I would love to say I had a great night out with my kids but that would be a lie. We went to Dockside because my family had friends from out of town here and wanted them to experience a "gooey" I ordered three gooeys and I had the unlimited salad bar. Our waitress was great, and made us feel welcome. The ice cream was enjoyed. I had a plate of salad. And went to get another plate. On this plate I accidentally put the wrong dressing that I did not intend on the Salad. Rather than wasting food, I offered it to my children. And went and got a new plate of salad with the right dressing. That is when Lance the supervisor stepped in when I was at the salad bar. With a raised voice he informed me that I was "not to feed my entire people with salad". He did not give me a chance or the opportunity to explain why I did not want that plate of salad. He was rude, and embarrassing for me, and my children, it made my 14-year-old son comfortable he left the restaurant. It ruined our night and we left the restaurant shortly after that. On my way out behind my children, I stopped to try to him and let him know how he made me feel. He was very unapologetic and still very RUDE. I am sure this is not the appearance and the impression that couer d alene resort would like to have with their guests. I plan on calling the manager about him we will see what happens. Wanted to leave an update. The manager called me this afternoon. She took the time to listen to my story and understand what I was saying and asking. She apologized for her supervisor, and assured me that he would be talked to. It was a great conversation. I feel as though my voice was heard and mattered. I am feeling much better about this. I am sure that the supervisor will handle this differently in the future. read more

I'm a fan of Dockside. It's one of our go-to joints. The prices are fairly good, and the service is always good. The best part is the view of course. Dockside has floor to ceiling windows all around the dining space. It over looks the little marina on the lake. During the holiday season the lighting is spectacular. They have lots of dessert options, and they are consistently good. My current go-to favorite menu item is the Prime Rib French Dip. It has caramelized onions and horse radish sauce. It's so so good. The cougar gold cheese bake is my favorite off the appetizer menu. Entree wise I usually go with the Broiled Ribeye. They are pretty much famous for their Gooey desserts, which are like ice cream sundaes on steroids. Seriously like 5 people can share one of these things. They are enormous. My 8 yo daughter wanted her birthday at Dockside for the Gooeys... which we did. All in all, I would say if you want a good meal at an affordable price this is a great place to dine in. Stay at the resort all the time, love it. This time we had to stay off resort because we needed to be closer to family. So we drove in to the resort just for the food. We were so disappointed. All the food came at once, so most was eaten cold because it all stacked up. The dipping sauce for the calamari was good, the muscles were good but the vegetables with my husbands roast beef were overcooked and unseasoned and my seared tuna was awful, they barely seared it and it was too large to cook in the manner they did so it was ick. The vegetables had an Asian sauce on my plate, I ate that but it was no where near worth $30 for the vegetables that were edible. Couldn't believe the server asked if everything was OK while I had a mouthful of vegetables and took the plates seeing the tuna was barely touched and didn't think to say anything when she put the check on the table, she really didn't care if we enjoyed our late lunch or not. Pay extra and get the salad bar, it is worth it compared to the side salad. I'm not sure what all the hype about the gooey was (99 percent vanilla ice cream, 1 percent butterfinger) about but the kids liked it. We asked for a window table around sunset but they keep all the blinds down, obstructing the views. The circular booth would have been a better choice. Kind of strange that they have these laminated menus. However the table ordered a variety of food and all was pretty good, when the sun went down we got to raise the blinds and enjoy the view. You can walk directly out to the boardwalk which is fun. The food is a good value and it's good for groups and kids, and no one could really object to the bland fare. Next time I would get the clams and salad bar, that would be a good meal there. read more

The food here is so-so. The dessert is why it gets a 3. The dinner, for starters, tasted like it was out of a box. My potatoes were so thick and "froo-frooed" that they were almost inedible(and I'm a potato obsessed woman here). The chicken was covered in half-cooked peppers. and the chicken was pounded flat and VERY overcooked. It was like rubber. It also happened to look a lot like the chicken pieces fast food chains get for sandwiches that are microwavable. Ew. the sauce was a basic butter sauce. Not exactly memorable and NOT worth the $15. Decent price for a restaurant, but still. I can get better at Olive Garden chains. The desserts are what you should come here for. Expensive, maybe. Delicious is a definite! The cheesecake is amazing and perfect, especially with huckleberry sauce. The gooeys are really good, and a giant one is perfect for 3 or 4 people(please don't try eating one all by yourself. go for a personal). Anything huckleberry from here is amazing. Also, I had a gigantic surprise last time I came here...they had tiramisu, which is my favorite dessert of all time. EVER. And this stuff was the BOMB. It had chocolate sides and chocolate syrup and was fancy and all decorated. I was so excited. They make seasonal desserts, and this was the best dessert I think I've ever had!!! So, absolutely no for dinner, but heck yes for dessert, earning 3 stars from me. read more

