packed. The veggies and noodles were perfectly portioned. Such a fabulous lunch! read more

I found Doc B's while meandering the confusing streets of Downtown Chicago, cold and alone. (boohoohoo :p) I walked in around lunch time and there were plenty of staff members hanging around the front of house. There were, maybe, 2 tables seated. The rest of the place was empty. Usually, I see this as a red flag. I'm glad that I was too cold to care, though, or I would've missed out on a simple but genuinely good dining experience. When I walked in, I was greeted with a smile. Actually, several warm smiles. Thanks for that, staff-peoples. I sat at the bar and ordered a Crazy Beautiful to drink and Cajun Fish Sandwich. The seasonal white fish that they used in the sandwich was lake perch. I expected the fish to be blackened, maybe even a bit on the dry side, or even battered (because, some places think cajun = peppery-battered and deep fried). But, nope. It was delicately seasoned (I added a dash of salt to bring the flavor out a bit) and delicately cooked. Flaky and tender. Not battered and not drowned in random spices. I was impressed. The remoulade and red onion were nice compliments in the sandwich. Just, overall, yummy. The drink was yummy. The food was yummy. The service was yummy. Service can be yummy, right? I'm really glad we came across Doc B's while visiting Chicago! This location was around the block from our hotel, and we decided to stop in based on the reviews. The dinning room was trendy and refined, making for a comfortable "upscale" casual environment. During our first visit, we sampled the House Salad, Salmon Wok Bowl w/ Lo Mein, and the Thai Noodle Salad. Service was average/semi rushed by our server near the bar area. However, the food was delicious! The salmon on the Wok Bowl was perfectly grilled to perfection. They placed some tasty spices on the fish, along with a sesame glaze on the noodles. I enjoyed the fresh vegetables in the bowl too (kale, eggplant, carrots, etc). The House Salads were perfectly executed, with a delicious tangy dressing and cornbread croutons (similar to the House Salad at Hillstone Group restaurants). The Thai Noodle Salad was tasty as well, but the peanut sauce was a little overwhelming. We enjoyed the food so much that we came back a second night. Service was much more refined and professional, and we were seated in a more comfortable area of the restaurant. The Salmon Wok Bowl was delicious again (this time with the spicy chili sauce). We also enjoyed the Chicken Wok Bowl, House Salads again, and the Mint Cookie Sandwich for dessert. All were well done.