The view is nice. You will pay a slight premium due to the fact that it is placed in a fancy resort. The "famous" salad bar is nothing more than a pizza hut style salad bar. I don't want to be harsh and I didn't have anything else aside from the salad bar, but this place was kind of like an over priced denny's. The staff was polite. read more

Food was just OK (hotel food) and very expensive. The much discussed "18 foot salad bar" was no better than many casual dining establishments. Service was tolerable, but nothing to write home about. The only redeeming feature is the view, if you can negotiate a window table. read more

I just go there for their salad bar and soup. I'm not a big 'salad bar' person, but this one always does the trick! Sometimes they don't put their soup out, which is really frustrating because that's the entire reason we go in the winter time. read more

Dockside is one of my favorite places. Their food is absolutely wonderful...their chef staff truly knows what they are doing. Me and my family go for their Sunday brunch about once or twice a year and it is our absolute favorite. It is definitely a bit pricey, but BEYOND worth it. Their food is so gourmet and amazing..I have yet to try a bad thing! The view of the lake is breathtaking and the staff always seems to be nice. I also enjoy their Gooey desserts...yummy! Great experience! We came in on a busy Sunday night and were sat almost immediately. Service was outstanding. Food and drinks were delivered quickly. Every appetizer was tasty; calamari, steamed clams, mozzarella sticks. Dinner was good as well, but the highlight was the dessert! Butterfingers Gooey and a dirt and worm bowl for the kids!!! Not a bad seat in the restaurant. We had a half moon booth facing the marina. Definitely will recommend to others. We will be coming back the next time we visit Idaho. read more

Ok, I get it, the view of the lake is fantastic. We had the salad bar. Very good. Fresh. Lot's of selections. The dessert. German Chocolate Cake. We split it. It was cold, hard, doughy because of all the frosting. It tasted like the fridge. If you are going to have a zillion types of cake for dessert, you at least must make them fresh. The atmosphere was very nice. Music was not loud and it was setting a good mood. The view was amazing and the seats were comfortable. The table was set very nicely and cleaned. When Vince the waiter came to take our order, he asked all the right questions with sensitivity and professionalism. Once we got our food, I had an issue with my burger. Vince promptly took care of it and the manager had the burger remade, have my wife and I a free dessert and took care of the cost of the burger. I was very pleased with how they handled it. Went on quiet Tuesday nite to meet and talk with friends. Used to live in that area, thought I was familiar with quality. Ended up very disappointed. The only saving grace was our server-she was great. Ordered the steak special-came out cooked wrong-mrare was well done, med was rare, and instead of a thicker cut, they were VERY thin and shoe leathery. Rather than sending it all back, we switched our plates around-you know what is said about sending food back to the kitchen! The salad bar was becoming old and worn looking. Service was great(as always, quick service and friendly faces), food was great, view was great(of course it was. It's Coeur D Alene I mean come on). Napkins....not very absorbent. I made a mess and then tried to clean it up and the darn tootin things just spread the mess around. Napkins are supposed to be absorbent. I wanna be able to clean up a mess like the people in the paper towel commercials. I wanna be able to clean up water with ease and not have it spread the heck around. My waiter spilled a tad of water on the ground, and guess what he did? He took a napkin from his pocket and cleaned it up WITH EASE. The napkin he had absorbed it no problem at all. Where can I get a napkin like that? That's what we need. Absorbent napkins. I don't have a clue what these napkins are made of, but it's some kind of waterproof madness. Pretty sure it's not cotton though. That's the good stuff, that's the stuff that's absorbent and aids to the cleanup of messes. The reason paper towels are so absorbent is because they are "woven" and j guess these "napkins" or "towels" or whatever aren't. The surface becomes textured and therefore more absorbent and such when they are made this way. The cloths we were provided with at Dockside, wasn't textured at all. They were flat and smooth. I don't even know what's going on anymore. This is all a lie. Napkins aren't absorbent, what's next, plants don't need water? Yes, the napkins are classy and fancy and they look nice. I enjoy them, but they aren't practical. This place deserves 5 starts but unfortunately due to the napkin incident you're going to have to settle for 4.5. I'm sorry bb!! read more

We drove all the way from Spokane to get some of their cheesecake, which we heard was good. It was getting late so we called to order it for a pickup. The person taking our call was incompetent at best. We gave her out order then had to prompt her to ask what kind of sauce we wanted on our cheesecake. We ordered a cheesecake with huckleberry sauce and a piece of coconut cake. We drove forty minutes, yep forty minutes. We went inside and were informed that they were all out of cheesecake. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN GOOD TO KNOW FORTY MINUTES AGO YOU BLITHERING IDIOTS. My fiancée got me a piece of coconut cake as well, you know, since they were out of the thing we drove forty minutes to get. I can't rate the cheesecake, BECAUSE THEY WERE OUT AFTER WE DROVE FORTY GODDAMN MINUTES TO GET IT, BEFORE ORDERING IT ON THE PHONE, YOU KNOW TO MAKE SURE THEY HAD IT, but I can rate the coconut cake. It was slight worse than awful, but slightly better than the anguish of 100,000 lost souls wandering the earth for the rest of eternity, but just slightly. Ours tasted about as fresh ghandi's thong on a really, really hot humid day. The "chef" who defrosted our cake slices had all the deft knife skills of a blind folded and hammer on two-buck-chuck Freddy Kreuger. Our slices didn't appear to be cut from the cake so much as ripped the shit out it. Presentation was dynamite looking like whoever placed our "slices" of sadness spent all of three seconds on each making sure they weren't too neat and also to be sure they evoked that festering pile of dog mess look. Well, in this regard they nailed it, good on ya there boys! After one bite I longed for the 2.49 frozen coconut cake you can find in walmarts freezer section, sure it was made two years ago, but it still junior to this stuff. From now on instead of the word "freezerburn" I'm just going to use "dockside coconut cake" So skip the sadness of 100.000 tortured souls and go somewhere else, anywhere really. But if you're just dying for then staff that have the intelligence zombies and coconut cake that taste like you licking satan's grundle, then this place is for you. read more

We have gone to the Dockside for their (formerly) awesome Sunday brunch for a few years now. This place used to be incredible - huge piles of chilled smoked salmon and shrimp cocktail, crème brulee French toast, pastries, a chocolate fountain for fondue strawberries, a crepe and omelet station, it went on and on. They still have a passable brulee French toast, but gone were the chocolate fountain and cold seafood and the hot dishes were not as numerous - or as good - as before. TONS of dessert pastries, but not my choice for brunch. They recently remodeled the seating, and the booths and tables are now cramped and it's difficult to pass through with plates - the dining area is way too far from the food area now and closer proximity is needed for the buffet. The service was okay but not as good as it used to be - it seemed to be overstaffed with hostesses and understaffed with servers. This is a pricey brunch which used to be well worth the expense. Now, it's just way overpriced for what you get. read more

Wanted to come here to try the Gooeys and have some nice family waterfront dining. Party of 10 seated at 6:25 with 6:30 reservations (so that was nice!). Seated in a highly-trafficked walkway that they crammed a large party table into (wait staff kept knocking my head as they breezed by, one dropped an entire tray of glasses in a dishwashing rack and glass shattered all over our legs--wasn't his fault, just a bad layout for staff to work). Food arrived at 7:23. My halibut was way over cooked and dry with a side of mushy vegetables that looked like it came out of a frozen Green Giant package and rice pilaf that looked and tasted like boxed Rice-a-Roni. The kids' burgers looked like frozen patties thrown on the grill. One of our people's orders was missed (waited an additional 6 mins for it to arrive). Food was really salty (like trying to add taste by over salting everything). It's a tourist trap cafeteria. Gooeys were ok, but everything felt pre-packaged and from a box or bag, they're not even trying here. read more

Eating in a supposedly upscale restaurant shouldn't have your spouse leaving in a literal panic attack because of the experience. We have three children and have trained them how to behave in nice establishments. However, our youngest is two and doesn't always behave perfectly in which case I take him out of the restaurant. I am saying this because the children of other patrons at this restaurant were running up down between the tables screaming while my children sat quietly at the table eating. However when my daughter who is 4, had to use the restroom our inattentive server came and cleared her plate without asking and threw away most of her dinner leaving her in tears because she was still hungry. My husband was stressed by the whole experience especially the bad service, the screaming children, the rude treatment and the $150 bill for two entrees and three kids meals with no extras. Not exactly the experience we were hoping for. The only positive was the salmon was good...the kids meals were about the quality of Red Robin. Won't be going here again. As usual, a CDA establishment that is overrated. Wish we could find a decent restaurant in this town. read more
